If Beastars leaned fully into realism then it's world would have turned into a true PvP zone since there really... isn't a thing such as a true herbivore given the fact that practically all animals we classify as such are also instinctually opportunistic meat eaters. Deer, and especially male deer, kill and devour birds and small animals because it makes their antlers grow faster so,while Legoshi would be out there fighting his instincts telling him that Haru is food, Louis would would struggle with seeing his first ture friend as a nice protein bar. If anything, when the shishigumi gave him the meat test, he would not puke it up but rather discover that he disturbingly is kinda into it. What about Haru? Rabbits cannibalize their own every other Tuesday and have no qualms about murdering and eating their freshly-born litters. Yahya wouldn't even need to bother with the carrot corpse garden, he could very much eat carnivore flesh straight from the source

To be honest, I think that could make an interesting conflict given the already-present societal commentary between carnivores and herbivores but,even if it wasn't for the manga having already ended, it wouldn't fir with the established origins of the two's coexistence that Paru has written for the series
