Cleansing - Tumblr Posts

Made myself a cleansing stick with the over abundant sagebrush here in Wyoming. Bound it together with reeds and gifted it to a friend. I hope it serves them well.
Hex Breaking and Protection

When someone is putting a hex on you or cursing you they are actively manifesting negative energies/entities and sending them your way to cause emotional or physical harm. These are just a few ideas of mine to help get rid of those negative energies and protect yourself from more. If you are unsure if you have been hexed, cursed, or if you just are getting bad vibes, here are some indicators there is some negative energy:
1. You feel fatigued even though you've taken good care of your body today and don't have an illness.
2. You feel off emotionally or mentally and you know its not from medication or illness.
3. You just feel kinda icky and can't explain why.
You can always ask your pendulum or cards if you've been cursed or hexed or if a negative energy has chosen to mess with you.
Hex/Curse Removal:
I find the most effective way to get rid of negative energies that make you feel physically ill is to do an egg cleansing. You take an egg, fill it with a healing intention, and rub it counter clockwise on your body from your head to your toes. Get a clear cup, fill it with water, and crack your egg into it. You can look up how to interpret the yolk in the water to better understand what's going on but when you're done just flush it all down the toilet.
A purification bath or shower can help wash away negative energies, especially if you use lavender soap, oil, or dried lavender. Other herbs you can include in your bath are:
Rosemary
Thyme
Basil
Fennel
Hyssop
Peppermint
Rose
And Valerian Root
Another idea is to give the negative energy and offering and simply say "I free you from having to cause me harm and I wish you a good day."
Protection:
Wearing hagstones and hanging them around your house can protect you.
Cleansing a space with sound, your own energy or smoke.
Hanging bells around your house like on your altar, above your bed, and above doors.
A protection charm i came up with for my cats that can be changed according to your own intent:

You will need:
• Three white oak acorns (can be swapped out for a jar, or other large nuts with big shells)
• White string
• Glue
To ward off intruders:
• Chilli pepper flakes
• Salt
• Rosemary
• Catus
For pet protection:
• Red clover
• Rosemary
• Fennel
Take the tops of the acorns, cut the tops off of the acorns with a serrated knife. Take out the nut inside making it hollow.
Place all your ingredients inside, charging with your intention and then glue the acorn shell to the acorn cap securing all your ingredients inside.
When dry, draw a protective symbol on each acorn and tie white string onto the tops and make it into a little ornament to hang by your front door.

▪️▪️▪️▪️🪬Protection Magick 🪬▪️▪️▪️▪️
Hello darlings 🥰
Today, let’s talk about protection spells and rituals 🪬✨
As witches, we understand the importance of protecting ourselves, our loved ones, and our homes from negative energies and entities. Here are a few simple protection spells and rituals that you can try:
🧂Salt Circle: One of the simplest and most effective protection spells is creating a salt circle. Simply sprinkle salt around the perimeter of the area you wish to protect, visualizing a shield forming around it.
📿Protection Amulet: Choose a protective crystal such as black tourmaline or obsidian, and wear it as a necklace or carry it with you in a small pouch.
🪬Protective Sigils: Create a protective sigil by drawing a symbol or design that represents protection to you, and charging it with your intention. You can draw it on a piece of paper or carve it into a candle.
🪔Smoke Cleansing: Use garden sage or cedar to cleanse your space and yourself of negative energies.

Remember, protection spells and rituals are not just about physical protection, but also spiritual and emotional protection. Always trust your intuition and do what feels right for you.
(Note: This post has been edited after a commenter pointed out the ethical implications of smudging and using palo santo and white sage - alternative tools are detailed in this post. Thanks, @panthera-dei!)

Cleansing & Calming Salt

Here is a quick recipe I made for some salt to cleanse my crystals/spell jars and also charge them with some calming energy at the same time!
Ingredients:
Salt (cleansing & purifying)
Lavender (calming, relieves anxiety)
Chamomile (calming, soothing)
Rosemary (anti-depressive)
Simply mix the salt and herbs (I used a mortar and pestle but you could just mix in a bowl) and use however you like to use salt for cleansing. Feel free to substitute for herbs with similar correspondences, or for whatever intent you would like the salt to have!
Bonus tip!
Add to a spray bottle for an easy way to cleanse and calm whatever space you’re in with a quick spritz!
SMUDGING: Cleansing Your Space And Removing Negativity.

