Did Anyone Trick Anybody For Halloween? Like A House Get Tpd? Egged? Jumpscared Anybody?
Did anyone trick anybody for Halloween? Like a house get tp’d? Egged? Jumpscared anybody?
I can see Thomas tricking people.
James: 😈😈😈
Edward: We’re never getting invited to another Halloween party again. Not even our own.
James: I mixed the skittles and the m&ms.
Thomas: I stuffed ice down Gordon’s shirt at one point. And I spooked Henry hiding around the corner once or twice.
Henry: Five… Times…
Thomas: 🤫 Numbers are for nerds
Camille: We all tp’d Sir Topham Hatt’s office last night and so if anyone is wondering why we’re up extra early… oh and I convinced Gordon to hand out candy for kiddos WITH his costume on and when the teenagers started coming around he decided costumes were stupid, again, and put the bowl in front of his shed and when they went for it the doors would fly open and he’d whistle at them and charge them for a brief second. Nothing like nearly being run over to scare the crap out of some kids. 🙄
Gordon: It’ll teach them the holiday is for kids, grow up. You don’t need candy anyway. It rots your teeth.
Camille: Says the man with a hidden stash of butterscotch candies in our bedroom. 😏
Gordon: Woman! 😤 Those are Doncaster made and they’re different. I didn’t dress up for those, you got them for me.

Happy Halloween sorry I didn't do it yesterday.
James: Halloween is forever!! Happy Halloween!!
Camille: That’s OK! Happy Halloween! Did you still want candy? We have extras. Just don’t grab from the bowl… James here mixed m&m’s and skittles. 😒
James: MWAHAHAHA!!

I might have made more… I might have a problem. Scotsman, Henry, Hiro, and Camille!
Sooo… as I posted previously I’ve been messing around with AI for both fun and then for also aide in writing my fic. But recently I used an AI to create my characters, and I know there’s a battle between artists and AI but I can’t draw so I wanted to use it. Anyway, so far I’ve created my Edward, James, and Gordon. So here those beauties are!

Obviously since they’re made by AI they aren’t perfect by any means. I had another image of Edward and it had a beautiful background but the AI gave him 3 arms for… reasons??? Anyway, here is pretty much close to perfect for all 3 of these characters. Also, James should be raven haired but it couldn’t do the red highlights for whatever reason so I just went with red hair and now I can’t see him the other way. 🤷🏽♀️ Also The AI for Gordon i literally put in “Henry Cavill” as a reference point… sooooooo…. yeah.

More to come!!
Should I start posting my fanfiction chapters on here?
Chapter 2 - Sodor
Camille’s drive from the mainland to Sodor with The Flying Scotsman, or Scot as he asked her to call him, was a lot of fun. They laughed and joked and may have done a tiny race that their drivers quickly scolded them for. They matched each other's energy quite well.
“So what’s it like on Sodor? Any engines I should be wary of?” Camille asked.
Scot laughed, “Well I’ve heard there’s a diesel on the island that’s a bit mischievous and a couple of brothers here and there that are pranksters, twins I’ve been told, but other than that no.”
Camille mocked horror, “Oh, no! Brothers, say it ain’t so! My weakness, more brothers!”
Scot raised an eyebrow at her, “Now c'mon, brothers aren’t that bad.”
Camille chuckled, “No of course not. Not until you try to do something on your own and then your own personal fleet of older brothers come out of nowhere like hawks.”
Scot laughed, “I wouldn’t know that feeling. My brother usually just grumbles and groans when I’m around.”
Camille glanced at him sadly, “I’m sorry to hear that. That must be rough.”
Scot scoffed jokingly, “Don’t fret, my brother and I live for teasing each other. He’s too easy to tease, he’s always so serious. He gets a little jealous of my fame. But really I think he’s mainly jealous because I’m the taller brother.”
“Is he older than you?” Camille asked.
Scot grinned, “Yes, yes he is.”
