Bayonetta 3 Spoilers - Tumblr Posts
Imma be 100% real, its kinda strange to me that the whole series is about defying fate and making your own path. BUT Luka and bayo are always destined to be together and end up together (assuming this from what they say at the end) and I hope I'm not the only one that was a lil weirded out by the whole Adam and eve thing. Anyway it was a pretty good game, 8/10 (that credits song is not it tho)
Edit: before anyone says anything, im not upset bayoluka happened, just suprised. I expected her to stay single to please everyone.
Thoroughly convinced that someone on the writing team hates my girl Jeanne, she dies in every single universe. Just give my grumpy nerd lady a break 🥺
Replayed the last few levels again (to try and actually understand this mess of a plot) and I missed the first time it said "to be continued in the next generation". As much as I love Viola I dont think she can hold up a game on her own, plus I'm not playing bayonetta for viola, im playing for cereza. Like they didn't need to make a new mc they have a multiverse now, show us the full other alt bayo's stories. I really want to see more about the Papillon d'Ombre she was my favorite alter and she actually got to grow up with her mom.
It could be neat to see other versions of bayo's kids, like I'd personally like to see a bayojeanne kid but that'll never happen but I think it's gonna just focus on this Viola
My Pros, Cons, and Neutrals for Bayo 3 to get my thoughts about the game organized.
Pros:
ngl i prefer the new VA for Bayo. Dont know why but i just like it more
The combat is amazing (for bayo, but ill get to that in a min)
The art and design choices are *chefs kiss* magnificent as always
I absolutely adore Viola and Cheshire and think they are a good addition (as a side character)
The music is great but also not very bayonetta-y (if that makes sense)
As an unpopular opinion, The jeanne mini game was great, I loved it
The demon masquerades were a great game mechanic to add
im alone in this opinion but i like that they removed the hair from the demons, i just want to admire that model baybee
The alt universes (while massivly confusing) were so interesting and i wish they had gone more into them
the kaiju battles (especially Baal zebul)
Its just a fun game to play imo
Neutral:
I liked the homunculi but man they were kinda samey
the rpg skill system was a bit hard to get used to but thats cuz i forgot about it several times
not being able to mix and match weapons, i can live with out it but i miss it
glad they brought everyone back in the end (allegedly) but we didnt need that depressing ending. Series has never been depressing
The madama kaiju was my least fav but im just salty cuz shes my fav demon (yes im basic)
moonlight serenade was the weakest of the moon songs and i got annoyed listening to it over and over
Cons:
WHAT THE F**K IS A FAIRY
The characterization of all the previous characters was kinda bland, even bayo was very toned down to be a touch boring
the whole Luka thing (which im not even gonna get into that can of worms) (not the romance, the werewolf thing and his weird im a god now thing)
THe adam and eve thing (just....ew)
What whas singularity’s plan???
Killing every alter with a deus ex machina was just rude
Making bayo feel fairly weak compared to Luka and Viola’s weird fairy nonsense was weird to me
the story
we are one was not it chief
NO THE PICTURE BOOK SECTION WAS THE MOST FUN IVE HAD POST GAME AND ITS JUST A DEMO??!!?! GIVE ME MORE PLATINUM!!
Everyone always mentions the character assassination of Bayo, but no one mention that both Luka and Jeanne were treated like garbage too.
They fundamentally changed Luka to make him the Mostest Special Boi In the Universe ™. In all the previous games he was never special, and thats what made him special. Also he was never a guide, the guiding people for all the games were Balder for 1, Rodin/Jeanne for 2, and Viola for 3. Luka was always there by coincidence or just following Bayo around (in the case of the first game). He was a babysitter at least and an exposition machine at most, and thats not a bad thing. He was invaluble to the plot for that reason, in the first game he helped care for cereza when bayo ran off to do her thing and he would explain things that Bayo couldnt remember and need the information to move forward. That right there is the worst bit they took from him in giving him his magic powers and having him have a combined conciousness. Luka is SMART, sure hes goofy and silly but this man is smart. He speaks and reads at least 2 dead languages, found out about a long dead and buried society whose history was burned to the ground purposefully, found artifacts to help him study these cultures. These powers will take away from that fundamental part of his character (he even says it does in the final stridor fight where he berates himself). Hes a goofy, perverted genius with a heart of gold and they ruined that making him Special ™
With Jeanne, they did my girl dirty in the latest game. They made The Heir to the Umbran Throne (technically the elder but this isnt time for that) get killed by some dude in a pod. You are telling me that the strongest Umbra to live cant sense that the guy who is literally saying “im gonna kill you” is gonna stab her in the back, WHILE shes in the middle of battle where shes surrounded?? Im not 100% but I can almost guarantee that Bayo once dodged Balder’s sword when he attacked from behind in 2 and she was trained by Jeanne. She also couldnt tell that sigurd was evil?? Really? He was screaming evil, and she should have experience with creepy evil men in a secret facility. They just really dumbed her down so much, she didnt even get to use her powers until ch12. Also it goes against the Jeanne dying trope of it always being a heroic sacrifice for Cereza.Â
I had more thoughts but i cant remember them anymore so this is the end of this nonsense
I've realized that Viola is literally just Luka from bayo1. They have the same personality and quirks, the whole "my name is ---!", the dorky easygoing personality, cereza calling both of them kitty, both of them following cereza around as she basically ignores them, the zip line, the search for the truth, the journaling, etc.
I honestly don't think that bayo and luka (or anyone really) are dead at the ending. The epilogue with viola is what like a week, maybe a couple months max, after the ending. Her mannerisms don't strike me as "I watched both my parents be sucked down into inferno to suffer for eternity" she's way too happy and positive. Plus it's kinda like the worlds reset to before the singularity events cuz there is no way life would be back to normal after that nonsense.
