Coincidentally I have a friend who's had a relationship that I've found similarities to Aechmea's and Welegato's, but that relationship was wayyy worse. Thankfully my friend's relationship got broken up, whew!
Sorry i need to rant about an argument against the Welegato x Enma relationship.
So there's an argument against Welegato and Aechmea being together, and it grinds my gears. basically they're saying "Cairngorm acts like a child now when they got with Aechmea and its creeeepy, obviously Aechmea groomed her >:((" and first of all. that is the worst argument against their relationship cuz you could also argue that a child that acts older than they are can be groomed. like, No. just no. kids are kids even when they act older than they do. and adults who act younger than they do are still adults. jeez, its like gender roles all over again, boys will still be boys even when they act or look like a girl, and vice versa. some of ya'll haven't watched Revolutionary Girl Utena and it really shows. I should probably talk about the relationship between Welegato and Enma but that's an entire can of sexy slugs that I don't wanna get into right now

OH. it seems Phos took welegato's advice.. but- still ended poorly-
So basically for ya'll who don't understand. Welegato was saying that Phos was hurting the gems closest to them(Padparadscha, Yellow, etc) to help the ones that are have been turned to sand, or it could be interpreted that Welegato was talking about how Phos wants to save Cinnabar(and the others) despite the fact that Cinnabar and the other earth gems aren't even close and connected to Phos in the slightest. Soooo- thats hurts- also WHY DOES EVERYONE HATE WELEGATO'S ADVICE HM???? It WAS good advice. and ngl if Phos actually followed it... Aechmea's plan would be ruined and everyone would still suffer... and Phos wouldn't be as happy as they are with the new rock race... nvm I guess it's good Phos didn't follow that advice-

Some of these may just be banter but still- you have to admit that Welegato isn't as bad as they were before they had the ghost removed. and ngl I could be wrong on this but I dont think Cairn ever told Phos 'thank you' pre moon.. Also Pre Moon Cairn (arguably) only gave advice that would make Phos feel better. while Post Moon Welegato? Welegato actually gave GOOD advice to make EVERYONE happy, not just Phos.
you can go ahead and ship these messy exes if you still want to tho, Make them hate eachother so much that they think they're in love <3 or create an AU where Phos realizes Cairn still has ghost in their eye and removes it only to realize that their connection was fabricated and not truly real and give Phos an even worse sense of isolation. Cuz omg they're so toxic and it is delicious. or make them fluffy who knows, but still, please realize that in canon that they are SO toxic that they bring Cinnabar's mercury shame

Phos probably didnt like and still doesn't like Aechmea, its just that Welegato was getting more affection from Aechmea than Phos was getting from anyone else. Poor Phos.

Honestly, I wish people gave Aechmea/Enma/Yama the treatment of say Touga or even Saionji from RGU. Cause like.. he isn't as "evil" as people assume of him, the only thing he really did was sentence Phos to 10,000+ years of isolation, kidnapped and turned Gems into dust, giving Werregat as much freedom as he can without messing up his plan to give EVERYONE (temporary) freedom. Yama is basically "the means justify the end" personified. And I wish people would actually understand his nuance and depth but nope. People are going to hate me for this but honestly, he seems like a pretty good guy to me.

Hating Welegato for having a personality is weird asf like What Is Your Problem LMAO. Like if Aechmea really was making them that miserable I think they’d start being severely co-dependent and unhappy eventually, but by the end of the series he’s like- fine. Like girl was out getting ice cream and snacks with his girlfriends without Aechmea even around. Aechmea doesn’t even control where he goes please bffr. Aechmea isn’t a good person but literally no one in HNK is, and he is demonized far too much; and Welegato is treated like a mindless housewife far too much. Guys they Are Just An Annoying Couple that love each other. I’m sorry happy trans people r ruining your chance at a cold, mean husbando but I Do Not Care. Anyways guys Welegato deserves the ending they got. He was happy and spent his last millennia surrounded by caring friends and a loving husband.
