it is so surreal to say that canonically the only thing that kept erik from fucking up the entire world was knowing charles thought better of him. it wasnt any memory of his wife or daughter, the only thing strong enough to break erik from the total destruction of everything was charles. was charles walking away once before. the world was ending and erik thought of charles and the world was saved in that moment.
