Shazam! (2019) / Birds of Prey (2020)

The first Barbie, released in 1959 as you all probably know, was at first marketed as a « doll to help create a world of identity for girls of all ages ».

As another photo will show, she was marketed for girls of 8 to 80 years old, and was a high quality fashion model doll, she was meant to be dressed then displayed on her pedestal. I came across this photo of a #1 Barbie from 1959 with her box and accessories, and a little (what seems to be) cardboard piece with the proper way to flex the joints of the doll when first out of the box. I’m amazed at the level of quality and dedication of the first dolls, and that little notice shows it. How to properly care for your doll. And I think they were hand drawn too !

I wish we had more dolls like this today, and I thank the companies that do try to make high quality dolls today, because it’s quite something today, where everything is manufactured in such high quantity, and the more cheaper and cost efficient the better.

So I’m going to continue sharing my love for vintage dolls, even if they are reproduction I think they look stunning, and thank you all for taking the time to check out my blog. We really are an awesome community here oh tumblr !
