Hello, I am Mahmoud Jihad. I was an outstanding university student with excellent grades and I had a house. But now, because of the genocide, I have nothing and my family but a cloth tent to shelter me , I lost my house and laptop and my university are destroyed.
My old is 21, My life has been dramatically altered by the ongoing conflict in my homeland. I am currently living as a displaced person in Deir al-Balah after losing my home and everything I knew in Khan Yunis.
I was once a dedicated student studying Information Technology at Gaza University, filled with hope and dreams for my future. However, everything changed when my university was bombed, leading to the suspension of classes and depriving me of the education I valued. The airstrikes also destroyed my home and my personal computer, cutting me off from essential resources and connections.
Today, I find myself in a temporary tent in a displacement camp, living without basic necessities. For the past 10 months, we have been deprived of water, electricity, and access to nutritious food. My father is unwell, and my brother is in treatment, leaving me to bear the heavy responsibility of caring for my family amid these trying circumstances. I long to rebuild our life in Khan Yunis, but our current situation makes that seem almost impossible.
Despite these overwhelming challenges, I refuse to let go of my dreams. Education is my pathway to a better life and a chance to help my family and community heal. However, I need your help to leave Gaza and pursue further education in a safer environment where I can gain the skills necessary to support my family and contribute to rebuilding our home.

On the sad day of October 9, 2023, an unforgettable day, it was a dream like a nightmare. I was returning home to Gaza and my family, the women and children, were leaving the house in fear. They told me that the Israeli Defense Forces had ordered them to evacuate all the houses immediately. I was surprised and could not believe it. I entered the house quickly and went out. My father is crippled and fear grips my heart. Half an hour after the call, the warplanes destroyed the house. We miraculously survived, but my brother Samer was injured in his feet.
In the shadow of conflict, our family has faced unimaginable hardships. The passing of my father, a victim to the cruel grasp of hunger and inadequate healthcare, left a void in our lives, underscoring the fragility of our existence here. My brother, Samer, battles bipolar disorder, a condition exacerbated by the ongoing war and the severe shortage of essential medications. Without access to the necessary treatment, his life is at risk, and we live in constant fear for his well-being amidst the chaos that surrounds us. These personal tragedies have deepened the urgency of our situation.

Every day is a struggle for survival, and each night is filled with prayers for a brighter tomorrow. Yet, amidst the darkness, we hold onto hope, seeking solace in the belief that one day, the clouds of war will dissipate, and we will find the peace and stability we so desperately crave. Until then, we endure, clinging to the threads of our resilience, and nurturing dreams of a safer, healthier future for us all.
Our home, once a sanctuary of love and warmth, was destroyed, displacing us into a life of uncertainty and fear. The laughter of my children and my sister's daughters, once the music of our home, is now silenced by the echoes of conflict. They deserve a future where education and happiness are not just dreams but realities.

first of all my brother Mahmoud, who was martyred in the bombing of the Baptist Hospital. He left behind his children and wife, and my brother Ahmed, whose front leg was amputated in the same bombing. I lost my house, my family's house, and my job. During the current Gaza war, my house was completely destroyed resulting in the loss of my business and all our belongings. Me and my family have since been displaced in the streets with no shelter, lack of access to food, drinking water, and healthcare necessities. Despite we were camping in areas which were announced as safe, we faced an imminent danger of death by Israeli airstrikes in our camping neighborhoods several times which resulted in serious physical and psychological impacts on us as well as my little grandsons. I am writing this fundraiser hoping to get help with your generous donations to evacuate Gaza immediately to a safer country.
Before the war, we were having a normal life in Gaza having our own business and working hard with my sons and brothers to be able to survive under the Gaza siege. We were preparing for my daughter's wedding which was supposed to take place this summer but unfortunately she got all her wedding dresses and belongings gone with the destroyed house. She's now left with nothing hoping to be able to get married to her fiancé in a safer place one day. One of my sons was supposed to complete his high school education this year and was passionate about enrolling in a university to study business but the war deprived him from this success and left him hopeless while seeing other students in the west bank receiving their high school certificates while he's left behind. Realize that this is exactly what the colonizers conducting this genocide want you to feel. Realize that apathy during a genocide is what leads to the normalization of atrocities. Realize that this is a tried and tested method found throughout history; that now when the genocide is been widely documented by Gazans themselves- the only way the colonizers can get away with it is by running you down and making you feel hopeless!
They want you to stop caring about their victims and this is why you need to fight harder now more than ever!!
I request you to fight harder for every Gazan! And therefore request you to fight for my friend Siraj Abudayeh too, whose family recently faced another assault. His parents and siblings had to flee to him for protection, because their areas ( Hamad, southern Khan Younis) were marked for assault from occupation forces. With the number of people depending on him increased now, Siraj has a much heavier responsibility on his shoulders to raise enough funds to support all of them and their needs, when prices of food water and other essentials are already skyrocketing.
With the coming of the rainy season, there comes the danger of epidemics spreading from open sewers as well! Siraj’s son Amir has already fallen ill, and his other two sons are showing symptoms too- they are in dire need of medical treatment! I cannot overstate how badly Siraj and his family need these funds!! How badly he needs your continuous support.
There has been a significant drop in engagement with fundraising posts and I very clearly remember, someone tagging one of my posts with compassion fatigue. It shocked me to my core to think that the cries of Free Palestine could fade so suddenly; that after only a year some of you have begun to feel fatigued, from having to care about this.
Do not give in please; do not let the colonizers make you complicit in this horror! They know that if they can overwhelm you enough, then one day the videos and posts would stop hitting as hard and sooner or later everyone will stop talking about Palestine. This cannot happen again! Not when your attention can literally save a life! This is the power you hold- especially if you are living in the Imperial core. The colonizers are afraid of it. You have to know this and believe this!
So please do not turn away and help Siraj get to 50k as soon as possible!