The art of smudging is an ancient spiritual ritual for purification, dispelling negative energy and improving mood and can easily be incorporated into your weekly routine or meditative practice.
But Why Don't Smudging Always Work? Because you probably not doing right or not using the right smudge. Certain ones ore use to fight and to clear, but it's also used for medicine. Lean the right process and Don't Be trying to fight demons.

Sage: Sage is one of the herbs that we see on all kinds of shows and tells us it can be used to rid a place of demons..No,No,No... Why? So when burned is brings in for wisdom, clarity, and increased spiritual awareness. Sage is spiritual, it's is use in ceremonies, it's, lit, and boiled, eaten as a medicine, its can be to clean a space, Items, tools. It can cleanses lower, and darker negative vibrational energies. (But it cannot get rid of heaver dark energies or dark entities like demons)
Now Why Is That? Well basically what happens is that when its use it put the spirit or entity in a state of rest or calms them down. BUT after it's clears and may be a few weeks of piece that start to wake get active. They gets more violent. We see this and hear this all the time someone sages, a minister comes in do a prayer everything is good for a while then get worse.
But one thing it doesn't do is bring back positive energies, just clears out the bad.
I only use to remove unwanted energies.

Palo Santo: The story goes that Palo Santo was found was by Spanish monks who discovered the tree centuries ago, they named it “palo santo” - “Holy Wood” or “The Wood Of The Saints.” Palo Santo has been used for centuries by shamans, Palo Mayombe Ceremony, Santeria, Vodou, Voodoo, Hoodoo for ritual prayer, ceremonies and healing. It can can enhance your creativity, productivity and increase good fortune.
Now it won't get rid of demons but It does clear your space of negative energy and fill it with positivity energy, and optimism.
"Think of it like this. If Sage CLEARS out the bad energies and Palo Santo BRINGS back the good energies. You can use both with a strong prayer"
Great to have.

Dragons Blood
There are three main uses for Dragon's Blood when it comes to spiritual rituals. It can be used for banishing, healing, and for protection works too. It's also can help give a positive mood and enhances productivity. (Due to its energy lifting and productivity-boosting abilities).
Dragons Blood Sage or incense will cleanse, heal and protect you and the energy in your space.

SWEET GRASS: Sweetgrass is an indigenous plant used by Native Americans, its is used in smudging ceremonies to help purify the environment and it can eliminate negative thoughts and energies or spirits by pushing them out of the house. This ceremony is helps the healing process occur without being distracted by negative influences.
In smudging, certain herbs are burned and the smoke is taken into the hands and brushed or rubbed over the body.

CEDIR: Cedar is another that works like sweet grass. Burning it help cleanse the body, mind, and soul of negative energy.
Ceder is often used to cleanse a new home or apartment etc, by bringing in positive energy and eliminate negative thoughts and energies or spirits by pushing them out of the house.
Cedar is also considered an herb of consecration that can welcome guardians to hold the energy of a ritual space
The smoke from this smudge is believed to connect the physical plane to the spiritual realm and open a portal to subtle energies.
You can use ceder ash for protection of a property or wear putting some it on the body.
You can make ash buy burning ceder untill it turn completely white. You can use any other wood asking as it not bought from a store collect it naturally burn until white then add ceder leaves with prayer for blessing.

Frankincense, Myrrh.
Tow of the best Holy Herbs. Used by priest to bless and cleansed a space. (Very powerful) Frankincense use for eliminating negativity, Myrrh helps maintain a state of enlightenment and purifies the premises from negative energy.
Good for removing bad spirits.
"It great for manifesting the Holy Spirit when use with prayer".

