this isn’t necessarily a dating headcannon, but he’s brutally honest so if you ask him something he’ll always tell the truth, unless it’s to run away from the cops or something

whenever he gets arrested for something, you always bail him out since you’re his emergency contact

after he gets into a fight and has wounds, you always patch him up even if he doesn’t want you to

he actually appreciates it a lot and sees it as a very intimate situation since he’s vulnerable at the moment

he’ll also steal random shit for you, you scold him but love how he’s thoughtful enough to get you those things

he’ll smoke sometimes but tries not to as much when he’s around you, he knows you hate the smell and the smoke in general

once, you got him a few presents since the two of you were dating for a year and one of the presents was a bracelet

you made it for him and you had a matching one, he scoffed but thanked you anyways

it seemed like he didn’t care, that he thought it was stupid, but he wore it every day forward and thought it was the cutest thing ever

it always reminds him of you, so when he gets arrested and has to stay for a bit, he has a part of you with him

a lot of late night drives since he has trouble sleeping, normally goes to bed around 1-3 in the morning, sometimes later

he’ll randomly call you and ask, “hey doll, wanna go for a drive? i can pick you up..” talking quietly since you probably got woken up

you’d complain for a bit before getting up and dressed, he’s already on his way to your house

the two of you would be quiet on the drive, he’d park somewhere random since you suggested the two of you could look at the stars

he didn’t think much of the stars, nor the moon, but when he saw you looking up with interest, he could only keep his eyes on you

normally has an arm around your shoulder in a protective gesture, when you’re walking down the streets and he’s smiling, laughing and talking to you

he knows he’s in deep shit when you just call him ‘dallas’ and don’t say anything else

then he figures out you just wanted him to try the cupcakes you made

speaking of baking, he’s the guinea pig and is always trying out sweets you make

he’ll tell you if something tastes off or if something tastes amazing, but will normally eat it even if it doesn’t taste the best

he just loves it when you put your head on his chest, trying to sleep while he thinks about how lucky he is to have you :3

you get all blushy when he’s shirtless and he teases you about it constantly

he just loves seeing you get flustered seeing him literally do nothing

he’ll compliment and thank you you whether it’s about your looks, outfit, something you did for him, etc

you’ll wear an outfit he likes and he’ll compliment you, mumbling, “your outfit looks real nice today, doll” while putting his hands on your hips, kissing your neck

if you’re cold and in public then tell him, he asks “baby, why didn’t you bring your jacket?” but gives you his jacket anyway

if someone’s hitting on you, he goes behind you and kisses your cheek, saying “hey doll… oh, who’s this?” and when you look back at the person he stares them down

if you’re cooking or baking, something like that, he’ll go up behind you and wrap his arms around your waist

sometimes he’ll randomly start kissing you, then it turns to making out

occasionally, he’ll actually pay for food when the two of you go out to eat

he’ll share food with you if you’re hungry, not before rolling his eyes though

he’s actually more than willing to give you food

when he’s genuinely concerned about you, he’ll look at you with the cutest eyes ever, pulls you into his chest and kisses your forehead, telling you it’ll be alright

when he’s bored or just wants to see you, he’ll walk to your house if it’s not that far away

then he’ll climb up to the second floor, where your room is and tap on your window

sometimes he’ll sleep over and curl up into your side

your heartbeat calms him down but he would never tell anyone that

when you’re sad or upset about something, he doesn’t really know how to comfort you besides telling you you’re amazing and perfect, rubbing your back and giving you reassuring kisses

then he’ll take you out to a fast food place or restaurant

if the two of you eat sour patch kids, he says he hates the blue ones and they taste like shit, he’ll give them to you even though he actually likes it

you later wrote down the even number questions and answered them, along with answering all your odd questions besides one

you stared at your paper with confusion, not wanting your boyfriend to notice that you were struggling with a specific question

you frantically looked through the textbook, trying to find the answer to no avail

ponyboy glanced over to you, seeing your worried face, asking quietly, “you want some help, y/n?” not wanting you to be embarrassed

you shook your head, not looking back at him, still flipping through the pages of the history textbook

