My brother snooped around my computer and shouted everyone in the house that got my fortune read on discord. What the actual fuck. And also that I believe in astrology. So I'm gonna rant now. I didn't leave discord on by the way. I always leave my tabs closed but he decided to check my browser history.

1. I just wanted to try reading for other people. And see if they text me later saying it happened. (You can dm me for a reading by the way.) It was MONTHS ago. I just wanted the discord notifications to go away. I barely even use that website.

2. I don't believe in astrology. I am skeptical of it.

3. I never got my fortune read except for the one time I asked for a one Tarot card pull, it was to see if Aphrodite wanted to tell me anything that she can't by playing cards.

4. Someone in my household has trauma related to being accused of witchcraft. Fuck no, don't talk about it near them you insensitive asshole.

💌 poem for lady aphrodite

lady aphrodite, keeping me from harm,

a gentle presence, graceful and warm.

when she enters, a smile forms on my face,

i see her in the distance while she walks towards this place.

a beach with honey colored sand, lady aphrodite with golden hair,

she hugs me softly, knowing i'm under her care.

Black Tea Focusing Potion Recipe

This is very simple and easy to disguise. I chose these ingredients for practical reasons. In Turkey we drink black tea all day long and my mom brings me tea when I'm studying. I carry cloves with me instead of gum because I have braces. It's very usual for me to draw on my schoolwork so no one will think it's for witchcraft. I have originally written this in Turkish so if you want me to I can post that version as well.

Ingredients:

Black tea for banishing negativity and ilnesses.

A clove (or more) for mental clarity.

A sigil for focusing. (I draw mine with a blue pencil.)

Instructions:

1.♣️ Draw the sigil on a piece of paper and place your teacup on the sigil.

2.♣️ Say your intention while putting a clove or more in your tea, depending on the size of your cup.

How I make it:

♣️I draw my sigil on a paper. I made mine with the sentence "I want to focus on studying." Then I place my coaster and teacup on it. (Google Turkish teacup if you are curious.)

The teacups and coasters I have at home are transparent and it's nice to be able to see the sigil through the coaster when I'm drinking the tea. It's not necessary or anything though.

♣️ I say my intention and drop the clove in the cup. Then I study while waiting for the tea to become a drinkable temperature.

Other ways to do it:

If you can't draw on a paper, you can simply trace it on your cup with your finger.

You can put the cloves in while brewing it. You could also stick a paper on your kettle or place your kettle on your sigil. Or again, simply trace it with your finger.

I think it would be really cool to make coasters with sigils on them but I can't really do that now.

I just wrote a very simple focusing potion recipe. You literally only need some black tea, a clove and a sigil. It's in Turkish so I posted it privately to not clog people's feeds. If anyone is interested I'll translate it or just make it public if you know Turkish. Let me know if you are interested.

Preach!

Was it shameful for women in Ancient Greece to openly desire someone? Could it be the reason of rape in some of the myths?

Where I'm from, in older stories, when they talk about romance it's always like "the woman fell in love, the man desired her". Sex is always in the man's domain. A woman, ideally, isn't supposed to say it even if she wants to have sex with a guy. Unless it's their responsibility because they are married. Except for the times in movies where the woman is like "Hurry up, take my virginity so they have to let us get married." And then maybe she expresses sexual desire. But in others' eyes she would be a "whore" for wanting to sex before marriage. It would need to be rape for it to be acceptable in the society's eyes, and even then she'd be a whore for tempting him.

I don't know enough about Ancient Greece to make any claims. Just some food for thought.

This epithet of hers is very interesting to me. She is often represented by The Queen of Hearts in playing card readings. So I often call her Aphrodite, The Queen of Love as a way to start a prayer. Or just out of love. I wouldn't say I have a favorite epithet though.

I’d like to talk a bit about one of my favorite epithets of Aphrodite and why it’s so special to me.

Her epithet I’d like to talk about is Erototrophos. That means “mother of love”. It likely refers to the fact that She’s most of the time thought of as the mother of Eros, or Love.

Aphrodite Erototrophos is very special to me for many reasons. First, She mostly appears to me in this epithet. Occasionally, She’ll appear in different epithets and I can usually tell from her appearance or how she feels but most of the time it’s Erototrophos.

She also is like a mother to me. She’s very protective, loving, occasionally strict, and is always there for me. Even before I knew this epithet existed and that it was how She appeared to me a lot, I always felt She was very motherly.

Another reason why I love this epithet is because of my relationship with my mom. My mom is one of my favorite people in the world. She’s not perfect, nobody is, but she’s the best mom I could ever ask for. I love her so much. Familial love is so important to me as I’m lucky enough to have an amazing family, and Aphrodite Erototrophos reminds me of motherly and familial love.

I love this aspect of Lady Aphrodite so, so much. What’s your favorite epithet of Hers and why?

