Today Is Transgender Day Of Remembrance And Resilience.
Today is Transgender Day of Remembrance and Resilience.
This day is an incredibly important day for the trans community. Today, we must take the time to mourn our trans and nonbinary siblings who were lost to anti-trans violence and suicide. We must remember how beautiful, strong, and amazing they were. We must remember the struggles they endured and the sacrifices they made to make things better for our community. We must remember everything they suffered through and everything they did and give our thanks to them.
And in mourning of these incredible individuals, we are reminded why we continue to fight. We fight not only for those of us who we’ve lost but also for those of us who are still here. We must fight against our internal struggles, transphobia, anti-trans legislation, people who seek to harm us, and more to work towards a better future for ourselves, the future our late siblings dreamed of seeing. We will create a better, brighter future for ourselves and our community!!!!!
But to do this, we have to work together. We need to uplift each other, give each other love, and offer acceptance and understanding to one another. We need to support each other as much as we can, or we will not make it. We have to stick together. We must be united to win this fight, to stop violence against us, and to do our trans and nonbinary siblings justice.
And let us not forget that, just like our trans ancestors, we are strong, too! We are resilient, too! We can make it through this fight and come out on top! Even at our weakest, we continue to fight for ourselves and for each other! And even when we can’t fight anymore, we still have thousands of trans and nonbinary siblings next to us and fighting for us! Because our community is full of neverending strength and bravery. Our community is full of remarkable individuals who never give up, who REFUSE to give up! Never forget that.
Never forget those who fought for us. And never forget the reasons why we continue to fight ♡♡♡♡♡

i feel so incredibly sick, i can’t believe this has happened.
if you don’t know who brandon bernard is, here is his story.
brandon was a young african american man who was an accessory to a crime in 1999. he was only 18 years old at the time. despite not having the main role in the case and even with several details remaining unknown, brandon bernard was sentenced to death. after 21 years in prison, he was put to death, murdered by the federal government on december 10th 2020.
brandon did not have a leading role in the crime committed. he was an accomplice at only 18 years old. he demonstrated positive behaviour throughout his two decades in prison and he even reached out to others to counsel them not to follow in his path. when he was found guilty, the government and jurors both lacked critical details and had an incomplete picture of the man brandon was and the offense committed.
five of the nine jurors who originally found brandon guilty, as well as the prosecutor who assisted in getting him on death row, all asked trump to intervene and halt the execution. when these jurors were given new information YEARS after his sentencing, they either fully supported brandon’s clemency petition to get him off death row or were not opposed to his death sentence beinf commuted to life without parole instead. the SAME jurors who 20 years ago, with the incomplete information they had at the time, found brandon guilty and unanimously voted for the death sentence. former prosecutor, angela moore, who helped put him on death row argued for the trump administration to spare brandon’s life. “i urgently hope that a court or the president will step in to stop brandon’s execution.”
brandon bernard was pronounced dead, on december 10th 2020 at 9:27pm.
despite a clemency petition and thousands of letters, the us government and trump administration murdered this man. brandon bernard was a friend. a son. a father. remember him. remember his smile and his kind words. this world needs to change and we have to be the change. please remember this mans name and his story.

“if these are my last days, i pray that my words will live on forever...i hope that my death will bring a meaning other than destruction and it will ripple through generations positively.” 🤍
rest in peace, brandon bernard.
We couldn’t save Brandon Bernard, we couldn’t save Corey Johnson, we couldn’t save Dustin John Higgs, but we can still save Pervis Payne.
Pervis Payne is set to be executed on April 9th, we still have a decent amount of time. That being said, don’t wait to speak up and act. Time is still precious. Here’s an article by the Innocence Project about Pervis Payne’s case. As a bit of a side note: the Innocence Project is an amazing organization that deserves as much support as they can get. I’m not telling you to donate to them or anything, however I AM telling you to read up on their cases and resources.
Along with this, President-Elect Joe Biden opposes the death penalty. He WILL listen to people who oppose capital punishment, unlike bloodthirsty Trump. Raise awareness, DEMAND that the White House bring an end to such a cruel, inhumane practice.
Here is a list of anti-death penalty groups to support and use as resources.
To everyone who sees this:
My home country, Myanmar (Burma) is in a serious situation.
On the first of February 2021. the military seized power. They had detained government officials, including our State Counsellor, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and our president, U Win Myint.
Every form of connection, both wifi and mobile data, all was cut off this morning. We did not know what was happening for the whole of the morning, until 5 in my house when the internet was back on.
They had cut all news channel, we do not know what really is happening inside our country other than their power seizure, and we do not know what is happening in the world right now. Every news channel except the military owned are now cut.
There are now curfews to stay at home after 8pm in Yangon, whether the same law apply to other cities are unknown.
There is not much we can do as citizens other than hope that our little voices reach the world. The best we can hope for is.
I am in the dark and cannot shed much light on the situation. You might have heard and know better by now. The 8888 uprising is one that had happened in the past, we hope this is not another one. Some think that the worst may result in our country disappearing off the face of the Earth, but I can only hope for the best.
The internet and electricity may be cut off again at 12 in the night, Myanmar Time, but some said this is a rumour. I do not know yet.
Spreading awareness on this situation is extremely important to us, we are no strangers to being left in the dark corner for a long time.
Speaking from my heart, I hope that we can stand as a union of humanity, rather than divided by any borders or nationalities. The military oppression will not only affect our country, our children, our lives to the biggest extent, it can tear the centuries our country had survived into nothingness. In the 88 uprising, countless bodies had been buried alive, the streets had been covered with blood, and tears drown the country. We can only hope this is not 88 again.
To every bystander, to help us, spreading awareness is important. It’s extremely important to research as well and get to the bottom ( and avoid circular reporting), and I will try to explain as much as possible if there is time.
There was another announcement that all travel to outside the country will be shut down till April 30.
This is a petition you can sign:
