I ignore his words looking behind him seeing Jane with a proud smile, her mind filled with the good news of their successful mission “My lords” Jane bowed, my eyes meet the lovely crimson of my mate, my squeals echo of the walls as I speed towards him, he opens his arms for me, picking me off the ground as I wrap my arms around his neck and holding his body close to mine. “I missed you so much” I say, pulling back, Alec looks into my eyes, placing a hand on the side of my face as I nuzzle into it lovingly “I missed you more” he muttered, pulling me back to him.

We leave the throne room and walk the endless halls of the castle, Jane stealing me away from Alec having his body stiffen as Dimitri and Felix leave to feed. “Did you listen to the music I suggested before we left?” Jane asked, linking arms with me as we walked down the halls “most of it, I have a few more to go through” I laugh with her, looking over my shoulder to see a pouting Alec as Jane smiles at me, his fingers twitching in front of him. “That’s fine, we can listen to them together if you would like?” I smile at her “I would love that but we can’t do it know sadly, Alec doesn’t look to happy” I comment, he looks away as we both turn to him, Jane smiling at her brother before she un-links her arms “He’s been sulky ever since we left, I’m sure you can perk him up” she giggled before leaving, Alec stared at me, opening his mouth before I touch his nose with my pointing finger, applying a light amount of pressure to his skin before smiling up at him “You’ll have to catch me for cuddles” I call out before turning and making a run for it, I hear light chuckles behind me as I run through the halls at top speed, avoiding patrolling guards. “I’m going to catch you Astrid!” He yelled ahead of me; I almost crash into a wall when making a risky turn but stop myself just in time.

I turn back behind me, seeing his speed increase as he reaches his arms out, I stop and fall to the ground, holding my head as I hear a light crack, looing up I see a man, his crimson eyes look at me with wide frames before he smirks and holds a handout to me. “Seems like you need to look where you’re going” he chuckles, my eyes widen before I feel Alec’s present behind me “Are you hurt?” he asked, looking me over but I shake my head with a smile “I’m fine, my head is all healed, see?” I say moving my auburn hair out of the way to reveal the healed pale skin. “Okay” he sighed before, helping me up and turning to the guy “Apologize to her” Alec demanded, the man raised a brow before crossing his arms “It’s okay Alec, I should have been looking where I was going?” I attempt to calm him down before the guys scoffs “You heard her, she wasn’t watching where she was going” he said before turning and starting to walk away, he winked at me before turning around a corner. My eyes widen before Alec takes a step, but I wrap my arms around him “It’s okay, let him go” I tell him, his arms come around my own “Let me go Astrid” he seethed but I hold on “Alec, please just let him go, he’s probably had a bad day” I try to calm him before he stops, he looks at me with dark eyes.

“Shower” my eyebrows furrow but he picks me up, pulling my legs around his stomach “Alec?” I question as he speeds through the halls “You need to take a shower, he touched you” he seethed, opening our bedroom door, I went to object when he opens the bathroom door and turns the shower on, walking in with our clothes on, I squeal at the cold water as it starts to heat up. “Your mine understood?” my eyes widen as I look up at him, he pushes me up against the shower wall as water drips down our bodies “Nobody can ever take you away from me, nobody can touch you like I can” his words echo in my head as his hands start to trace my body, fingers felt through the soaked fabric as I stare up at him with wide eyes and parted lips having him lean forward and kiss me passionately. He pushed some curls out of her face and traced a single finger down her arm to her thigh before tracing it down her leg and to her ankle, her body weaved in between red silk sheets as she stayed still, her chest not moving as a side effect of being dead but not gone.

Alec walked out of their shared room and walk down the halls walking into a room he knew all too well “Brother? What has you up so early?” Jane had asked her twin, her words lost when seeing his dark look “I need your help with a situation” Jane raised a brow at her brother’s behavior, remembering him being like this a few years ago and not even a few days later was a guard killed and the culprit never found. “Alec, what has happened?” Jane asked, Alec looked at his twin “I cannot let such filth get away with touching my mate” Jane feels her grip tighten on her door “Give me a moment to change” He nodded before leaving the room, the door closing behind him as he leaned beside it, waiting for his sister and the revenge he would wreak on the vampire that attempting to cover his mate in filth.

