Requested? Yes/No - hello đŤCould I request one that reader is Max Verstappen sister and is dating Charles. She isnât a driver but is always in the pits for them. She suffers from asthma and in one career she has a really bad attack thats ends with her fainting and in the hospital because she couldnât breath. Maybe it could be because her inhaler is empty and she didnât have the time to get more.Would love to see how her brother, boyfriend, dad, friends (the drivers) reacts to the news
Thank youuu đŤđ

Max was as overprotective as they come so when it came to light that you were dating his childhood rival and rival on the track he wasnât exactly pleased. You were having a family dinner at your Mumâs when she asked you to quickly grab her a fork, obliging you left the table and also your phone by your seat. You were sitting beside Max who saw your phone screen light up as you left. Glancing over he saw a certain someone had sent you a text.Â
Char <3: Enjoy spending time with your family mon amour, Iâll call you when youâre home x
Max quickly snatched your phone from its spot just as you walked back into the dining room to catch him. His face was flooded with anger at the text heâd just read, something you picked up on the second you walked back into the room. Your brows furrowed as you spoke.Â
âWhat?â His eyes met yours at the sudden sound of your voice. âWhy do you have my phone?â
âWhy is Leclerc texting you?â He asked in a bitter tone.Â
âSorry?â You tried playing dumb but Max could always see through your lies.Â
âDonât lie to me!â He spat, holding your phone up. âWhy the fuck is he calling you âloveâ? Are you two -â
âMax now is not the time.â Your Mum cut him off, staring at the two of you. ây/n just sit down, come on letâs just eat. Itâs rare I get the three of you here for dinner at the same time.âÂ
Victoria gave you a look, she knew. When you were younger Max went to stay with your Dad so he could pursue his Formula 1 career whereas Victoria stayed with your Mum. You were the odd one out. Max and you were always close, since the day you were born heâd always looked after you, he did the same with Victoria but he was just that little bit more protective of you but he had a reason to be. Being only seven you ended up staying with your Mum until you turned eighteen when you were finally reunited with Max for good.Â
Max quickly learnt a few drivers had taken a liking to you, especially Charles and Pierre. Youâd met Charles before when he and Max would kart together. As a kid Max hated Charles, always complaining that Charles kept trying to push him off the track but as the two grew older they learnt to put their bitterness aside. You knew deep down that Max and Charles still had that rivalry, especially as they were now competing to be World Champions.Â
Moving in with Max meant going to every single one of his races, which also meant seeing Charles every single week. Normally he would always be accompanied by Pierre Gasly, a man who would flirt with anyone that took a breath whereas Charles was more subtle. It started out with small talk and then heâd show up to the post-race celebrations, get you away from Max so you could have a conversation that wasnât just âhey, how are you?â. Conversations at the club turned into sneaking around with one another in hotels and the rest is history.Â
Max was yet to know about you and Charles. The pair of you had kept your secret from him for eight months. It hurt to keep it away from him, he was your older brother and the one person in the family that you could actually tell everything to well, everything but this. You knew if Max found out heâd lose his shit and you knew he wasnât the cleanest driver on the grid at times. Part of you worried that if he found out heâd pull off a stupid stunt on the track and land the two of them in the hospital so you kept it from him.Â
âIâm not sitting here and eating fucking potatoes when my sister clearly has something going on with Charles Leclerc!â Max screamed, standing up and shooting you a glare. âWhat is going on between you and Leclerc?âÂ
âMax please just calm down -â Your Mum spoke.Â
âCalm down? Sheâs been lying to my face!â He took a deep breath. âHow long?âÂ
You didnât want an argument but you knew it would come eventually. âEight months -â
âEight fucking months?â His words were bitter. âEight fucking months and you didnât think to tell me?â
âYouâd lose your shit if you knew! You can be such an idiot on that track and I donât want you pulling some pathetic stunt that gets both of you killed!â You spat back.Â
âItâs not me you have to worry about crashing, that prat canât even finish a race!âÂ
âDonât you dare start insulting him, not when heâs only ever spoken good things about you in the media unlike some of those drivers on the grid!âÂ
âYeah now I know why! He only done it to please you!â He ran his hand through his hair. âI canât believe my own sister would go around with the man whoâs considered my rival, you might as well be dating Lewis Hamilton!âÂ
âMax thatâs enough!â Your Mum snapped. âBoth of you!âÂ
âSo is that where youâve been going when you tell me youâre going to y/b/fâs house for the weekend? Youâve been with him? All those nights you stayed out late and asked me not to wait up, you were with him, werenât you?âÂ
âOf course I was Max!â Tears and panic were filling your body at the sight of Maxâs rage.
âWhy him y/n?â His voice now turned to pain. âAnyone but a shitty driver on the grid.â He slumped back down in his chair as you spun on your heel and left the room, feeling yourself getting short of breath you pushed your mother's bedroom door open and sat on the edge of your bed, trying to calm your breathing but nothing would work. Reaching for your inhaler you were able to steady yourself, calming yourself to the point of not feeling short of breath.Â
âHeâs such a dickhead.â The voice of your sister caught your attention. She gave you a warm smile as she sat beside you, noticing your inhaler in your hand. âYou need to take it easy, stress makes your breathing worse and you know that.â
âRather hard when your brother starts screaming at you like that.â You leaned your head on her shoulder, closing your eyes as she wrapped her arm around you.Â
âI know but you know Max, canât control his emotions to save his life⌠thank god he was never born a woman, imagine if he had a period every month.â You smiled at her words, letting out a light laugh. âDonât worry about him, Charles is a decent guy. Mum likes him and Dad has always said heâs a good driver which automatically means he respects him. Itâs just Max youâll have to work on.â
âAnd what do you think of him?â You looked up at her.Â
She shrugged with a small smirk on her face. âYou think you could set me up with Pierre now you and Charles are together?â
You laughed at her words before speaking. âI think Max would kill us.â
âMaybe so but I donât think Mum would let him.âÂ
Victoria continued to calm you down, meanwhile, your Mum was giving Max a lecture, almost like he was a child.Â
âDid you need to do that?â She set the food aside and gave Max a glare.Â
âI donât want her around him -â
âMax sheâs twenty-one, not a child. She can make her own decisions.â
âIâve seen how some of these drivers act, I donât trust them.â
âDoes Charles act like that?âÂ
Max pondered on the thought. âNoâŚâ
âThen why are you so uptight about all of this?âÂ
âBecause he might be like that.â
âThen thatâs her lesson to learn. Iâve met him far too many times and even I can tell you that heâs not like that. He clearly cares about her and he was raised to be a polite and smart lad. You know that.â
âI still donât like it.â
âDoesnât give you the right to yell at her like that. Sheâs clearly happy with him, donât you want that for her?â
âOf course I do.â Max gave her a sad expression. âBut I want her to be safe.â
âMax,â Your Mum took his hand into hers, smiling at him as she spoke. âI know you care for her especially as she was always there for you at your races and when I and your father split it was hard on you both but you know deep down she isnât going anywhere. He wonât take her away from this family, sheâs still your baby sister.â
Max knew she was right but it was still hard for him. He missed being around his family and all he wanted was for all of you to be as close to one another as possible but that would never happen. People move on, Victoria already had and that pained him knowing everyone was slowly growing apart. With your parents split he never got to have what most children did, he never got to have dinner with the family every night, he never got to go on family days out or even just stay inside and watch a film with one another. It was something so small but something he so desperately longed for.Â
When it was clear that Max wanted to be a racing driver he never got a day off. He always had to train and that meant leaving you, his Mum and Victoria. So when you made the decision to move in with him he was over the moon. His Mum visited more and you were by his side. He had his family back, maybe not how he wanted but it was enough for him but the thought of you moving away to be with Charles meant he wouldnât see you, Victoria or his Mum as often. His head just swarmed itself with the memories of being left with his Dad at eleven, no Mum or sisters by his side.
Max didnât sat anything else, he only nodded, knowing his Mum was right he got up and made his way towards her bedroom. Softly knocking on the door he waited for you or Victoria to give him the all-clear to enter. His heart ached at the sight of you clutching your inhaler, a clear sign heâd set your asthma off.Â
âCan I speak to y/n?â He directed his question to Victoria.Â
âIf you donât plan on screaming at her then I donât see a problem with it.âÂ
âIâm not.âÂ
Victoria looked down at you, waiting for the nod of approval from you. A silent signal that you were happy to speak to Max. She lifted herself from the bed, glaring at her older brother before leaving the two of you to talk.Â
Max shuffled into the room, a glum expression on his face as he sat beside you. âDid you need to use it?â He pointed to the inhaler. You only nodded, making a surge of guilt fly through him. âIâm sorry I just⌠I just donât want this family to fall apart -â
âAnd you think Charles Leclerc is going to make us fall apart?â You arched your brows at him.Â
âNo, but itâll play a part. You know all I ever want to do when I have free time is just relax with you, Mum and Victoria.â
âAnd Charles and I dating is going to suddenly stop that?â
He huffed in frustration as he tried to get his words out. âNo, but it means I wonât see you as much anymore. It means itâll be harder to get everyone round for dinner as youâll always be out with him, Victoria is always travelling -â
âMax Iâm not going to just get up and walk out of your life. Do you not think I feel the same way too? I never got to see you and Dad as much as I wanted to as a kid and now I see the pair of you pretty much every day. Yes if Charles and I move in together I wonât see you every day but Iâll still be at every single race. Iâll still be living in the same area as you. Itâs not like heâs going to lock me away from ever seeing you again.â
âAre you happy with him?â Max suddenly looked down at you, changing the subject slightly.Â
âI am, Max.â
âAnd do you love him?â
âI do.â
âDoes he love you?â
âHe says he does, every single day so I bloody hope itâs true.â Max broke a small smile at your words, following Victoria's actions he wrapped his arm around you, pulling you into his side.Â
âThen Iâll allow it. Canât promise I wonât start a fight or let the two of you hold hands around me but Iâll allow it.â
âOh glad Iâve got the permission of my brother.â You smirked at him before breaking into a smile.Â
âJust wait till Dad finds out.â
âI plan to never tell him, he doesnât need to know.âÂ
âYeah, good luck.â Max laughed knowing that if he reacted like that then Jos would hit the roof.Â
That all happened a few months ago. Jos did find out but thankfully Max was there to ease everything. He didnât lose his shit as much as you had expected him to but that didnât mean he liked the idea of his daughter dating a Formula 1 driver, especially one who drove for a rival team but Charles had managed to survive a dinner with your family which meant things were destined to last.Â
â
âI wish we could stay like this forever.â Charles hummed as his hand smoothed down your hair. You were laying on his chest as the sun from the outside world made your hotel room glow like gold. Today was the day of the French Grand Prix, a race Charles was hopeful about.Â
âMe too.â You replied, your hand tracing his chest before looking up at him. âHow are you feeling about today?â
âConfident.â He replied, a small smile on his face. âI think I can win it today if I get a good start and we can actually get our strategy right then I can put some distance between us and Red Bull.â He looked down at you, his smile turning to a smirk. âOr you could tell Max to lay off me just this once.â
Laughing at his reply you let your head fall onto his chest before replying. âNot sure if that would work, he already isnât your biggest fan.âÂ
Charles moved his hand and used it to move your face to look at him again. âSo? His sister is.â He leant down and took your lips into his. Heâd never get bored of the feeling of having you in his arms with your lips on his. He let his tongue slide across your bottom lip as he spare hand went to your waist, pulling you onto his lap so you were now straddling him as the kiss deepened. He tugged on your bottom lip, loving the way you softly moaned at the sensation.
You pulled away from the kiss slightly as you felt his hands begin to trail up your thighs. âYou have a race to get to.â
âWeâve got some time-â
âHardly any.â You muttered against his lips.Â
âWe've had less before and we made it work⌠besidesâŚâ He brushed your hair out of your face. âItâll be my good luck charm.â
âI thought I was that.âÂ
âYou are, I just might need a little extra luck looking at the state of our strategy.â Laughing against his lips you melted into his touch as he leant up and flipped the two of you over. He ducked his head down and began to kiss your neck. Your eyes glanced over to the clock beside the bed.Â
He was right, you had time.Â
â
You watched as Charles took his helmet into his hands, looking down and smiling at the photo of you and him tucked inside the padding before meeting your soft y/e/c eyes. âYou always look so worried when Iâm about to get into the car.â He pouted at your expression. He always hated seeing you like this. The thought of having your brother and boyfriend taking part in one of the most dangerous sports in the world which was responsible for so many deaths caused your anxiety to spiral. Something Charles unfortunately knew all too well.
âJust be safe please.âÂ
Charles walked towards you, setting his helmet aside he wrapped his arms around your waist, pulling you into his chest. âYou know I will.â He pecked your lips. âI will always come back, I can promise you that.â His eyes scanned your face, he would never get bored of seeing how your eyes would look up at him with such love.Â
âYou better.â
âI will.â This time the kiss felt different, it always did before a race. It was always a silent promise that he would come back to you, no matter what happened out there. âIâll meet you at the garage when the race is over.âÂ
You nodded, the two of you sharing one last kiss before he stepped away and put his helmet on. âGood luck Char.â You leant up to kiss the top of his helmet before you turned away to join your family at the Red Bull garage.
