So I recently finished rereading the webcomic Aurora, which I absolutely love, and I can't wait for the second arc to start! I decided to make some fanart for the comic, specifically ship art of Falst and Dainix.
I really hope that the characters get a bit of time to rest before they have to deal with the next problem on their way to Helm!

Tess from Aurora is such an icon tbh. She’s butch. She has magic powers but decides to just punch the dragons instead. She breaks every mage stereotype. She lives in a high fantasy world yet decides to run around wearing a tank top and sweatpants. She has undergone extremely bad circumstances yet still decides to have a positive outlook. She has a sick ass scar that is the result of something GOOD happening to her. She runs around with a group comprised of half a dozen chosen ones and doesn’t give a shit because she’s the only one with the power of good mental health. You could call her in the middle of the night to hide a body and as long as you killed them for good reason, she would help you then never mention it again. She has ADHD.
DOES ANYBODY HAVE THE ONE POST OF RED ANSWERING WHAT AVATARS OF WHAT FEARS FROM TMA AURORA CHARACTERS WOULD BE PLEASE IVE BEEN SEARCHING FOR IT IT IS VERY IMPORTANT
Thinking of writing an Aurora AU that takes place in the Tma universe. Think it would go something like this:
- Erin is a part of the Asera institute in the US as an archivist except there was no communication so Elias has no idea he exists. He’s just an avatar of all the fears, incredibly overpowered, and not being monitored at all.
- Vash was a monster of either the slaughter of the End called the God Soldier or something but got completely cut off from his patron and left Kendall behind. Kendall is not connected to an entity in any way but is completely inhuman, just living in the body the entity made for Vash.
- Tess is a Fairchild. Need I say more.
- Alinua is a corruption/extinction avatar who has absolutely no idea what the fuck is happening to her and is actively Becoming throughout the story, but is absolutely determined to STOP what is happening to her.
- Dainix is Agnes Montague 2 electric boogaloo but with human emotion this time. Also has no idea what’s happening.
- Falst is a hunt avatar who did not sign up to be a cat boy and is trying to find some way to pass as human in normal society.
- after a Big Messup Erin ends up with a manifestation of the Extinction stuck to him (Voidy) and is trying to get him removed.
- pretty much the entire crew is going on a massive road trip from supernatural hotspot to supernatural hotspot trying to stop The Extinction from emerging, chasing down the collector, and solving all of their individual problems.
I think I’m gonna end up writing this once my computer starts working again,

So we know how "Kendal" meant "right hand" in the earliest language spoken where the city of Vash came to be. Through this fun tidbit, we can see similarities in different parts of Aurora's language tree. There was a first language, which evolved overtime with isolation and regional dialects as language does.
In the calendar extra lore page, it's stated that sindahlan, the 28 day basically a month, means "two-hand pass" in reference to Sword's two full orbits. Assuming the word breaks down like the translation, 'sin' likely means two, 'dahl' means hand, and 'an' means pass. In Erin's narration/ journal entry in chapter 4, we learn that the storm is called "Dalan-Rakhn," meaning "the hand of chaos," by mountain folk. Since we now know that Rakhn is the name of some god (I saw theories he's a volcanic god?) who is likely chaotic, we can assume "dalan" means "the hand of" or something like that. So we have another "dal" meaning hand. To my knowledge, we don't know which mountian folk Erin was talking about, but they're likely not near Vash as Windscrest still called the storm "The Storm" and Kendal calls it the "Standing Storm." (side note- zooming in on the storm map on 1.8.1 and what we know of Rakhn being referenced to the north of Argist along with volcanic activity makes me think the mountains in question might be the ones at the top right part of the current continent.)
Word of Red states that "Kendal" is a very unusual name in current comic time, so potentially 'dal' meaning hand is from a much earlier branch of Aurora's language family tree. All in all, I quite like how you can see similar words across languages.

i mentioned that erin was having a crisis, and the analysis follows:
He has been this entire comic. Because one of his first lines to Kendal was he was the only one who could fix it, and yes the others can HELP him but they can't help him with the problem only the symptoms. They can minimize the damage but they can't get rid of it. Erin is desperate and he'll literally rip himself apart to fix it. Because he is alone in this, he is right. Only he has those powers, and he's pushing himself past any limit against all judgment out of fear. He's afraid. And we almost never see him angry, but he's screaming at the only people who can stop him. They can't help him for all their power. They can stop the dragon from destroying the world but that's not what Erin needs.
He needs it gone.
So we see him at the end of every rope for once, screaming. "Nobody can help me in a way that matters." He's correct.
And he does it while doing some of the most powerful magic ever seen in the comic ever, like what a terrifying moment, because he's currently channeling so much magic, possibly more than that's even necessary as it was an emergency and he did it without much thought. He's not trying to prove anything really, he's just trying to keep going out of fear, his ego isn't a part of this, he truly knows they can't do anything to help and he can't bring himself to delay the trip. Because of fear.
But a corner stone of Erin is his fear and inadequacy complex almost as much as his ego and people don't realize that. He's also petty and vindictive and is ready to do everything he can to prove himself right. Or just to bring someone lesser down a peg even to his own detriment (Tynan and Walter). He's a mess of character traits that conflict because he tries to be the egotist without fear, and he is to some degree. But his entire arc he knows he's out of his league and it scares him.
He is both a terribly petty egotist who has to be right, but also an impulsive afraid 19 year old with too much power.

If Ignans find most places outside the desert to be uncomfortably cold, why does Dainix go without a shirt? Does it not bother him? Or does he just not have a choice?
It doesn't bother him. He's toasty.
