(ch. 11 Review) Tom Not Knowing The Pupils In The Year Below Him.. He Was So Me As A Prefect Im Dead.
(ch. 11 review) — tom not knowing the pupils in the year below him.. he was so me as a prefect im dead. ahhh i absolutely love the tom x ruby duo sm, im glad their back to their mischief 😙 tom wanting her to speak to someone about what she saw, what do you know about not bottling things up??? also the calming drought potion moment mirrors remus and harry’s moment with the chocolate it’s so cute (but also hello indirect kiss??). tom being petty over the malfoys pt. 34, we love to see it ! riddle taunting harry… (hot.) bloody riddle… (hot.) omg harry managed to expelliarmus him, good job hazzah!!! ugh nott is so annoying can you just butt out, you’re 15/16 bro, focus on your owls ALL OF YOU !! but lowkey harry not rising to dracos bait… slay king or wtv
(also idk if this was your intention but i’m lowkey lowkey shipping ruby and tom 😬😬)
I love Ruby and Tom's dynamic as well and had some nostalgia for them being on their collective bullshit from TNG so that was my motivation for that scene. And yes, what would Tom know about not bottling things up? I didn't think of that as an indirect kiss while writing but you're right.
I'm glad you enjoyed the duelling scene! I'm finding out that's what takes me the longest to write (even more than Quidditch scenes). Tom swears up and down that he *let* Harry disarm him though. Sometimes I wonder if there's too much blood in RFMD and then I realise it's reaching its intended audience lol.
"Focus on your owls" -- yes, this (what Daphne said to Nott and Malfoy, too)! You know how much Nott loves to stick his nose into everyone's business (as the self-proclaimed #1 eavesdropper). And yes the *character development* from Harry as he very slowly learns to deal with his anger problems, we love that for him.
Mmmm... yeah... shipping. Full disclosure, in very, very early drafts of RFMD, that was originally a thing I experimented with, but I ended up scrapping that because it felt like making dolls kiss when I wrote it, but that might be because I'm not a romance writer at heart. So they definitely have that lingering in the DNA of their dynamic.

Hii my question would be, do you believe Voldemort incapable to love because of the love potion? I always had the feeling he was very cold and not interested in any kind of connection that doesn't serve his ambition but reading your posts I thought you might have spotted something I haven't
Thank youu!:)
Hello!
I think Voldemort not only is capable of love but that he is desperate for a human connection but has no idea how to get it. I believe that's what motivated him to speak to Slughorn about Horcruxes, for example. He is also clearly invested in relationships between his followers. He does care for Nagini, he shows actual regret and pain at having to kill Severus. He screams in anguish when Bellatrix dies. I don't think he's really cold, he just, has a pretty skewed concept of friendship and family (as a man who never had either). And he's incredibly prideful and has little to no give in his relationships.
I talk about this more here, here, and here.

Chapter Eleven: Brewing Conflict

Beside her, Harry’s potion looked alright, but Ron, at the bench with Hermione, nervously surveyed the contents of his cauldron, which was spitting green sparks. Hermione’s was the exact purple as the textbook’s, but her hair had erupted into a halo of frizz as she bent painstakingly over her work.
Just as she reached for some stewed mandrake, Malfoy cleared his throat.
“Still planning to make good on your threat, Potter? What was it you said?” He turned around halfway with a razor-sharp smile, eying her like a shark. “You’d be watching me?”
Ruby forced herself to say nothing, even as Harry stilled beside her, pausing mid-stir for a second.
Seven times clockwise seven times clockwise seven times clockwise.
She needed to focus on the potion. Not Malfoy’s taunts, not Nott listening with his head cocked, wide-eyed with voyeuristic interest.
“Poor baby Potter,” Malfoy went on, voice lilting as if he were singing a lullaby, leaning closer. “Nearly driven mad by her visions.”
He made a grotesque face, tongue lolling out of his mouth, and eyes rolled back into his head so that all Ruby could see were the red-streaked whites. Nott hastily reached over to turn down the heat on Malfoy’s unattended cauldron, and Ruby wished there was some way she could do the same to her simmering anger.
“Shut up,” snapped Harry. “Leave her alone.”
“What’s wrong?” asked Malfoy, head tilted, all faux-concern. “Jumping at shadows?”
Nott’s shoulders shook with amusement.
Ruby and T.M. Riddle spy on Malfoy and Nott following the Snitch incident. Dumbledore supervises Harry's extra lessons. Brewing the Draught of Peace in Double Potions brings anything but relaxation. Read from the beginning at FFN|AO3!
AO3 / ff.net + Artstation 'concept artist' scam
FYI, I personally know two people who got scam comments from the same AO3 account today alone. They were very similar to the ff.net comments in this reddit post, and go something like:
As a concept artist, I really enjoyed your story! The characters were compelling, and the plot kept me engaged from start to finish. Your writing has so much depth, and I could really envision the world you’ve created. While reading, I got some ideas for potential artwork to bring your characters or key scenes to life. I’d love to chat more about a possible collaboration if you’re interested
The main difference between this and a previous wave of similar comments is that this is from a logged-in account as opposed to a guest.
I can't send a support ticket because I haven't gotten any comments from this particular account. Obviously, AO3 volunteers don't need to be flooded with more support tickets right now, anyway, and I'm sure other people have already reported this user. But do yourself a favor and just block Evelynaddison92 on AO3 like I'm about to. The account is 100% a scammer, and there are certainly more accounts like this on AO3, but that's the only one I know of atm.
people always talk about leaving comments on ao3 like it's a nice thing to do, or the best way to encourage writers to keep writing, or overall like it's how you Do Your Part in fandom
and yeah, all those things are true, but having spent the past few months leaving enthusiastic comments on as many things as i can, i have a different perspective
you should leave comments on fics because it's fun
taking the time to stop and focus on what i like about a story has made me way more aware of what's going on in stories and what i like about them. there's bit more actual comprehension and appreciation and not just beaming content into my eyes to fill time
i like noticing cool little things in fics, or riffing on funny events. i've never been very good at speculating or picking apart characters, but sometimes something clicks and it rocks.
and of course it's pretty nice when you get a response and it's clear you've made another person happy
so yeah, you should leave comments for your own sake, too. it makes reading better!