Camille laughed, “Well that’s why he grumbles and groans. Not only are you extroverted and famous, but you’re taller as well. Poor baby. At least tell me he’s handsome so you didn’t take his looks either.”
“Oh he’s handsome alright. People have often thought of us as twins in our human form. That annoyed him as well so I changed my hair. But I don’t think it changed much and well, Gordon is a bit prideful.” Scot replied.
“Gordon? That’s a very gentlemanly name. Feels tough too.” Camille said.
“He is that when he wants to be.” Scot sighed reflectively, “There are days, especially now that we can walk and do things off the rails, that I wish we could just take the time to really be brothers again. But I fear we’d get on one another’s nerves too quickly.”
Camille watched as the big engine seemed in sad reflection. He looked back at her with a grin though, “However I wouldn’t call him a poor baby, as you said earlier, if I were you. But if you don’t mind, I might use that one day.”
She laughed, “Be my guest. If he’s as big as you but full on grumpy mode he might decide to eat me if I teased him too hard.”
That got Scot laughing again, “You know Camille, I think I’m going to be a bit sad you aren’t on the mainland with me. I think you’re going to be a lot of fun to have around.”
——
When they got to Vicarstown it was already later in the day. Scot had said normally Gordon and some of the other engines would be there but taking a closer look at the time, they had already been missed. Scot was picking up several passengers to head back to the mainland and while he waited for them to load up, he invited Camille to take her human form with him to stretch their legs for a bit. Their drivers and firemen were eager to get to the nice staff room as well.
Scot was huge compared to her. With her barely hitting 5’ he was easily over 7’ with three wheels on each leg. His dark green and brown hair was a messy part to the right. His eyes were like dark chocolate and warm to look at. The three piece suit and tie that matched his livery… His handsome features threw Camille back into reality of just exactly who she had just spent the afternoon with.
She felt a little insecure with her long hair that was probably a mess with very casual clothes on.
“You’re blushing, spitfire.” He teased leaning in towards her face.
She covered her face with her hand, embarrassed, and used the other to push his face away, “Warn someone before you get all handsome.”
He laughed, “But this is just my face, I can’t help it.”
As they laughed and teased each other a bit more, a man in a black suit and hat approached the two with a rather large smile on his face.
“The Yellow Rose of Texas, I presume? Welcome to Sodor, I am Sir Topham Hatt.” He said.
“Hello, sir!” She said, messing with her hair trying to look more presentable, “I would’ve met you in my engine form but, Scot here was kind enough to let me stretch my legs after such a long journey.”
“That’s quite alright, my dear.” Sir Topham Hatt chuckled, “I am just happy you arrived safely and soundly. Thomas, one of the engines you’ll be working with, will be here shortly to show you the way back to Tidmouth Shed where you’ll be living from now on. I’ll have your luggage taken there as well.” He motioned to two men in blue suits who grabbed Camille’s duffle and backpack and walked to where the cars were parked with them.
“This is all so exciting!” Camille said, bouncing a little, “I’m glad you were ever so kind to let me stay.”
“No trouble at all my dear. I was more than happy to help, given your situation.”
Camille smiled a little sadly, which wasn’t missed by Scotsman.
The Fat Controller cleared his throat and was about to speak again when a high whistle sounded. A blue tank engine pulled up alongside them. He was very perky and had kind eyes.
“Ah! Thomas! Right on schedule.” Sir Topham said, “Camille, this is Thomas. Thomas, Camille.”
“How do you do, Camille?” Thomas greeted.
“I’m doing fine, Thomas. A pleasure to meet you.” She smiled back.
“Well, I think you’re well taken care of from here.” Scot said with his hands at his hips, “My fireman and driver will be back soon. So I guess this is farewell for now, spitfire.”
Camille turned to him, “Thank you so much, Scot. It was amazing to meet up.”
The Flying Scotsman bowed, “The pleasure was mine, m’lady.” He beamed at her, “But in case you become depressed because you can’t see this handsome face anymore,” he slipped a piece of paper in her hand, “don’t hesitate to call.” He winked.