I smile down at Alec, using my fingers to trace his features, holding the red silk sheets to shield my body as I stare at his face, his features, his curves and dips and lines that were on his face, admiring the soft look he had, he smiled opening one eye to look up at me and my cheeks turn pale pink at his gaze. “Did you sleep well? “Alec, Astrid, wake up!” we both spring up from the bed, the red silk sheets covering my body as I look at the door “What’s happened?” Alec asks, arms coming around me “One of the guards has been killed, so hurry up!” shadows are seen under the door before I release a breath “We better go” I say, standing up, walking over to the draws I grab robes, hearing Alec’s groan. “Who would kill a guard?” I ask Alec, pulling the clothes on “depends on who it is?” Alec played off, before getting up and grabbing robes of his own as I put my auburn hair in a respectable braid as I turn to Alec, seeing his do his buttons up. I walk over and swat his hands away as I start to do them up “What do you think happened?” I ask, looking up at him before back at my fingertips “He probably pissed someone off” he shrugged, my eyebrows furrow before I finish the last one. “I’ll see you there” I tell him, he smiles leaning forward and kissing my forehead before my cheek’s and nose and finally my lips “I’ll get Jane” he muttered, I nod leaning up and kissing his again before I leave the room, my heels echoing on the stone floor as I walk to the scene.

My eyes widen when seeing the man from yesterday in a bathtub, his head snapped off and resting in his lap with a bar of soap hanging out of his mouth, the water holding the body was cold as vampires all hanged around. “Astrid?” I look at Dimitri to see his furrowed brows “I know him” I say, Dimitri’s eyes widen before looking at the vampire. “He just started here a while ago, his name’s Richard and he has the ability to walk through solid barriers” I say, Dimitri looks around before dragging me out of the room and down the hall away from everyone “How do you know him?” I look up at Dimitri, before leaning on the wall “He’s been bothering me for a few days, after you left, he arrived and he wouldn’t leave me alone, I bumped into him yesterday with Alec and-“ “With Alec? You bumped into the man that has been harassing you with Alec?” I nod before seeing his gaze, looking through his mind I see it twist to seeing Alec killing another vampire of giving looks to others that have looked at me, touched me “Alec wouldn’t’ have done this, I didn’t tell him about him” I tell Dimitri, he looks around the halls one last time before pulling me into his arms, my mind fuzzing over as I’m unable to concentrate on his thoughts “He’s gone now, so you don’t have to worry about it anymore okay?” I nod, wrapping my arms around him.

Alec stared at Dimitri as they share a look across the hall “I know what you did” Dimitri muttered to Alec, his little sisters’ mate “What did I do?” Alec asked, curious of his response “We both know what you did, I don’t need to tell you but I’m curious, did you know that he has been harassing her ever since we left for Forks?” Alec glared at him, angered by the un-knowing information but now understanding the babbling the vampire said before he was killed “No, I didn’t” Dimitri nods looking out the hall before back at him. “She’s convinced that it’s not you, but I know it is, I’ve seen the look you give when you kill, I know what your capable of” Alec stared at Dimitri, his emotions replicating a sense of respect for his comrade “Then we’ve come to an understanding, I’ll protect Astrid with every fiber of my being and will dispose of anyone that gets in my way or comes between us” Dimitri nods, understanding to some extent of how a vampire is when they have a mate not having one of his own, yet.

“Just make sure she doesn’t get hurt because of you, she trust’s you and relies on you, she doesn’t know your bloodlust like we do so make sure that you don’t get caught and she doesn’t find out” Alec nods at his words, confused as to why Astrid wouldn’t understand that he was protecting her, that he would kill anyone for her, protect her and love her like he was created too. “Good luck Alec” Dimitri muttered before leaving the dark hallway they had resided in, Alec watching him leave as he leans against the wall, his thoughts hide in shadows when he feels a hand grab his, flowers and fruits enter his nose as he looks up to see beautiful Auburn hair and soft eyes “Are you okay Alec?” he smiles softly, reaching out and pulling her against his chest, he smiles layering her skin in soft kisses “I’m content my love” she smiles up at me, her smile gorgeous “We should probably go feed” I smile softly, leaning down to kiss her lips “In a moment” she giggles as Alec pushes her against the wall, his lips meeting her with sharing smiles.

