Caesar Flickerman - Tumblr Posts

it's a mockingjay party, you're not invited

- Caesar Flickerman is wonderful, teasing, joking, getting choked up when the occasion presents itself. He and Peeta already have the rapport they established that night of the first interview, that easy banter, so I just smile a lot and try to speak as little as possible. -
What's your favorite character from The Hunger Games trilogy?
Why do you like this character?
Favorite quote or moment from them?
Please state one (or more) thing which you don't like from them.
Thank you 😊

You're caught me off guard with this question, but the answer is simple enough for me
✨Caesar Flickerman✨
I don’t know what first attracted me then, most likely the image of a sparkling starry sky (yes, I easily fall for such comparisons), but now it’s not so important, since his character is much deeper under all these sparkles.
I like this type of characters that ,,stand in the middle,, as a reminder that the world is not black and white. As for Caesar, we cannot judge him in any way, since his real opinion remains unknown to us. The only thing we have is his interaction with tributes. We never saw him off stage. But on stage, Caesar shows kindness. He really tried to help the tributes feel better, get the attention of sponsors and the public, which later increases the chances of surviving the games. Sincerely or not, he does it.
For me, he was on the side of rebellion, but not in such an obvious open way. Sympathy for the kids and the desire to stop senseless deaths yes, but the destruction of the entire Capitol no. It is possible to condemn the criminal actions of the ruling elite, but it is more difficult to give up your home and the usual life to which you belong.
in addition: everyone remembers what happens to those who in the Capitol show that they are against the system. No one wants to lose their job (although in the case of Flickerman it is unlikely, who but him ??? pale copies ??), the usual way of life, well, life itself :) You can blame him for being a coward, but fear is one of the most tenacious feelings to overcome.
What I don't like is where the movies have taken him (mjp2 Caesar is not real, he can't hurt you, the lack of information in the books saves the day). The pro-capitol stance is too easy when there was an opportunity to make things a lot more interesting and give him character development :(
As for his personality, Caesar is a Capitol citizen, anyway, which means he enjoys all sorts of things, such as endless food at endless parties with discussions about who wears what, and probably with too much alcohol. And then colored pills will be needed, because the next day is work, and then another party. (please stop) And, of course, he had plastic surgery to still look young and beautiful.
I don't think I can agree with all that kind of stuff.
In conclusion, I will add that for me he is also a funny cute colorful parrot (in a good way), which is just nice to be around, and which is aesthetically pleasing to look at 👁️👁️

pov: you touched mr. Flickerman and now your hands are in glitter

uhm soo Valentine's Day?? 💕?

you're all forgetting one important thing - how long ✨his hair✨ actually is
and I just know that he gets mad when one strand falls out of a perfect hairstyle

I can accept most of opinions that Caesar isn't a good person, UNTIL after a worthy arguments ✨the argument✨ comes up and his name is Lucretius Flickerman.
In general, I don't like the idea of characters' kinship, because "hereditary professions" is a very lazy and simple option. Children do not always follow in the footsteps of their parents for various reasons.
It actually surprises me (although no, it was expected) how quickly everyone around decided that L*cretius was none other than Caesar's father. When I read the ballad, I thought if he was an ancestor, then some kind of weird uncle or grandfather that everyone forgot about (because he was quickly removed). So, if he exists in my version, then he is a local tio bruno (but I love bruno, this is different case), at every mention of which Caesar is embarrassed and cringes, so we don't talk about L*cretius us us us.
And when someone says that Caesar got his entire job and position only as an inheritance from his father, it really disturbs me, because this guy literally did not exist 3 years ago. He's like a bonus. Can't take it as something serious and meaningful idk. I have a feeling that Collins didn't plan to write a prequel at all, don't know why she wrote tbosas in this way((( but that's topic for different conversation.
I love funny weird characters and parrots but it's not the case. I wouldn't have any problems with L*cretius character if his last name wasn't Flickerman.

- All the colors seem artificial, the pinks too deep, the greens too bright, the yellows painful to the eyes, like the flat round disks of hard candy we can never afford to buy at the tiny sweet shop in District 12.

So the Head Gamemaker and Master of Ceremonies can be besties? Yes, they are for sure.
My obsessive thoughts right now:

For a few months I had an idea to remake one of those weird looks from the movies. So this one is inspired by tradescantia plant as its leaves are bright and shiny just like the person in question (so surprising haha)

pretty lavender man *。✿ *゚+
I love your art style! If possible, could you ever draw Plutarch Heavensbee and/or Caesar Flickerman? Would love to see your take on them 🥰
Aww thank you so much. Here have my very rushed takes on them. I will say one thing I wish Suzanne Collins did more was character descriptions because it was very hard to just not default to how they look in the movie

Happy Father's Day to Caesar. He wasn't a there for their birth, but he sure as hell loves his children

Late night watching hunger games.
No cameras, no commentary, no lies. And no one around. 👁️👁️

version without cursed tv lighting
✨Caesar Flickerman✨ is playing pick-a-side game and the answer is neither (rhymes with his first and last names haha). For me, he personifies that very tricky position of balance. So here's my favorite tiny detail from the mj book (first interview with Peeta):
- Caesar places his hand on Peeta’s chest in a gesture that’s both self-protective and conciliatory. “Okay, Peeta, I believe you.”
The only cannon information we know is Katniss' words:
- I’ll say this for Caesar, he really does his best to make the tributes shine. He’s friendly, tries to set the nervous ones at ease, laughs at lame jokes, and can turn a weak response into a memorable one by the way he reacts.
So the tribute interview experience looks like this, these qualities cannot be taken away from him. Whether they are sincere or not is up to the reader.
For us, Mr. Flickerman, like the tributes for the Capitol, is just a picture on TV, unreal, unattainable. And here is the same problem - we have no idea what these people really are. They are not just an image, something real is hidden behind the screen. Real people with their own lives and opinions, separated from the show and the cameras. So there is room for misunderstanding and lack of sympathy or vice versa (same as irl).
What happens behind the scenes, unfortunately or fortunately, we will never know, and we should not. And that's great!
As for the movie interpretation. The perfection does not exist. Movies did him good ... pArTly (partly bAd). So give us some yet unknown actor born for this role :)
And...Can I have the one that exists in my imagination, please ? Or the one created by wonderful @caesarflickermans
Am i asking too much? 👉👈

✺THG Series Exploration: Mockingjay✺
24: Character Introduction: Caesar Flickerman. Flickerman is the face of the Capitol to both the Districts and the Capitolites. We have a fondness for him, yet we know he's really the advocate and mouthpiece for Snow. Let's blog all things Caesar Flickerman.

- He looks freakish but less frightening than he did last year when his color was crimson and he seemed to be bleeding.
I have headcanon that the reason he looked like he was bleeding was because someone actually shed a tear for some reason and the perfect red mascara flowed. But they quickly cut that part out of the live stream so Katniss was left with that impression for a reason ;)