Camille shook her head but smiled, opening the paper to reveal a phone number. She chuckled, “OK hotshot, I won’t hesitate.”
He waved as he walked back to the beginning of the train, “Oh before I forget,” he turned and placed his chin in the elbow of his thumb and pointer finger, “When you do meet Gordon and he does step in it, because he absolutely will, don't hesitate to tell him to behave and be nice. He needs to be a nice little brother.” And with a wink and a skip in his step, Scotsman dusted himself into his engine form, was coupled to his train, and given the signal to leave.
As he sounded his whistle and left, Camille waved and ended up clutching the phone number to her chest. Whether he ended up being more than a friend later or otherwise, Camille was just happy to have someone that was so willing to be her friend.
Sir Topham Hatt cleared his throat and directed her to the rails where Thomas had turned around, “Shall we?”
Camille nodded happily, stuffed Scot’s number in her pocket, and heartily jumped to the tracks as an engine.
——
Camille and Thomas talked a little about America as they drove to the sheds. Thomas was very open and energetic, revealing how he one day would love to travel the world. Camille couldn’t share his enthusiasm but enjoyed listening to him nonetheless.
As they were approaching Tidmouth Sheds, Sir Topham Hatt asked her if she could stop by his office to finish a bit more paperwork before she was introduced to the rest of the team. Tired, but more than willing to comply, Camille did so, parting ways with Thomas just before the Sheds.
He was eager to return to the others to gloat about Camille and how he got to meet her first.
When they arrived at the office building she noticed a large manor shortly in the distance. It read Tidmouth Manor on it and Camille assumed that’s where the engines slept if not in the sheds, or perhaps it was the workers.
Sir Topham Hatt left her on the rails and asked her fireman and driver to come inside to finish the paperwork. This gave Camille time to shift once more to walk off the nerves building up again. As she shifted she felt a ping and a vibration from her phone. It was a large, unknown number that she quickly realized was European. The text simply stated:
“Go get ‘em, spitfire 🔥”
She smiled brightly at the phone, saving the contact as Scotty Boy, she sent back a text: “You know it 😎”
She returned to her engine form, not wanting to delay any further when the men returned. The paperwork was completed and it was time to follow Sir Topham Hatt to the Sheds.
——
Camille drove to Tidmouth Sheds following Sir Topham Hatt in his blue car. Upon arriving she saw all the berths were occupied, some of the engines were small like her but the majority were larger.
As she approached the turntable all eyes went to her. She couldn’t help but feel her cheeks warm up and her boiler felt tight. She glanced from one to the other with a warm smile, hoping to make a good first impression.
Sir Topham Hatt pulled his car aside and waited as she stopped on the turntable. He smiled at his team and then to her.
“Everyone, this is Camille. She’s the newest member of our team flown all the way from the United States. I expect you to all be welcoming to her.” He turned to face her as he waved his hands at the engines, “Camille, this is Emily, Percy, Thomas you met earlier, Edward, James, Gordon, and Henry.”
“Howdy!” She said cheerfully.
Some of the engines smiled and blew a friendly whistle at her. Sir Topham Hatt continued, “Camille, your berth isn’t finished yet, but there is plenty of space at the manor if you find the sheds booked.” He turned to face Thomas and Percy, “Thomas, Percy, you two will help Camille tomorrow in between your own jobs. Help her learn her way around shunting trucks and coaches.”
“Yes sir!”
“Of course, sir.”
Sir Topham Hatt turned one last time to Camille wishing her a goodnight and then returned to his car and left, her fireman and driver in tow. They both wished her a wonderful night and said they’d see her in the morning.
“So, Camille, what part of the states are you from?” Emily asked, breaking the ice.
“Oh! I’m from Texas! Back there I was known as The Yellow Rose of Texas.”
“Ooooooo, sounds famous.” James said in a teasing manner.
Camille chuckled nervously, “I mean, I guess I am. I am the first steam engine built in a long time, back in the nineties anyway.”
