Ril'siiya

Yay finally a good picture of Ril'siiya. 8D I've been developing her a lot lately, she's my new pet project. XD Umm... Where to start with her. She's from my Aliens series, from the race of the Gaediens. Specifically she's a Vyren, which are plant Gaediens. She's the best friend of Sz'nami, who is the fourth main character of Aliens. Umm... I'll explain about her later I guess? XD Maybe I need another blog for Aliens blarg. Anyway. Yeah. So Ril'siiya developed into this hyper, chattery, spunky... thing. XD Who annoys everybody except Sz'nami. She is very proud of her Vyren-Gaedien heritage and culture, and is very bold and brash. She has no filter between her head and her mouth, so she's always saying things that are either embarrassing or insulting. XD Overall she strikes me as the stereotypical Spanish/Mexican girl, and she even has a Spanish-sounding accent (though actually I'm not entirely sure it would be Spanish XD it just sounds Spanish to me in my head). Soo yeah. I think that about covers it. More to come on Vyrens... Maybe. XD Someday, I dunno.

Humbled

So, Vrmylne (pronounced Ver-mill-n) here is @enjoliquej‘s fan character for my Alien Universe story~. The Herrs are a very prideful species, and Villy here is no exception. However, one day he got into trouble with the law. He had made four repeated thefts, and the punishment for such crimes was to have his tentorns (the ear things; his are curly, which is considered attractive to their species) cut. He later found that Syneid (Sin-aid), his best friend, ratted him out. Vrmylne, once a prideful Herr of high-standing, here was humbled. His beautifully-carved, smooth wooden cloak pin, which proved him as a Herr of status, was traded for a piece of charcoal, the lowest rank reserved for criminals. To them he was now less than a Herr- a servant as low as the slaves under their feet.

Random artz. Um. I know almost nothing about these two characters. XD They're two of the slaves that Naru and Shiido rescue in Naru-napped. And they're never even mentioned... >.>... *cough* Yeah. Uh. Anyway. I just thought I'd draw them because it's good practice XD;; And who knows I might flesh them or their species out later. Soo, yeah. Bye now.

Day 5 - Eriol

Hey look, it's actually one of my characters. XD So yeah. About an hour of photoshop crashes later... eAe Sheesh, I was considering just dumping an unedited thing up here it was so bad eAE Probably need to restart PC or something... Anyway! So yeah. This... is Eriol. Did something a little different from the others as far as traditional goes, and that is to say I didn't do any major digital overhauling aside from a bit of cleanup and adding a texture overlay on top. And no color. XD Yeah that's a first... Since I did a lot of hatching/shading traditionally with this one, I figured color would just be redundant. So yeah. A true pen drawing this time. Day 23 - Horror

When you're confronted with the very thing you've fought so hard to deny...

This shouldn't count as an ink. It really shouldn't XD I took a 2 or 3 month old drawing and splatted some ink on it e3e this should not count... XD But I'm desperate to get caught up, so whatever... eAe

Well look at that! XD It’s a painting of Naru... Haven’t done this char in forever. I think me and Songa got to talking about Naru and Shiido and I started sketching them again to get a feel for how to draw them again, anddd yeah. XD Then a painting happened. Touched it up a little today, had it sitting around for a couple days doing nothing but decided to finish it up today and post it somewhere. Still a little scrubby, but yah. I did this with no line :D The only lines are those painterly kind of you see there. With a thin brush and pressurized opacity... I call em painterly lines XD since it’s not the same as sketch lines. So yah. Have a Naru, everyone! XD

So I wondered if Kyzens (Wind Gaediens from my Aliens story) had facial hair that was also cloudy and curly looking like their hair and wings. The answer was yes XD So I drew this old guy with a giant fluffy cloud beard. You’re welcome tumblr.

I made this a while back, but never posted it publicly. Some design work I did for Erians, a species from my project Aliens (working title: Alien Universe or Alienverse... haven’t really settled on a title yet).

