Overwatch/OW2 Theories: Maximillian

So, I’m a big fan of @mulberrybambi. They’re stuff is awesome and if you like Overwatch content you should follow them. I was scrolling through my feed about a week ago and one of their post caught my eye. It was part of their Swapped Au which focuses on the main Overwatch cast plus Reaper and Sojiro Shimada, Hanzo and Genji’s father. I’ll link the specific post, but the thing that I focused down on was the idea that Maximillian is Gérard Lacroix, Widowmaker’s “dead” husband, and I LOVE this idea with a passion.
So, let me explain. (Mulberrybambi’s post, go check them out).
In the post, Winston, who is going through files Reaper gave them, says, “he was the one who framed Gabe, Gabe caught on too quickly and he transferred his consciousness into an accounting Omnic to escape… he had Amélie kidnapped and brainwashed to cover it up and keep us occupied long enough for it to happen…” I think that this mostly makes a lot of sense, but the thing is that the timeline gets a little confusing if this is true, so I went through the Overwatch Wiki and some of the stuff on the Overwatch Media page and made my own, shortened timeline.
Latest to Most Recent: Venice Incident(Retribution Event), Widowmaker kills Gérard Lacroix both in 2068/2069; Storm Rising Event, the Swiss HQ explosion, then Overwatch is disbanded, all in 2070; Winston recalled Overwatch in 2076; present time(Paris attack) is in 2079.
Based off what the Overwatch Wiki said, Blackwatch knew that Maximillian was Doomfist’s accountant about eight years before the Overwatch Recall. This would just line up with when Gérard Lacroix was “killed” by Widowmaker. So, it wouldn’t surprise me if we found out that Gérard transferred his consciousness into Maximillian’s body, like Dr. Liao did with Echo, and let Widowmaker shoot his body to cover it all up.
Now, I want to make a list of traits that Maximillian and Gérard share which connect them further. Number one: they both existed around the same time, like I said early Maximillian popped up around the same time that Gérard died. Number two: they both worked in shady groups, Talon and Blackwatch. Even though Talon is an actual terrorist organization, and Blackwatch wasn’t, they both killed a good amount of people. Number three: they are both French. On the Overwatch Wiki trivia section, it said that Maximillian was named after Maximilien Robespierre who was a political figure during the French revolution. Robespierre had King Louis XVI and other nobles executed during a time period called the Reign of Terror, where a lot of the French people were executed. Maximillian is also the French variant of the Latin name Maximilianus.
Anyways, if I have time, I’ll make another post about what skins I want to have in the 2021 Archives event.

Overwatch/OW2 Theories: 2021 Archives Event

Alright! The 2021 Lunar New Year event was one of the best so far. It was so hard to choose a favorite skin when we got Pale Serpent Widowmaker, Tiger Bob, and Kkachi Echo, but I am more excited for the 2021 Archives Event that will be coming up in the next month/month and a half. So, I’m going to be talking about what the event is, for anyone who doesn’t really know what the whole point of the Archives event is, and what skins I want.
What is the Archives Event: basically, it is the event with the best challenge missions and some of the best skins(I think Halloween has best skins, fight me, but Retribution is the best game mode, Blackwatch is like a grumpy family and it’s great). Really the Archives Event is all about the lore of Overwatch. The skins are all based in the story, and we usually learn more about the story during the event. As an example, Orisa and Bastion’s Null Sector skins tie into the Omnic extremist group, Null Sector who shows up in the Uprising event.
What skins I want:
D.Va Shooting Star Skin: in D.Va’s animated short Shooting Star, we get to see Hana in an Esports uniform and a Mechanics outfit. Either would be good, it would probably be an epic skin though.
Sigma Scientist Skin: I want his outfit from his origin story when he was writing on a whiteboard... see-through-board... the name of the board doesn’t matter! Just give me a Sigma skin that has him in semi-normal clothes.
Brigitte Ironclad Skin: Torbjorn has an skin called Ironclad and I think Brigitte should also have one similar to it. We know that both Torbjorn and Brigitte have Ironclad Guild tattoos on their outer shoulders, Brigitte’s is on her left while Torbjorn’s is on his right.
Zenyatta Shambali Skin: I want this skin because of fanart I saw in a video about possible Archives Event skins. I think it’s cool because we know that Zenyatta was part of the Shambali Monastery with Mondatta, so it would be a good way to relate back to the lore and create a awesome lookin’ skin.
Ashe Deadlock Rebels Skin: the Deadlock Rebels novel by Lyndsay Ely that will come out in June 2021 has a really cool color with Deadlock McCree and Ashe in a cool lookin’ red, white, and black outfit. So yeah, I want it.
Echo Null Sector Skin: like I mentioned early, Orisa and Bastion have Null Sector skins, so I think it would be cool of the Overwatch Devs. to also make Echo look like she is in Null Sector.
Symmetra skin: I don’t know what type of skin would work for her, she already has Viskar skins for her basic legendaries and she got a Marammat skin for her special event, so I’m not sure, but she hasn’t gotten a lootbox legendary skin since the 2018 Winter Wonderland Event and I would like more Symmetra content.

