Chen Wei (陈维), Night Paris (2015) and The Idol Behind the Curtain (2009). Photography.

Beijing-based photographer Chen Wei was born in Zhejiang province in 1980. His creative career began with experimental music, and later evolved into photography. Often using his close friends as models for his works, Chen believes there is no difference in whether it is himself or his friends who stand before the lens. What makes each photograph come alive is the theatricality of the backdrop and manipulation of the angle from which it is shot. His inspirations come from current affairs in the news or novels he is reading, aiming to explore a single topic under multiple interpretations.