he wanted you to get the question without telling you or asking once again if you needed help, so he flipped to the page where he found the answer in his textbook, and put it into your view

ponyboy stayed quiet, you glanced at his desk to see the textbook on his desk, flipped to a certain page, the topic of your question in big red text

you flipped to the page in your book, writing down the answer in your notes page

your boyfriend smiled at you, asking if you’d like to go over your notes to see if you got the same answers

you nodded and read over your notes, all of your answers matching

he said, “oh, maybe we can share popcorn? um, i can pay, actually..” not wanting to be rude

you replied with a yes to sharing the popcorn, but refusing to let him pay for the food

he nodded, knowing you wouldn’t let him pay, but he wanted you to know that he would pay if you let him

johnny is someone who didn’t really get a lot of affection, so he kind of craves it

but the two of you make your relationship work, and he respects your boundaries, knowing how difficult it was when rules and boundaries were crossed

so he showed his love for you with affectionate words, even if you wouldn’t say it back

you would help him with things, along with his emotions but never opening up yourself

he knew you cared for him and loved him, but you had a very difficult time expressing it

you and soda were walking down the street after getting two milkshakes from a diner

the two of you were walking back to your house and he was talking about a weird person who walked into the DX

he apologized, continuing to talk about other things that happened at the shop, knowing you’d want the conversation to keep going, distracting you

you and darry were at his house, planning to make chocolate cake together, trying to work on collaborating with each other

he nodded, explaining that he was the top of his class and got number one in long jump for his track meet the other day

the two of you continued your conversation, darry passing by you, not before putting a hand on your hip

you cowered and moved away slightly, his hand coming off your hip, apologies coming out of his mouth

he also had a difficult time asking for help, people often expecting a lot for him, more than he could give

so he naturally became independent, just like you

the two of you would try to practice relying on each other, just to get used to being a bit dependent on each other

the two of you knew you didn’t have to be dependent on each other in order to love each other, and you knew that

he would give you little kisses and affectionate actions, but if you pushed him away then he word respect your boundaries

you and dally were very alike, both of you hardly asked for help or showed affection in public besides laughing and talking with each other

so you and dally were a good couple and had the same boundaries and expectations

you and your boyfriend, keith, were at his house hanging out after school

both of you were in his room and you were helping him out with homework, even though you were younger than him but in a higher grade, him being held back many times

after your boyfriend was done struggling and you were done explaining the questions, you brought out your science homework and stared at it for a couple seconds

two-bit noticed and asked you, “need help, babe?” and you politely shook your head, muttering, “no thank you..”

he watched you struggle and knew you wouldn’t ask for help, he knew you picked up habits from your childhood that caused you to be highly independent

but he understood you more than anyone else did, more than you even understood yourself

keith would try to help you in little ways, things you hardly noticed, like giving you your pencil if you couldn’t find it, or scooping up a cup of flour for your cake

you walked to the DX to see steve, wanting to be with him after a difficult day at school

when you walked into the shop, seeing your boyfriend at the register, you smiled

“hey y/n, didn’t expect to see you here. how’d that test go? i knew you were talking about it for the past few days..” he said

as you walked up to steve, you hesitantly said, “oh, um… i didn’t get that good of a score. eighty-four percent, i’m gonna retake it.” looking away, feeling shameful

steve looked at you, telling you that he could help you study if you wanted it

you turned down his offer, wanting to do everything on your own, he knew you were independent but thought you needed help sometimes, however you wouldn’t let him help you

“you sure? don’t want you to be stressed, no shame in asking for help.” he told you, and you stared at him for a few seconds, saying “thank you, but i’m fine. really. i’ll study for a few days, the retake isn’t until thursday.”