Learning from The Green Witch: Autumn Witchcraft Practices

3 Practices I am Most Looking Forward to This Autumn | Fall Witchcraft

1. Elderberry Syrup

There aren't really elderberries around me. This is not something I would make. But this did gave me the idea to experiment with making drinks and including them in my craft.

Quest: Make drinks and research their magical properties. Include them in your practice for focusing, protection and relaxation. These can be changed around if one of them is not possible.

2. Protective Door Wreath

I can't hang anything on the front door of my flat. I can't hang anything on my bedroom's door either. However I would like to put a protective decoration around the enterance or my bedroom so that negative energy can't enter. Even if it's not a wreath I would like to use something I made myself and use it as protection.

Quest: Hang a protective decoration around the door of your bedroom.

3. Making Stocks and Preserves for Winter

I kind of disagree with her view on winter, probably because I absolutely love winter. Drinking sahlep after playing in the snow, falling asleep to the sound of a rainstorm, wearing tights on my leggings so I can still wear a skirt. I'm the only one I know who enjoys waking up in the dark and going to school. As I am the opposite, I think I should make plans on how I can prepare for the summer and bring some of the winter energy in.

I do love jam though, so this is something I would make if I didn't live with my parents. Jam also sounds really nice to use in spells. And I should probably learn to make basic things that don't need to be cooked so that I can make them in my dorm room when I go to university. What I can do now though, is researching plants around me and seeing if I can keep any to use during the winter.

Quest: Learn about the plants that grow around you. Collects things like fallen leaves and flowers Preferably save them to use later. Take notes of at least 4 plants and just collect some leaves if you can't do anything else.

Do y'all believe that energy can be negative or positive? I feel kinda cold all the time probably because of mental health shit. And when I do energy work when after grounding I feel like the energy is negative. Not great for protection practices. I'm thinking about drawing energy from something else but then would it "turn negative? Maybe it wouldn't if I used a tool as a little barrier.

Or maybe I'm just being weird. I would've called myself insane last year for believing in witchcraft in the first place.

Spit is an interesting one. I'm from Turkey and here grandmas often spit after praying the evil eye away. It's considered protective. I've never used it for anything though.I usually just play wind chimes on my phone and run it around my room to cleanse.

🫧 what's your favorite method of cleansing?

Thank you so much for the question!!

Generally, I like to smoke cleanse, I often light up incense in my home. It keeps the overall space cleansed, especially my living room. It's handy as well when I'm doing spells to cleanse out jars and such.

Secondly, If it so happens I have no incense lit or it just burned out, I like to use my spit. It's quick and effective. I often spit on my sigils to cleanse them. I sometimes swirling some holy water (or moon water) around my mouth and then "spray" it on my objects.

These are basically my two most used ways of cleansing! :)

THE GODS ARE NOT THEIR MYTHS

THE GODS ARE NOT THEIR MYTHS —

I'd like to begin by stating that all religions have mythos. Christianity has the bible, Islam has the Quran, etc. That is to say, that most of these religions are centered in mythic literalism, as portrayed in their sacred texts.

The mythology surrounding the Gods, since we do not hold a sacred book, has been written by worshippers, for other worshippers, rather than prophets.

While myths may paint the Gods with human-like flaws, these narratives are symbolic, representing aspects of the human experience and the natural world rather than literal truth. The gods embody ideals, fears, and cultural values of ancient Greece, serving as a mirror to humanity's own complexities. In essence, the myths are not factual accounts but rather rich, allegorical tales that reveal deeper truths about existence, morality, and the cosmos, used by the ancients in order to make more sense of the divine, in their own perspective of the world.

We must also remember that whilst a lot of the subjects in these myths do include traits deemed unacceptable in our modern world, the ancients had different values and beliefs that were seen as "acceptable" or at least normative in their societies. Thus, we cannot place modern morals onto ancient writings.

Often times, people look down upon worshippers of the Gods, due to the mythology and the "horrible acts" they've committed, but this limited view embodies, again, mythic literalism, which is not present in Hellenic Mythology.

Instead, we must look outside of these myths for evidence of the Gods; both in the lives of the ancients, and in our own.

// short one today, because i could speak about this topic for ages, but i don't want to bore you all too much.

Ocean Waves Grounding Exercise

Close your eyes and imagine the ocean crashing against the beach. As you breathe in, the waves crest and crash against the sand/rocks. As you breathe out, the water recedes to begin the cycle again. Continue for ten slow breaths. Repeat as needed.

Dark Sea Witchcraft

Dark Sea Witchcraft

Many sea witches forget that the ocean is a dark, dangerous place, filled with deadly traps and monsters. This post is a collection of ideas on blending dark witchcraft with sea magick. (Note: I, along with many others, do not believe in the threefold law, so please keep your personal ethics to yourself)

Seashells are great for curses, as they can be broken into shards and put in a curse bottle. Research certain shell correspondences if you want a very specific curse.

Black sand can be mixed with black salt (or used by itself) for protective or cursing magick.

Saltwater gathered on the night of a dark moon makes the water even more potent for dark witchcraft.

