⸢ FURINA'S HAIR: SYMBOLISM ⸥

OTHER NOTES ➽ My personal interpretation of our beloved archon's design, specifically the way she styled her hair in all forms.

SPOILERS ➽ SPOILERS FOR 4.2 ARCHON QUEST, PROCEED WITH CAUTION!

Focalors, who had pure straight hair. Seamlessly luscious befitting that of the divine.

Focalors, who separated her humanity and divinity, one day seeking that human half for a greater goal.

Focalors, who approached a short-haired Furina that possessed the same raw curiosity for living as Focalors did when she first left her watery form. So young yet so full of life.

Furina, accepting a role at the cost of herself, donning a polished attire that still resembled her human apparel.

Furina, who faced the eager audience that was Fontaine with the same long curls as Focalors, which was unlikely to have grown naturally in such a rushed length of time.

Furina, who paraded a unique haircut, yet you can see where the end of her short hair is, and where the temporary locks start.

Furina, who had shown us in her mental stage the rigorous pursuit of a solution for the prophecy; working with both her true human self and the godly persona she played.

Furina, who, unlike Focalor’s hair, had a distinct cut that’d separate the short thrill of humanity and the long lamentation of an archon.

Furina, who unlike Focalors', was always a figurehead even in design, one who didn’t have the same true divinity as Focalors.

Focalors, who, unlike Furina, didn’t have the pleasure of experiencing the glory of a god to her people nor the amusing titillation of a human.

Focalors, who will forever outgrow her hair until it’s long enough for even the Oratrice Mecanique d'Analyse Cardinale to chop it, thus ending her divine run.

Furina, who, unlike Focalors', was able to live out her humanity even when the long tresses of divinity were cut from her hair. Only appearing when assuming a fleeting role as Fontaine’s archon.

Furina, who may now grow her hair at her own pace, not as an artificial divinity, but as a human who yearned for spectacle.

Focalors, who designed her human self in a way that’d allow for Furina to grow, because that’s the one thing she knew she couldn’t fulfill herself, as evidenced by the lengthy tresses that flow behind her before her demise.

Focalors, whose hair is unnaturally split into two, might've been the forewarning of her two halves.

Focalors, and her humanity, are differentiated by the consequences of cutting their hair, of cutting their divinity.

Okay, need to rant! Just done the 4.2 archon quest. Legit shed tears. I did not like Furina persona, but holy shit.

Big spoilers incoming!

Focalors is beautiful.

The Jp voice did a beautiful work on voice, with all three having a different feel. Actress Furina, true Furina and Focalors all have their style, and it's beautiful.

Furina suffered so much and yet. Fuck, until the very end she kept pushing.

The animation is great.

Truly the best archon quest yet, but fuck. It was so painful. We have the curse "May you live eternal" for a reason.

At start I was like fuck Focalors, your human half suffered, and then I realized what the damocles bladz was for and just... damn. Damn.

I'm goong to need a few days to digest this. This just is... painful.

Wouln't Rex Lapis count as his others face?

I just finished the 4.2 Archon Quest and i can't help but continue to be suspicious of Zhongli for being the only version of him to ever exists in Teyvat.

There are the nameless Bard and Venti.

There are Makoto and Ei.

There are Rukkhadevata and Nahida.

and now Focalors and Furina.

Every Archon has some kind of Double or Doppelganger, or simply a Mirrorself - someone who LOOKS and acts like the first or tries to live the former dreams, goals and ideals. They aren't the only one with their face, there were at some point two of them in Teyvat (As if they were twins, but only one remained...well, in case of makoto and ei that's literally what happend but you get it) There already once was someobody conscious with the Face the current Archon wears.

Except for Zhongli. He is the only one with a face that belongs just to him. There is no counterpart or mirror, no friend or sibling, he didnt split himself into two, his face is unique and yet he is also the only one who keeps it hidden in every cutscene...

I'm not the only one who picked up on that! I swear, this was so sus, and just so sliggtly off and off-beat to the situation.

Paimon, whose friendship with the Traveller had been emphasized a LOT these past 2 regions, looking like a chibi parallel version to the unknown god, suddenly asking existential questions about what you’d do if your home stopped existing the next day, while being in the land of prophecies that is currently being screwed over by Celestia while we still have the mystery of that other time a technologically advanced nation got screwed over by Celestia.

Girl please stop accidentally foreshadowing the endboss fight against you

Hella 4.2 spoilers

Um. Um. Um. What was all that with Childe??? What was that??????

He shows up all crazy. Fights a bigass whale. Falls into a random abyss hole(?) AGAIN. Disappears for like an hour. Shows back up finally. Is laying unconscious(?) for MAYBE 2 and half seconds. Is THROWN FULL FORCE INTO THE ABYSS HOLE? LIKE A FUCKING? SOFTBALL????????? NEVER TO BE SEEN AGAIN????????????

And then later almost as an afterthought theyre like “oh yeah dw he’s at home Resting. Nah it’s chill.” WHAT????? HOW DID HE GET THERE? Did he just land on the ground and think “well, time to hop on a boat or some shit like that and head back. Never mind that I don’t have my vision or anything. That’s chill.” Did she make a fucking portal or something??? Did she slam dunk his ass right back to morepesok??? I have. So many. Questions

4.2 spoilers but it's interesting how Scaramouche and Furina were both made as replacements. But while Ei saw Scara's humanity as a flaw, Focalors thought that's what made Furina perfect.

I need the two of them to interact

Oh nothing special to see there, just the 11th of the Fatui Harbingers running away from the Melusines...🤭
