thorbruce are soulmates.
so ive been thinking a lot about this post and how great thorbruce is as a ship. but then i realised how really, truly perfect they are for eachother.
i mean think about it, they contrast eachother completely. and not just in physical appearance, but in emotions. bruce’s coping mechanism for dealing with an emotionally charged situation is to hide himself away and make himself as small and insignificant as possible, to disappear and blend in with everyone else until he’s utterly invisible. he wants to go unseen, to hide in his lab or literally run away to india to be forgotten. this? this couldn’t be more the opposite to thor. he’s a god. he has a legacy running through thousands of years, he’s known. not only this but his sadness, anger, anguish, it’s all so visible through booming thunderstorms or burning lightning. he won’t shrink away, his eyes will light up and he’ll fight until he can’t fight any longer and he’ll tear down the sky doing so. he’s constantly buzzing with electricity and raw power, uncontrollable by anyone but him. thor is a brutal force of nature while bruce is fleeting and subdued.
as the hulk however, their roles are completely reversed. hulk is hulk, he’s strong, powerful, open and fucking angry. he smashes and breaks and screams his lungs out. his heart is on his sleeve and his presence is overwhelming. around this, thor becomes a different person. he is soft and gentle, careful and kind. he assures hulk, using the lullaby to calm him down and promises he won’t hurt him anymore, empathetic and tender.
hulk compared himself to fire and thor to water. fire being a raging unstoppable force, harmful and untouchable, while thor is safe and calm water, reliable, reassuring and a giver of life.
as bruce, the fire is his warmth and affection; a lifeline, something mesmerising yet inexplicably beautiful. at the same time thor is extremely physical crashing waves and violent, deadly oceans, unpredictable and dangerous.
they are eachothers foils. no matter the situation they reflect eachother, tipping the scales to manage one anothers emotional needs while simultaneously balancing out perfectly. they belong together, they fit together and thrive together and are so undeniably made for eachother, as they create the perfect mixture of rage, compassion, sadness and spirit as one collective team of support, respect, and love.

Bruce definitely braids Thor's hair. He gets really good at it. He looks up tutorials on cool complex braids on youtube to try out. Thor loves it. Their snapchat story is filled with pictures of Thor's hair.

Thor, taking a deep breath: I moved an astronomical megastructure with my bare hands, got hit by the beam of a neutron star willingly and would have died if they hadn’t put together ‘storm breaker’ in time.
