Acd Watson - Tumblr Posts - Page 4
So I love everything Sherlock so much that it doesn't occur to me that other people don't know anything about it. Like I'm so deep in the rabbit hole (even after just a few weeks of being in the fandom because the great thing about my hyperfixations is that I consume and remember everything I've read or watched about it) I expect my incessant ramblings to actually make sense.
I just realised today that nobody in my immediate family knows who John Watson is. They don't know 221B Baker Street. I've been babbling on about the complexities of Sherlock when they don't even know who John Hamish Watson is.
I'm officially heartbroken.

cat-watson.... catson xD
I often see canon Holmes and Watson's default state pictured as

but what I read them as, is rather

and I think that's a lot funnier
give me holmes and watson in a queerplatonic relationship. give me holmes and watson that never marry and never get married. give me holmes and watson that remain eternal bachelors in the eyes of the world, because they've already found the partner they want to spend their life with. give me holmes and watson sharing soft moments of domesticity. give me holmes playing the violin every night because he knows it helps watson fall asleep. give me watson making holmes breakfast because he knows holmes forgets to eat when he's on a case. give me holmes and watson sharing a quiet night in after a good adventure, sitting by the fire and laughing heartily at their exploits, or putting together a jigsaw puzzle on a sunday afternoon. give me watson yelling at holmes for solving the crossword before him every morning because he wasn't even looking at the newspaper, he's just sitting over there smoking his pipe with that devilish look in his eye. give me holmes and watson sleeping in separate beds but in the same room; watson's side is neat as a pin and holmes' side is an unholy mess. watson begs him to clear it up. holmes knows where everything is and refuses to upset its delicate balance. give me holmes and watson bickering like an old married couple. give me watson helping holmes get dressed for a social event he probably doesn't want to go to, and gently knotting his tie. give me holmes and watson who love each other more than anything in the world, and it would never cross their minds to be physical with each other. they don't need to. they already know they're each other's soulmate.
give me holmes and watson in a queerplatonic relationship.
ok someone in the notes pointed out that this make holmes sound like an addams and now i need a crossover between sherlock holmes and the addams family.
just imagine it: holmes is a distant cousin who's completely unfazed by the addams' weirdness. one day, he introduces them to watson. morticia finds out he has no family of his own and instantly adopts him. gomez is delighted upon learning he's a soldier, dubbing him "a man of honor" and immediately challenging him to a duel. wednesday informs him that holmes regularly sends her watson's stories: she enjoys the gory details of the cases, and wishes he'd dwell on them more. pugsley wants to know how to survive decapitation and disembowelment. watson is deeply unsettled, yet a little endeared.
after a weekend with the addams, he's beginning to understand where holmes' bizarre sense of humor came from.
it's always funny to me whenever adaptations make sherlock holmes this brooding, edgy cynic, because in acd canon sherlock holmes has a fantastic sense of humor and is always so amused by everything. i mean, the sheer amount of times this man just bursts out laughing upon realizing something fundamental about a case is kind of iconic in the original stories. he really is just this funny little man who finds a special sort of joy in the macabre.
Too many Sherlock Holmes adaptations forget the Sherlock Holmes who told Watson the story of one of his early jobs to get out of cleaning their flat
pov: the solitary cyclist and the disappearance of lady frances carfax

now who is this fellow supposed to be? clearly not frosty...
I always find it hilarious when more recent adaptations of Sherlock Holmes makes Holmes the dreamy heartthrob/attractive one (not that he’s not a total catch) because my dudes, Watson is right there. He is literally like a Victorian wet dream, he is everything that classic Victorian period would find appealing- adventurous, fought for his country, learned, has groomed facial hair (legit that was like the equivalent of being 6’ tall today), polite. He’s got just enough “melancholy” (depression) and rakishness (gambling) to still be a gentleman but like a bad boy gentleman. A real Romantic (both romance how we think of it today and like Romanticism) archetype. If anyone is the heartthrob here, it is Watson.
In my mind, Watson uses this religiously.
It's been a hot second since I've seen a picture of a Victorian mustache cup on here so look at this one in all its glory

This is a sippy cup. You just invented a sippy cup for manly men who want to go to tea parties and not feel emasculated by drinking too fast and getting their perfectly coifed mustaches droopy I can't
I just picture Mrs. Hudson gifting these to Sherlock on his birthday <3

clocking in for another shift in the holmes watson headcanon mines
This is my favourite Sherlock Holmes story in every adaptation, and I still get giddy everytime the letters back and forth come up, because it's really just Holmes and Watson getting an excuse to send eachother love letters like the sappy old men they are.
Rewatched Granada Hound of the Baskervilles yesterday and Sir Henry knows what’s what.
Best doctor I've ever known, to be honest
shot. fainted. look slightly unwell. difficulty breathing. shaken nerves. seizure.
watson: GIVE THIS MAN SOME BRANDY
John and Sherlock love eachother.
That's it. That"s the post.
If you think differently, with all due respect and on behalf of 137 years of Sherlock Fans, you can shove your opinions up your ass.
Then go find a clue.
What really gets me going in reading the original Sherlock Holmes stories and seeing the way Watson and Sherlock address eachother and speak of eachother with such casual affection and adoration. Like Doyle wasn’t hiding anything, it isn’t subtext at all.
“My dear Watson.”
“A friend?”
Besides you, my dear Watson, I have none.”
The way Watson speaks of him and his brilliant mind and way of living is like when you’re in love and enchanted for the first time and you don’t even realize it. Like who knew the greatest love story of all time was two raggedy men in a flat in London? Like I’m floored everytime I read it
The things I would do to get my hands on this...

The silver cigarette case given by Arthur Conan Doyle to Sidney Paget as a wedding gift, inscribed “From Sherlock Holmes” x
I imagine them both doing this often, because it's no secret that they're a little obsessed with the other, and having collections of photos/letters from one another.

Fellas is it gay to send your flatmate a picture of yourself for him to cherish, with a caption saying you miss him?
And is it gay to then track down the flatmate who says he misses you, send him a photograph in return, and show up where he is?