Anyway, I think that I’ll either make a post about Ana or Hanzo next. I’ll also put together a couple master lists of all of my post to not just make it easier for anyone interested in my theories to look at the different posts I’ve made, but to make it easier for me to find my old posts.
TLDR: For the 2021 Archives Event, all about the Overwatch lore, I want a D.Va skin based off Shooting Star, a Sigma Scientist skin, a Brigitte Ironclad skin, a Zenyatta Shambali skin, an Ashe Deadlock Rebels skin, an Echo Null Sector skin, and a Symmetra skin of some sorts.
Overwatch/OW2 Theories: Storm Rising Mystery Omnic
Since the 2021 Archives Event is probably a couple weeks away, I was thinking about the challenge missions, Uprising, Retribution(my favorite one), and Storm Rising, and what theories I could come up with. I came up with two, but if I took more time to think about it I can probably come up with more. Anyhow, the first one I thought off was, “Who is the mystery Omnic talking to Doomfist at the ending cutscene of Storm Rising?” I’m going to talk about my theory and another theory that I found while researching.
Basic Information: He is an Omnic with red eyes(Are they eyes, sensors?). His voice actor is most likely Ramon Tikaram. He is seen with a hooded outfit. It looks like you can see his wiring in a similar way to Blackwatch Genji.
My Theory: I think that the mystery Omnic is from Null Sector. Doomfist says, “...you fight for your kind...” which would make sense for a character that is part of an extremist and violent group. Both Bastion and Orisa’s Null Sector skin show them having glowing red eyes(will go with eyes) just like this Omnic. This would work with my idea that Talon is attacking Zenyatta to kill him because he is a proponent of humans and Omnics living in peace, so Null Sector would want to work with Talon to kill him.
Mondatta theory: Please go read exactly what was written, I’m adding to it. So, I like the idea that a Shambali Omnic turned bad would be a good enemy for Zenyatta, but I feel like it can’t be Mondatta. It is really reinforced in the Alive animated short that Mondatta is dead, he shouldn’t be able to come back (it would be an interesting twist, but I feel like it shouldn’t happen). But having a Shambali monk that Zenyatta knew would be a really good way to give us more Zenyatta lore. In my post about Talon attacking Zenyatta, one photo I show has an image of a Null Sector Omnic that looks a lot like the Omnic from Storm Rising. They both have the hood and have the red eyes.
Anyways, I’m going to make a post about the MEKA Squad later. Then, I’ll make a post about a specific member of the MEKA Squad and what connections they might have to another known organization, it’s going to be a kind of out of there theory, but it is also kind of fun. I’m also going to do a post on Fio, Blackwatch’s pilot that saved Reyes, Moira, Genji, and McCree during Retribution.
TLDR: I think that the Mystery Omnic from Storm Rising is a member of Null Sector who might have been a brainwashed Shambali Monk. They might have been the one to ask Widowmaker and Sombra to attack Zenyatta in India.
Overwatch Recalled: MEKA Squad
A couple weeks ago, I said that I was going to be doing a post about MEKA Squad, so that is this post. This is post is going to be about the known members of the MEKA Squad, I’m not going to be able to go super in depth about each character since we don’t know that much about them, other than D.Va. I am going to go over what we know and in another post I am going to be using some of this information to theorize.
Captain Myung is the commanding officer of MEKA. Her base of operation is in Busan and when you are on the MEKA Base map in Busan, you can hear her voice in the background sometimes.
Dae-Hyun Park(박대현) is a mechanic for MEKA, specifically assigned to helping D.Va. Him and Hana were childhood friends. We learn that he acted as a voice of reason to Hana’s reckless nature when they were kids. I would assume that he was able to get a mechanics position in MEKA thanks to Hana vouching for him.
Hana Song(송하나) / D.Va is the pilot for the pink Tokki(토끼) mech. She is a former professional Mecha Guardian V player who was the reigning world champion. She was drafted along with other professional gamers because of her elite skills, instincts, and necessary reflexes.
Yuna Lee(이유나) / D.Mon is the pilot for the red and white Beast mech and leader of the MEKA pilots. She was also a professional Mecha Guardian V player, having played on the same eSports team with D.Va which is why their aliases are similar. D.Mon’s name is also a play on the world demon.
Kyung-soo Han(한경수) / King is the pilot for the yellow and white Singijeon(신기전) mech. He is also a former professional Mecha Guardian V eSports player. While D.Va and D.Mon played on the same team, King played on a rival team.
Jae-eun Kwon(권재은) / Casino is the pilot for the black and green La Princesse Sereine mech. Before joining MEKA, unlike the other members, he was a Formula One racecar driver. This could have impacted the design of his mech. Casino’s aliases and mech’s name could be references to Monaco, but that’s a theory for another day...
Seung-hwa Shi(시승화) / Overlord is the pilot of the gray and blue Mastermind mech. He is the youngest member of the MEKA Squad and a former professional gamer. His mech slightly resembles a VTOL aircraft and his aliases might be a reference to StarCraft which might have been the game he professionally played.
Anyways, I’m going to make a post about a specific member of MEKA tomorrow, probably. Eventually, I’ll also make a post about Fio, a former Blackwatch pilot that was featured in Retribution.
TLDR: There are seven known members of MEKA Squad, Captain Myung, Dae-Hyun Park, D.Va, D.Mon, King, Casino, and Overlord. Read the post to learn about them.

