THIS Is SO Important In Media.

THIS is SO important in media.

I watched turning red recently and it was a beautiful film, especially Embrace the Panda; the films biography/behind the scenes movie.

Sure, I’m not a 13 year old Asian girl living in Canada, but I was able to find some things within the film that I could relate to. And even if u cant, tat shouldn’t mean u should hate on the film.

If u cant find something to relate to in any media, that completely fine, but don’t hate on it just because u cant find something to relate to.

I’ll say it:

If you can only enjoy media that is made for you, caters to you, or represents your specific experiences, then you’re a bad consumer of media.

“Turning Red was weird because it’s about a 13-year-old Asian girl and I’m a grown ass white man!”

“She-ra doesn’t show cleavage and her legs; which i like being attracted to!”

“I love [insert mâle gay relationship] as a straight cis woman! Haha so cute smol bois!! But I don’t like [insert female gay relationship] because they’re gay and I can’t fetishize/relate to that!”

“I can’t read that book about a trans man/trans girl/nb person because I’m not those things and therefor this piece of media is bad!”

Like stfu and just say you don’t have the capability to look outside of your tiny worldview and enjoy shit that isn’t the cookie cutter picture of everything you’ve been spoon fed from birth.

Cole Cassidy did NOT lose his arm when he was still in Blackwatch

In the last comic we see of Blackwatch when that one building blows up (somewhat close to the fall of OW), Cole still had both arms.

In the Retribution mission, even closer to the fall, he still had both arms.

He lost it during the 7 year gap yall.

Idk y this bugs me sm. Been seeing fanart and comics of him losing his arm while still in Blackwatch and I’m here like 😐

No hate to yall, i love ur art and comics sm💖, just thought I’d get the knowledge out there idk.

Sry for being annoyed bout this

Why is everyone saying Cass lived in Santa Fe MX?

I keep seeing this everywhere with shit posts n stuff and I’m just rly confused??? I think y’all r confusing the info on his wiki.

It says his “Base” or what I assume to be his location if operations, is in Santa Fe

Why Is Everyone Saying Cass Lived In Santa Fe MX?

But in his story/lore, it states he grew up in Texas and shortly after, he met Ashe. It also doesn’t mention that the location was different, so when Cassidy met Ashe for the first time, he was still in Texas

Why Is Everyone Saying Cass Lived In Santa Fe MX?

Anyway, just thought I’d put it out there. Just me being picky again 😅

In regards to Cole Cassidy’s introduction, I’d like to say something to the people who are going to refuse to change, think this is ridiculous or some distraction tactic by Blizzard that doesn’t solve anything.

I am someone who has suffered from PTSD as a result of childhood trauma. If you don’t know, PTSD is an anxiety disorder that is common in victims of SA, but it’s more often than not associated with war veterans.

I’d like to give an example of how something as small as a name could have a huge impact.

I am a big fan of the MCU and when I learned that Tony Stark’s first name was Anthony. I felt a weird (and irrational) sensation of pain and betrayal. It was a moment where I felt my heart stop and ache in pain. Why you ask? That was the same name of the man that ruined my childhood. That ruined me and threatened to hurt my mom in violent fights that involved the police on several occasions. I was suddenly brought back to all of that just by hearing his name. I am a logical person. I know that the two are completely unrelated but that small link is enough to make me pause, to make my breath hitch in my throat and my heart race.

Cassidy is different, his previous name was after this man because people thought that man was so great that he deserved it. To be immortalized in one of Blizzard’s most successful properties. Some of the players may not know that but the people that work at Blizzard know it. The victims know it and to hear his name screamed and shouted in Overwatch league with cheers and excitement, in videos on YouTube, on Twitch, in countless amounts of merchandise. It might feel inescapable for them.

The character and the awful man that committed those atrocities are not the same person. Not in personality, appearance, or anything but they do have the same name and having that name continued to be associated with positivity must be heartbreaking for the victims.

I support Cole Cassidy’s name change. I know that this does not fix anything that has happened. This does not compensate for the awful experiences and memories the victims are left with but I feel like it is a nice gesture in the very least and I feel like it’s incredibly insensitive and selfish to not follow the change because “I don’t like it” or “the other was better”