To Start:
• First you start with a simple intention of focusing on clearing the negative energy out of your space and mind. Once you have your intention in mind, light the Sage or Palo Santo and hold at a 45 degree angle pointing the tip down towards the flame. Allow it to burn for 30 seconds and then blow it out.
Place it on any heat-proof burning surface like an abalone shell, tray etc.
If left to rest the stick will smoulder and release smoke for approximately 5 mins. If used for smudging, walk around the room, space, object or person, fanning the smoke over its entirety, whilst focusing on cleansing and clearing negative energy.
(Make Shure you open a window or door to let out the energy.)
Imagined a white light covering your space. say a load I cover this space in holy white light and remove all negative energy from this space. (Or say a prayer) 2 Samuel 7:28-29 niv. Works for house Blessing.
PRAYERS.
"Dear Jesus, cleanse this house, allowing only love and light to remain".
"Father God, rid this place of all negativity, bringing in only positive vibrations."
You'll notice that I use the word love. Love energy has the highest vibration. Even invoking love can change the vibration of any location.
Next: open all doors and drawers in your home or space Pass the smoke around all door frames and mirrors to close my door ways and remove any energies that don't belong.
Once you’ve finished smudging and removed the negative energy, you must push positive energy into the space to maintain balance. To do this, declare your intention out loud or silently in your head.
Now we all know that not all spirits are negative. here's what to I would say to get rid of a Ghost in your home.
Help a Spirit Move On Prayer.
(I use a white candle for this prayer)
"I ask the angels to show this lost spirit the loving light of heaven and help them transition to the next place. "With love and light I cleanse this space to help them on their way to the next place".
So we're at the end of the post I wanted to ask if you can try to grow or pick them your self make an offering these plants have a spirit that needs to be respected and that helps when your helping others.
But if you cant pick or grow your own, I would blessed it and still make an offering.
Happy cleansing!
Storm Witch's Ward Water
You will need: ° storm water °thyme ° rosemary ° sage °sandalwood ° salt Put the solution into a dish and microwave until hot. Take a brush, dip it into the water and brush along the frames of your doors and windows. Once that is done, take the brush, dip it into the water, then flick the water into every corner of the room. Repeat the process with as many rooms that need to be cleansed.
Do you have a master post about cleansing methods?
I hadn’t made one yet, not like the rest of my lists on my page or the ones floating around in posts, but I can throw one together here super quick. It won’t be, like, every cleansing post I can find after hours of searching, but it should be adequate enough.

Some simple methods of cleansing:
lighting a candle and letting the light / fire cleanse the space
lighting a cleansing incense (like sandalwood)
opening a window and letting the wind sweep in and clear out any negative junk
ring a bell or hang wind chimes to encourage positivity / happiness and dispel negativity
you can make a simple cleansing spray with warm water, sea salt, and rosemary, but the salt may leave a bit of a residue on some surfaces
enchant a cleaning product so that as you clean your room you are also cleansing it
additionally, add a bit of vinegar or lemon juice to cleaning products and then enchant them for a further boost
My library computer time ran out doing this list - it took me almost an hour. I’m still not done, but I hope it’s adequate… for now. :p
Smoke Cleansing

~Smoke cleansing is a way of using the smoke from burning herbs as a way to cleanse the body, an object or an area of negative influences. Smudging is a Native American tradition that incorporates more than just cleansing with smoke. It involves specific rituals and chants. I am not Native American, and therefore know nothing about smudging. So I will teach you about smoke cleansing. Cultures all around the world have been cleansing with smoke for centuries.
~An herb bundle is a bundle of dried herbs, most commonly white sage (Salvia apiana). Often, other herbs or botanicals are added, and the leaves are bound with string in a small bundle and dried. Other herbs that may be used with or in place of white sage include: common sage, rosemary, juniper, cilantro, cedar, lavender, sweetgrass, and mugwort. ~Magical practitioners regard smoke cleansing rituals as psychologically and spiritually cleansing, and as a means of clearing negative energy. You can cleanse yourself or others by lighting an herb bundle and, with your hand or a feather, fanning the smoke in the appropriate direction. Cleanse your home for purification, and to repel and cleanse evil influences. For cleansing your home, first offer the smoke to each of the Quarters, them go through each room, making sure the smoke penetrates every nook and cranny. Then light a white candle to - literally - light up your home. ~Always perform smoke cleansing with care and reverence, and in an attitude of love. Honor the plants in the bundle, and they will keep you well and free from disease and negative energy.
~How to Cleanse Your Home With Smoke~
– Over time, even the happiest homes accumulate negative vibrations, so it is good to cleanse your home thoroughly at least several times a year. You can also cleanse your office space and use smoke cleansing to clear personal energy. -Materials:
Herb bundle.
White candle.
A fireproof container with sand in the bottom.
-Instructions:
~Place the candle, the fireproof container, and the herb stick on a table or any other appropriate surface. It is best if you create a sense of ceremony when you cleanse your home, as well as find time when you will not be disturbed; about 15 minutes should be enough.
~Light the candle and say a prayer or just focus your energy. Light the tip of your stick with a candle light, then gently wave the stick in the air till the tip begins to smoulder.
~Hold the stick over the fireproof container at all times in order to keep any lit herbs from falling on your clothes, draperies, bedding, furniture, or the floor. Many people use a feather, others simply wave their hands to disperse the smoke. In theory, wafting the smoke of the stick with a feather keeps the negative energy from attaching to your hand. Stay connected to your breathing throughout the session.
~Go clockwise (counterclockwise in the southern hemisphere. It goes by the way the earth rotates around the sun) around your home (usually starting at the front door), and gently wave the smoke into the air. Spend a bit more time cleansing the room corners, as they tend to accumulate stagnant energy. Be sure to also open the closet doors and carefully cleanse the inside. Do not forget about spaces such as the halls, the laundry room, the garage, or the basement.
~When you have cleansed all areas of your house, return to where you started and gently extinguish your stick (dipping it into sand while applying a bit of pressure usually works well). Wait a bit so it can cool, then pack away your stick and container until your next session. You can leave the candle lit, if you so desire, to continue to purify the energy.
~How to Cleanse Yourself or Another Person With Smoke~
-Materials:
Herb bundle.
White candle.
A fireproof container with sand in the bottom.
-Instructions:
~Refer to steps one and two above.
~Once your stick is lit and smouldering, direct the smoke waves to the overall energy field around your body, starting with the area above your head and continuing down to your feet. Breathe deeply while you do so.
~Some people prefer to begin with the soles of the feet, going up both sides of the legs, torso and arms, and then finishing by cleansing the space above the head. See what works best for you.
~The same steps apply when you are asked to cleanse somebody else, be it a friend or a child. It is usually a good idea to cleanse yourself before or after you cleanse the house.

