Here's My First Piece For Artfight 2022!

Here's my first piece for Artfight 2022!

This character belongs to the user Sorrelpool, on team Bloom! Their name is Bicho, and is a Hollow Knight OC.

Critique is very much welcome! And my notes on the process for making this are under the cut!

For this one I decided to emulate the coloring style I used when drawing Silas a few days ago, to see how much faster I could make something. Only this time, I was able to use gradients and more layer modes as the app wasn't struggling to process more than five layers.

While I did not change anything major about the character's design, I added more details to the bandanna and mask/helm.

I'm not fond of most elements of Star Wars, but Anakin/Vader is an angsty little drama queen and I love and hate him for it in equal measure.

Notes:

This took 5 hours and 20 minutes, over an hour of which was spent drawing and redrawing the face until I got something okay.

That is the best hand I have ever drawn, and even so, I refused to draw every mechanism in the forearm.

The linework gives me Castlevania vibes. It wasn't intentional, but it looks good. (:

I just spent a week watching all of the currently available Drawtectives episodes for this first time. Have an Ancestral Ghost! (:

I'm a fairly new fan of Drawfee, and put off watching the Drawtectives stuff because I didn't want to invest a lot of time into a series, but I'm glad I eventually did! I really adore Julia's character designs, and Jancy True is one of my favorites. (:

Until and into Artfight, I want to put a bit more effort into making my pieces a bit more varied and interesting. In this case, it meant changing up the angle of the portrait, and including the more dynamic lighting and simple background. As mentioned prior, critique is very much welcome! I feel like I've been a bit stagnant in my progress recently, and want to push myself more.

Reminder that Techno loved fan works created about him so if your on the fence thinking "if I create fan content about his character would it be wrong?" The answer? No. Keep his legacy going

Here's some friendly fire for @catbatart, and their OC Däzzler! I really like colorful undead characters, and glowing eyes, so I drew this guy.

I think this took about 3 and a half hours, but I'm not entirely sure.

The plan was that his head would be tilted up, but I didn't nail the perspective in the right spots.

Somehow I accidentally made him look like Dr. Frank-n-Furter, but I'm not too mad.