One of my oldest Aliens species, dating back to 2007. Been bringing them back into modern day with a little more variety on the idea of of aliens with dark beady eyes, tree stumps (or other botanical structures) on their heads, clompy feet (see feet development first four images) and mostly green/yellow silky bodies. A revival of an old story involving the then-MC Eriol, his family, and the fate of his planet. Now a sidestory that ties into the main Aliens plot, which revolves around two who were then villains, Naru and Shiido. Funny how that works, right? So, yeah. That’s about it for these guys. Make sure to check the descriptions for details.

Image 7: The girl on the bottom right with curly hair and a dandelion on her head I was thinking might have blue beady eyes and blonde hair, maybe a paler yellow shade on average in the face as well. Part of my experiments with creating different ethnicities in the Erian kind.

Image 8: Here I experimented with different ear shapes for Erians. Most probably have a simple, short elf-style ear, but I was also considering wavy ears (like that leaf-shaped ears elf meme I found on google) or sort of feathery looking ones. I have to account for an entire race, so I may as well have some fun with variety, amirite?

WHO is Tsuname and WHAT is his QUEST?

WOW that was quick! Okay Tsuname…Well Tsuname is from my Aliens series. He’s the younger brother of Tsunne (guy on right), another character from the series. He lives peacefully on an island on the planet of Gaede with his family and friends and has a massive one-sided crush on his childhood friend, Sh’zkai, who is also his arranged fiance, or tan-tawe as they are referred to in his culture. It is believed there that the first friend a child meets of the opposite gender is fated to be married to them, so female friends of that culture will sometimes create what is called the mitawe-yun, or female friend pact, so that if they get married and produce children of the opposite genders, those children will be tan-tawe, and as such introduced to each other as soon as they are ready to be up and about as toddlers or walking infants. They are usually left in a pen of some kind to play with each other while the parents watch. If the children get along it is said to be good luck, and perhaps a sign they will learn to like each other when they are older.

Islandic superstitions aside, though, his tan-tawe Sh’zkai grows up to loathe him. They were good friends as children, but when Tsuname grew up to be a teenager and fell in love with her, believing the tales his parents and surrounding culture had always told him, Sh’zkai came to find him absolutely loathsome.The worst part about it? Tsuname is convinced that her loathing of him is either some sort of ‘phase’ she is passing through or smothered affection. Even when she is very openly blunt about not liking him, sometimes to the point of violence, Tsuname still does not believe her. Even times when he is discouraged by his behavior, his parents and culture continue to teach him that Sh’zkai is only going through a phase, and perhaps needs space before she can come to realize her feelings for him.Tsuname then goes to his father’s grandparents’ island by his parents’ instructions to do just that. For the next three years, that’s how Tsuname spends his summers. He goes for a few weeks to a few months each year to build up muscle and also give Sh’zkai space. However, despite his parents’ advice that leaving her alone and packing on more muscle will make her more attracted at him, Sh’zkai doesn’t even give him the time of day. If anything, she is more disgusted at him when he returns (probably because she knows his motives behind these trips).Tsuname is 18 (15 three years ago) when a rumor begins to spread around about something strange appearing in the sky now and then. The islanders had been unaware of it because they’re so low to sea level they don’t see much aside from the stars, but the Stellyrs, or star Gaediens who live closer to the sky, have been noticing a strange flying contraption floating around the planet. His brother Tsunne who is next-to-chief of the island is often gone to talk with the other leaders of Gaede to discuss what should be done in the case of an invasion, which is what they believe is soon to take place.His island goes into preparing for the invasion. The men are taught what to do and at Tsunne’s insistence, even some of the women are allowed to fight, since it is known they probably need every available fighter they can spare.