ây/n!â You turned back to the man dressed in red. Charles was jogging up to you, slipping his helmet off before pressing his lips onto yours once again. He cupped your jaw as he deepend the kiss, he smiled against your lips as he pulled back, missing the sweetness of your lips. âI love you.â
âI love you too.â You smiled back as you kissed him again, swiping your tongue on his bottom lip, teasing him after the antics of the morning. Charles wanted more but he couldnât. Not yet anyway. The pair of you pulled back eventually. Charles blew you one last kiss as you left him. âPlease be careful!â
âI will mon amour!â He called back, his head turning to see you walk away.Â
âYou know,â A Spanish accent filled the air. âI canât decide if you two make me want to be sick or if you two are just cute together,â Carlos smirked at Charles who was clearly smitten with the Verstappen girl.Â
âYou sound like her brother.â He replied, glancing over his shoulder one last time only to see that youâd already gone to find your brother. No matter how long or how much you loved Charles you made one promise to yourself and that was to watch the race from the Red Bull garage. Max was still your brother and the one person whoâd be there if things ever fell apart.Â
âAfternoon y/n.â Christain Horner welcomed you as you made your way through the groups of mechanics to find your family.Â
âHello, Christian.â You smiled back at the man.Â
âDid you ask your boyfriend to have a shit start so we could get some pace on him?â
âThink you might struggle this time around, he seems pretty confident and Ferrari seem to have a set plan for this race.â
âCan always rely on you for insider information.â Maxâs voice snatched your attention. He opened his arms for a hug, an action you quickly obliged with. âWonder what heâd think if he found out you were telling us all their secrets!â He joked as the two of you shared a hug.Â
âWhat can I say? I clearly have a favourite.â You went along with his words although Max knew as much as you loved him and always showed your brother endless support that you would much rather see Charles win a World Championship than him.Â
âYou should do, heâs your brother.â Jos quickly joined the conversation, pulling you away from your brother for a hug.Â
âHello to you too Dad.â You hugged him back before Max spoke again.Â
âHowâs he feeling? Confident?â
âAs always.â You replied. âAnd you?â
âEasy win.â He winked before breaking into a small laugh. âItâll be a challenge as always but if we get a good start, do our pitstops in a smart way then I canât see why we canât be on the podium.âÂ
âI canât see why you canât finish in P1 today.â Your Dad joined in, making you and Max share a quick look.Â
As much as Jos cared for you and your sister he always seemed to have a different attitude towards Max. As you got older you began to understand he was living his dream through him. Jos wasnât good enough for Formula 1 but Max was. Heâd already won a Championship and was set to win many more in his career. The treatment your Dad gave to Max was beyond unfair but Max hadnât known anything else. The pair of you would often talk about it but Max refused to ever admit that Jos was in the wrong, he just thought that was how a Dad was supposed to be.Â
âYouâve got Charles for competition so maybe aim for P2.â You quickly spoke, trying to brush off the harsh words of your father.Â
âDonât think I can do it?â Max pretended to look offended. âMy own sister turning against me for Charles Leclerc!â He placed his hand on his chest. âMaybe you should go watch the race with Ferarri.â
âOh shut up.â You shoved him slightly as Max made his way to the car. âBe safe.â
âIâll try.â He smiled as he grabbed his helmet, waving at you one last time as you and Jos joined Victoria to watch the race unfold.Â
Charles had started well. You had to try your best not to celebrate in front of the Red Bull mechanics and your family but your joy didnât last. In the eighteenth lap just after Red Bull had completed an incredible pit stop your heart sank. The camera suddenly cut to someone in the wall and then your boyfriend's name was mentioned. You saw his number proudly against the car, you didnât need a commentator to confirm your fears.Â
Charles didnât move for a few seconds and in a fit of fear you threw your headphones off as you felt your heart race and your breathing increase which meant you missed his radio confirming that he was in fact okay. Your eyes fell onto the screen again and Charles was still not moving, the camera cut away, a sign that was never good in Formula 1.Â
Victoria picked up on your distress immediately. Growing up alongside you she always knew when an asthma attack was on the rise. Stress and panic always grew when you watched races, you knew you should stay away from the sport when your nerves were on the rise but you couldnât do that to Max and Charles.Â
ây/nâŚâ Victoria grabbed your forearm, pulling you away from the small crowd of people watching the race. âIt's okay, heâs okayâŚâ
âHe didnât move -â
âHeâs probably in shock, heâll be okay. It wasnât a bad crash -â
âIt doesnât need to be.â Your voice was failing you as your chest started to ache. Victoria grabbed your bag from around your shoulder, sensing you needed your inhaler she pulled it out of your bag, handed it to you and directed your hand to mouth but when you pressed the silver button nothing happened. Hers and your eyes widened at the lack of sound indicating that the device had worked. âShit⌠I forgotâŚâÂ
Before every single race, Charles always asked you to check your inhaler and make sure it wasnât running low. He couldnât even begin to think of what would happen if something went wrong when he wasnât around. He knew how important it was, especially if either you or Max got hurt or into a collision. He also always kept a spare on him just in case you needed it and you had left it behind. The only problem was Charles was climbing out of his crashed car with no inhaler on him.Â
Victoria knew she had to think fast or you would end up in serious trouble. She screamed for Jos who wasnât paying much attention, too focused on the race until he saw his youngest daughter clutching her chest as she sunk to the floor. Forgetting that Max was now on his way to winning another race he called for help, alerting a steward of what was taking place. Within seconds the ambulance team was in the Red Bull garage attending to you.Â
Meanwhile, Charles was on the side of the track, screaming in frustration at his mistake. With his head in his hands, he sobbed his heart out. Through teary eyes, he looked down at his helmet and saw the photo of the two of you. He knew youâd be waiting for him when he got back, waiting to take the pain away and that was all he needed right now.Â
If only he knew.Â
âMr Leclerc you need to go to the medical tent.â One of the safety managers called over to him as he stormed back to the garages. Anger was still running through his veins at what had happened.Â
âFuck off Iâm fine.â He took a deep breath as he walked into the garage.Â
âYou may feel fine but you need to be checked over, itâs an FIA rule, please -â
Charles scanned the garage yet couldnât find you. Despite always watching the races in the Red Bull garage you would always leave the second anything happened to him on the track. You would always be waiting at the Ferarri garage for him or youâd meet him at the medical tent if the team had been told that he was sent there. âWhereâs y/n?â He ignored the man's pleas.Â
âShe isnât here.â A mechanic spoke. âHasnât turned up.âÂ
Charles scrunched his face up in confusion. âShe isnât in my room?â
âWe would have seen or heard her.â Another mechanic spoke. She hasnât come here. Maybe sheâs still at Red Bull.â
âBut she always comes here.âÂ
âMaybe she saw you get out and decided to stay and watch her brother win.â The mechanic turned his gaze to the television mounted on the wall. Charles followed his gaze to see Max Verstappen leading the race but it still didnât make sense. Youâd seen him crash a fair few times and saw him get out of the car safely yet you always came here, even if Max was winning.Â
Charles didnât say anything as he left the Ferrari garage and headed down to the Red Bull garage. Your relationship was public so he knew if cameras were following him closely it wouldn't spark rumours that he was attempting to sign with Red Bull to escape Ferrari.Â
âIs y/n here?â He announced to no one in particular. A few mechanics and friends of Max and Checo looked around at one another, unsure whether they should tell Charles what had just happened. The brunette picked up on their uncertainty almost instantly. âWhat?â
Checoâs wife took her headphones off and gestured for Charles to follow her. He quickly followed the woman, his concern growing. Making sure the pair of them were away from prying ears she spoke. âShe saw you crash and the panic got to her -â
âHas she just gone back to the hotel?â Charles quickly asked.Â
âShe had an asthma attack and her inhaler was out. Sheâd forgotten to change it and they had to call the ambulance team. Weâve been told sheâs all okay, sheâs at the medical tent -â Charles didnât need to hear the rest. He quickly turned on his heel and sprinted out of the garage and towards the medical tent, not caring that he probably shouldnât have been running considering heâd just crashed into a wall.Â
â
âIs Charles okay?â You asked, propped up in bed whilst the medic team checked your heart rate. You were put on a ventilator, something you were used to after growing up with asthma. Victoria and Jos were by your side through the whole thing. Thankfully you started to breathe on your own after a while, the medics were running their last checks to make sure you didnât need to be sent to a specialist.Â
âHe got out of the car just fine. He was walking around after.â Your Dad held your hand as he sat beside the bed, his eyes glancing back and forth between you and the race.Â
âHeâs okay y/n.â Victoria chimed in.Â
âHe should have joined you in here for his own checks but Iâve been told heâs refused a medical check-up.â The paramedic tending to you reassured you. âThat means he must be fine.âÂ
You gave the woman a small smile, resting your head back and letting out a steady breath. âThank you.â
âYouâre welcome, Miss Verstappen.â She stepped back. âYouâll be fine but maybe this is a lesson to always carry an inhaler that works.âÂ
âCharles always has one on him just in case.â
âNo good when heâs in a wall.â Your Dad replied.Â
âMaybe we should start carrying a spare just in case,â Victoria spoke.Â
âOr maybe I should remember to get mine replaced.â You chimed in.Â
âThat too but if Charles can carry one for you then I think we could too, just in case.â
Almost like he was summoned by the sound of his own name Charles darted into the room, still in his race suit his eyes fell on you. Suddenly all the anger and hurt from crashing out of the race disappeared and the only thing he could think of was you. âMa belle filleâŚâ Charles hurried himself over to you. Jos moved from your side allowing Charles to sit beside you. He took your hands into his, pressing small kisses into your skin. âWhat happened?â
âI fainted but Iâm okay.â You ran your thumbs over the top of his hand. âIt was just an asthma attack.â
âLove itâs not âjust an asthma attack.â His eyes met yours. âItâs serious, you could have landed yourself in a lot of trouble, we were lucky you only landed yourself in here.â
âI know.â You looked down, slightly ashamed that you had caused all of this just because you forgot to get your inhaler replaced.Â
âHey,â Charles moved his hand to tilt your head back up to face him before he planted a short yet meaningful kiss on your lips. âIâm just glad youâre okay, you nearly made me faint when I got back to the garage and saw you werenât there.â He smiled.Â
âWeâll give you two some space.â Victoria pulled Jos out of the room. âI wonât tell Max what happened, Iâll let him bask in the glory first.â She winked before leaving the room with your Dad who looked displeased to leave you alone with Charles despite the two of you living together.
âAre you okay?â You turned the conversation back to him.Â
âHmmâŚâ He hummed back. âIt was all my fault, Iâm never going to be a World Champion if I canât keep the lead of a race without fucking it all up.âÂ
âOne mistake doesnât define your career Char.â Squeezing his hand you gave him a reassuring smile.Â
âThank you.â He returned the smile. âIt just feels as if Iâm not set to win a Championship.â
âWhy? Because you crashed the odd time? The world knows itâs not your fault, fans blame the team and theyâre right in doing so. They ruined so many of your and Carlosâ races, races the pair of you could have easily won and gained more points than Max. The season isnât over yet and if things donât go to plan this season then you always have next season.â
He got up and leaned over to kiss the top of your head before placing a small light kiss on your lips before returning to his seat. âThank you. I donât deserve you.â He kissed your hand again, looking up at you with his eyes full of love. âI donât even want to go out there and talk to the press.â He huffed, leaning his head on the bed as he changed the subject.
âYou donât have to.â Your hands started to play with his hair. âYou can just stay here.â
âOh, I plan on it.â He shut his eyes, taking a deep breath as he melted into your touch, finally feeling calm. âAlthough Iâll have to speak to them eventually.â
âIâm sure you can weave around it besides, just tell them what you told me.â
âNot sure thatâs going to work on everyone, most fans donât think I deserve to even be considered as a title contender.â
âSince when did you care about what others think?â You raised your brows at the man. âChar, you drive Formula 1 cars for a living and they spend their money to see you drive those cars, you really care about what some low-life fan who canât even drive a normal car thinks?â Â
Charles raised his head from the bed and looked at you with a smile. âSuch a way with words Verstappen.â
âI do try Leclerc.â You both leaned forward to one another when a sudden bang of a door opened.
Max was standing in the doorway alongside Daniel and Lando. When Daniel and Max were teammates you grew close to the Australian who would spend most of his time showing you his playlists on his phone and telling you the stories of his life. Daniel had been on adventures you only read about in books, you could listen to him all day. Lando and you grew close due to Max treating the boy like a younger brother. The two of you were also close in age which was an added bonus when it came to conversation. As Lando once said âsometimes these old men donât understand usâ.Â
âFucking hell y/n are you okay?â Max shoved Charles out of his chair, not caring that Charles could have been hurt as heâd been involved in a crash. âWhat happened? What did they give you?â
âIâm fine Max.â You smiled at your brother. âIt was my fault, I had an asthma attack but my inhaler was empty. I fainted but Iâm okay -â
âYou donât sound it,â Daniel spoke up, making his way to the bed, not caring that Charles was now sitting on the floor after being pushed by his old teammate. âHere.â Daniel handed you one of his hoodies, making sure you were comfortable as you lay in bed.Â
âYou know I have hoodies if you want them,â Charles announced from the floor, his face already fed up with Daniel's antics.
