Woodpecker - Tumblr Posts

Ok, last of the Okami stuff for a while now. Really promise this time!! Used the woodpecker reference image this time and a few from Okamiden, which has a bird in it, for reference for where to put the swirly bits etc. Even played around making my signature Japanese!! #japan #okami #japanese #illustration #ink #watercolour #bird #woodpecker #birb #tree #art #sketch #sketchbook #cherryblossom #signiture #okamiden
That’s it guys:
Amazingwoodpecker and Sealisnotonfire.

A calm tree, in a calm field... originally drawn on a day that was, according to the original image description, not calm.

So far since this Spring, this is some feathers left on the land by our friends the birds. A count of 63 on the coffee table + 10 more found this morning. So a total of 73. The entire collection is way bigger and has been all consecrated inside a glass-door cabinet and cannot be removed from it.
This set of feathers will eventually join the others as soon as it will be consecrated. Can you imaging all the natural energy regenerated every day into that glass-door feathers cabinet? And of course no need to mention that this collection expends from season to season.
To name a few from this season's set we can see: Common Raven, Canadian Big Crow, Osprey aka Sea Hawk, Common Grackle, Blue Jays, North Canada's Downy and the Sapsucker Woodpecker, Merlin Falcon, Mourning dove and the small American Goldfinch.
Unbelievable... ! Thank you my friends. We'll make sure to refill your feeding stations every morning.

Pileated woodpeckers eat mainly insects, especially carpenter ants and wood-boring beetle larvae. They also eat fruits, nuts, and many berries including the, Poison Ivy berries. Which is quite amazing.
These birds chip out large and roughly rectangular holes in trees while searching out insects, especially ant colonies.
The North American Pileated Woodpecker. A native from the boreal forests of Canada.

#NorthernFlicker
A young Northern Flicker has begun clinging the cavity wall of the family nest and probably is about to take is first flight.
#HairyWoodpecker
The thing with Hairy woodpeckers is that their becs are really not adapted to open seeds. So while they're looking for the easy one, the feeding station gets empty real quick.
Red-cockaded woodpecker, Secretary bird and Bearded vulture!
BAM.
*Floof*
Edit: The first raptor is borrowed plumage from the greater roadrunner, not the woodpecker. (I was close?)