And then the invasion comes. The men charge out to meet their attackers, but are quickly overwhelmed.Left and right his people are falling, some of them getting captured and taken away into metal saucers by the tall reptilian figures.Tsuname is among those captured.One of the reptilian creatures gouges out Tsuname’s right eye, a symbol that he is now his slave, and eats it (yeah I know he’s gross).Tsuname then spends the next three years enslaved, meeting many different kinds of people and almost escaping several times, meeting many different perils along the way on his quest to return to Gaede, and, (he thinks) the loving embrace of his tan-tawe, Sh’zkai.

And that’s Tsuname’s quest! could have skipped a lot of the details in the beginning and gotten right to the quest, but I thought a few things needed to be explained, even if they’re partially unnecessary and probably a wee bit spoiler XD; I don’t think I said anything that’s too spoilerish though, aside from describing the beginning his story to you XD;; I might’ve gone a bit overboard there on the details but oh well… Anyways uh. If you ever wanted to read his story (even if I partially spoiled most of the beginning for you XD; ) I could probably give you the link. The only issue is a lot of it might be revamped and not canon anymore. Probably why I thought it was safe to tell you the beginning, even though the beginning is probably the least likely to undergo any major overhauls XD; but yeah if you wanted I could probably still share it with you, though it isn’t finished and is on an indefinite hiatus because I feel like I started it too soon. It was a NaNoWriMo for 2014 and a lot of it is rushed and rife with inconsistencies, and eventually I lost steam with it because the plot wasn’t going the way I’d envisioned and a lot of things happened in the story that made me uncomfortable with it. But all the same if you want to know more I might just share it with you! As long as you keep in mind that half the story may not even be canon anymore aside from what I just told you earlier. All of that is /probably/ staying, it’s the parts of the story I didn’t tell you about that are still under construction, so XD anyways… I’m really longwinded. Thanks for the ask, though, I hope this (more than) answered your question about Tsuname! XD;; 

I realized I never uploaded these! These are reference sheets for the main characters of my story, Aliens. I recently made a page for it on my tumblr with all my tagged stuff from it, but I realize it’s pretty disorganized. XD So, step 1 towards organization, uploading the reference sheets for my MCs! These are Naru and Shiido. I never did color Shiido’s reference but then his outfit’s kinda complex anyway... maybe too complex XD; I did one of those things where I browsed pinterest and just kept adding stuff that was cool onto them XD; But anyways so yeah. Here they are!

The irises are in full bloom again and you know what that means? Iris Shiidian time! I was going to edit this more on PS and still might… Need to fix a few things. But golly, compared to last year’s? I’m really proud of this XD; It helps Autodesk Sketchbook for mobile is now free if you have an account ;;w;; *cries tears of joy* So many new features. MORE LAYERS. CANVAS SIZES. MORE BRUSHES. Brush customizability, lines, SELECTIONS!! So long I suffered with the cruddy free version ;;w;; now the whole thing is free ughhh IT PAID OFF. The disappointment of last year’s update with its lag and enduring through the changes paid off ;w; Autodesk peeps were playing a long game with that update but golly just look at the difference what I can do compared to last year!! But uh, maybe I should explain a bit while I’m still here. So for a while my alien species the Shiidians only had a generic leaf shape until years ago I decided to branch out and gave different sub-species of it have flower heads, and others have vine hair or lily pads and various kinds of leaves. So this one’s an iris and with the irises in my backyard blooming, it’s become a bit of a spring tradition to use one as reference in redrawing it as a Shiidian~ She’s also sort of become a theoretical character. Not sure where she fits into the scheme of things but she feels like a model to me. But with Shiido’s race being enslaved I’m not sure what that means for her. Different galaxy? Media conspiracy? The plot thickens… XD;

Tsuname thinks he is a mer

I forgot to post this on tumblr... This was something I did towards the end of May for “Mermay” though Tsuname isn’t exactly a mer, he’s close enough to one I guess. XD; This was an overhaul of an old picture I did for Mermay in 2016, now with new and improved art. XD;