âIâve got a few too,â Lando spoke, a smirk on his face. All three drivers received a glare from Max, a silent warning that if they continued heâd deal with them on the track. âBut Iâm sure youâre fine.â Lando quickly said, clearly scared of Max.Â
âThank you, Lando.â You tried to suppress your laughter as you spoke again. âAnd you too Daniel.âÂ
The Aussie helped you put the hoodie on, making sure you were warm and comfortable before laying back down. Whilst Daniel made sure you were comfortable Lando grabbed you a drink and left it on the side for when you were ready.Â
âThought you would have gotten her all this Leclerc,â Max suggested, knowing his words would annoy him.Â
âI was too busy making out with her Verstappen.â Charles knew his words would annoy your brother.Â
âWhat did you say?â Max stood up, his actions quickly causing Charles to scramble to his feet.Â
âIâm just sayingâŚâ Charles smirked. âShe tastes good -â
âThatâs my sister you dickhead!â Max lunged at Charles but he missed, allowing Charles to sprint to Daniel, holding him and using him as a human shield but Max couldnât care less. Lando used his brain and moved out of the way towards you, watching the whole scene unfold with a smile on his lips.Â
âIt was a joke!â Charles screamed, trying to defend himself as he made a run for the door.Â
âWellâŚâ Daniel looked over at you. âLeast you donât have to worry about your boyfriend being injured⌠from the car at leastâŚâ

â
The Verstappens had always hated the Leclercs and the Leclercs had always hated the Verstappens. It was like the families of Romeo and Juliet only with highspeed cars and a crowd of millions discussing your every move. Youâd known Charles for years, both you and your twin brother Max had been karting with him since you were kids and now the three of you were in Formula 1. Both you and Max drove for Redbull whilst Charles achieved his dream of driving for Ferarri but although the three of you had changed, the rivalry didnât.Â
Charles hated the way you gloated every single time you won, the look you gave him when the champagne hit your skin made his blood boil. He hated everything you did but couldnât help but admire how you did it. You and your brother were already World Champions but Charles was still struggling. Anytime he even came close to being at the top the Redbull twins would knock him off his pedestal in a heartbeat.Â
Today was the day of the Monaco GP, Charlesâs home race and the one race he was yet to win. You were starting in P1, he was in P2 and Max was in P3. After one last quick discussion in the Redbull garage, you and Max wished one another luck before heading to the grid walk. As you dodged the interviewers your eyes fell onto a bright red race suit with a black horse planted firmly on the back.Â
âLeclerc!â You called to the brunette who spun around to meet your gaze. âLooking forward to hearing the Dutch national anthem at your home race?â You smirked at the man as he joined your side.Â
âFancy making a bet on it?â His eyes shone at his own words.Â
âBet your life savings on me and youâll be richer than a king.â You smirked at him as you two continued to walk.Â
He laughed at your response. âI was going to suggest a different kind of bet.âÂ
âOh yeah? Like what?âÂ
âIf I win, you must tell the interviewers that Iâm your biggest competition.âÂ
âTheyâll know Iâm lying when I open my mouth.â You glanced over at him before speaking again. âWhat about if I win?â
âThen Iâll tell them youâre the best driver on the grid -â
âThey already know that.â
âYou know youâre just like your brother.â His patience lessened. âFull of yourself and arrogant.âÂ
âWell believe it or not we are related.â
âAnd full of sarcasm.â
âMaybe you should take notes, after all, weâre world champions and you arenât.â
The brunette grabbed your arm and pulled you closer to his body. You felt his breath fan against your face as he spoke through gritted teeth. âYouâre only World Champions because you cheat!â
âCheat? Just because you canât last around one corner without driving yourself into the wall -â
âOnly because you shove me into them!âÂ
âYeah?â You leaned in closer to him, your lips only inches away from one another. âWell, you better watch for my car todayâŚâ
âOr what?â
âTake your eyes off me for a second and youâll be in the wall.â Pulling your arm from his grip you stormed off to your car, mumbling under your breath at the interaction.Â
âAnd itâs lights out and away we go! Verstappen gets a good start but so does Leclerc! The other Verstappen⌠not so muchâŚâ
Charles had gotten off to a perfect start, enough to overtake Max and quickly made his way behind you, clearly youâd riled him up enough that he wanted to win his end of his shitty bet but everyone knew that Monaco wasnât the easiest to overtake on.Â
âPerfect start y/n, weâre staying with plan A for now. If anything changes we will let you know, Max is in P3 and Leclerc is just behind you.â The team radio sounded in your ear as you replied.Â
âThank you, guys.â Your eyes flickered to your mirrors, catching the red glimpse of the Ferrari, a smirk dawned on your face at the sight of him trying so hard but you couldnât spend your life focusing on him, you had a race to win.Â
âBox, box!â A yellow flag due to Lando making friends with the wall allowed you to pit with just ten laps to go. Charles stayed out which allowed him to claim P1. Most teams wouldnât box at a time like this, especially with only a few laps to go on a track which was renowned to be difficult to pass on but Redbull and the Verstappen siblings were more than capable.Â
Switching to the soft tyers you set back out to the track and join Charles. The pair of you had created some distance between the other drivers meaning it was just you two fighting for the top. âThe safety car is leaving the track now, focus on getting past Leclerc.â Christian had taken the liberty of delivering the news to you.
âUnderstood.â You nodded in your car, despite them not being able to see you before suddenly speeding up as the safety car left your eyes.Â
Charles didnât set off as fast as you did but that didnât matter to him, all he needed to do was defend with his life. It started off relatively easy for him, you backed off when things got too dangerous but you only had two laps to pass him and now you were getting desperate. It was no surprise to anyone that the Verstappens would get violent in order to win. It was in your blood and on the track no one was your friend, not even your own twin.Â
Coming wheel to wheel with him the two of you turned into a corner but you refused to back off. Charles attempted to push you off the track but the Redbull was too fast. Pushing ahead you clipped Charles which sent him spinning into the wall leaving you in P1 and now your brother was able to claim to P2 whilst Charles didnât even get to finish his home race.Â
ây/n Verstappen wins the Monaco Grand Prix!âÂ
âBrilliant driving today y/n, really well done today. Take it all in, you deserve it.â Christian smiled as he spoke to you through the radio.Â
âThank you guys for today!â You replied. âWas Max P2?â
âYes he was, heâs just behind you.âÂ
âAnd Charles? Is he okay?âÂ
âHeâs back in the garage, heâs fine⌠pissed off but fine.âÂ
âBrilliant.â You pulled your car up to the pits, parking right before the P1 sign. Clambering out of your car you knelt down to kiss the front, it was something youâd started doing after Max gave you a lecture about âhaving your own celebrationâ. Max came running towards you, his arms open wide as he pulled you into a hug.Â
âIâm so proud of you.â His smile was so bright anyone wouldâve thought heâd won but the truth was you and Max were each other's biggest supporters.Â
It was no secret that your Dad wanted the best for you both and if that meant treating you two like shit in order for you two to become the best in the world then that was something heâd happily do. Your Mum knew you both had to live with your Dad in order to be in Formula 1 and without her, the two of you no longer had an escape from him. Max was your escape and you were his. Â
âThank you.â You pulled away from your brother as you headed to be weighed and interviewed. Just as you were about to be weighed a tall bundle of red stormed towards you.Â
âYou fucking cheat!â Charles screamed at the top of his lungs. When he got close enough he pushed you back lightly as he towered over you. âTypical Verstappen, always cheating your way to the top!â Before you could even utter a word Max grabbed Charles by his race suit and dragged him away.Â
âDonât you dare touch my sister.â He didnât yell, only spoke in a harsh tone. A tone which Charles knew not to underestimate. âYou even look at her with any ill intent Iâll do more than put you into a wall.â Max shoved Charles back before he returned to where you were now finishing up your last interview before you headed to your podium. âAre you okay?â He draped his arm over your shoulder and pulled you into his side as he spoke.Â
âYeah Iâm fine, heâs just pissed off.â
âDoesnât mean he can shove you and speak to you like that.âÂ
âI know.â You gave Max a small smile. âIâll talk to him after -â
âNo, you wonât.âÂ
âMax I -â
âThat cunt isnât going anywhere near you, even in a car and especially not on a podium.â He smiled back, you forced a smile at his words. Despite how much you and Charles hated one another you felt the need to speak to him, even if Max wouldnât approve.Â
â
Youâd spent the last five minutes attempting to zip your dress up but to no avail you were left unsuccessful. After Redbullâs podium you, your brother and a few other drivers decided to head to a club to celebrate. It was normal that a lot of drivers would spend the evening together after a race, a few would rarely attend but the Verstappens were always at the party scene.Â
Clutching the front of the dress you waltzed over to your phone, ready to dial Max or your sister for help when a knock at the door grabbed your attention. Thinking it was Max you spoke aloud as you opened the door. âThank fuck youâre here Max, I canât get my dress zipped up -â You jumped out of your skin when your eyes met the mesmerising ones of Charles Leclerc. He stood before you with his shirt hanging over his shoulder, drenched in sweat. Your eyes didnât want to wander (liar) but they did. It was no secret that Charles was beautiful and as much as you hated him you couldnât deny that the man looked as if he was sent down from the Gods themselves.Â
âIs there a reason youâre at my door shirtless?â
âI went on a run.âÂ
âAnd you didnât think to change?â
âWhy is it distracting you?â His cockiness began to show.Â
âYouâre not Gasly so we should be fine.â You mirrored his attitude before silence fell upon you both.
âSorry, I shouldâve messaged and asked if you were free.â He breathlessly spoke. âCan I come in?â You nodded, holding your dress closer to your chest as you let the man in before quickly shutting the door. âDo you need help with that?â He gave a light smile as he nodded towards your situation.
âPlease.â Your voice was quiet as he threw his shirt on your bed and moved behind you. He effortlessly moved your hair onto your shoulder so he could focus on your zip. His hands delicately moved down your back, touching your skin which made you jump slightly at the sudden skin-on-skin contact.Â
âItâs just meâŚâ His breath hit your neck as he spoke.Â
âThe same man that shoved me after the race today-â
âThe same woman who shoved me into the wall on the track.âÂ
You laughed lightly at his response. âTouche Leclerc.âÂ
Charles treated you like you were priceless, his hands gently touched you as he slowly zipped up your dress. The heat from his body could be felt on your skin which only made your mind run, God who wouldnât want him? âItâs a nice colour.â Referencing the red of the dress he moved your hair back off your shoulder before stepping back. âI need to talk to you.â Sitting on your bed he looked up at you whilst you smoothed your dress down. âIâm sorry for earlier, I shouldnât have done that in front of everyone. I was pissed off because of what happened and I shouldâve spoken to you about it privately.âÂ
You nodded at his words before taking a step towards him. âI shouldnât have shoved you off the track like that-âÂ
âI donât blame you for that.â He cut you off. âI wouldâve done the sameâŚâ He smiled. âAnd I have done that before.â
You thought back to the Grand Prix from Spa two seasons ago. You saw a gap and you went for it but Charles wasnât letting you get pole that easily. He sent you into the barrier and to the local hospital for a suspected head injury.Â
âAt least I didnât send you to the hospital.âÂ
âYet.â He stood up as he spoke, the pair of you inches apart but this time he was looking down at you. âIâm sorry again Verstappen.â He stepped aside, heading towards your door.Â
âAre you not coming out tonight?â You quickly asked him.Â
âIâd rather not end up dead when Max sees me.âÂ
âHeâll get over it.âÂ
âWill you?âÂ
âI still hate you, Leclerc.â You smirked as the words left your mouth. He mirrored your expression. Â
âFeelings mutualâŚâ Opening the door he went to leave but stopped himself in your doorway. âYou look good in red.â His eyes scanned your body before turning on his heel and leaving you alone in your room, the only reminder of his presence was his lingering touch and his shirt he'd left on your bed.Â
â
Azerbaijan was the race after Monaco and yet again youâd claimed P1 whilst Charles hadnât even made pole. You watched him yell at those in the garages and along the pit wall who were evidently at fault for Ferarri's horrific strategy. Clearly feeling a pair of eyes on himself he scanned the crowd until his eyes met yours, your smug grin as you kissed our trophy sent him over the edge. He stormed out of the garages and made his way back to the hotel as fast as he could, not even caring how his PR team would react to him ignoring the interviewers patiently waiting for his thoughts.Â
Back at the hotel once the celebrations had died down you grabbed the shirt heâd left in your room back in Monaco. Ironically it was a Ferarri shirt so you had to hide it with your life, if Max had seen it then you wouldnât have made it to Azerbaijan alive. It had been washed, you couldnât have it laying around your house drenched in sweat.Â
