I'm so excited for your food replacements! The horribly ugly, low res and unappetizing chef salad, chili, cereal, mac n cheese and so on have been the bane of my simming existence.
If you’re the same anon as from this ask, I’m so sorry for my late reply (;´༎ຶД༎ຶ`) your ask got burried deep down in my drafts (unintentionally!)
Anyhow! Thank you for sharing my excitement anon!! :-D I can give you some shitty milkshape sneak peaks of the foods in question (͠≖ ͜ʖ͠≖)b
Chili con sin carne:

EA’s chili con carne literally look like purple-tinted dirt..
Cereal:

Why did EA name it ‘cereal’ and then gave it a müsli texture? And WHY does it have some sort of tinted filter/overlay?? no thanks.
(I tried adding some milk parts to the texture but couldn’t get it to look good. I might try again in the future)
Chef salad:

Fixed some mesh problems as well.
Mac and cheese:

Sorry anon, but I kinda like EA’s macncheese texture 😳 I did scale the texture using photoenlager so it’s a bit more detailed. I might look into using another texture in the future, no promises though :-)
Keep in mind these are all still early WIPs!
I’ve replaced their “foodprep/tray” resources as well, but I won’t show them now. Probably sometime in the future when I feel like I’m at a stage in the process I can show them haha :-D it’s a big project and I haven’t touched it for a while, I don’t know why exactly, but I recently started poking at it again and am so excited! ( ´༎ຶㅂ༎ຶ`)b
I'm a tiny bit confused about the fruit bowl. Do we need both HL's file and your file that go into zCEP-Extra in the Sims 2 folder or do we only need your edited one? I understand the part about needed HL's file that goes into program files but the other part I'm not sure.
Hello anon! :-D sorry! I should have been more clear :-)
My file (vegankaktus_HL_CEP_bg_fruitBowl.package) should replace HugeLunatic's original (HL_CEP_bg_fruitBowl.package) in the document’s CEP-extra folder. I'll update my post and include this, to reduce the chance of future confusion.
Thank you for sending me this ask anon! And do let me know if I'm still a bit too vague :-D

What’s that you say? IT’S A MUFFIN ON A STICK! ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)b
Until I figure out how to make my great idea come to life, I’ll share my default for the “leg of a lamb” sims feed the cowplant.
There are two versions to choose from and University is required for both. If you have pets installed, you can choose to use the repo’d default (it’s repositioried to “accessorypettoystick_txtr”) and if you’re using my default toy stick, it will pick up that default as well. If you don’t have pets installed, it’s the file with “_uni” at the end you want. The stick texture in the university version is from my toy stick default, since I didn’t see a reason to use EA’s original texture.
The muffin is repo’d to “toyovenmuffin-surfaces-cooked_txtr” (in both files) from basegame, which makes these files very small. If you use my default for the muffin, both files will pick up that as well (in my previews both my defaults for the muffin and stick is used). Yay for repo’d stuff! :-D
The muffin looks a bit off-center in my previews, but I’ve fixed that now! I was just too lazy to re-do the previews, hope you understand (; ´༎ຶㅂ༎ຶ`)b
Remember you can only have one default replacement for the leg of a lamb (😢) in your downloads folder at a time! Both files have been compressed to reduce file size, and do let me know if you encounter any issues :-)

I can’t possibly be the only one who hated EA’s color choices for the toy oven, right? (; ಠㅂಠ) and the horribly low-res muffin? So here! Have some defaults for the toy oven and its muffin-related stuff :-)
I re-mapped the muffin pan and ingredients bag. I also gave them new textures (the ingredients bag now has its own texture and is no longer repo’d to toyoven-surfaces_txtr). I re-sized the muffin textures to 128x128 (EA’s original were 64x64) and gave them a new cooked and burned texture. They are compatible with Rosebine’s re-sized muffin!
The pink measuring cup children use when baking muffins is repo’d to toyoven-surfaces_txtr, which means that it will pick up my default replacement as well :-)
You can choose between separate and merged defaults, and all files have been compressed to reduce file size. If you have any defaults in your downloads folder defaulting the same thing as my defaults, you have to remove those before installing mine. Let me know if you encounter any issues :-)
If you choose to download my defaults as separate files, the muffin pan is merged with the toy oven (otherwise it would look weird) and if you don’t install my ingredients bag default, it will use part of the toy oven’s texture, like EA's original does.
Oh and also! Forgot to mention, I recommend sunrader’s “fix” and itsdiamondeyesuniverse’s more muffin options! :-D

