traumatised “gifted” kids who are desperately trying to make studying an aesthetic so they are motivated to do it 

theatre kids who think greek plays and shakespeare are The Shit™️

those mfs who think they’re superior because they like jane austen and who make a big deal out of looking Mortally Wounded when someone calls the assigned reading (usually gatsby or wuthering heights) Boring

former emo kids who are now in college and want to be edgy but also appear well adjusted  

kids with adhd that can only learn something if they make it their hyperfixiation 

marauder stans who got into dorian gray and dead poets society bc of the fancasts 

The found family trope is for those who were never a first choice. Those that always carried the baggage but received no tips in exchange. It’s for those that needed a wall to lean on but learned to build one on their own . They looked at people as potential. As someone who could very well become an important part of their life. This is the trope for those who listened but were never heard, those that seeked an idea of a home in souls and not walls. It is for the ones that yearn for a love the weight of blood, but came with no obligation- no -they wanted to be chosen , they wanted a familial bond that escaped the scopes of biology . They wish for their presence to have meaning. For it to be significant. And for their absence to be nagging. Brutal. Loud.

this is not a poem as much as it is a reminder that it’s okay if today feels just like another day and not the special event everyone makes it out to be it’s okay if you have to search for festive feelings and it’s okay if you turn up finding nothing sometimes we can’t force it, or fake it til we make it sometimes we have to just let ourselves feel what we feel instead of pretending because pretending is so exhausting and if there’s anything you should do right now, it’s rest release the weight of this past year off of your shoulders and allow yourself to just exist without the pressure of being merry if there’s one gift you deserve it’s the freedom to feel however you feel

I don’t know who needs to hear this but be nice to fanfic authors. Reblog their stuff. Tell them you liked it. How you felt when reading. What school assignment you didn’t finish because of how captivating their story was. Don’t just scream to your friends about it. But tell them.

So many wonderfully talented people out there don’t get the praise they need. If their work brought you joy, make their day better by telling them it did.