When you knocked on his door a sudden shout made you question if going to his room at this time was a good idea. âCarlos I said Iâm fine!âÂ
âItâs not Carlos.â You replied before his door swung open. Without saying a word he looked down the hallways, making sure no one was looking before he pulled you against his chest and inside of his room. âFucking hell Charles!â Your arms wrapped around his neck as you steadied yourself against him.Â
âWhat the fuck are you doing here?â With his hands on your waist, he steadied you himself as he pulled back slightly to look down at you.Â
âI came to give you your shirt back-â
âAnd you thought now was a good time?âÂ
âWhy wouldnât it be?âÂ
âMaybe because I stormed off and now every journalist in this building is attempting to hunt me down for a comment and if they see you coming into my room with my shirt theyâll lose their minds!âÂ
âRelax there was no one outside.âÂ
âFor now! Theyâve been knocking on the door all night.â Slumping down on his bed he ran his hands through his hair. âWhy come tonight? Wanted to gloat about winning again?âÂ
You shrugged, throwing his shirt towards him. âI donât need to gloat when I know you think about me every single day.âÂ
âSo full of yourself Verstappen.âÂ
âHard not to be when youâre one of the best in the world.â Charles rolled his eyes at your words.Â
âYou arenât exactly one of the greats-â
âYet.â You cut him off, taking a step closer to him. âIâm no Schumacher but Iâm up there, after all, I was the youngest person to ever win a world championship.âÂ
âSo?âÂ
âSo Iâm in control of my racing future, something you clearly donât have a grip on.âÂ
âReally?â Charles smirked as he parted his legs, leaning forward he grabbed the backs of your thighs and pulled you into him. He fell back on the bed with you falling on top of him, his hands now moving to your waist, holding you in place.Â
âCharles?â You tried to move back but his grip wouldnât let you. âWhat the hell was that for?âÂ
âYou think you have control of things but everything can change in a heartbeat.âÂ
âAnd you wanted to prove that to me by pulling me on top of you?âÂ
âWorked didnât it?â
âIt was stupid⌠like your strategy today.â His smirk dropped at your words, and using his grip on you he flipped the two of you over.Â
Looking down at you he spoke. âAs if I have any control over that.âÂ
âBut you do.âÂ
He scrunched his face up at your words. âHardly-âÂ
âYou told me that you think you have control of things but everything can change in a heartbeat, Ferrari thinks theyâre in control of things but you can change it in a heartbeat. Go against them-âÂ
âAnd what if it goes wrong?â
âBut what if it goes right?âÂ
You had a point, a point that Charles was thinking very seriously about. If he went against Fearri and won it would prove to them that he could be trusted to make the decisions that Ferarri continued to get wrong. If he got it wrong then he could at least live with the fact that he tried and clearly both he and Ferrari needed to work on things.Â
âLost in thought Leclerc?â
âWhen you arenât being a smug prick you actually speak sense.â
âIâve always spoken sense Leclerc, you just never listen.âÂ
âClearly.â His eyes searched yours for a second too long.Â
He knew he shouldnât think about you like he was but after seeing you in the dress and now laying beneath him it was hard not to think about the Verstappen girl as his. Despite the hatred towards you he couldnât help but think about you by his side. You were stunning and every single driver had tried it on with you well⌠they tried until Max began to linger around more than he normally did. It was clear to Charles that Max was overprotective when it came to his twin and Charles couldnât blame him. Constant fliting from every single driver and not to mention interviewers who loved to ask you sexist questions in the hope of a reaction they could use to paint you in a bad light meant Max became your shadow.Â
âMr Leclerc?â A loud voice and hushed whispers sounded from outside his room.Â
âThereâs still time for an interview!â Another voice called out.Â
âOh just fuck offâŚâ His head fell against your chest as he took a deep breath. âYou do realise that if theyâre going to camp outside my room until the early hours of the morning for a story then you canât leave.â He raised his head to meet your eyes again.Â
âAs long as you take the chair and Iâll have the bed.â A teasing grin spread across your lips as you searched his eyes.Â
âDeal.âÂ
Charles had given you one of his shirts to sleep in and much to your disgust it has his name printed on the back and the Ferarri logo printed on the front. He sat on the edge of the bed in just his boxers, his phone in his hand waiting to get a photo of the Redbull stargirl in his shirt with his name on her back.Â
âItâs hideous.â You called out to him from his bathroom.Â
âOh come on y/n you donât look that bad, I know youâre related to Max but-â You swung the door open, your eyes burning into his smiley expression. âTurn around.â His smile grew as you turned around. Raising his phone he took a quick picture before holding it up to you. âWell, thatâs my new lock screen sorted.â If looks could kill Charles would be buried six feet under.Â
âDelete that!â You jumped forward, straddling him in an attempt to grab his phone. His free hand fell to your waist, his eyes flickered down as he watched his shirt ride up your body. You were going to be the death of him.Â
âIâll make you a deal Verstappen.âÂ
âGo on.âÂ
âLet me pass in Canada and Iâll delete it.â
âIf I let you pass you have to wear a Redbull shirt with my name on the back.âÂ
âDeal.â You gave him a quick glance before moving off your rival and sat in the chair he was meant to sleep in.Â
âSo if I let you pass are you going to challenge Ferarri and their shit strategies?âÂ
âYouâve convinced me you know.â He moved his duvet to cover his slight problem, something that didnât go unnoticed by you but that was something to tease him for another night. âIt might all go wrong but it might all go right.â
âExactly and you didnât get that seat by following the rules.â
He laughed at your words. âYou sound like my Dad.â
âHeâd be so proud of you Charles.âÂ
Youâd grown up with Charles and therefore knew his Dad. The day he passed youâd never seen someone so broken. Charles did his best to keep himself together for his family but you saw straight through him. You caught him sobbing in the garages and without a thought, you knelt down beside him and wrapped your arms around him and let him cry into your chest for however long he needed. You two didnât utter a word during the interaction and you never spoke about it after.
His eyes softened at your words, his gaze never leaving yours. âThank you, I hope so.â
âHe would be, never doubt that Leclerc.â
âI didnât know you could be so kind.â Smirking he spoke again. âThought the Verstappens were stone cold.â
âLiar.â You matched his facial expressions.
âHowâs your Dad? Still as brutal as he once was?â Charles didnât even know half of it, sure heâd heard rumours but he never knew the truth about yours and Maxâs childhood.
âOf course, he never changes.â Charles watched as your eyes left his gaze and fell to the floor. He watched as you tugged at the hem of his shirt before you spoke again. âSometimes I wonder what it would be like if Iâd gone to live with my Mum and Victoria but I guess I wouldnât be here now.â
âDo you miss her?â
âAll the time. The problem is me and Max travel all the time for work, Victoria has her own life and when my Dad is at the races my Mum wonât turn up.â He nodded, unsure of what to say but you beat him to it. âBut I have Max and without him, Iâd be lost.â
âYouâre lucky you have one another.â
âSo are you and your brothers, especially Arthur. One day youâll be racing alongside one another.âÂ
âMy Mum would hate it.â
âWhy?â
âSheâd be worried that weâd fall out, too busy fighting one another on the track and off the track.â
âMaybe if he joins Ferarri the two of you can bond over how shit the cars are.âÂ
He laughed at your statement, throwing his head back as he shifted in his spot. âDo you and Max ever argue over the races?â
âMore as kids but now that weâre in F1 we never argue, itâs a rarity if we do. You and Arthur will be fine.âÂ
His smile never faded. âI hope so. Weâve all come a long way from karting.â
âWho wouldâve thought?âÂ
âThought you wouldâve got bored of overtaking all us lads.â His smile turned to a smirk.Â
âIâll never get bored of overtaking you, Leclerc.âÂ
The pair of you spent the night talking over your childhoods, spending hours on end reminiscing the karting days and the more recent races. In this moment anyone wouldâve thought the two of you had been friends for years, the way you two laughed with one another made you wonder why the pair of you had ever been as rude to one another as you once were. Maybe he wasnât so bad after all.Â
Hours passed and Charles watched as you fell asleep in the hotel chair. A soft smile spread across his lips as he gently picked you up bridal style, his smile growing as he watched your head fall against his chest. He slowly lowered you down onto the mattress before joining you. Pulling the duvet across yours and his body he then wrapped his arms around you and pulled you into his chest.Â
âIf only you werenât Maxâs sister.â He muttered before falling asleep beside you.Â
â
Canada was your next race and Charles didnât lie when he said he was going to take your advice. You kept your end of the deal up and let him pass but that didnât mean youâd let him win. In the end, youâd managed to overtake him and finished in P1 and Charles was right behind you in P2. The pair of you couldnât stop smiling at one another whilst you shared one of many podiums together. The interaction was something Max couldnât keep his eyes off of, one minute you were sending Charles into a barrier and the next, the pair of you were dousing one another in champagne.Â
âGod I hate this colour!â Charles yelled from your hotel bathroom.Â
âNavy looks good on everyone-â
âNot me.â He stood before you in your room, holding up his end of the deal he was wearing a shirt with your name on the back.Â
âShow me the back.â The brunette reluctantly turned around. Much like heâd done with you, you took a picture of him. âMy name looks good on you.â
âMine looked better on yours.â He smirked back at you before the two of you burst into laughter but the happiness between you both didnât last long.
Silverstone was arguably one of your favourite tracks, Max always seemed to struggle but you thrived on the historic track. Your words stayed in your rival's mind so much so that Charles won the race with you trailing in P2. P2 was a result any parent would be proud of for their child, especially in a sport as competitive as Formula 1. Max had to retire the car after three laps due to an engine failure so your Dad was already in a shitty mood and his daughter losing out to her rival had tipped him over the edge.Â
Your team pulled you into large hugs, especially Christian who congratulated you with open arms but Jos didnât even look at you. You tried to not let his attitude get to you but the memories of your childhood swarmed your head. Charles took his opportunity and poured his bottle of champagne down your neck which made you spin around and drench him in yours. The sight only angered Jos even more. He couldnât believe you were acting like this after coming second and especially with Charles Leclerc.
After your interviews, Christian informed you that Jos wanted to see you in the garage. Brilliant. With a deep breath, you kept your head down and walked into the Redbull garage. âDad? You wanted to see me?âÂ
He was leaning against your car, closely inspecting the machine before him. âWhat was that?â
âWhat was what?âÂ
âThe race? P2? Really y/n?âÂ
âDad I was still on the podium-â
âNot at the top you werenât!â His voice grew.Â
âCharles was the only driver that beat me, it was a close race⌠the car-â
âStop blaming the car! It was your lack of skill-â
âMy lack of skill? Iâm a world champion I have enough skill-â
âEvidently not! You canât even beat a man who isnât even a world champion!â As he screamed he let his fist hit collide with a set of tools set beside you both. The sudden loud noise made you jump but that didnât stop Jos. âYou donât become a world champion by coming in second, is Leclerc a world champion? No, heâs not, you wanna know why?â Jos stepped closer, his voice growing. âBecause heâs a shit driver, heâs a pussy who canât even make a decision, he doesnât know whether to hit a wall or pit!â
âHeâs a good driverâŚâ Your voice was suddenly low.Â
âWhat did you say?â Jos taunted.
âHeâs a good driverâŚâÂ
âA good driver?â Your Dad scoffed. âIf heâs your definition of a good driver then itâs no wonder why you didnât win today.â
âDad Iâm still on track to win the championship this year, P2 isnât a bad result.âÂ
âI didnât raise you to come second, I raised you to win. If you canât do that maybe you should rethink your career.âÂ
âDad please-â
âDo you know how much Iâve sacrificed for you?âÂ
âDad this isnât about you-â
âYouâre so selfish y/n. Do you think I wanted to get my daughter into F1? I always knew Max would be better than you. Youâre lucky he has the talent he does because without it you wouldnât be here and you know it.â He grabbed a tool and threw it towards the car, letting it bounce off close to you, yet again you jumped at his actions but this time tears threatened to spill. âYouâre lucky that car is decent. You made me look like an idiot today and so did your brother, he was just lucky it was the car and not his lack of skill.â Jos stormed out of the garage, leaving you alone to sob your heart out.Â
Your breathing started to quicken and the tears started to spill down your cheeks. Anytime Jos snapped at either you and Max the pair of you would be there for one another but Max was nowhere to be seen. He was more than likely hiding away from Jos in his room. Your hands clutched the side of the car as you attempted to steady your breathing but nothing was working, your body was shaking with fear as a panic attack swarmed your body but unbeknown to you Charles had been listening in the whole time.
