September marks the 45th anniversary of British musician and producer Brian Eno's seminal album Another Green World. Brazilian multimedia producer Luiza Padilha took her habit of commemorating famous records' birthdays to a higher lever and invited several artists from southern Brasil state, Rio Grande do Sul, to create a revisited version of the album. "It all began with a humble idea that ended up taking a far bigger dimension than I imagined in the first place - thankfully. I started to bounce ideas off with Carlos Ferreira, producer and composer from Porto Alegre, our capital city, and I asked him if he was up to recreate one of the tracks. He accepted on the spot and from there I started to contact other people and then, I realized, I had a full album", recounts Luiza.
"This project has a strong aesthetical proposition since it's not just about revisiting a seminal album, but also having produced it during a pandemic. It is 'Another Green World' still", commented Carlos.
The album was recored at home by all the artists during social isolation and it has versions made by Rita Zart, Bel_medula, Lorenzo Gehlen, Fu_k The Zeitgeist, Carlos Ferreira, Gabriela Lery, Euphorbia, Viridiana, Luciano Zanatta, Solomon Death, Marcelo Henkin, Daniel Lumertz, Zanettini + SVQO, and The Rise and Fall of Ice-Pick Lobotomy.
This is a version of Everything Merges With The Night made with my good friend Zanettini on guitar and vocals and me on vocals, arrangement and production. 50% pastoral and 50% cosmic.

““Stop thinking about art works as objects, and start thinking about them as triggers for experiences. (Roy Ascott’s phrase.) That solves a lot of problems: we don’t have to argue whether photographs are art, or whether performances are art, or whether Carl Andre’s bricks or Andrew Serranos’s piss or Little Richard’s ‘Long Tall Sally’ are art, because we say, ‘Art is something that happens, a process, not a quality, and all sorts of things can make it happen.’ … [W]hat makes a work of art ‘good’ for you is not something that is already ‘inside’ it, but something that happens inside you — so the value of the work lies in the degree to which it can help you have the kind of experience that you call art.””

This is peak Eno for me...both musically and visually.

“He (David Byrne)’s a genuine eccentric,” says Eno. “He’s always been exactly like that, and I’ve seen him remain like that in quite extreme situations. For instance, we were mugged together once in New York. It was quite frightening; we were mugged by 14 people. My enduring memory is of David being dragged off into the bushes, saying ‘Uh-oh!’ That’s absolutely true; it was like a cartoon scene.”