Overwatch/OW2 Theories: Fio
I am writing this while waiting for my Nintendo Switch to update so I can play Overwatch. That’s why it’s pretty short, but it wasn’t going to be that long either. Hope you all are as excited about the Roadhog skin as I am. Although I play D.Va a lot more than any other hero, I am a tank main with D.Va, Wrecking Ball, and Roadhog being some of my most played heros. ~ Nova
Alright, back on topic! Since Archives are coming up in a couple weeks, I was thinking about what I could talking about before it started. I came up the my theory on the Mystery Storm Rising Omnic(link), I wrote about what skins I wanted(link), so this theory is going to be about Retribution, my favorite game mode. The first thing that came to my mind was Fio. So, I’m going to go over what we know about her and I’m going to theorize about what role she might play in the future, if she plays any at all.
Basics: Fio is a former Blackwatch pilot who was deployed to pick up Gabriel Reyes, Jesse McCree, Genji Shimada, and Moira O'Deorain in Rialto during the Venice Incident(which is the Retribution game mode). I’m not exactly sure who her voice actress is, it might be Echo’s voice actress, Jeannie Bolet. If you want to listen to her from Retribution, here is the link, her first lines are at 4:25.
Overwatch Theory: Since we know Fio was a pilot, after Blackwatch and Overwatch disbanded, she probably joined the Air Force of the country she is from (maybe the USA? I’m not sure). Eventually, she would have gotten the recall message. We know that she didn’t respond to it like Tracer, Mei, or Reinhardt and Brigitte, but it would be cool if she showed up. It would me interesting to see her interactions with McCree and Genji.
Talon Theory: We know from Baptiste’s short story, What you Left Behind, that some ex-Overwatch/ex-Blackwatch member joined Talon after the groups were disbanded, some examples are people like Moira and Gabriel Reyes/Reaper. So, it is possible that Fio joined Talon. During Blizzconline, the Overwatch Devs. mentioned that we might get to play as Talon characters during hero missions, so they might have Fio as the pilot that drops them off wherever they need to go.
Anyways, I got a lot more done yesterday than I thought I was going to, so I might just not post tomorrow. I think that I’m going to start theorizing about possible new characters and new maps, but I am going to make a post about ideas for future mini events/character challenges since Roadhog just got one.
TLDR: Fio was the Blackwatch pilot that saved Reyes, McCree, Genji, and Moira. After Overwatch/Blackwatch disbanded, there are two main options of what would have happened to Fio. One, she joined the Air Force of her country, then she eventually shows up to help the Recalled Overwatch. Two, she joined Talon and acts as a pilot for Talon themed hero missions.
OWL: Experiment Card Tournament and how to connect your Blizzard Battle Net account to YouTube.
So, I know that the Overwatch League fanbase isn’t as big as it used to be, but I still really enjoy watching it, and with the Experiment Card Tournament starting on Saturday March 27th at 3:00 pm(Eastern Daylight Time in the US), I want to go over improvements the Overwatch League are making to the watching experience. In the title for each section, it will be linked to the information straight from the Overwatch League website or twitter.
Experiment Card Tournament: This is a bunch of Overwatch League players from APAC and NA, as well as people who signed up, playing on the experiment patch that Saebyeolbe, Alan Gai, Jaewon Kim, Fran, Soon, and Space put together. They came up with 45 changes, that is currently on the Experimental Card, that the players will play on. Soe Gschwind, Matt “MrX” Morello, and Jonathan “Reinforce” Larsson will be the anchors. You can watch it on the Overwatch League YouTube channel and still get tokens. Now let me explain.
Connecting your Battle Net Account to your YouTube account: First you need to have both a YouTube and Blizzard Battle Net account. Second, on the YouTube main page, you go to the menu/sidebar in the top left corner and scroll all the way down. When you get to the bottom, you will see the settings option. Third, you click on the settings option, then another menu comes up. On the new menu you click on the Connected Apps option. One of the apps you can connect to YouTube is Battle.net which is the Blizzard/Overwatch account. Finally, you click on the connect option for Battle.net, then it will ask you again if you want to connect, and you connect it. Boom! Everything is connected and when you watch you get your points!
Overwatch League 2021 Schedule: So, after the Experimental Card Tournament the 2021 Overwatch League Season will start. The first match will be on Friday, April 16th and it will be the Houston Outlaws vs the Dallas Fuel. Like I mentioned early, you will be able to watch it on the Overwatch League YouTube channel, and you can watch it on the Overwatch League app.
Anyways, I hope this helps anyone who hasn’t kept up with all of the information that the Overwatch League has been posting on their twitter or YouTube. I’ll be posting about a possible Blackwatch Sniper soon.

