Nooo, this is why you should absolutely add to posts! I love hearing people's thoughts and memories from early years of fandoms I've been in. It's also interesting to see the ways different fandoms crossover with trends but also how they stay remote from each other. So thank you for sharing! 😁💖 Also, four different languages is BONKERS! 🙌🤩

Thankfully, I find it pretty rare to come across fics with really clunky epithets these days. So much so that it's super jarring when I do. And maybe those writers use them because they do like them, which, you know, more power to them. I'll always encourage people to write what makes them happy. I don't think hobby writing always has to be an exercise in striving to be the most polished, professionally-edited-looking you can be. As long as they're enjoying their process and understand, like you said, that it might not always appeal to a broader audience, hey, more power to them! ✌️

That's interesting! Were you in other fandoms in that time? I started in HP (God rest its soul but not JKR's) in about '01/02, then LotR a year or two later, with SPN following that. I don't recall LotR specifically, but it was rife in HP back then and I remember a lot of "the older/younger brother" and "the green-eyed hunter", etc. back in the early years of SPN. Admittedly, I was only ever a fic reader in fandoms back then, so it's quite likely that I missed any discourse on the matter in the social spaces.

Of course, I was also quite young, and it was also quite a long time ago, so it's possible I'm getting my wires crossed. 🤔
