“got any sevens?”

“go fish,” johnny looked up to you through his eyelashes before sighing, watching you pull a card from the thick stack, already on your fifth game of go fish.

“great,” you mumbled.

it was ten o’clock at night and you couldn’t feel your legs nor could you hold your eyes open much longer, but it hurt to close them due to the bright fluorescent lights of the california (surprisingly) cold airport practically stabbing them.

you had begun to regret not accepting your mother’s invitation on flying out on an earlier time, that being three in the morning, with how long you had been located in the cold, large, busy, and annoying airport.

you rubbed your eyes as well as your face before slapping your hand of cards on the coffee table sat between you and johnny, no longer finding entertainment in beating him no matter how hard he tried to outsmart you. but the thing was, you cant outsmart someone in the game go fish.

miguel had threw a couple bags of chips on the table just as you had done so before taking a seat on the hard plastic linked together, his leg knocking against your back lightly before pinching the bridge of his nose, exhaling roughly, “you guys done with your game yet?”

“not even close,” johnny threw his hand down as well, leaning back on the palm of his hands after wiping his face from the grogginess that set in. “you seen robby?”

“nope,” miguel popped the ‘p’ making you squeeze your eyes shut to his answer. “but hey, good thing our flight has been delayed like five times.”

johnny scowled. in the five hours you had been there, your flight had been cancelled hour after hour leaving you and your two friends for built up anger and annoyance. it hadn’t helped that the one boy you had been hoping to see the whole day hadn’t shown up yet.

“you think he’d chickened out?” miguel lightly kicked your thigh with his shoe as you had your head leaned back against the seat next to him, being sat on the floor and in front of the rows of many seats.

“i hope not,” you shook your head lightly, thinking of how you had practically helped robby pack as you were laid on his twin size bed, pointing out nice shirts and pairs of pants he was to shove in the suitcase he had just bought that day. “otherwise he’ll have an ass beating when we get back.”

“he’ll show up,” johnny was leaned back on the palm of his hands as he lazily looked around the large airport lounge. “we lawrence’s aren’t quitters.”

“he’s not exactly a lawerence.”

“i’m still the reason he’s in the world,” johnny shrugged, “didn’t wrap when i tapped.”

both miguel and your face screwed up but decided to say nothing more to his words.

your flight was finally called and to your despair, there was no sign of robby.

you frowned as you sat in your seat alone without company. 

for weeks you had been looking forward to all of this; riding down to the bahamas with your best friend in hopes the vacation and experience would turn the two of you into something more.

in the three years you had known robby you had never known him to stand you up, especially without an explanation. robby was always true to his word and trustworthy, something due to not wanting to be like his father, despite johnny being a little more reliable in that moment with the fact that he was sat right across the isle from you… even if it were just for free drinks and no hotel/flight expenses.

“hey, y/n/n,” johnny pinched you lightly, “your parents wont think it’s weird of me still coming.. right?”

you looked to johnny, slightly sad, but quickly narrowing your brows, suppressing an amused look, “johnny,” you gave him a light pointed look, “there was a point in time you lived in our pool house, they’re not going to care if you show up without robby… it’ll just be another tuesday for them.”

your parents were rich and it wasn’t hard to tell with how it had taken two weeks for them to finally figure out a grown man was living in their pool house.. which was basically a second house with it having two floors and being fully furnished.

and once they had discovered johnny’s presences, they hadn’t been too concerned, considering johnny lawrence their yearly charity case. sure, it would seem to be an insult to anyone, but to johnny, it just meant free beer and steak whenever he wanted.

johnny nodded to your statement before turning to his magazine, now reassured to relaxation.. and it wasn’t long before a flight attendant handed him warm towel, sending him to his dreamland and leaving you in your nightmare.

the heat hit you immediately, sweat starting to ease out of your pores as you had made your way off the plane and into the bright bahama air where a bus waited for you and about ten other people.

“this is the life,” you could see johnny slowly ease out of his uptight and annoyed self and into a state you had never seen him. not even pool boy him could compare.

he had slung an arm over you and miguel after a necklace of flowers was placed over his head and a gift basket of chocolate was hung around his arm after getting off the sweaty bus with hot, non-breathable air.

“where’d you get the gift basket?” miguel frowned to see the wicker basket hung on his forearm, then looking back to his own where he lacked such a treat.