Overwatch/OW2 Theories: Blackwatch Sniper

About two weeks ago I was asked by @banwanyana about the idea of a ex-Blackwatch agent, other than Fio, responding to the Recalled message. She specifically mentioned the idea about Blackwatch having a sniper like Overwatch has Ana. I already had an idea about this in mind kind of, but it was about an ex-Blackwatch tank not sniper. So, today I’m going to theorize about a possible Blackwatch/ex-Blackwatch Sniper.
Blackwatch: The person is going to be a sniper, like a mix of Ana and Widowmaker. They probably wouldn’t have a biotic rifle, since Moira is Blackwatch’s healer, but I feel like the design of a Blackwatch sniper-rifle would have a similar design to Ana’s Horus/Captain Amari rifle with the color palette of Widowmaker’s Talon rifle.
This sniper might have been a sharpshooter for their country’s military, like Ana, or they were part of a gang and had to chose between jail or Blackwatch, like McCree. Going off of my answer for @banwanyana , this sniper would have also had some sort of intimate relationship with McCree which would give them both a good amount of interactions in game.
Post Disbanded Overwatch: If this character was a sharpshooter in their country’s military before joining Overwatch, then they would probably rejoined their country’s military. If they were part of a gang, kind of like McCree, they could have either gone back to the gang for a while before rejoining Overwatch or they became a vigilante like McCree. Also, if they stayed in contact with McCree, we could learn more about what McCree was doing(like how he really lost his arm).
Recalled Overwatch: They would be joining after everything in Paris and Toronto. They would probably join because McCree or Genji asked them. They would probably get along well with most of the Recalled Overwatch with maybe some tension between them and the original Overwatch members depending on how much of a role this sniper had in Blackwatch. If they killed a lot of people and don’t have too much of a problem with killing, they probably won’t get along well with Mercy and might scare some of the new Recalled Overwatch like Lucio, D.Va, or Baptiste, but they would probably get along decently with Zarya and would be close with Genji and McCree.
Anyways, I going to be doing my post about a ex-Blackwatch tank next. After that, if I don’t think of something else, I’m going to post about another cut map.