Everyone’s eyes widened at that statement.
“Holy cow you’re young!” Thomas shouted.
“Thomas!” Edward scolded.
“I’m not the youngest anymore!” Percy pipped.
“Well, I’m not a baby! I’ve been around for 3 decades.” Camille said a little flustered.
James snickered, “Oh, just three decades. Yeah. You’re baby.”
Camille frowned at him, “Rude.”
“I get to be that way, with age comes rights to be so.” James smirked.
Camille thought and then smirked back, “You’re right, you’re right. I was raised to be a lady and to be respectful to my elders, grandpa.”
With that James stopped and spluttered, “What did you call me??”
That got the others chuckling.
“Oh I’m sorry,” Camille said teasing, “It’s just if you’re going to call me baby then I figured I’d call you something similar to your age range. Or was it that you didn’t like ‘grandpa’? Shall I call you, Pawpaw or Pappy instead?”
The other engines laughed at that. James was beginning to turn as red as his paintwork. With a “hmph” he quickly dusted into his human form and walked forward proudly. He was a young man in this form, athletic build, with black hair with red streaks. As Camille watched him, she noticed just about everything on his body was red. Red coat, red slacks, his nice red wheels on his outside legs.
He flipped his hair at her, “Take a close look!” He grinned at her, “You’re looking at eternal youth! Always exceptionally beautiful.”
Edward sighed tiredly at James’ vanity. Gordon groaned and rolled his eyes. Thomas just shook his head.
Camille smiled. She quickly took her own human form. Sure, she was shorter than him by several inches, but she pranced right up to him. James had started laughing at her height, but before he could do anything she was right in his bubble.
“Wh-what??” He asked as he took a step back.
“Hmm…” She squinted at him and did a full circle around. She grinned as she grabbed a stray hair off his shoulder, “A-ha!”
She held the hair up, “Grey hair.”
James shrieked in outrage causing some of the others to flinch and others to laugh, “W-w-whaat?! No, you’re lying!”
Camille smiled and let the hair loose, “I’m only teasing. You are quite handsome and youthful, but you’re easily wound up.”
By this time, Edward, Thomas, Percy, and Emily had taken human form and were walking towards the two. Henry and Gordon watched them. Henry glanced at Gordon with a soft smile and then shifted. Gordon grumbled, but followed.
Edward consoled James, promising him there’s no other gray hairs. Thomas and Percy bounced question after question at her, while Emily tried to slow them down.
“What’s Texas like?”
“Do you know any Cowboys?”
“How come you go by Camille instead of The Yellow Rose of Texas?”
“Can you say ‘y’all come back now, ya here’?”
Camille laughed with each question unable to answer due to the rapid fire.
“Thomas! Percy! Give her some space!” Emily scolded them.
“Thomas does raise a good point though.” The booming voice of Gordon stopped everyone. Camille swallowed as she glanced in the bigger engines direction. Gordon was tall, and worse for Camille, he was handsome just like Scotsman had said: muscles, blue hair that matched his tender slicked back save a few hairs, and a pair of steely eyes. If it weren’t for the snooty look, the brothers could’ve been twins. A deadly combination, she thought to herself. No wonder Scotsman warned me.
He towered over her, seemingly unimpressed yet amused at her small stature, arms folded across his chest, “It’s not like we need another engine, let alone such a little one. What are you doing here and how really useful could someone so small really be?”
“Gordon!” Edward yelled, annoyed, “That’s no way to talk to our new teammate.”
Camille felt small compared to the other engines but she felt really minuscule compared to Gordon. Part of her was ready to retaliate at his rude comment, but the other part of her ached at the reminder of why she was here to begin with. Her builder and father was dead, her siblings sending her away… for a while in the excitement she had almost forgotten.
While Emily and Edward were scolding Gordon, who defiantly went back and forth with them, Percy noticed Camille’s quietness.
“Uh, Camille, are you alright?” He asked gently.