he nodded and looked down, mumbling an “alright” then asked “you wanna go out to eat if you get a good score?” looking at you then smiling

you smiled widely at him and blushed, nodding at his question

he’s a little more stubborn than the rest of the group, so you can get a bit frustrated if he keeps persisting to help you with something

but he just wants to show you that he cares about you, and with the small chance that you’d want help, he would help you

when he arrived at the entrance of your house, he opened the door, you opened your bedroom door and instinctively exclaimed, “johnny!!” and ran towards him

he became happy that you were excited to see him, he believed that little moment was adorable, making him want to pinch you

when you realized he was hurt, you gasped, “oh no!!! what happened??” and led him to the bathroom by holding his hand

but he forgot all about feeling sad that he was hurt, he felt physically painful but emotionally, he was happy

you were happy to see him, and seeing you happy to see him made him feel loved

as soda was in his room, he heard you calling for him from the living room, “sodaaa?? soooodaaaa… soddddaaa!??? come heeeereee!!”

he then picked you up, carrying you to the kitchen and sitting you on the counter, your head automatically dropping and you groaned, complaining, “i wanna go to sleeeep!!!”

darry responded, “don’t sleep now, you need to be able to sleep tonight. you have school tomorrow.” and you sighed, talking once again about the boy while darry listened patiently for the next twenty minutes

dally had taken you out to dairy queen as a reward for doing good on one of your tests you had been talking about for weeks

the two of you were peacefully eating your burgers and drinking sodas, planning to order ice cream later

you were weirdly polite for being someone in the curtis family, you were gnawing at your food and would suddenly wipe your mouth with a napkin after every bite

he thought it was weird but cute, not knowing anyone else who did that except you

he realized he wanted to rip out his own hair or pinch you real hard, he didn’t understand why but he knew he didn’t intentionally want to hurt you

after you and dally had finished your meal, he asked you, “wanna get ice cream?” so you nodded

once you had gotten your ice cream, it would get all over your face and you would once again, politely wipe it off with a napkin constantly

you were walking home from school, planning to stop by a few stores before arriving at your house

so you took a detour and walked to a disney store, weirdly enough, you had never seen one before

because it was packed, you slouched in attempt to not be noticed, as you were walking around the store, you saw a mickey mouse figure

it automatically reminded you of two-bit, who was like a brother or a cool uncle to you, so you looked around the shop to see if anyone was looking in your direction

when you were sure no attention was on you, you grabbed the figure and walked out with it, people being too focused on buying their own things to notice a little kid stealing something

you then walked back to your house, expecting to see the gang there

when you arrived at your house, you opened the door to see two-bit on the floor eating chocolate cake and watching mickey mouse, the rest of the gang were scattered throughout the house

keith’s attention was suddenly on you, he smiled and asked, “hey kid, how was school?”

you nodded and responded, “it was okay, some kid tried to hit on me but he was kind of… creepy. one of my other friends ended up beating him up.” you shrugged, “anyway, swiped you a gift.” you handed it to him and sat on the couch behind him, eyes focused on the television

he looked at the mickey mouse figure, observing it then looked back at you, wanting to squeeze you so hard because of how kind you were, but in a caring way

“this is really cool, y/n, thanks.” chuckling and smiling at you, picking up the chocolate cake and sitting next to you on the couch, picking up some of it with his fork and holding it out to you

seeing steve working outside on a car, you decided to try and sneak up on him, walking slower and quieter so he wouldn’t notice

he was so focused on the car that he didn’t realize you were just a few feet away from him, you stared and him and waited for him to realize you were there

trying to figure out what was wrong with the car, he groaned, “god damn it, bitch…” and turned around, jumping and yelling when he saw you were in his face

his heart was racing and you were laughing, steve didn’t expect you to be right next to him, he asked, “y/n, how long have you been here?”

you shrugged and answered, “few minutes i think, sorry!” then smiled at him, going about your day and talking about how a service dog came up to you on the streets

he thought it was so adorable that you kept ranting about the dog, how it kept following you and wagging its tail, sitting down when you told it to

although his hands were dirty because of the car, he smiled and continued listening to your ranting, he wanted to squeeze you because of how sweet you were acting

without the intent of hurting you though, he could hardly help it, but still decided not to go through with squeezing you

you two kept talking for months and you eventually went to his house to study and met his brothers, darry and soda

darry told pony to be wary of you, but was glad to have you around since you would help ponyboy get his grades up if they faltered

you also gave him a reason to go to track meets and try since you would be competing too

soda thought you were nice and that’s all he cared about, you respected and seemed to love his brother even if pony couldn’t see it himself

