I’m not here to teach (or educate) anything to anyone but only as a reminder about the benefits of nature which, has its own limits. Wilderness cleans our air, filters our water and provides home for human as well as for wildlife. So it is crucial for humanity, which is already to blame, to bring radical changes today before it’s entire extinction tomorrow. That is my only intention here folks. Traditional old fashion snowshoes are still great for hard-packed mountain trails. But in soft snow, particularly when pulling toboggan, these are the best you can find for wilderness travel away from packed trails.

Canadian Ravens are such beautiful species.
Last night's visit from a red fox. Apparently, red foxes in Canada are the largest in their species with a weight between 3.6 and 11 kg (8 to 24 lb.).
So far, this is the second biggest Northern Raven feather found from the latest excursion. Even with my eyes wide shut, just by the smell, I can guest it is one. Definitely going right away in my collection.
Pileated woodpeckers eat mainly insects, especially carpenter ants and wood-boring beetle larvae. They also eat fruits, nuts, and many berries including the, Poison Ivy berries. Which is quite amazing.
These birds chip out large and roughly rectangular holes in trees while searching out insects, especially ant colonies.