âHey, hey, youâre okay.â Charles pulled you from the car and into his arms, you fell into his touch as the two of you slumped against the wall, falling to the floor as he pulled you close. âShh, donât cry⌠y/n youâre safe.â His hands cupped your face, tilting your head to look up at his. His thumbs quickly swiped away your tears as you continued to cry. âHe canât hurt you, I promise you I wonât let him ever do that againâŚâ
âIâm sorryâŚâ Your tears damped his hands.Â
âWhat are you apologising for?â
âI- I donât knowâŚâ Your head fell against his chest, your breathing speeding up yet again.Â
ây/n please listen to me⌠I need you to listen⌠name three things you can see.â
âWhat?â Your brows furrowed at his question.Â
âTrust me, name three things you can see.â
âUmm⌠you, the car and uh mechanic tools.â
âThree things you can smell.â
âChampagne, metal⌠you know from the cars⌠burnt rubber.â Your body had stopped shaking and your breathing was slowing down.Â
âThree things you can feel.â
âYou⌠the champagne still on my suit⌠umm⌠my race suit?â
He looked down at you, a smile on his lips as he brushed your hair out of your face. âPerfect.â
âWhy did you ask me that?â
âStopped the panic attack, didnât it?â You hadnât even realised that youâd stopped shaking and your tears had slowed, your body was closer to his as he spoke. âWhen my Dad died I couldnât stop getting panic attacks and my Mum would always ask me those questions and it would always work.â You smiled into his chest as he kissed the top of your head. âDo you want to talk about it?â
âHow much did you hear?â
âAll of it.â
âWhy were you outside?â Pulling away from his chest you looked up at him.Â
âI wanted to thank you and well⌠tell you something.â
âThank me for what?â
âWhat you said to me weeks ago, about taking control. I did and I finally won a race this season.â
âTold you.â
âWho knows, maybe if weâd been caught together sooner I couldâve beaten you to a world championship.â
âYouâre still driving a Ferarri Leclerc.â
âMaybe Iâll join Redbull one day.â
âYou think you could take Maxâs seat?â
âWas more thinking of your seat.â His face lit up after seeing you break into a smile.Â
âDream on Leclerc, youâve got a better chance of winning a championship with Ferarri.â You felt his chest vibrate as he laughed at your words. âCharles?â
âHmm?â
âWhat did you want to tell me?âÂ
He hesitated and now it looked as if he was the one who was going to break into a panic attack. âIâm sorry if this is rash or Iâve read everything wrong but I canât keep this to myself anymore, y/n I like you and never in my life did I ever think Iâd ever fall for my childhood rival, especially a Verstappen but that night we spent together when we were hiding from the press just felt different. Everything from the conversation to the way you fell asleep on my chest just felt right. I know you may not feel the same but even if you donât I need to tell you, even if it means your brother will kill me⌠I-âÂ
Your hands cupped his jaw before putting your lips on his. Charles didnât hesitate to pull you onto his lap, deepening the kiss as his hands trailed down your race suit. Your hands raked through his hair, tugging on his locks which made him groan into the kiss. In that moment everything bad that had happened to you that day had disappeared. Eventually, you both pulled back, breathlessly looking into one another's eyes.Â
âWhy did you have to be a Leclerc?â You smiled at him.Â
âAnd why did you have to be a Verstappen?âÂ
â
That was two years ago. Two years ago the two of you had decided to make it official and two years were spent hiding it from Max and the rest of the world. Today was the first race of the season and you and Charles were spending the time you had left before having to pretend to hate one another. Your head was resting on his chest, your nails tracing his skin whilst his hands made their way through your hair.Â
âHow are you feeling about this season?â You moved your head to look up at him.Â
âConfident enough to beat you.â He smirked down, his hands moving your hair from your face. âCanât let you win a fourth championship, can I?â Last season youâd won and Charles had come second, Max had won the year before and Redbull had claimed the constructors championship for the sixth year in a row.Â
âDonât get ahead of yourself already Leclerc, itâs only the first race.â
âEvery race counts Verstappen.âÂ
He leant down and planted his lips onto yours, his hands moving to cup your jaw whilst the other grabbed your hip and moved you to straddle him. He tugged at your bottom lip which made you moan at his actions. The hand once cupping your jaw trailed down your chest and made its way underneath your shirt. Pushing your shirt higher up he moved away from the kiss and pulled your shirt off your body, leaving you in just your underwear before him. His hands reached up to your boobs, cupping them and smirking as you let out a soft moan. His head turned to look at the clock beside his bed.Â
âWeâve got time.âÂ
âIf itâs anything like your driving weâll be late.â Your flushed face smirked at your own words. Rolling his eyes Charles flipped the two of you over as he replied.Â
âShut up y/n.â His lips connected with yours as the two of you shared one last moment with one another before having to face the cameras.Â
Bahrain was always a spectacle. Being the first race of the season meant more eyes than ever before were on you. The race was about to be underway, Charles was starting at the front, you were in P2 and Max was in P3. As you climbed into your car Charles turned his head and winked although his wink was more like a forced heavy blink. No matter how many times he did the action it always made you smile. Making sure no one was looking he quickly mouthed âI love youâ before getting in the car. You mouthed back to him, a smile on your face before putting your helmet on and getting into the car.Â
âAnd itâs lights out and away we go! Verstappen gets a good start but Leclerc is holding off as best he can!â You may be his girlfriend but Charles would never let you pass easily but you didnât need his kindness. After a few laps, you were able to overtake Charles, he was still firmly behind.Â
After thirty laps you decided to pit before coming out behind your boyfriend. It didnât take long for your tyres to warm up and within a few laps, youâd overtaken your boyfriend again. Just like the past few seasons, Redbull had completely dominated the tracks and now you were slowly coming up behind Pierre Gasly. Gasly had been given the instructions to let you pass and reluctantly he did so. As the Frenchman reluctantly moved out of the way he suddenly lost control of his car as he went around a corner, his car spun and hit yours and driving at hundreds of miles an hour, your car went flying into one of the barriers.Â
The second your car collided with a barrier and Gasly spun out a red flag was immediately deployed on the track. ây/n are you okay?â You heard the familiar voice of Christian through your radio. Your whole body screamed in pain as you attempted to leave the car but it was too much. Your head fell back as you took deep breaths, trying to steady yourself when a sudden surge of heat started to warm your body.Â
âShit.â You mumbled and suddenly instincts kicked in. Despite the surge of pain you quickly scrambled to get yourself out of the car. Just as you started to climb out your head began to spin and before you knew it, everything went black.Â
Meanwhile, Charles was slowly driving up to the scene before him. âRed flag, red flag, go slow and return to the pits.â His radio filled his ears.Â
âWhatâs happened?â
âVerstappen and Gasly had an incident, both cars are out.â
âAre they okay?âÂ
âGasly is out, no word from Verstappen yet.â
As the words filled his head Charles looked at the sight before him. A Redbull car clearly displaying your number on the side was being swarmed in flames. He didnât think for a second. Charles stopped his car and quickly jumped out, little did he know your brother was following suit. The pair of them didnât get far before being stopped by the stewards who begged them to return to their cars and head back to the pits.Â
An ambulance quickly arrived and Charles and Max watched you being stretched onto the vehicle before being taken to a nearby hospital. âWhy did you run out?â Max asked as he turned on his heel and returned to his car.Â
A teary-eyed Charles looked at your brother, his breathing getting worse as he knew he had to tell Max what was really going on. âMax Iâm sorry⌠we shouldâve told you-â
âTold me what?â His patience had left his body. âFucking hell spit it out, Leclerc!âÂ
âI love her Max! Weâve been together for two years and now sheâs in a fucking ambulance and I donât know if sheâs okay⌠fuck what if sheâs seriously hurt?â His hands ran through his hair as tears started to fall down his cheeks, panic taking over.Â
At this moment Max wanted to rip him limb from limb. He wanted Charles to be in the back of that ambulance not you but the sight of him breaking down into tears and on the verge of a panic attack he couldnât even let those thoughts come to fruition. If what he said was true and the two of you were together then it was clear he cared for you. No sane person would ditch their car and run out onto a track with cars driving fast enough to kill someone in an instant unless they really cared for them. Max took a step forward and pulled Charles in for a hug. Charles didnât care if he was taken off guard by Maxâs actions, he wrapped his arms around him and sobbed into his shoulder.Â
âSheâll be okay,â Max spoke. âLet's get back to the pits and Iâll drive us to the hospital.â Your boyfriend nodded as he pulled away before he and your brother made their way back to the pits.
â
âHello Miss Verstappen Iâm Doctor Sharp.â Youâd just climbed back into your race suit after some routine checks as a tall blonde woman began speaking to you. âYouâre results from the scan are normal, we suspect you fainted due to the crash impact and the panic.â
âSo Iâm okay?â You asked.Â
âYou are.â She smiled. âIâve forwarded the information to your race principal as your brother didnât return my calls.â
âWhoâs winning the race?âÂ
She laughed at your words. âYou could have received a very serious head injury yet all you can think of is Formula 1? Well Russell is leading, Piastri is running P2 and Hamilton is in P3.âÂ
âYou a fan of F1?âÂ
âI am which is why I was rather surprised to see you in here, never did I think a Verstappen would crash out.â You laughed gently at her words.Â
âWe all have our off days.âÂ
âWe do indeed Miss Verstappen.â She handed you some medication. âThere are some strong painkillers for you. Take them twice a day, I recommend morning and evening to help you through the day and sleep. The pain should subside in a couple of days but you have a month's supply in there. Any therapy you do for your skin should be done more often now, hot baths or showers will be your best friend for a while.âÂ
âThank you.âÂ
âI have requested for a taxi to take you home or someone to come pick you. Again, I called your brother but Iâve had no reply-âÂ
ây/n!â Maxâs voice cut the doctor off. Both he and Charles swung the doors open and sprinted to your bedside. âIs she okay?â Max asked the woman by your side.Â
âSheâs fine, she just took a big knock. Youâre lucky you have fireproof suits otherwise the outcome would have been a lot worse.â She now turned to you. âYou can come home with them, just tell reception when you leave. Iâll leave you to it.â She winked before leaving you with your brother and boyfriend.
âIâm going to fucking kill Gasly, absolute twat. Wasnât that hard to let you through!â Max spat as he came to your side.Â
âMax it was a mistake-â
âA mistake that couldâve cost your life!âÂ
âBut it didnât, Iâm fine. Itâs not like he meant it.â Your eyes flickered over to Charles who was standing watching the two of you with tears in his eyes. âHello, Charles.â You wondered how heâd managed to travel with your brother without Max killing and questioning his actions.Â
âHi, y/nâŚâ His voice broke as he spoke.Â
âI know by the way.â Max grabbed your attention. âHe told me.âÂ
âTold you what?âÂ
âYou mustâve hit your head if you canât remember that heâs your boyfriend.â Max smiled. âLook weâll talk about it later but just know this as long as youâre happy then thatâs all I care about but this doesnât mean I like him.âÂ
Your hand fell on top of Maxâs. âThank you.â You fell into his chest, the two of you embracing in a hug.Â
âIâm glad youâre okay. I knew you would be.â He laughed slightly as he pulled back. âIâll leave you two, Iâm just going to call Mum and Dad and let them know youâre okay.â He backed off to the door. âTry anything and Iâll put you through the wall.â Max glared at Charles before leaving the room.Â
Within seconds Charles had his lips pressed onto yours, his hands cupping your jaw as he savoured every single second of the kiss. âHe might be my best friend but Iâm going to kill Gasly too.â You both smiled at his words. âHow are you, my love?â
âMy body aches but Iâm fine, sheâs given me medication so I should be okay.âÂ
âThank God.â He planted another short kiss on your lips. âLook, Iâm sorry that I told Max. It wasnât my place and we shouldâve told him together but seeing the fire and you in the ambulance I just couldnât control my emotions, he asked why I just got out of my car and I told him. Iâm sorry-â
âCharles you donât need to apologise. I need to speak to Max about it. I shouldnât have left it 2 years to tell my brother⌠my Dad is going to kill me.â
âFor what part? The race or dating me?âÂ
âBoth.â Your smile returned to your lips.Â
âI wonât let him. He wonât ever raise his voice to you again.â
âMy knight in shining armour.â You both broke into smiles before Charles kissed you once more.Â
Max would never approve of the idea of you and Charles dating but it was something he would slowly warm up to although heâd never let Charles win whether he was your boyfriend or not and neither would you. He could ask you to marry him and youâd still make sure heâd never win as long as you were on the track. Your Mum was over the moon and loved Charles like he was one of her, your Dad on the other hand acted like youâd just thrown your career down the drain. The fans⌠well⌠they were ecstatic.Â

Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3
âTheyâre not friends, you understand? Theyâre rivals, and thatâs all theyâll ever be.â
You stand, hugging your helmet firmly against your chest, your dadâs words louder than the ringing in your ear from the way he slapped the side of your head. You were 9 and it was your first time competing in a karting competition. You tried to befriend the other kids your age, but as soon as your dad called you away, fuming, you knew it was a mistake.
You followed your dadâs orders, and didnât talk to any of the boys again. Max was already cold towards you, so he pretty much ignored your existence. But Charles was more talkative, and as you stopped answering him, he became taunting, annoying, but you didnât fall behind, you used to clap back at him with the same intensity.
Sometimes you eavesdropped on their conversations, initially it wasnât intentional, but they were always complaining about you, calling you names, and you realized your dad was right, they would never see you as a friend or equal, only as a rival.
One day youâre walking by when you hear your name in their conversation.
âNah, donât worry about Y/N,â Max shrugged, his accent thick, as he pointed to the side of his temple âsheâs a little slow, but maybe sheâll catch up.â
You stood there, his words echoing in your head, sheâs a little slow, that was a kind way to call you stupid, which, compared to the way your father called you that many times, it was much sweeter. You shouldnât have let that get to your head, specially said that way. But then again, you were 11, and you kept hearing those words again and again in your head. You never considered yourself dumb, your grades in school were average, and whenever you had time off of karting to study for your exams, your grades became even better, a little above average.
And despite knowing that, after going back home after the competition, you spent the whole Saturday at the local library, studying everything you could find on motorsports and Formula One. You lent books on strategy, history, and even mechanics. Every spare time you had, you spent reading those books, or lending others. You didnât want to be slow as they had called you.
After that, you stopped talking to Max completely.
âThis is a waste!â Your dad shouted, and you flinched, taking a discreet step back, away from him, trying to avoid him getting physical.
You had argued with him, which made him more furious. You tried to tell him it wasnât your fault, you were just as good at racing as everyone else, maybe better, but no one was willing to give a girl a chance. It made him even angrier.
âYou had one job! You get into F4 on your first try!â
You wanted to tell him it wasnât your fault. That they werenât willing to give a girl a chance, even if you were better than half of the boys who made it to F4. But your dad didnât care about any of it, he wanted you to succeed or nothing. He used to always say that anything below first place is failure.
So he decided you, at 14, werenât worth the money he spent on karting. And he simply left. Making peace with the fact that your dad never saw you as his kid, but more like an investment, was hard.
âYouâre never going to be a Formula 1 champion.â Was the last thing he said to you, before dropping you at your momâs to never come back.
Living with your mom ever since your dad gave you up was something else. She had lost everything after the divorce, thanks to a prenup she had naively signed without knowing anything about it. So when you moved in with her, you noticed how the house was smaller than your dadâs, you two slept in the single room that was there. Your mom worked two jobs living paycheck to paycheck, and you barely saw her. But she was kind, comforting.
You soon realized that she wouldnât be able to provide for your karting career. So you lied, you told her your dad was still paying for the karting, and you found two part time jobs to pay for racing. You mom worked so much, she didnât notice your absence in the afternoons, when you went to work in an auto repair shop. Sometimes, on the rare occasions she was off work in the afternoons, you lied and told her you were out with friends, or studying in the library or even doing extracurriculars. You had the best intentions, you used to tell yourself at night whenever you laid awake, you knew she would blame herself or even work herself to death to provide for you.