Alright! In my post about a Blackwatch sniper, I mentioned that I already had an idea in my head about an ex-Blackwatch tank, so these are my ideas about it.
Blackwatch: Being a tank in Blackwatch, they would probably be like Reinhardt but smaller since Blackwatch does stealth missions. They would have joined Blackwatch after Retribution/Venice Incident. They would probably be used for taking out large gangs or maybe groups like Null Sector. Also, I might have found an image of this possible character. The picture has the correct color scheme, black, red, and grey, and their helmet looks similar to Reinhardt’s which would add to the idea that they are a tank.
Post Disbanded Overwatch: Like my post about a Blackwatch Sniper, if they were part of their country’s military before Blackwatch, they might go back to that military. With that said, if they were forced to join Blackwatch, like McCree was, then they might rejoin their old gang or become a vigilante.

Talon: In my post about a sniper, I specifically wrote it with the intention of them joining the Recalled Overwatch, but for this post I want to mention Talon. We know that Talon has tank units called Heavy Assault Units, Mauga is a example of one, so it wouldn’t be a surprise if this tank joined Talon as a Heavy Assault Unit. We also know that some ex-Overwatch members, specifically ex-Blackwatch members, joined Talon after the groups disbanded with Moira and Reaper being the prime examples of that. Finally, if they were a Talon tank, that would mean we have another possible character that would be played in Talon Story Missions.
Anyways, I’m not going to post for a couple of days due to Easter, but I will be going over the Archives Event skins when they come out and I will talk a little bit about the Overwatch League once it starts.
TLDR: If we got a ex-Blackwatch tank, they would have joined after the Venice Incident and would help take out large gangs or similar groups. Depending on what they did before Blackwatch; they might rejoin the military, rejoin their gang, or become a vigilante. If they joined the Recalled Overwatch, they would be joining after Toronto and would probably get along better with the older Overwatch member since they joined Blackwatch later. If they didn’t join Overwatch, and instead joined Talon, they would probably be a playable character in the Talon story mission and would be a Heavy Assault Unit.
Overwatch 2 Theories: Possible Old Guard Team
While thinking about theories I could make, I chose to rewatch the origin stories and cinematics. In the Recall cinematic, I zeroed down on something new. After his fight with Reaper, Winston chooses to recall Overwatch, and we get to see a bunch of old guard Overwatch profiles (actually, I was inspired by one of the profiles to write my Blackwatch tank post). So, I am going to talk about some of the other profiles you can see in the Recall cinematic.
TLDR: In the profiles from the Recall cinematic, there are four images that make me think the people in them were part of a strike team. They all have similar black and blue outfits. We only know one of the characters, the woman, Kimiko. Also, one of the characters, the man with the Overwatch beret, was probably the strike team leader. They probably have 2 DPS, 1 tank, and 1 support.
Based on the Image: Like the Uprising Strike team, these people look like a four-member Strike team, 3 men and 1 woman, because their outfits look similar. They all have blue shoulder pads with a black or silver armor piece around their neck. We only know the name of one of the characters, the woman. Her name is Kimiko and she took part in the rescue operation that ended up with Ana losing her eye.
Speculation: Since we know that Kimiko worked under Jack Morrison and Ana Amari before Ana lost her eye, I would assume that Kimiko was put into this strike team after the Ana Legacy comic mission. In the image, we can see that the man on the left has a beret with the Overwatch logo on it which makes me think that he was the strike team commander/strike team captain. They might have gone on missions specifically against Null Sector, or maybe Talon, similarly to the Uprising strike team. I haven't been able to find any information on any of the other characters, but I am going to guess what their role would be. From left to right: DPS, DPS, Tank, Support.
Anyways, I will be working on another possible character post soon, but I am going to be making a correction to one of my other posts first. While researching for this post, I learned some new information about a photo I used before. The correction will be out, probably, tomorrow.
Overwatch 2 Theories: Blackwatch Tank Corrections
While I was researching for my post about a possible Overwatch Strike team, I learned something about an image I used. On my post about an ex-Blackwatch tank, I used the image below on the left as a reference, but the thing is that we know who that is, or should I say, was supposed to be.
The character in both images is called Wildebeest. He was one of the original characters pitched for Prometheus(Titan) which became Overwatch. Parts of his design helped create Reinhardt, Orisa, and Brigitte. His size and shield would connect him to Reinhardt, his horns and nationality would connect him to Orisa(he is supposed to be from Numbani), and his flail weapon connects him to Brigitte. I think that his concept art is really cool, and I might do a theory on him in the future since I now know more about him(it might be more of a mini-theory).
Anyways, I will be posting about the Overwatch League soon, and I will be making a post about Aaron Keller's first Game Director Developer update!
