The casually gathered thoughts, musings, and writings of a feral old woman.40s, Black, Puerto Rican, neurodivergent, atheist/ex-christian, cis gendered, heterosexual, heteroromantic, allosexual, sex positive, disabled; survivor since childhood STILL stubbornly continuing to survive.Always learning. I'm Trying My Hardest Not To Use Ableist Slurs Or Pejoratives Anymore.

I'm trying my hardest not to use ableist slurs or pejoratives anymore.

It's hard. Insults attached to intellect seemed to be the most effective to use against my abusive, fascist father, growing up. The one thing I could call him that would make him and his enablers pause a moment and actually think.

Yet, there's no denying that there are plenty of "dumb", "stupid", "idiotic", "delusional" people who have excellent and kind hearts, and who don't let their insecurities and fears control them in the way that most bigots do.

There are people who suffer from "delusions", yet they DO understand that they are having themโ€ฆpeople who nonetheless still care about what the truth is, and who therefore do their absolute best to deal with life and with others with reason and compassionโ€ฆ people who are "delusional", yet wind up doing even better at logic and accepting reality than those who are considered "normal" or "sane".

People who are purposefully ignorant, proudly bigoted, or wilfully cruel?

Those types of folk deserve far, FAR less regard than people who are simply disabled or clinically mad.

URGENT SURGERY

We're out of the ER my gallbladder needs to be extirpated. They sent us back home cause we don't have the money to pay.

We need a bit over $30,000 pesos.

We went to a small clinic it is cheaper than the last hospital I got checked a while back.

Please please I can't stand the pain we have 7 people depending on me and my partner. I'm just really scared.

I'm so sorry I got sick, I'm so sorry I tried to wing it, I'm so sorry I got worse I'm so sorry I have to beg for help I know it's a terrible time to be asking

I can offer a doodle or a charm when I get better after surgery I just have all examples on my Ko-fi please check it.

Payโ€ขpal

Koโ€ขfi

We still need help to feed all of us, pay bills, care for the cats and get the repairs done. Black mold is taking over.

Here's previous post for details and to keep track of our situation.

I feel like yall don't know bout earthships??

An earthship is a building that's built out of recycled materials (glass bottles, old tires, cans, etc..) and mostly Cob walls with solarpanels, wind turbines, greenhouses, and large water capture system to ensure all you need within the walls. All these components help regulate the temp for both plants and you creating a proper oasis from all of itnall

Here's a good dissection of one to give you an idea

I Feel Like Yall Don't Know Bout Earthships??

The most famous one, and one of the first ones ever made back in the 1970s by a small off grid group working together is The Phoenix which was built as the model for how cool these guys could be its now a place you can take tours or rent-

I Feel Like Yall Don't Know Bout Earthships??
I Feel Like Yall Don't Know Bout Earthships??
I Feel Like Yall Don't Know Bout Earthships??
I Feel Like Yall Don't Know Bout Earthships??
I Feel Like Yall Don't Know Bout Earthships??

But now there is so many different styles and cool ideas for it! Now some of these are merely concepts

I Feel Like Yall Don't Know Bout Earthships??
I Feel Like Yall Don't Know Bout Earthships??
I Feel Like Yall Don't Know Bout Earthships??
I Feel Like Yall Don't Know Bout Earthships??

But you can adapt them to any weather for your particular light/weather/energy conditions.

The main thing about Earthships is typically they are illegal to build as the US government considers them waste sites due to the materials their built out of.

Book Bans Are On The Rise Across The US, But Even If You Want To Go Read And Buy As Many Books With LGBT+

Book bans are on the rise across the US, but even if you want to go read and buy as many books with LGBT+ representation as you can get your greedy little hands on--it's hard to know what you don't know :/

The Queer Books Database lists over 3,500+ fiction and non-fiction titles in a google docs spreadsheet that lets you search by representation, or just by age, genre, year published, and more. It doesn't just track LGBT+ rep but also tags for people of color, disability, mental health, neurodivergence, fat rep, older characters, and religion!

You can use the database to search for:

multiple identities at once--find rep for a schizophrenic asexual lesbian, an autistic black boy, or a non-binary soldier with tinnitus

age appropriate books--search for children's books, junior chapter books, teen titles, and YA

non-fiction education--this includes biographies and memoirs, self-help, mental health, sexual education, LGBT+ history, legal resources, and affirming spiritual texts

trope/setting/time period--get a list of ghostly paranormals, queer fiction set in africa, gay regency romances, enemies-to-lovers, dark academia, and tons more!

Using the database, supporting my patreon, or buying me a ko-fi also really helps out the autistic transgender librarian who put this all together during the pandemic! Please share and reblog if you can~

It's so weird talking to people who's view of "here's the way life is for everyone" is shattered as soon as they talk to someone with disabilities (physical, mental illness, any). Like you'll say you'll have a problem and instead of helping you they'll argue with you about how you're not actually facing that problem. Like,

Me: Hey, I'm really struggling to find a job and a part of it is my resume. I was depressed & psychotic during highschool so I didn't do anything to gain skills or achievements to put on my resume. I also don't have anyone to put as a reference. What can I do?

Them: You can add your skills, hobbies, clubs you're in, and different volunteer work you've done! You can also get your teacher as a reference.

Me: I already know what to put on a resume, my issue is that I don't have things that I can use. Also, I'm in my mid 20s so I don't know if I can put my highschool teacher as a reference.

Them: Well if you're a part of a church or an activity group, you could add that. Also, think of any projects you've worked on in the past.

Me: I already know you can put these things on a resume. I'm not looking for suggests of things I've already done, I'm looking for what I can do now if I haven't done anything.

Them: There's no way you didn't do anything during highschool?? What about some odd jobs you definitely did for extra money, like babysitting or mowing the lawn?

Me: I spent all of highschool either in modified classes or in bed doing nothing - not even hobbies, what about that do you not understand?

And then you talk to someone who's also disabled and they're like "Here's a bunch of jobs you can do from home that don't pay much but look good on a resume, here's some free online courses that also look good on a resume, here's how you can be making small amounts of money in the meantime, here's some things you can put besides a professional reference, and here are your rights if your future employer tries to take advantage of your disability - which you probably shouldn't tell them about unless you need accommodations."

And suddenly my will to continue trying returns!