The entirety of the next year was a constant struggle, and you worked, and scrapped and lied your way through the entire karting competition. It was one of your last chances to get into F4, and you werenât sure you could live another year that way, without a sponsor.
When the competition ended, you were second place overall. Your kart had problems during the race and you were sad that it affected your performance in a race you couldâve won.
You walked closer as you saw a few of the other boys gathering around some adults, you eyed them curiously. As soon as you noticed who they were, you swallowed. They were probably scouts, it was very common in finals of these competitions, you were used to it. You also were used to being ignored by all of them scouts. You had tried many times before to make connections and make yourself known, maybe even meeting a potential sponsor, but they always ignored you. They werenât interested in a girl, they didnât care about a woman in motorsports. Your only hope was that one day you would meet a female scout and she would see your potential.
But meanwhile, there were only men, and they didnât give two fucks about you. So you didnât even get close enough to join, you heard Charles and Max talking with them, and you just turned around, going back to your kart.
You pulled a few tools from your backpack, working to fix the difficulties you felt during the race.
âWhat are you doing?â A man approached you, crouching close to watch your work. You briefly looked up, the guy was wearing sunglasses and a cap, just a normal guy, looking like someoneâs dad.
âIâm fixing my steering wheel, it was a bit stuck during the race so I had to double the force used to be able to make it work,â you explained, and he nodded.
âYou finished second, right? Why are you here by yourself?â The man asked.
âThe other kids donât like me very much. And theyâre talking to the scouts,â you shrugged, trying not to think about all the opportunities they would get and you wouldnât.
âYou should be there, no? Meeting scouts is important for your career.â
âTheyâre not very interested in a girl racer. Believe me, I know.â You muttered, finishing with the steering wheel, testing to see if it was working all right. You turned, fixing your left rear tyre. The tyre wasnât responding very well to the braking, âbesides, my kart wonât fix itself, right? Look, you see how this tyre is slower to respond to my braking? It messed up with my balance during the race. I could have won.â
âShouldnât you take your kart somewhere to get it fixed?â The man asked, helping you unscrew the tyre.
âCanât afford it,â you said, âIâm saving to try and get into F4, so I canât spare any money on this one.â
You werenât usually this talkative with new people, mostly keeping to yourself. But maybe you were missing a grownup figure in your life since your dad had dipped and your mom was always busy. And that man sounded really interested in your stuff, so it felt natural explaining to him.
âSo, no one sponsoring you?â He asked, which made you look at him again, hesitantly.
âNo, uh, I had one but he dropped me last yearâ you said, leaving out that part that it was your dad.
âYou know who I am?â The man asked and you looked at him, shaking your head.
âSomeoneâs dad? I mean, I havenât been introduced to all the kids and their parents yet, but youâre kinda familiar, so-â As you were babbling and trying to explain, he took off the cap and sunglasses, and you immediately recognized him, âoh my god!â
âShh, shhâ he silenced you, putting the disguise back.
âYouâre Kimi Raikkonen!â You whispered, and he nodded.
âIâll be your new sponsor, eh? What do you say?â
"Just like that?"
"Just like that," he nodded.
"How do you know I'm good enough for a sponsorship?" You asked, genuinely curious.
"Well, are you good enough for a sponsorship?" He asked. He had been keeping an eye out at that very category, and you had caught his attention as seemingly smart and emotionally controlled with the kart.
"I'm the best of the bunch," you smiled at him and you won him over with that answer.
Kimi became your lifeline, in a way. His family was quick to embrace you in an affectionate way you wouldâve never expected of them. They invited you for their little New Yearâs party, and you eventually told everything about your life to Kimi. His wife Minttu had also taken you as one of her own and their kids liked you a lot.
Under Minttuâs suggestion, Kimi also enrolled you in language classes, so besides English, you spent the next years learning French and Spanish, and you also caught a little Finnish from being so close to them.
You kept pushing your way up from F4 to F3 and so on, but instead of climbing it steadily like the boys, you had to win two or three times more than them to prove you were worth taking the next step.
You were 16 when your paths crossed with the boys from your childhood again. They recognised you, but they never really talked to you, so they didn't this time around either.
Coming out of the bathroom you once again caught a conversation, and you stopped dead as soon as you heard your name.
âNo, not really⌠I donât see her like that at all- sheâs- uh-â Charles was speaking, probably looking for the words in english, â-sheâs more like one of the boys.â
You paused, your breath hitched.
âYeah,â that was Max, âI donât see her like that either. I guess she doesnât care about the things girls her age do.â
You felt a lump in your throat, retreating back to the bathroom. You stood in front of the mirror, watching your face as the tears fell down on your cheeks. You were dressed in your regular racing day attire, cargo pants and a sweater. You didnât wear makeup and your hair was all frizzy because of the helmet.
The next time you went to the Raikkonen residence, you pulled Minttu aside one moment.
âI want to be pretty. Will you help me?â
You two went through a long chat with Minttu reassuring you that you were pretty in your own way and you insisting you wanted to be pretty like other girls, more feminine and girly.
When you entered F2 after the winter break, you felt and looked like some better version of yourself. Minttu had helped you set a skincare routine that was already helping clear your face from teenage acne. She also took you to a hair salon, where you trimmed your hair and made a few highlights. She upgraded your wardrobe, and even if you tried to refuse saying it was too much, she said it was a Christmas gift and wouldnât take no for an answer.
Your path until reaching F1 was slow and steady, and you were a reserve driver for two years before finally getting a seat at McLaren. You knew Kimi probably had a hand in getting you a chance, but he denied every time you asked.
Kimi told you the raw truth before the season started. He and Minttu sat you down and talked about how the world and Formula 1 would expect more of you than of any other rookie. How they would stress your mistakes tenfold. How they would diminish your achievements with the same intensity. You werenât afraid, really.
âIâve lived with my greatest hater more than half of my life, I can handle strangersâ you had laughed to the couple.
Still, Kimi taught you everything about his Iceman persona, and told you to pick whatever you wanted from it. Minttu also convinced you to start therapy, which you accepted.
The hate started as soon as you were announced. Beyond the regular misogyny, they were calling you too old to be a rookie at 24, they were questioning your abilities even with numerous championships from other categories to back you up, even with the fact that your mentor was Kimi fucking Raikkonen. But you didnât let any of that get under your skin.
Sebastian Vettel was quickly drawn to you, and he became your first friend in Formula 1. He had been close with Kimi from the time they were teammates, and he kinda adopted you.
The guys your age didnât want to get too close to you. The very few times they talked or walked with you, it sparked romance rumors, and soon they pretty much ignored or avoided you. You knew their intentions weren't to be mean, they were probably just avoiding problems with the media and their girlfriends or wives, but it didnât hurt any less every time they walked straight past you.
One of those times you were going to the group press conference and all three of the guys walked past you as you tried to chat with them. Your shoulders slumped, and you swallowed the lump in your throat.
âWhat was that?â You jumped at the sound of another voice. You looked behind you to see Fernando Alonso walking up to you. Up until that point, he had been polite to you.
âOh,â you stumbled over your words, âbeing seen talking to me is bad press, apparently.â
âUna tonterĂa,â he muttered, shaking his head, which made you laugh, surprised. He put a friendly hand over your shoulder and led you to the media session.
Simples as that, Fernando too became your friend.
You asked your PR manager, Amanda, to bend a few rules to make sure you would always be at the press conference with Seb and Nando or at least one of them. Most of the time, you did. But sometimes you were unlucky and had to sit stiffly through rounds of absurdly odd (and downright misogynistic) questions by yourself.
Soon you gave up on befriending the other drivers and being charming to the media. You realized the Iceman persona of Kimi looked like a good way to protect yourself from the clutches of the motorsport world. By the sixth race of the year, you gained the Lioness nickname. An agile hunter in your driving style and just as fierce in your answers.
âYouâre always seen more comfortable with either Sebastian or Fernando, who are way older than youâ some reporter said, âwhy is that?â
âI believe weâre closer in maturity age,â you said, face expressionless. You heard snickers around the room and you looked to Fernando who was visibly holding a laugh.
âSo youâre saying the other drivers are immature?â The reporter pressed, but you didnât want to talk anymore.
âNo,â itâs all you answered, putting your mic down.
Everyone already thought you were arrogant, selfish, and superficial, and as you embraced your cold persona, you just fed into their assumptions. You couldn't care less, it was a good way to protect yourself, to be distant from the media who were constantly trying to drag you to the dirt.Â
âYou mentioned the other day that you believe you shouldâve joined F1 around the time the guys your age did. Why do you think that didnât happen?â
âBecause of whatâs between my legs, Brianâ you deadpanned.
You had to prove yourself two or three times more than the boys every single step of the way, to get into F4, F3, F2 and now F1. You made it, you were there, between the 20 best of motorsport in the whole world⌠and still⌠Still you had to hear questions about how you managed to race with a period, questions about boyfriends, questions about hair care or skin care, or whatever. You wouldnât mind any of that if those were common questions, if they were asked of every driver, but they were only asked of you.
âI would like to express that, from now on, I will only answer questions that would be asked of the male drivers too, about the sport, about the cars, about strategies and everything that revolves around racing,â you warned one day before the end of a media conference when someone asked if your PMS interfered in your racing.
You started to not give two fucks about the media. Every time someone asked you a misogynistic question you just stared at them and put your mic down. So those types of question died down a little bit.
âDo you think you wouldâve already been world champion had you entered Formula 1 earlier, letâs say at age 19/20?â
âYes.â
Most of the guys ignored or avoided you, but your path always clashed with Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen. They always hinted at not liking you in the slightest, and the media and the fans started catching up to it, throughout your rookie year. They would shamelessly shade you, and you never backed down, giving it as hard as you got.
You walked to a reporter, still using a towel to dry your face at the post race interview.
âDid you hear what Leclerc said about your move as you left the pits?â The man asked you.
âNo, I didnât. Do I look like I care about a manâs opinion?â You said, loud and clear.
You got as many fans as you got haters, especially as you messed with Leclercâs and Verstappenâs loud fanbases. It wasnât really on purpose, but one of them would usually jab at you in interviews, and when word got back to you, it would anger you to no end, and you would shade them back, and in an insane amount of back-and-forths until your rivalry was in articles, the news, twitter threads, and in the mind of every single reporter in a race week.
âVerstappen talked about your overtake at lap 49, he said it was a dirty move.â
âLike he did to me back in Silverstone?â Your eyes held a mischievous glint as you scoffed, âFunny, you didnât see me whining about it back then.â
You had the best rookie year ever since Lewis Hamilton debuted. You almost reached the same overall numbers as him, getting six podiums and your first ever Formula 1 victory. You finished the driverâs championship in fifth place, over older drivers that were literal champions of the world.
The first time Lewis Hamilton really engaged in conversation with you was during the FIA Prize Giving Ceremony by the end of the season. You were proudly smiling, holding your Rookie of the Year trophy. He had been polite to you before, but he always looked unattainable, in a way. He was beyond the world of Formula 1.
âCongratulations!â He smiled at you, sitting by your side. Your heart thrumming in your chest, trying not to fangirl too much. Sometimes it was unbelievable sharing casual conversation with legends you grew up admiring from afar.
âThank you, Lewis. Congratulations on the championship!â You said.
âIâm sorry for not realizing most of the boys were excluding you. I chatted about it with Seb, and he told me your only friends are him and Fernando.â Lewis whispered, looking genuine, âI guess I was so focused on the championship that I didnât bother to check on you. Iâm sorry, really.â
âDonât worry about it,â you raised your trophy, âI made it, right?â
âSucceeding despite the adversities⌠I see traits of a champion in you, congratulationsâ Lewis got up, raising his flute in a toast for you, âsee you around, Lioness!â
Soon the next season you realized you had a competitive car. More than the year before. As for the first few races of the season, you had a win and podiums, which put you as a contender for the driverâs championship. Unfortunately the other people competing closely with you were none other than Charles and Max. Your rivalry had died down a bit when they noticed that you only shaded them when they provoked you first. So as their jabs became few and far between, it meant your clap backs did too.
The season was as good as it could get, that is until Monza.
You had felt the problems braking specifically during qualifying and your team tried to fix it but there wasnât much anyone could do due to parc fermĂŠ. So you spent part of the night before the race working with your strategist to find a way around your braking problems and the best way to preserve your tyres.
The data had shown it would take a bit more strength to brake, which would eat up at your tyres quicker than usual, but other than that, everything seemed normal.
You all were wrong.
As the race went on, your brakes got progressively worse, to the point that curves were taking your body strength so much you could feel your muscles sore.
âWe are considering retiring the car,â Jace, your engineer said. You inhaled, trying to calm down.
You were barely holding your P5, when you saw a Red Bull approaching you. You werenât in position to fight, so he overtook you turning in a chicane. But your brakes didnât work as you tried to slow down behind Maxâs car, you tried not going into him but your tyres locked as you tried to avoid his rear. You drove straight into his rear, making the two of you lose control of your car. You braced for impact against the wall but luckily the gravel slowed you enough that you just touched the barrier.
After checking with your engineer, you left the car and saw Max leaving his, both DNFs.
You knew of your fame of being a reckless driver, often known for risky maneuvers and overtakes, but you never dove into someone intentionally because you knew trying to take someone out would mean yourself getting taken out too. As a marshal took you back to the garage on a motorcycle, you were ready to swallow your pride and apologize to Max for accidentally taking him out.