Camille startled a little but gave a soft smile to him and then turned back to the bigger engine. She decided to try and be tough, pushing threatening tears and sadness back.
She gave him a firm glare, “I’m here because this is where I’m needed to be. I don’t know you from Jack, sir, and frankly with your attitude I don’t have to tell you the details of why I’m here.”
Gordon looked taken aback by her words and new demeanor. Before he could reply she continued.
“I know you think your hot stuff, good looks and a body to boot, but I know a little bit about you Gordon. Your brother told me about you on my way here and he wasn’t far off the mark with how you’d respond about having someone new around.”
The other engines got quiet and looked back and forth between the two. Whether Camille knew it or not, Gordon and Scotsman’s relationship was a bit of a taboo subject at the sheds. A small pressure point could be seen on his face and his eye twitched a bit at the mention of his brother.
“Oh, really?” Gordon said through clenched teeth, “What else did my brother say to you?”
Camille smirked, “Well for one, I will say that Scotsman was a far better gentleman to me then you are acting right now. So, he’s got you there.”
An arrow pierced Gordon’s ego.
“He warned me that you were a prideful, old man with delusions of grandeur.” She said stabbingly, “I had hoped that it was just the normal brotherly teasing, but I see he wasn’t wrong. Don’t you think it’s a bit rude to ask ‘why I’m here’” she said in a mimicking deep voice, “in such a way? Had you asked kindly I would’ve felt more comfortable to respond.”
Despite her situation, Camille was feeling bold if not a bit triggered. Somehow with just that statement and questions, Gordon had gotten under her skin. A little bit of the frustrations of her current life situation had spilled forth.
Gordon’s eye was twitching very obviously at that point with an aggravated look on his face.
Camille turned her back to him, arms folded over her chest, “Oh and I have a message from your brother.” She turned around and posed in the exact same way Scot had earlier that day, “Do be kind to her, little brother.”
And with that, Camille turned back towards Emily and Thomas who were struggling, and failing, to hold in their laughter, “Can I go to my room now please? I’d love to see the manor.” She smiled brightly at them.
“Certainly,” Emily said, clearing her throat and regaining her composure, “It’ll be nice to have another girl on the team.”
Thomas followed behind before turning back to call to Gordon, “Have a good night’s sleep, little brother!”
Gordon was seething. Never had anyone ever taken a tone like that to him. He hadn’t been this irritated since Thomas was constantly waking him from his naps and that had been a while ago. Thomas’ snippy comment wasn’t about to be forgotten either.
Edward sighed and smiled, “Maybe next time be a little kinder Gordon.” He turned to James, “I’m gonna sleep in the manor tonight. If Camille stays up a little longer I’d like to get to know her, make her feel more at home.”
He left with James at his heels.
That left Percy with Henry and Gordon. He watched the group leave and then spoke up. “I overheard Sir Topham Hatt talking with Camille’s fireman and driver about her.” This pulled Henry’s attention from calming Gordon and Gordon looked at Percy.
“Her builder, who was like a father to her, died and the people wanted to scrap her.”
Henry gasped and Gordon flinched. That stopped Gordon’s anger from rising and it dissipated as Percy continued, “She’s got some brothers, but apparently they have good standings wherever they are. They found out how us Steamies are safe here on Sodor and had her sent here. I didn’t hear much else and I felt bad for overhearing, but she sure seemed sad on the platform. Thomas told me that The Flying Scotsman was there at Vicarstown with her and she was smiling and laughing, but her eyes… she just felt a little distant.”
Percy took his engine form again, seeing his fireman and driver pulling up, “Maybe go easy on her, Gordon. She’s lost a lot in just a few days. I know I would be scared if I were her.”
Henry looked at Gordon, who couldn’t look him in the eyes. While many of the engines looked at each other as family and teammates, hardly any of them really talked about or even knew their real family with the exception of Gordon and James. James never talks about his siblings and what he went through with them except to Edward, but Gordon’s family and their trials were fairly common knowledge.
Henry gave him a gentle pat on the shoulder, before changing back and backing into his berth.