I laugh with Jane, covering my face with my book as she tells me more stories about her and Alec “-Then we sped away before Felix found out only to crash into each other, we both admitted to what we did but were shocked to find out we planned the same thing!” she laughed, I laugh, my eyes closing as I picture their faces , my book resting in my lap “I wish I was there” I laugh, she smiles taking my hand in her own “We got in so much trouble though” I shrug, looking down at my book as Jane starts talking about a new song she had started listening to before I feel soft kisses planted on my neck, I smile looking up at Alec as his arms come around me, pulling me up from the couch, the blanket me and Jane had placed over us falling away as he lifts me into his arms, holding me close. “Alec, I want to spend time with Astrid” Jane whined, Alec smiled at his twin before kissing my forehead “I haven’t seen my mate for weeks Jane, let me have this” he muzzled into my neck as I smile at Jane, she rolls her eyes before waving her hand softly having Alec smile as he pulls me away and out of the door as we start to walk down the halls.

“Where are we going?” I ask, he smiles looking down at me “Back to our room” my cheeks turn red from the look he was giving me “but we- we already did…..that” I get out looking at the ground as he laughs “Not enough” Alec chuckled before my smile drops when seeing what hall where in, the one where I crashed into Richard, images of seeing his wide eyes as his head gets broken off filling my mind, having them widen as I turn to Alec, seeing a murderous look as he looks at the ground. “Alec” I call quietly, he looks to me with a small smile before seeing my face, his features relax as he starts to walk again “h-how could you do that?” I ask, looking up at him as he continues to carry me to our room. “He touched what was mine Astrid, your mine and you always will be, he touched you, he had to die” I look away from his emotionless face as he spoke, not wanting to see him like that.

The door to our room opens as he closes it, he stops for a moment before his head leans down and he places kisses along my neck, trailing them but I don’t respond, seeing the same image of Richard repeatedly. He stops for a moment before he sighs “Just let it go” he whispered, I look up at me “How can I let go that you killed him because-“ “Because he touched you Astrid, I did it all for you” my eyes widen as I get out of his arms, staring at him. “Alec, he didn’t deserve to die” he scoffs, looking down at me “He should never have lived in the first place, he was dirty, I couldn’t let him touch you, cover you in his filth” my eyes widen at his words, Alec had never been like this, he’d never referred to anyone beside the humans in his village, he had never looked so hateful before. “Alec, you’re scaring me” I whisper, his eyes soften as he walks forward, grabbing my face in his hands “It’s okay Astrid, I’ll always be there for you, I’ll always protect you” his lips smash to mine in a protective manner but I place my hands against his chest and for the first time since meeting him, I pushed him away having his eyes widen as he looks down at me.

“What’s wrong?” he asked, I look up at him “You killed someone for touching me Alec, that’s not okay” his eyebrows furrow as he holds my face “Please Astrid, you have to understand that I love you” my heart breaks as I look up at him “That I can never lose you, that you leaving me will never be an option, your mine…forever” my eyes widen as I stare at him his eyes looking down at me with love as he leans forward and kisses me again. I fight against him, trying to push him away, to have him understand that what he did was wrong but he grabs my hands in one of his, restraining them to my chest as he kisses me, I try to move back, away from him but he follows me backwards onto the bed, I open my mouth to tell him to stop but he slips his tongue in, my hands above my head as he sit’s on top, his lips moving aggressively against me. I move my head to the side as Alec places kisses along my neck “A-Alec stop” I say, he stops, pulling away, looking down at me with furrowed eyes “Why don’t you want me anymore?” he asked sadly, my eyes widen as I look up at him.

“Of course, I still want you but Alec, you killed him-“ he moves away from me, letting my hands ago as he paces the room “Did he mean something to you? Did you enjoy his touch?” his eyes turn to me in anger as I shake my head “No, I never liked Richard, his presence made me feel uneasy and disgusted” his shoulders rest as he walks over. “Why can’t you just accept it?” I look up at him as he gently holds my face, his knee’s giving out as he looks up at me “I would kill for you, I would die for you Astrid, don’t you see? I live for you” my eyes widen at his words, my heart warming at the thought, but my stomach feels a dropping fear of his words. “I love you Astrid, for eternity and forever, I love you” I look down at him, seeing his sorrow and sadness but behind that I could see his anger and frustration something it seems we’ll never be able to agree on, I lean down slowly, kissing his pale pink lips as he leans up, kissing me back, I wound my fingers into his hair as he opens my mouth.

His hands reach to caress my body like the night before, I don’t stop him, moving into his embrace as he follows after me, pushing me onto the bed as his lips and hands try to touch every part of my body, my mind shuts off as I don’t want to see what he’s down, I don’t want to think about how wrong this is, I want my love back and to forgot just for a while, I just want to be in the arms of my mate as he praises my body like he’d done a million other times, I just want forever.