he realized he started to love himself more when he hung out with you, and you made him look forward to things

he loves the way you laugh, the way you would get excited talking about specific things, your love for baking and the way you would get eating your favorite meal, how pretty you were, your kindness and selflessness, he could go on and on about what he loves about you

he later asked you if you wanted to be his girlfriend and picked your favorite flowers from a field close to his house

you obviously said yes

you were so excited and gave him a big hug, saying you were waiting for him to ask you and you’re so happy he finally did

he loves you so much but feels like he’ll scare you away if he says it quickly

he tells the gang about you being his girlfriend and they freak out, asking if they can meet you

after dally was done harassing cherry and ran off, she started a conversation with pony and johnny

you looked back at johnny and already saw him looking at you, so you smiled

you were more on the quiet side since most of the time you just didn’t have anything to say, and you were an observer

you noticed the cut on his cheek, it was deep and he had a look that made him look scared of everything, so you guessed he had problems at home

he’d flinch at loud noises and sudden movements, so you took a note of that

you were still curious about the cut on his cheek, and asked him where he got it, he looked to pony and he pat johnny on the shoulder to go sit next to you

he went up to the front row to tell you the story about how he got jumped by a group of socs, and remembered a guy with multiple rings

you said you were sorry for him, and not every soc is like that, that he can’t control what other people do but only the way he reacts

he continued the conversation and found out more about your likes and dislikes, while pony was talking to cherry, and two-bit came to talk to marcia

johnny started to feel like someone cared about him other than the gang, and he felt full until the time you had to leave

you wrote down your number on a piece of paper since you wanted to keep in touch, and drove away in your mustang

he and pony talked about you and the movie on their way home, and talked about how you don’t seem that bad and johnny should try to pursue a relationship with you

the both of you would hang out weekly through the next year, sometimes sleeping over at your house since his parents would be drunk

one time you two were having a heartfelt talk about feelings and home life, and he asked you if you could be his girlfriend

since you were shocked but reciprocated the feelings, at first you didn’t say anything and johnny got real nervous

he said sorry for asking and it got awkward, but you said you’d be his girlfriend

bro has never smiled that wide in his entire life, he’s never been so happy when someone said something until now

you two talked about the failed times you were to ask each other to be partners, and kept giggling about it until your dad walked in and told you to go to bed, and to keep the door open

after he was done with fixing your roof, he was incredibly sad

he really liked the attention and you did too, so you gave him your number on a piece of paper and told him to call you if he wanted to talk or hang out

when he got home he started thinking about what would be good for pony and soda

he thought he had to take care of them and he was responsible so he didn’t know if he should get to know you better, he had a lot on his hands

he figured he should try to do something that makes him happy while still doing important things and taking care of his brothers

he would call you often and you would call him, planning times to meet and do things

when you two got very close after months of talking, he brought you to his house

when he brought you to his house he didn’t expect to see the whole gang there, being loud and acting wild

you didn’t mind at all and said it was okay, he later had a long talk with them about how they can’t be at his house uninvited randomly

yeah they didn’t listen at all because it happened many times after that

you started to make food for them and do laundry, acted like a mother towards them

that’s when darry knew he loved you and wanted you to be his girlfriend

he knew the gang appreciated everything you did for them and acted as a mother figure to them, they listened to you

you even got dally to listen to you and help out around the house… it wasn’t even his house but it made it easier for darry to manage

darry later saved up some money and brought you to a restaurant where he asked you to be his girlfriend

“hey, is steve here?” you asked soda, and for a second he thought you were his girlfriend

he yelled for steve, and he came out of the back since he was on his lunch break, he groaned and walked to the front

you sighed and told him, “just… hang on, i have medical supplies in the trunk. i’ll go get it, you seem like you’re on the edge of death.” mumbling the last part

after you brought the supplies back, you gave the items to dally, knowing he wouldn’t let you patch him up

he looked up at you after he sat on the couch, “thanks”

he didn’t trust you enough to let you get super close to him, but already knew you were a good person with good intentions, so he gave you his number

steve came out of the bathroom and asked what you were doing here