That left Gordon alone with his thoughts. He looked toward the manor and heard some of the laughter from the others. Not often did Gordon feel remorse for his actions, but this was one of those times. He had really stuck his foot in his mouth this time.
“Bah…” He said, frustrated with himself as he shifted back to his machine form in his berth. He’d worry about working with Camille and what he’d say to her tomorrow.
——
Inside the manor, the five engines were laughing and getting to know one another. Edward had promptly gotten James to apologize which Camille accepted. After some ice breaking questions, Camille found she had common ground with all four in some manner. James and her both loved superheroes, Superman to be specific, and she had promised to introduce him to the character Deadpool. Edward, Emily and her all loved reading books and had agreed to possibly do a little book club amongst the three of them. Then there was Thomas, he and her both loved video games. When Camille opened her duffle to reveal a Nintendo Switch, Thomas just about lost his mind.
But with the night growing darker and Camille finding herself growing exceptionally tired after a day or two without real sleep, the group decided to call it a night. There was a long L shaped hallway of bedrooms and bathrooms.
Emily gave Camille a general layout, “Starting here at the beginning of the corridor, there’s a bathroom on the left and then my room across from it. Here at the intersection will be your bedroom, and then down the hall there is Edward on the left, James on the right, Thomas next to James, and then Gordon’s room on the end. His room also has a bathroom in case this one is occupied. Just give his door a knock.”
“What about Preston and Harry?”
“Percy and Henry?” Emily corrected, “They have bedrooms downstairs since they do night shift runs. That way they don’t wake us and we don’t wake them.”
“Why does Gordon have his own bathroom?” Camille asked after some thought.
“While I would normally say vanity and him being proud…” Emily thought for a bit, “No actually I think that’s just it.”
Camille laughed, “Well, I can see he is a very proud engine. His brother did warn me.”
“I’ve never met the Flying Scotsman, is he very nice?” Emily asked.
“He’s charming, that's for sure. An extrovert, very energetic. I liked being around him.” Camille responded with a shrug, “He’s also very easy on the eyes.” She fluttered her eyelashes.
Emily laughed, “So I’ve heard. Did he woo you?”
Camille scoffed, “Nooooo…. Maybe.” She laughed, “But truthfully, with his energy level I don’t think I could keep up, no matter how fun he could be. If I were to see him again, which I wouldn’t mind, I think he would be a really cool friend to go do adventurous stuff with. Or even just chill with.”
Emily seemed to ponder that, “It’s so interesting to see your take on the other engines. You talk so… human about them.”
Camille worried a bit, “Is that bad?”
“No! No, not at all.” Emily replied quickly, “It’s just that, us here on Sodor weren’t built with the ability to switch forms since it hadn’t happened yet. In fact, it was a rather terrifying experience for some of us when it did happen years later. Some saw it as a curse, but it has become a common belief around here that the Lady of Legend gave us this ability to save us from… unfortunate situations. So, we lived as engines even with the human forms available to us. We worked, sure we did have fun, but nothing like what our freedoms are now, despite what some people say.”
Camille groaned, “Politics. I hate them.” She proceeded to pretend to be at a rally with a sign, “Give engines rights! Let them vote! Blah! Blah! Blah!” She sighed, “Yet no one has asked us how we feel. Because frankly, I’ve seen enough of the human drama to know I don’t think I care to do things their way. I’d rather just work, help out, and play board games, read books, etc. Getting involved with their human rights seems a bit.. much.”
Emily nodded, “I couldn’t agree more. Around here the only things that have changed is this manor and the others built around the island for the other teams. We also have human amenities like clothing, books, games, and such. Sir Topham Hatt has been really kind and generous to us. Some days, despite him having his own family, I almost feel like he sees us as his family as well.”
Camille smiled, “I got that feeling too.”
They stood in silence for a bit. Emily looked at the clock and paled a little, “Is that really the time? We need to get to bed! We’ve got to be up and ready at 5:30.”