cleansing spell
this one’s great to help realign yourself when you’re just feeling a bit off, or if you feel like you’ve picked up other people’s energy, etc
what you’ll need;
white candle (birthday, tea light, whatever!)
sugar
honey
rosemary
lemon
glass of drinking water
☁️ in front of a fire safe bowl/whatever place your glass of drinking water. now lay a hefty pile of sugar into your bowl, you need enough to hold your candle upright, make sure to place it in the center of your sugar. going clockwise, add your honey in three circles around your candle. then take your rosemary (if it’s whole crumble it in your palm, if it’s powdered dw) now sprinkle it clockwise on top of and slightly around the outside edge of your honey circle, making three more circles. take your lemon and cut it in half, put one half in front of your candle next to the glass and begin to charge it with your intentions as you complete the spell. gently squeeze the lemon juice around the candle clockwise again like everything else until it’s given up most of its juice, make sure you’re working your intentions into everything as you do this, now light your candle. with the second half of the lemon slowly and gently squeeze most or all of its juice into your cup of water that’s been charging in front of the candle. work your intentions in as you do and drink up while you let your candle go out <3
Peaceful Release Spell
A lot of us have been in a position where we need to part with someone, but still want the best for them. Maybe they're an ex who you can't stop thinking about but still wish them the best, or a friend who you've forgiven but aren't willing to invite back into your life.
If you're finding yourself in a position like this, and setting boundaries with them isn't working the way you wish it would, you may want to try this beginner-friendly, easy bay leaf peaceful release spell.

What you will need:
A bay leaf (For setting intentions)
A bit of apple (Healing, Friendship, Love)
A pen/marker
A tall place with a decent breeze
How to cast:
Before you leave your home, write their name on the bay leaf and cleanse your ingredients as well as yourself. Prepare yourself for setting boundaries and understand that you're doing what is best for you.
Go to a tall place on a windy day, and set your intention to peacefully release the person. You'll want this place to be windy and high enough so that the bay leaf will be carried far away from you when you toss it. The further it goes, the more effective the results.
After setting your intentions, take a bit of your apple and gently rub a bit of apple juice onto the ends of the bay leaf. Apples can help manifest healing, and they also invoke feelings of friendship and care - this will assure the spell is cast in a friendly manner.
Stand a safe distance from the edge, and gently toss the bay leaf into the wind. Watch it whisk away, and try to imagine it carrying away your desire to stay in touch with them. Say your goodbyes.
Just like that, you've performed a spell that will help encourage you to release someone from your life with nothing but the best intentions for them. It's a safe, easy spell; one that I've used several times myself.
As always, be safe with your practicing, and make sure you're working with cleansed ingredients and space. Blessed be everyone.