“i had to fight the lady back there for it,” he motioned to one of the greeting workers with an obvious frown on her face. “your parents should have warned em’ about me.”

he escaped from the two of you, disappearing behind a corner. it caused you to frown out of confusion with how abrupt he was but you could only go along with miguel’s shrug and foot path towards the inner lobby of the hotel.

“y/n.”

you heard your voice called and immediately you saw your mother’s face. she smiled as she made her way towards you with an obvious pep in her step, also melting away from her usual california uptight self. it made you slightly slow, taken aback by her increase in happiness, but you continued to walk with miguel, smiling back.

“hi mom.”

she had immediately pulled miguel in for a quick hug before turning to you, holding you tightly as she swung you back and forth before whispering in your ear, “he’s great.”

“who?” your face slightly scrunched with confusion.

“robby!”

you frowned until his face filled your vision from behind your mother. his face held a rare smile you only saw when it was just the two of you.

“y/n/n,” he took ahold of you to your shock, practically pushing you away from miguel and your mother who didn’t really care.

“you rode down with my parents?” your arms had wrapped around him instinctively as he continued to push you back towards the more private section of the lobby where tourists lacked.

your stomach filled with relief as well as shock as your face was pressed to his chest before you looked up to his face after he stopped walking. you couldn’t help but smile slightly.

“i couldn’t reach you.”

“you didn’t call?”

he slight shrugged before pulling away after a tight squeeze, “your parents showed up at my dads apartment at three in the morning, ready to take me to this vacation you had told me about that’s supposedly leaves at three p.m, not a.m...”

you laughed nervously, tucking a strand of loose hair behind your ear before looking into his eyes, “i was meaning to tell you…”

“when were you gone tell me, on the plane?”

“something like that,” you coughed before shaking your head, fully processing that your psycho parents picked him up without you. “why’d they pick you up?”

“your guess is as good as mine,” he shrugged lightly, not necessarily bothered with his hands shoved in his pockets.

you scoffed, shaking your head, “I’m glad you came.”

“what,” he frowned slightly, his hand then reaching up to hold your hip, “you think i wouldn’t?”

“kinda…”

he scoffed, shaking his head at your answer, “ y/n, you know i’d do anything for you, right? even if that means fake dating you to impress your grandparents.”

you smiled lightly, not sure what to say as you shied away from his gaze, suddenly feeling the heat and closeness between the two of you.

“hey,” you looked up to him as he softly kicked his knuckle against your cheek, “i got your back, okay?” he smiled crookedly before pressing a kiss on your cheek, “now get your swimsuit on, i promise your grandma a game of chicken in the pool.”

love - i think it’d take awhile for him to admit he loves you and when he does, it slips out and he denies he says it (like when chandler said he’d loved monica and freaked out) but he does love you.. he’s just the type it’s hard for him to say

motorcycle - he buys a motorcycle impulsively which was a fun idea after about two hours until he kind of crashed and had to take it to the scrap yard

nicknames - he comes up with the most random nicknames ever, which is cringy sometimes but real cute sometimes. he also uses the most generic nicknames like “princess” and “baby”.

old - you guys sometimes bicker like an old married couple, which your friends all make fun of you for

profanities - he swears ALL THE TIME and he’ll scream random curse words at the most random times.. it’s kinda cute

qdoba - jacob sometimes goes missing a lot of the time and most of the time he’s at qdoba eating a burrito

red - your skin gets red after jacob bites you at random times and so does his when you dig your nails in his back when things get spicy

sex - sex!

t.v. - binge watching “kirby buckets” and he hates you for it because he’s a little bit embarrassed but you baby him and say how cute he is

unibrow - you pluck his unibrow and eyebrows 😭

valentine’s day - jacob spoils you on valentine’s day with kisses and flowers and balloons

wimp - you call him a “wimp” or “a pussy” whenever he won’t do something you want to do, which is a bit manipulative but he will totally do it when you call him something like that because he wants to prove that he isn’t a pussy 😭

xolo - he’s either your guys’ roommate or is the equivalent of a roommate.. meaning he shows up to your guys’ apartment whenever he pleases

yo - he says “yo” a lot (i didn’t know what to put here)

zoom - he likes to drive real fast which sometimes scares you because he thinks it’s funny and doesn’t really pay attention and doesn’t slow down until you start yelling at him.