But as soon as you stepped down from the motorcycle, Max was in your space. His face was red and his hair all sweaty and disheveled, when he fronted you, chest to chest. You knew there were dozens of cameras pointed to you, so you tried to diffuse the tension for once.
âAre you insane?! Why did you drive into me?!â He kept advancing and for each of his steps ahead, you took one back to try and explain. But he didnât give you a second screaming all kinds of curses and blame, âyou shouldâve never made it to Formula 1!â
His words were like a slap to the face, and you stopped trying to apologize or explain. You put both hands to your back, inflating your chest to face him.
âYou donât get to fucking decide that! You dipshit! Who the fuck do you think you are?â You said to his face, thatâs when someone from the RedBull garage ran closer and stood between you.
You watched as he was taken away from you and inside his garage. At the same time your PT found you and walked you back to McLaren.
Changing from your race suit, you tried to cool down before going to the media. You gulped down your water as you watched Charles leading the race, and getting closer to the championship than you.
âThere was an altercation between you and Max Verstappen, can you comment on that?â
âHe was visibly upset with the racing incident.â It was all you said, after chatting with your PR manager before stepping out to chat with the journalists.
âAnd what happened at that incident? Can you walk us through it?â
âYes, uh, weâve been feeling something wrong with our braking system since yesterday. The data showed us it would require me to be more forceful during braking, which seemed feasible. But the brakes were wearing off during the race and we were about to retire when I completely lost the brakes. I really tried to avoid him but my tyres locked and I ended up hitting Verstappen.â
âAre you sure this accident has nothing to do with the ongoing rivalry between the two of you?â You got offended by the reporter's words.
âOf course! I would never intentionally do something to put myself or other drivers at risk. I have all the data to back me up and anyone can check my onboard.â
The FIA investigated your altercation with Max, and you ended up getting an unsportsmanlike behavior penalty. Two points in your super license.
âWhat the fuck?! Why the fuck would I be punished for that! There are fourteen different angles from that argument and all of them show how Verstappen aggressively came on to me first!â
It got worse when you heard that only you had gotten a penalty and Max didnât even get a reprimand.
Everyone close to you noticed how you were on edge next week. During media day your answers were short, dry, and every single journalist seemed to want to talk about the penalty.
âYes, I do have opinions on my penalty. But no, I wonât talk about it, only the FIAâs opinion is relevantâ Your words during the press conference were enough to express a little dissatisfaction and to put an end to those questions. Everyone was surprised at the fact you chose to be quiet about the whole ordeal, they were all expecting your complaints and harsh words.
When you went back to your driverâs room, you went straight to lay your head on your momâs lap, feeling a bit down. You stayed quiet as she ran her hands through your hair softly untangling it. She knew you were upset and why, so none of you bother to voice anything, bashing in the comforting silence.
The best thing about Formula 1 was being able to retire your mom from working, now you didnât have to worry about her burning out and she didnât have to worry about bills or mortgage or debts. Now she had a new, bigger and better house, everything was paid for and you even gave her a credit card for hobbies or whatever she wanted. She sometimes went to the races, but she usually stayed at home, relaxing.
âI know things are hard right now,â you mom started, her voice soft, caring, âbut I know you can do it, honey. Youâve faced pushback since the beginning of this dream, but you always came out on top.â
âThank you for believing in me.â
âYou will be a world champion, honey. I know it.â She smiled down at you.
You sat up as your mom removed her watch, handing it to you.
âI wanted to give it to you on your birthday, but I feel like this is the right moment,â she turned the watch, showing you the inscription that read strong woman, and you felt your eyes water, âthis was my grandmaâs. She gave it to my mom, who gave it to me, and now itâs yours.â
That week you got a victory, raising your P1 trophy for your mom, who was watching you with a hand on her heart, crying happy tears.
As the season progressed the championship became even tighter between the three of you. Mere points set the three of you apart, and with each week result, the P1, P2 and P3 shifted between you. It had become one of the most competitive seasons in the sport.
When the third to last race came in Qatar, you were P3 in the championship, and you needed at least P4 in that race to keep fighting for the championship. You didnât care about anything other than getting a podium, focused on your racing mindset, no distractions. If you only got that win, it would mean getting back that P1 in the championship and you would go down in history.
You were P3 after your last pitstop of the race, you had a small window of time to take advantage of being with new mediums while everyone else was with old softs. You had to pull ahead and open at least ten seconds, so you could become first when Max went to the pits. You had the perfect opportunity for an undercut.
That was until you overtook Charlesâ Ferrari for P2. You passed him easily, he hadnât gone to the pits yet, so he had old tyres. But you frowned as Jace warned you about Leclerc trying to take the position back. He couldnât fight against your new tyres, everyone knew that. You accelerated to open a distance, but as you went fast into turn 4, you only felt the hit to your side, making you lose control of the car.
It was barely a few seconds that you couldnât wrap your head around, so shocked you couldnât brake, only feeling your stomach churn as you braced for impact. The second hit came against the barriers even harder than the first, it shook your whole body, leaving you dizzy and out of breath.
You talked with Jace, telling him in a shaky voice that you were okay but out of breath, and you unlocked your seatbelts with trembling hands. After removing your steering wheel, you tried to get up but you were dizzy and your legs felt like jelly. A marshal helped you out of the car, but as soon as your feet were on the ground, you stumbled to your knees. The nausea got the best of you and you puked against your balaclava and inside the helmet. The marshals made a small shield around you, as one of them helped you remove the helmet and balaclava, still dry heaving. The marshal gave you a towel, and you cleaned the best you could as the ambulance was coming.
You looked behind you to your destroyed car.
And just like that, you had lost any chance at the championship.
You held your tears as you went through the medical procedures and examinations. The world had been muted in the background and you could only hear the noise of the crash, visualizing your ruined car, and your dreams being crushed once again.
But as you came back to the hospitality, you found your mom, and sobbed quietly against her chest.
âItâs ok, honey. Itâs okay,â her voice was so soothing and the pain meds were working, so you cried yourself to sleep while she held you.
Later that day, you watched the replay of your crash. Leclerc had gone way too close to you, but in turn 4 he hit the curbs and lost control, hitting your car right in the middle, full force. Your car had spun out a lot then hit the barriers. It was lucky that you had come out of the crash relatively unharmed, it was ugly and couldâve been a lot worse, from the way you spun and the G force your car hit the barrier with.
âYouâre still watching that?â Your momâs voice sounded in the middle of the night.
âHe shouldnât have tried to fight for the position back, he didnât even have enough tyres for that! And he was way too close, look!â
Your mom closed your laptop, putting it on the coffee table. She took your hands in hers and smiled gently.
âIâm sorry about the championship. But Iâm glad youâre okay, that was one of the scariest couple of seconds of my entire life,â she whispered, teary eyed.
âIâm sorry,â you muttered, ashamed that it didnât cross your mind how worried she might have been.
âItâs okay, honey. Thereâs always next year, Iâm sure you will be world champion. And will be there cheering for you.â
The next week in Jeddah, you felt like the world was out to get you when they put you in the press conference with both Max and Charles, as well as Lewis and Sebastian.
âY/N, how are you feeling after last weekâs crash? It looked pretty bad.â Someone asked.
âI am doing ok, thank you,â thatâs all you said into the mic.
âUnfortunately, the crash ultimately took you out of the championship, what do you say about that?â
You were so tired of that question, so tired of your PR manager talking in your head about not blaming Charles publicly, despiste your desire to scream to whoever may hear that the monegasque just wanted to take you out of the competition, so he could fight only Verstappen for the championship. You just wanted the season to be over, in all honesty.
âThereâs always next year, right?â You echoed your mom's words, that were also your rehearsed answer. You looked to the side, feeling Sebastianâs hand softly on your forearm, a silent show of support.
You left as soon as it was over. You knew Charles had been trying to talk to you. You supposed it was to apologize, but you werenât having it. You were still so angry at him that you worried youâd punch him as soon as he was in your face. So you just avoided him like the plague. You didnât want to see him, and you couldnât afford another punishment if you acted on your anger.
âCharles has been looking for you,â Sebastian said, walking up to you as you were finishing braiding your hair for the race.
âI have been avoiding him,â you said, not looking at Seb, still focusing on your braids.
âHe just wants to apologize.â
âAnd I want to punch him in the face, so what? We canât always get what we wantâ You clenched your jaw, using an elastic band to finish.
âY/NâŚâ Sebastian sounded tired.
âDonât Y/N me. I just want this season to be over, ok? The championship was in my reach, and now itâs not. And it wasnât even my own fault. So no, I wonât see him.â
Sebastian didnât say anything as he walked to you and pulled you in an affectionate hug that made you want to cry again.
During the driverâs parade, Fernando acted almost as a guard dog, not letting anyone close to you. You talked with him and Lewis about the crash, explaining how it felt to you.
When the season ended, you got a third place trophy during the Prize Giving Ceremony. You remembered your dadâs words throughout the entire night. Coming down from the stage, and you met with Minttu and Kimi, they congratulated you, but you couldnât shake the feeling of failure. You looked at Charles on the stage with his P2 trophy.
âAnything other than the first is failure, right?â You sighed, eyes glued to the stage, where Max got the trophy of Champion of the World.
âWhat crap is that?â Kimi said, suddenly.
âMy dad used to say that when I was a kid.â
âWell he was an asshole,â Kimi said matter-of-factly, âand he never made it to F1. He didnât even make it to F4, he has no reason or power to get in your head. You were just a kid. You understand?â
âYes, Kimi," you swallowed, feeling some kind of wheight being lifted from your shoulders. Kimi had done many great things for your life with very few words, and his succint way of being was great to pull you back to the present whenever you anxiety got the best of you.
You ended up getting the Personality of the Year award too, which was such a surprise that it worked wonders to lift your spirits and to end the season with a sweet note.
Even being in a better mood, you didnât stay at the party too late, saying your farewell to your friends as you dropped Kimi and his wife at the hotel. You were removing your makeup after a shower when there was a knock on your hotel room door. Thinking it was an emergency, you rushed only to be faced with Charles Leclerc.
âWhat are you doing here?â You looked around the hall, confused.
âCan I talk to you?â Charles was still dressed in his formal attire, black tie. He fiddled with his fingers as you let him in, afraid someone might see him at your door.
âWhat?â You crossed your arms as you closed the door.
âIâm really sorry about the crash in Qatar,â he waited for your answer with bated breath.
âCan we have this conversation when next season starts?â You proposed. You knew you werenât ready for that talk yet, too much anger was still clouding your judgment for a level-headed talk.
âIt wasnât my intention to take you out-â He started but you cut him off.
âLook, youâve never liked me, Iâm aware, and you cost me an entire championship, so I donât know if I believe you.â
âIt really wasnât intentional, the accident cost me the championship as well,â you could see in his eyes that his patience was wearing thin. But so did yours.
âNo it didnât. You still had a chance even after that DNF, you just didnât win anyway,â your anger simmered again, making you raise your voice.
âFuck you! You treat me like this because you always felt like you were better than everyone-â
âI treat you like this?! Be fucking for real, Charles! You hate me so much you took my chance at the championship away!â
âIf you had more wins during the season maybe this wouldnât be a problem right now!â
âUnbelievable! Because you are so much better than me, all you got was second place!â
âShut up.â
âYouâve always hated me for absolutely no reason-â
âShut up.â
âAnd now you think you can barge into my room and tell me you think Iâm a shitty driver? Iâm not standing for-â
âShut up!â He shouted, which was so surprising you actually stopped talking.
The both of you were breathing heavily, in one second you were sure you could strangle him, in the next, his lips were against yours and his hand gripping your hair. The kiss was nasty, all teeth and lips and tongue, his hands going down your body, pressing you into him, and your fingers tugging at his suit, ripping the buttons. You broke the kiss, gasping for air, but Charlesâ lips found your neck and he bit into your pulse point.
âFuck you, Charlesâ you said, breathless, opening his trousers and he ripped your little sleep top with his bare hands.
It was so hot as you stumbled backwards and he followed you, tossing your top behind him, you took off his shirt and undershirt and he helped you kick out your shorts.
Charles pressed you against the wall, kissing you aggressively again, and you moaned as he placed his thigh between your legs, and you ground against him, turned on, dampening his trousers with the wet of your panties. You pressed your hand against his bulge, and he groaned, pressing into you even harder, humping like horny teenagers.
You didnât even bother to get him naked, with his trousers half undone, you just pulled his cock out, heavy in your hands. You watched his pained expression as you spit on your hand so you could masturbate him.
âFuck it,â you moaned, knowing grinding on him was not nearly enough.
You pulled your panties to the side, and lined his cock up into you. It was so tight as he slid into you, that your eyes rolled in pleasure, and he raised one of your legs against his waist to make room for his hips. He pulled back and snapped his hips into you again, his cock stretching you so good you were shaking. You put one arm around his shoulders holding on him and the other hand you held his ass under his loose trousers, your nails biting into his flesh as you pushed him even deeper.
âFuck, ah-â he moaned in your ear, âso hot- putain-â
The loud, wet sounds of his hips pistoning into you were obscene. You angrily bit him, his shoulders, his chest, his jaw and he went even harder, your back hitting the wall behind you, and you pulled his hair, sweat starting to form all over your body.
âFuck, Charles!â Your moans got even louder, and Charles stuck two fingers into your mouth, muffling your sounds as he fucked you.
