what food do you give your cat? i mean, i know this is a dog blog and all :~)

Well, I do occasionally blog about my cat :)

I feed her a rotating cast of high-quality kibble with the occasional wet food. Since she’s been pregnant, we’ve had her on kitten food, and given her wet food at least once daily.

Kida’s first kitten

was stillborn :(

She did such a great job cleaning him up and trying to bring him back but there was nothing to be done since he wasn’t alive to begin with. Poor girl. I can feel at least two more in there, so we’re not through yet.

If anyone wants to see, there’s a picture of the stillborn under the cut. He looks like such a sweetie. May he rest in peace.

We've been watching Kida closely as she's looking very pregnant now (although you probably can't tell from the picture-- she is normally a very tiny cat) and we're anticipating her milk coming in any day now and then kittens soon after. Today I set up my old Ferret Nation cage as a sort of "safe space" for her to relax and start nesting in, and a place where we can keep her when no one's home and know she won't start giving birth under a bed or something. This is our first time doing it this way so fingers crossed it goes better than last time when she was squirting birthing fluids all over my six-year-old's bed. I have a good feeling about it-- we have the towel over her "nest" to give her privacy, but I can easily access it from the door if she goes into labor and needs help.

Okay so, my parents were in Costa Rica this past month and look at this beautiful snake they found in their pool! Does anyone know what kind of snake it is? Maybe @bendragon-cumbersmaug ? I thought it was strange that it was partially in the water.