Camille stretched, “Sounds great! I think I’ll shower in the morning to help wake myself up, if that’s alright.”
Emily nodded with a smile, turned and wished Camille goodnight as she opened her door.
“Hey Emily, before you go, I have a question.”
“Yes?”
“How about you and I go shopping one day? Just the two of us. Have some girl time.” Camille offered.
Emily smiled brightly, “That sounds amazing! Definitely!”
Camille smiled and nodded, telling Emily goodnight and stepped into her room, shutting the door behind her.
Her two bags were there waiting for her, just as Sir Topham Hatt said. She opened the duffle, revealing the suctioned clothing bags. It was late and she would unpack later, but she at least wanted to change into pajamas.
She brushed her hair in the vanity and looked out the window as the world slept around her. It was so quiet here on Sodor compared to home. Her windows overlooked the sheds. She saw Gordon sleeping alone in his berth and she couldn’t help but feel a twinge of regret at how she had reacted to him. It’s not like he knows her situation and how… unique it is. Lashing out at him was just as rude as he had been to her. Yeah he’d been a bit much but now he was sleeping by himself. Maybe he preferred it that way though? She decided to not think too much about it.
She grabbed her toothbrush, realizing she hadn’t brushed in a while. She quietly left the bedroom and entered the bathroom and brushed her teeth and took care of other essential stuff. She looked into this mirror as well. Once again the feeling of being somewhere new and strange had practically been dissolved by the friendliness of her new team. Her only team for that matter.
She sighed to herself and washed her face with a little soap and water. As she splashed and toweled her face off she stared into the mirror, “Looks like we’re not in Kansas anymore, Dorothy.”
Another sigh. She was beginning to feel like she was a walking pair of sighing, depressed lungs. She returned to her room and patted her cheeks as she laid down in the comfy queen bed.
“Tomorrow is gonna be good, awesome even.” Camille told herself.
Before she closed her eyes, she looked once more at the window. It was still bothering her that Gordon was out there alone. She had a feeling of stupid guilt that she had put him there. She tossed and turned in her bed, trying to ignore the feeling. She didn’t want to go outside and possibly bother him and Emily was probably already asleep, as well as the others. She felt like she was about to go mad with the tug of war of thoughts going on in her mind when she heard a noise from Edward’s room.
“If Edward is up, maybe he wouldn’t mind if I asked him what to do…” She decided and got up.
She went to the next bedroom and lightly rapped on the door. There was a moment of shuffling and the door opened with a slightly disheveled Edward.
“Miss Camille, are you looking for the bathroom?” He asked kindly with a smile.
“N-no… I’m sorry to ask this but… I feel bad…” Camille trailed a little.
Edward seemed to blush a little, “I’m sorry if was making too much noise, I’ve been told I’m-“
“Oh no,” Camille interrupted, “Nothing like that. I just, I saw out my window that Gordon was alone,” she rubbed her arm and looked down, “and after how we didn’t get along so well I thought maybe I was the reason he didn’t come inside.”
Edward gave a light chuckle, “Oh don’t you worry about him. It would take a lot to hurt his feelings and I promise you Gordon probably thinks he’s struck gold having the sheds to himself for the night. I’ll have to tell you a story about a moment like that for him a few winters back, but maybe not in the middle of the night.” He smiled.
Camille was relieved, “Oh OK. I’m sorry to have bothered you, I was just feeling guilty.”
“Not a problem at all.” Edward reassured, “Don’t hesitate to come my way if you need any help or advice.”
Camille nodded and turned away, “Thanks Edward. Goodnight.”
Edward waved a little, “Goodnight, Camille.”
Camille went to bed after that feeling much better. Sleep was much easier found after that and soon she was curled up with her pillows sleeping soundly.
——
In the room next door, Edward laid back down too and pulled the body of the bigger, raven haired engine close. He could feel James’ heart trying to beat its way out of his chest.
“Relax Jamie.” Edward murmured into the back of his neck. James let out a quiet but heavy sigh, “That was too close.”
