Throughout the first five months of the war, both my big sister and my sister in law had been pregnant. They had to endure constant displacement and unspeakable horrors on top of pregnancy discomforts. The few times I was able to reach my sister, she would keep praying not to go into labor before that nightmarish reality ended.
Sadly, things did not go her way. The war was raging when she gave birth to beautiful baby Ossama, and it still is ongoing. Almost at the same time my brother and his wife had sweet baby twin girls, Ritaj and Rital. The three little angels are rocked to sleep by the sound of bombs and buzzing drones instead of lullabies. Due to the unsanitary conditions in their tent and formula scarcity, the newborns have been constantly suffering from acute respiratory infections as well as slow weight gain. The only medical care they were getting was that of an overcrowded field hospital with limited resources, and even that is now denied to them as my family has been forcibly evacuated again from Rafah to Khan Yunis where nothing is left but rubble.
As you may well know, many babies in Gaza are lost while waiting for consideration. The doctors previously insisted that the little ones would fail to thrive and fully recover if they stayed in the same unhealthy environment.
Despite everything, these babies are a source of hope and strength for us. Please don't let them fade away. My family is barely holding on for their sake and that of their older brothers and sisters.

Hello, I am Mahmoud Jihad. I was an outstanding university student with excellent grades and I had a house. But now, because of the genocide, I have nothing and my family but a cloth tent to shelter me , I lost my house and laptop and my university are destroyed.
My old is 21, My life has been dramatically altered by the ongoing conflict in my homeland. I am currently living as a displaced person in Deir al-Balah after losing my home and everything I knew in Khan Yunis.
I was once a dedicated student studying Information Technology at Gaza University, filled with hope and dreams for my future. However, everything changed when my university was bombed, leading to the suspension of classes and depriving me of the education I valued. The airstrikes also destroyed my home and my personal computer, cutting me off from essential resources and connections.
Today, I find myself in a temporary tent in a displacement camp, living without basic necessities. For the past 10 months, we have been deprived of water, electricity, and access to nutritious food. My father is unwell, and my brother is in treatment, leaving me to bear the heavy responsibility of caring for my family amid these trying circumstances. I long to rebuild our life in Khan Yunis, but our current situation makes that seem almost impossible.
Despite these overwhelming challenges, I refuse to let go of my dreams. Education is my pathway to a better life and a chance to help my family and community heal. However, I need your help to leave Gaza and pursue further education in a safer environment where I can gain the skills necessary to support my family and contribute to rebuilding our home.

On the sad day of October 9, 2023, an unforgettable day, it was a dream like a nightmare. I was returning home to Gaza and my family, the women and children, were leaving the house in fear. They told me that the Israeli Defense Forces had ordered them to evacuate all the houses immediately. I was surprised and could not believe it. I entered the house quickly and went out. My father is crippled and fear grips my heart. Half an hour after the call, the warplanes destroyed the house. We miraculously survived, but my brother Samer was injured in his feet.
In the shadow of conflict, our family has faced unimaginable hardships. The passing of my father, a victim to the cruel grasp of hunger and inadequate healthcare, left a void in our lives, underscoring the fragility of our existence here. My brother, Samer, battles bipolar disorder, a condition exacerbated by the ongoing war and the severe shortage of essential medications. Without access to the necessary treatment, his life is at risk, and we live in constant fear for his well-being amidst the chaos that surrounds us. These personal tragedies have deepened the urgency of our situation.

Every day is a struggle for survival, and each night is filled with prayers for a brighter tomorrow. Yet, amidst the darkness, we hold onto hope, seeking solace in the belief that one day, the clouds of war will dissipate, and we will find the peace and stability we so desperately crave. Until then, we endure, clinging to the threads of our resilience, and nurturing dreams of a safer, healthier future for us all.
Our home, once a sanctuary of love and warmth, was destroyed, displacing us into a life of uncertainty and fear. The laughter of my children and my sister's daughters, once the music of our home, is now silenced by the echoes of conflict. My name is Sameer Al Khaldi. I am a Palestinian refugee living in Gaza with my family of 17 people in a tent facing the worst war in human history. During the current Gaza war, my house was completely destroyed resulting in the loss of my business and all our belongings. Me and my family have since been displaced in the streets with no shelter, lack of access to food, drinking water, and healthcare necessities. Despite we were camping in areas which were announced as safe, we faced an imminent danger of death by Israeli airstrikes in our camping neighborhoods several times which resulted in serious physical and psychological impacts on us as well as my little grandsons. I am writing this fundraiser hoping to get help with your generous donations to evacuate Gaza immediately to a safer country.
Before the war, we were having a normal life in Gaza having our own business and working hard with my sons and brothers to be able to survive under the Gaza siege. We were preparing for my daughter's wedding which was supposed to take place this summer but unfortunately she got all her wedding dresses and belongings gone with the destroyed house. She's now left with nothing hoping to be able to get married to her fiancé in a safer place one day. One of my sons was supposed to complete his high school education this year and was passionate about enrolling in a university to study business but the war deprived him from this success and left him hopeless while seeing other students in the west bank receiving their high school certificates while he's left behind. I hope this fundraiser with your generous support would help him to get out of Gaza and continue his education and achieve his life goals abroad. Khadija Al-Habil (@girlquee) and Yousef Al-Habil (@saveyouseffamily) are a lovely couple who truly love and care for each other.
They also have the cutest baby named Majd! He is their pride and joy. Like any loving parent, they will do everything to keep him happy, healthy, and safe. (I would protect him, too, even though I'm not a parent! 🥺)
Unfortunately, while the airstrikes have destroyed their home and everything they love, Majd suffers the most. Not only his initial exposure to the world is the constant fear and horror, but he is chronically ill with a severe respiratory illness (AND he recently got an eye infection from a bug bite!)
Khadija and Yousef have shared the latest update, as well: Majd has a chest infection, and he is currently in the hospital in the due to the lack of oxygen. The poor baby has to use an oxygen tank. But this is only a temporary solution. Khadija, Majd, and Yousef need to evacuate NOW!
