You cannot put the human experience into a box without ultimately excluding humans and including non-humans. It's impossible. Legitimately.

Nothing you say is a solely human experience is actually a human experience. You can say "Love makes us human" but ultimately you are excluding loveless people and including many animals, such as elephants which are known to die of grief if their mate dies. Or even your dog who loves you unconditionally. Is your dog human? You can sex is what makes us human. But sex is something that occurs in nearly every animal. It's probably the stupidest thing you could say "makes us human" because then your categorizing every animal who has ever fucked as "human" and every human who has not fucked as "not human" I guess Nuns are an entirely different species then! you can say out social connections to each other is what makes us human but then you're ignoring all the animals that have complex social structures and the introverts and isolationist people who thrive alone. You can say it is cooking but there are a billion people out there who can't cook and they aren't any less human. And what happens if another species learns to cook? that doesn't make that species human. If anything cooking is only really a trait of more sentient species. You can say Music is what makes us human but birds sing all the time. Animals will make noises for fun. And not everyone makes or experiences music. You can say art is what makes us human but majority of people don't make art. a lot of people can't make art. and many animals have made art. You can say language makes us human but what about the animals with complex ways of communicating with each other? is that not a language within itself? It's not as complex as our languages but they still communicate through sounds or body language.

basically no matter what you say you will always exclude humans and include non-humans in your attempt to classify what makes the human experience. Honestly, I don't think we should or even need to classify the human experience. We are human just because we put that label to ourselves based on genetic similarities we all share and use those to call ourselves a species. The fact is that the human experience is complicated and diverse and beautiful.

and yeah it might seem nice to think we all share one thing in common but personally, for me, I find the fact that no two people are exactly alike to be wonderful. The fact so many people can experience similar things and still be different. the fact that some people experience the world completely differently than others. Isn't that beautiful in of itself? Isn't that a more interesting world than one where a single word is supposed to encapsulate the entire experience. isn't it better to connect with each other over our differences than our similarities?

Stop trying to classify the un-classifiable. Take a deep breath and let yourself experience life and understand your your experience is human. everyone's experience is human. Humanity is better when you let it out of the box.

; fr fr like

; best friends to woah what's this !? Even better best friends but now with shared and understood trauma.

; enemies to forced to fight side by side and they DO NOT fall in love ( at least not romantically come on 😒😒 ).

; strangers to best friends who platonically raise a weirdo kid they found and adopted ( possibly god reincarnated we don't know yet )

; rivals to god dammit I actually enjoy your company .. Wanna be friends ?? :/ ( yes is the answer )

; strangers to chaotic evil and chaotic good lab partners / evil mad scientists

; best friends to enemies, etc. The list goes on.

Pick any romance trope and erase the romance from it. Peak character dynamic

; give me a second to put some bells on my bedroom door without seeming suspicious wait !?? ( this actually might be really helpful .. !! /gen )

for my fellow psychotics who struggle with thinking someone is in their house, a method I’ve found that really works are these guys:

For My Fellow Psychotics Who Struggle With Thinking Someone Is In Their House, A Method Ive Found That

i put them on my front door and anytime it opens they ring. that way if i think someone has broken in or i see someone who isn’t there i can think back to if the bells have rung, and if they haven’t i can assure myself it’s not real. obviously it’s not fool proof, like if you are prone to auditory hallucinations, but it has really helped me calm down in time to avoid major psychotic breaks. it’s a real lifesaver

nonpsychotics encouraged to rb