I commented on your post but I thought it was a bit vague, so here’s (hopefully) a little clearer description! :-D
The food states you’re looking for (half-eaten) are in the foodEat*foodsname*_root_rot_gmdc. If I use pancakes as an example, it’s in the foodEatPancakes_root_rot_gmdc resource :-) when you import it into milkshape, you must click yes to “create blend groups?” to get the morphs. The group named “state” is the non-eaten/full state, the ~00MORPHMOD.2 is the half-eaten state and ~00MORPHMOD.1 is the empty state.
Edit: forgot to mention this, but you have to export the mesh as .gmdc and import it into milkshape via UniMesh!
Now, here’s the tricky part: all groups/morphs must have the exact same vertex-count. This means that in the empty state, you’ll see this small blob:

and it contains the exact same amount of vertexes as the “state” group. In the half-eaten state, you can see it hidden inside the food here:

So if you’re using ts4 meshes, you’ll have to edit the full-state into a half-eaten state by yourself in milkshape. I’ve done this to various EA meshes since I’m also working on defaulting every food, but it’s been a while since I’ve poked at it so I can’t remember exactly how I did with the vertex-count, but I think it’s like this:
the empty state (aka ~00MORPHMOD.1 group) contains a blob made up of exactly the same amount of vertexes as the group “state” (aka the non-eaten/full state). The blob is hidden inside the plate (the plate is not included in foodeat*foodsname*_root_rot_gmdc resources, but just put your new blob in the same place as EA’s blob and you should be ok).
the half-eaten state’s blob is hidden inside the food, and that blob is made of the amount of vertexes needed to reach the same amount as the non-eaten state. In other words: half-eaten state’s amount of vertexes + blob’s vertexes = same amount as non-eaten / full state’s vertexes.
This was so hard to explain haha! I’m not even sure if I made any sense. Perhaps you’d like to take a look at this tutorial by AriesFlare? I think it shows you how to edit meshes and create food states!
Hope this helped! :-)))
Hello! I wondered if it was possible that you could make a default for the pancakes of the base game as you did with the cereal, which might be something like the ones in the Sims 4, I don't know if it's really possible, but anyway thank you very much! 💟
Hey anon. I’ve been working on the pancakes already but I’m running into two issues that’s kinda taking away my motivation to work on the food. I guess I can use this ask as a WIP post.
First issue:

The nice looking food meshes I find for the ingredients are just too high poly. I tried making a version of this with the egg carton open, showing some of the eggs, but a single egg had more poly than some hairs in my DL folder. :D
Anyway, the prep board ends up looking quite bare compared to the original, and again I end up feeling that maybe just retexturing the old meshes might be a better idea. What do you guys think?

The actual pancakes I took from TS4, and here’s the second issue:

I can’t for the life of me find where the empty and half eaten version of the plates are! I’ve used the method that @vegan-kaktus showed me and still nothing, I can’t identify it on the mesh. D: The plates look full all the way through. I don’t know what I’m missing, maybe I’m just blind. But either way I have to ask for help from people smarter than me and I hate bothering people so. :( Might be a while on this one.
I also wanted to default the neighborhood trees with TS4 meshes but there are a million versions of each of them, it seems to be a different mesh for each season with the ones I tried? I dunno, it’s all too confusing/overwhelming ahhhhhh. *gives up*