Fish or turtle bones can be used in curse bottles or for divination. (Please only use bones that you find without actually hurting an animal. If you do sacrifice an animal, don’t be wasteful and please be humane. And definitely don’t sacrifice anything endangered!)

Shark teeth can be used for curses to cause fear in someone, or even bring real harm to them if used that way.

If you think on a broader scale, you can harness the power of the entire sea. Hurricanes and things like that are incredibly powerful, and are aspects of the sea. They kill many, many people, so I don’t recommend a hurricane curse, as they aren’t specific to who they harm.

Feel free to repost and add on to this!

Seashell Divination Tip

Once you are acquainted with the magical meanings behind your seashells, place a blue cloth on a table and put your seashells on the cloth. (The cloth represents the Ocean). Close your eyes, feel the energy emit from your shells, slowly rotate the cloth a few times and put your hand on whichever seashell feels right. Open your eyes to see which seashell you picked and divine it’s meaning.

🌊 Sea Grounding 🌊

a quick guide on grounding with the sea or ocean for you beach bums

image

sea grounding:

🌊 prepare yourself with appropriate sunblock measures!

🌊 (to the best of your ability) stand barefooted on the beach where the waves can reach and recede from you

🌊 visualize:

every wave over your feet pulls you closer to the center of the earth, burying you.

you are becoming part of the earth.

push your old energies out, let the sand exfoliate them from you

the water that washes over you brings new, fresh energy. it soaks into you with the cold and the wet

🌊 when you are ready, step away from the water gently. you are not severing the ties harshly, only letting them fall away, the way the tide releases you

A reason why I worship Aphrodite is because she is as viscious as she is loving.

She’s teeth and claws and the enemy of mankind

But she’s also a loving embrace and a gentle touch

And I love her for it

Oh, right. Getting a good sleep schedule. One of the things I need to do but keep postponing. That's probably why he reached out to me anyway. I had asked that while stressing about how I haven't done much for him instead of sleeping another sign I should start sleeping. Thanks for answering. In your experience, does he have any preferred divination methods? I tried to do some playing card divination but it didn't go too well. It's probably on me though.

I don't know if you had talked about it before but how did you start worshipping Hypnos? He reached out to me around the start of this month through a dream. I checked with a pendulum. I dedicated naps and played ukulele for him a few times but not much. I could make things with poppies but it's not the poppy season anymore. I just don't know what to do or how to go about it. I can't have an altar. Doesn't help that I am writing this instead of sleeping.

TBH I don’t really know how I started, I kind of just accumulated things on a shelf over time until I realised “hey that’s basically an altar”. I think I sort of just naturally gravitated toward him.

But you definitely don’t need to face an altar, keeping a good sleep schedule and sleep hygiene is practically worship in of itself. Documenting dreams, having a bed/night routine, prayer, devotional playlists or art or writings, they’re all good and more discrete ways to worship.

Learning from cedarmoon: 5 signs Aphrodite is reaching out (an e-offering to Aphrodite)

In this post I won't talk about her signs but things I find interesting from the video.

💖I don't think I've heard anyone talk about soft fabric and silk spesifically before. But it makes sense and I do associate it with her. She is also a goddess of luxury. Getting clothes, pillows or anything with quality fabric in her honour could be a good idea. 🌸Surroudinding myself with things that make me happy is a skill i need to learn. I grew up being told that it's unnecessary to want things to look nice. I need to work to stop being ashamed of it. I like to look nice even when I'm just watching something by myself at home or sleeping. 🪞If you want to change your appereance, it's not superficial. It's self care. It helps you with confidence and motivation. You aren't immoral because of this. This is how the human brain works. 💐You can gift yourself little things as self-care or spending quality time you enjoy for yourself. Rest is productive. 🦢You shouldn't be ashamed liking certain aesthetics because they are feminine. I'm not really into pastels unlike cedarwood. However I love wearing skirts. I had given up on that in middle school to fit in because everyone was wearing blue jeans. It took me some time to not be afraid to stand out and wear whatever the fuck I want.

💋At first I thought it was nonsense that we are already who we want to be but now I think about it she's correct. I wasn't ugly, I was just unhappy with how I looked because I wasn't dressing or doing my hair how I wanted to.

Colour Correspondanes: Blue

Blue is the colour of mind. Dark blue stimulates our brains while light blue calms us down. It's a colour that reminds us to look at the blue sky and the vast sea. It reminds us that there is more to this world than just us. I would use it to calm down or just get out of the real, physical world.

Blue is the colour of stillness, waiting and reason. It can be used to encourage thinking before doing. It can be used for focusing. I would use it while practicing mindfulness.

Blue is very peaceful, non threatening. It's quite passive. I would use it to shut people who ruin everything up and make the environment much calmer.

Blue often feels icy and cold. It's the colour of sadness. It can also reduce the body temprature which is very interesting to me because I feel cold even when it's hot when I'm depressed. But interestingly, it's also the colour that represents the water element, which is emotional and caring. It also represents compassion.
