i saw someone talking about veronica x jd earlier and it got me thinking more about this

i think a lot of the time people try to excuse that sort of stuff with “they’re just characters!! let people ship what they want!!!”

but that’s the sort of reasoning i would expect to see used on a rare pare, or characters from different media, or self insert ships

not for ships that have a canonically toxic / abusive relationship

it kinda makes me upset

if you want to publicly make things romanticizing something problematic, you can not get upset when you rightfully get backlash