Fuck Off Oil (Banishing Oil)
Sometimes, just saying “fuck off” doesn’t quite do the trick. Whether it’s unsatisfying or doesn’t repel the asshole you’re trying to get rid of, it might be time to pull out the big guns.
This banishing oil is a revamped version of an oil I made for an old friend many years ago. The original purpose was to rid her home of a nasty invasive spirit and then keep it away, since it had already been banished and returned a few times. She used it to anoint her mirrors, windows, doors, and even herself, followed by a large black pillar candle coated in more of the oil and burned every day until it was just a lump of wax.
It worked perfectly for her purposes, so I have taken that old recipe and recreated it in my current style for my current needs. If you saw my earlier rant post, then you know what this is for. If not, that’s okay - just know that someone has tested my patience and taken advantage of my kindness, and now they should kindly fuck off forever.
Like most of my spells and spell ingredients, this oil is 100% edible… and pretty tasty! See my notes below for ideas on how to use it.
Ingredients:
Oil of Your Choice (I used olive oil because it’s what was in my cabinet)
Salt
Pepper
Red Chili Flakes
Smoked Paprika
Garlic, minced
Onion Powder
Oregano, dried
Caraway Seeds
Coriander
Bay Leaf
A Jar or Bottle
Instructions:
Measure how much oil you will need to fill your jar or bottle of choice. You can pour the oil into a bowl or use a measuring cup to both measure and mix your oil, which is what I did. Fewer dishes to wash at the end!
Add each of your ingredients, one at a time, to the oil. Leave the bay leaf for last, and see step 3. I added the ingredients in the order that they are listed, but you can do them in whatever order suits you best. Be sure to give each a purpose tied back to the person, spirit, or other bothersome creature you are banishing (some ingredients have protective properties; see my note below for how I assigned a purpose to each).
Stir your mixture well. Really whip it. Beat the hell out of it. Etc.
Bay leaves are often used in wish magic or as vehicles for sigils. For our purposes, hold the leaf with both hands and stare at it hard. Think of the person, spirit, or thing you are banishing. Whisper or shout your desire to keep them away from you, adding any specifics you like. Stuff the leaf into your jar or bottle whole.
Pour your mixture into the jar or bottle over the bay leaf. Be sure to get all of the bits of garlic in there.
Cap the jar or bottle and give it a good shake. I recommend letting it sit and infuse for a few days to get a really good flavor going, but you can use it immediately if you want. Just be sure to shake it well to charge it before use.
This oil is good for up to six months, though it may last longer. Keep an eye on it; if it forms mold, throw it away immediately. Keep your jar or bottle in a cool, dark space. Refrigeration is optional, but it’ll last longer if you keep it in the fridge.
Notes:
As with most oils, there are many uses for this recipe. It can be either a spell on its own, or you can create it to be a component in another spell. Or both! Both is good.
I like to use this to cook vegetables like brussels sprouts, asparagus, and potatoes, but you could also use it in a stir fry or to cook meats. This oil also makes for a very pleasant salad dressing when mixed with red wine vinegar or apple cider vinegar. It would be both funny and effective to feed a Fuck Off Salad to your target. If you want to do this, I recommend making it extra spicy, especially if they hate spice and you’re feeling especially vindictive.
If you’re not looking to eat this oil in some way, you can also use it to anoint candles for a banishing spell. Or, if you want to get a little more involved, you can submerge a taglock or poppet in the oil to symbolize the person you are repelling. This would be a great way to continuously banish someone or something if they keep trying to return. Plus, it can have the added benefit of being… uncomfortable for the target.
Here are the purposes I assigned to each ingredient; feel free to use these or come up with your own based off your own experiences:
Salt - Protect the caster during the creation and use of the oil, repel bad vibes and start the process of cleansing
Pepper - First line of fuck off; give a reason or a particular attribute that you want gone, such as “aggression” and “lying”
Chili flakes - Second line of fuck off, this time with ✨spice✨; I assigned “threats” and “rancid vibes” to this ingredient
Garlic - Third line of fuck off; protection against further nonsense, repelling them from contacting me
Onion - Keeping away pests; I use the layers of the onion to symbolize the layers of “fuck off” in the oil and reinforce each one
Oregano - Now comes the part where we protect ourselves from the offending party’s possible retaliation! This is protection from backlash and luck for the success of the spell. This has extra power for me, since my mom grew this oregano and is superbly pissed about someone threatening her kids!
Caraway seeds - Boosting my convictions and inner power, preventing the spell from backfiring on me (the target(s) are also witches, so this was very important to include!)
Coriander - Personal protection against further nonsense, cementing this oil as a line of self-defense
If you use this oil in a spell, let me know how you liked it, if you made any substitutions, and/or how it worked for you!
Happy Banishing, Witches!