He was hitting the perfect spot inside you, and it was enough for you to know you would come that way. You slapped his cheek, taking out some of your anger and he groaned, going harder. He pulled his fingers from your mouth and held your neck, pressing your torso against the wall and choking you a little bit.
âI canât hold much longerâ he warned you between gritted teeth, relentlessly fucking you.
You pinched your own nipples and it didnât take long for you to come, your cunt clenching so hard around him, it was enough to send him over the edge too.
Shaking, the two of you slid to the floor, breathlessly lying down, half naked and sweaty.
None of you said a word.
When he was ready to go again, he put you on your knees, your torso against the mattress, and he pounded into your cunt mercilessly from behind.
The third and last time was lazy, slow missionary and he held your wrists above your head with one hand, pressed your clit with the other, sucked a few hickeys around your tits and his cock pressed over and over your g-spot.
When you woke up the next morning, Charles was still asleep by your side. You went into the bathroom and showered, hoping he would catch the hint and leave. But as you came out showered and dressed, he was still out cold. So you quietly packed your bag and left for the airport.

You spent Christmas with your mom, sharing a lot of presents and watching a bunch of stupid Christmas movies. New Yearâs was now a tradition to spend with the Raikkonen Family, joined with the closest friends for a little get together. It was a good opportunity to reconnect with Kimiâs kids who missed you a lot during the season.
Charles never contacted you during winter break, which you were sure was the best after that mistake. You hated each other too much and the only thing that could come out of that was toxicity from the both of you. You refused to even acknowledge what had happened and its implications, that wouldnât and couldnât mean anything.
During the pre-season testing in Bahrain, you and Charles were back to whatever your relationship was before that one lapse in judgment months before.
Nobody noticed anything.
One day, Fernando pulled you aside for a little chat. You two sat side by side on big moving boxes, sipping on energy drinks.
âThereâs something I have been wanting to talk to you about since last year,â he started, seemingly pensive, distant.
âIs everything ok?â
âYeah, yeah. Remember after we first met when you asked me if I had advice for you regarding your career?â Fernando said, and you remembered.
Right after you had gotten close, you asked him for advice, you always did, especially about racing. But one day, you were chatting about his career, and you asked if had any lessons you should never forget. He had laughed joking about read all your contracts then asking if you were calling him old, but he said if he ever had any advice, he would tell you.
âYes, have you got my answer yet?â
âSĂ, Nena,â he paused, looking deep into your eyes, âenjoy.â
You frowned and he saw the confusion on your face.
âI see much of my younger self in you, you know? The same passion, this fiery desire to win, your goal for the championship, to conquer the worldâŚâ Fernando paused, looking up to the clear sky, the sunset coming around, âAnd I did. But I wish I had enjoyed it more. I shouldâve gone to parties, I shouldâve visited the countries we went to and tried the food, I shouldâve made more friends, I shouldâve had more lovers⌠I was so focused on winning, on getting my hands on that trophy of champion of the world, that I missed out on a lot.â
You felt your eyes tear up, and you wiped it before the tears came down. Putting your hand on his shoulder, you smiled at him.
âItâs such an honor race with you. And an even greater honor to have you as a friend, Nanoâ you whispered to him, you two laughed as his eyes watered too, and slapping his shoulder you laughed, âdonât make me cry, you old softie!â
You took his advice to your heart.
You went to the parties, you met new people, and thatâs how after two entire seasons, you managed to befriend Lando, your teammate. You two had to open your hearts a little bit and meet in the middle. Which proved to be great, the whole team loved the change in your dynamic. You still werenât besties, but you were close colleagues, and that was great. Everyone noticed the change and it reflected on how you started racing as a team instead of individually.
The car was even better than the year before, and the first race of the season you got a promising win.
That win, Landoâs pestering, and Fernandoâs advice was how you ended up in a party after the Bahrain GP. Wearing a skimpy mini dress and 5 tequila shots deep, swaying your hips to the sound of Rihanna. You were dancing and singing with Lando and a few of his friends, loudly screaming the lyrics.
When it was way too hot for you, you grabbed a water bottle and beelined your way out of the crowded dance floor. You found a corner of the VIP section where the AC seemed to be working better, and as you stumbled inside the small space, you ran chest first into someone.
âSorry,â you said, taking a step back and pressing your back against the cold wall.
âEnjoying your win?â Your head snapped up as you recognised Maxâs voice. You had run into him.
Lando had mentioned inviting Max to the party, he had gotten a P2 in the race but you doubted he would go to a party he knew you would attend. You were obviously wrong.
âYou know I am,â the victory was so good that nothing could ruin your mood.
âWell, then enjoy it. Iâm coming for the win, again.â He warned you but his voice was devoid of anything, just sounded like he was casually telling you about the weather. But you knew that he was implying his championship the year before, rubbing it in your face.
âDonât be so confident, Max,â you finished your water, smirking at him, âEnjoy the view of my rear!â
You flipped your hair, feeling his eyes on you the whole walk back to the dance floor.
And yet-
Somehow-
You ended up back at that small corner, dancing with your body pressed between Verstappenâs and the wall, his hand holding your jaw firmly, you rolled your hips against him, feeling the way his body responded to yours.
âWe canât-â he said to you, still, his eyes hadnât left your lips, like he was so oh so tempted.
You rolled your eyes, annoyed. Sober you would never do that, but then, that was a problem for later. Checking to see if anyone was looking at you, you hooked a finger around his waistband and pulled him towards the bathroom.
As soon as the two of you were inside, you locked the door and Max pressed your back against the door, latching his lips to yours in a very desperate open mouthed kiss. You hugged his shoulders, opening your lips to him, his hands went down your sides and he grabbed your ass, pulling you into him. But that wasnât enough, so he held your thighs and pulled up, carrying you. You locked your legs around his waist, and he stopped the kiss to walk, sitting you on the marble side of the sink, still between your legs, forcing his bulge against your panties, and eliciting a moan from you.
He took a half step back to hike your dress up, palming your cunt over your panties feeling the dampness of it, he tried to press his hand under your panties, but the lacy fabric didnât leave much space, so he simply tore the bottom of them, exposing you to him. He just ran a finger over your slit, collecting your wetness for a brief moment before pushing a finger into you. Max watched your face with concentration, studying your bodyâs responses. Your hips shaking at the movement of his finger, and when the second one joined, you got louder. He curled his fingers up, his thumb pressing your clit, and you had to use both hands to hold onto him, your head lolling back against the mirror.
âTake it and shut the fuck up,â he grunted between clenched teeth.
He was pressing your insides so good, the slick sound of his fingers going in and out, his heavy breathing, the loud music outside and his laser focused fingers had you coming against his fingers in minutes. When he noticed you close, cunt spasming against his fingers, he pressed the other hand against your mouth, covering your moans when your toes curled and you orgasmed on his hand.
Max barely let you recover as he opened his jeans and stroked himself twice before pushing his cock into you in one swift move, making you gasp at the sudden intrusion.
âThatâs what you wanted, right? Fucking teasing me all night,â He pushed particularly hard, hitting your g-spot, making you see stars, âyouâre a fucking menace, yâknow that? Fucking insufferable,â then his words became a mumbling of something dutch you couldnât quite catch anymore with the way his hips snapped against yours, taking all your focus away and turning you into a mess of moaning.
Max fucked like he raced, focused and relentless, brutal. He hugged you with one arm around your waist to keep you in place and the other held you face, tilting your head so he could kiss you, or whatever that mess of saliva, tongues and teeth was. Your orgasm crashed through you unexpectedly, and you only hugged him tighter, pressing your face against his chest, biting into his skin through the fabric of his T-shirt to silence yourself, your teeth sinking into him was enough to send him also over the edge, coming with moans against your ear.
That night, you went home with shaking legs and an incoming headache, as Max left with the scraps of your panties in his pocket and your lipstick stain on his shirt, above his chest.
It was the seventh race of the year, Monaco, and you absolutely hated that specific track since your years of F2. During your two first years in F1 you had awful experiences, the rookie year you DNF and the year prior you had barely managed a P7. You were trying to keep your head up, be hopeful that you could at least try for top 5.
But since you couldnât catch a fucking break, an old video of your teenage years resurfaced.
You were walking to your first round of interviews when Amanda, your PR manager, started walking by your side.
âThereâs something. An old video of a karting competition resurfaced, where Max and Charles pretty much call you stupid,â Amanda was always direct, you could give it to her.
âLet me see the videoâ you asked, offering your hand for her phone.
âWe donât have time, but everyone will ask you about it. I need you to be the bigger person and act like it isnât important, yes? They will try to taunt you and get a bad reaction from you, I need you to dismiss everything they throw at you. Agreed?â
You sighed. You knew the stuff from your teens were pretty bad, you rarely badmouthed Max or Charles, but they always felt threatened by you, so there were lots of instances they attacked you. Honestly, you just didnât want to come out of this victimized. So as you entered the first round of interviews, you decided you were going to downplay anything they asked you.
âY/N, have you seen the footage of you, Max and Charles from your teenage years that resurfaced recently?â
âNo, uh, I havenât.â
Someone pushed an iPad in your hands because of course, they wanted a live reaction from you. You pressed play, reading the subtitles someone put on the video. It was an amateur recording like a post race interview made by another teenage guy. First as Max walked out of the track, the guy asked what he thought of your win.
âIt was luck, sheâs not bright enough to think of a strategy,â Max said, walking away, clearly pissed having lost to you.
There was a cut and the camera was turned on again when Charles walked toward the guy asking the question. He repeated exactly the same question he had asked Max.
âY/N, I donât worry about her long term. Sheâs not going very far in this sport anyway,â Charles shrugged, seemingly unbothered.
As the video cut again, it showed your face, you remembered when that was. You were 14, and your dad had dropped you a few months earlier, so you were working your ass off balancing school, work and karting.
âHey, Y/N. What do you think of your result today?â
âUh, I tried a new strategy I learned earlier this week, thankfully it worked in my favor,â teen-You dried your forehead with your coatâs sleeve.
âWhat are your plans for this competition?â
âWell, I hope to be good enough to get into F4 next year, and work my way up into Formula 1,â you smiled softly and walked away after a quick bye.
The video ended and you still spent a few seconds staring at the black screen of the iPad. This interview didnât come to your mind in more than a decade, but it was nice seeing how you made your 14-year-old dream come true.
âSo, what do you say?â The reporter extended his mic to you.
âI guess I proved them wrong, right?â You giggled a little, âdonât take it to heart, really. We were all hormonal teenagers, Iâm sure if someone digs, they will find a video of me saying the same stuff about them,â you shrugged, despite that being a lie, sounded dismissive enough.
âSo it doesnât upset you?â The reporter insisted, and you knew he wanted a scandal you werenât willing to give.
âOf course not. Iâve always known my worth, and Iâm P1 in the driverâs championship as of right now. So I donât really care.â
The interviewers soon let the video go, when they realized you didnât care about it. You werenât sure if anyone would also approach Charles or Max with questions about the same video, but you couldnât care less, you wanted to avoid drama for the time being so you could focus on the championship instead of this bullshit.
On the morning of qualifying, you were in your room, trying to meditate and clear your mind, when a knock interrupted you.
âGuys, I asked for twenty minutes so I could-â you stop yourself when you realize it isnât anyone from your team, but itâs Max and Charles, âwhat are you doing here?â
âWe came to apologize about the video,â Max started.
âDid your PR teams send you here?â You looked around, trying to catch a camera or even a phone recording.
âNo uh, we realized we were very immature with you, and this video is just proof of how silly that was,â Charles sighed, seemingly embarrassed.
âYou donât need to apologize, I mean- the two of you really had it out for me, you called me dumb a lot,â you pointed to Max, then Charles, âand you called me ugly countless times. I donât know why it would make any difference now.â
You were just so used to being defensive, to protect yourself from hatred you found it hard to believe them, to give them a chance to apologize because you couldnât believe it to be genuine.
âEven if you donât take it, or believe it, I would like to apologize for that behavior. I was just a stupid kid.â Max looked deep into your eyes, which couldâve made you uncomfortable if he didnât seem so honest.
âIâm really sorry, Y/N. It was too idiotic to be like that to you, growing up. You were just a kid too.â Charles added.
You understood where that apology came from, it was stupid and embarrassing for all three of you this teenage rivalry when you all were barely mid racers back in the day. Sighing, you looked around, dropping your façade for a second, allowing yourself to display the same honesty they showed you.
It was hard and required some sort of deprogramming because you could only see them as rivals, like your dad had whispered in your brain so many times before, like their actions towards you had cemented dadâs words. They had said things that were on your mind for so long, that had made you defensive and deflective.
âLook, donât worry about it. Whatever happened back then, itâs water under the bridge,â You shifted on your feet. As they started walking away, you added âthis doesnât mean weâre friends.â
They only nodded before leaving. Your routine went back to the same, and as the next scandal went on, people forgot about the silly video, but a very specific part of the fans started shipping you and both your rivals.
The rivalry never died down though.
Then, out of nowhere, Sebastian pulled you and Lewis aside to a conversation. Then he told you that he was going to retire by the end of the season. It was the first time the two of them saw you cry, and Sebastian hugged you tight, shushing your crying softly.
âIâm so sorry, Iâm sorry,â he whispered, petting your head.
âNo, donât apologize,â you let him go, drying your face, âI have listened to you talking countless times about how you missed the kids. Donât apologize for choosing to be a great dad. I know Hanna and the kiddos will be ecstatic.â
âYou two are my closest friends here, thatâs why I wanted to tell you first, before my announcement.â
âThank you, Seb,â you said, eyes still watering, âIâm going to miss having you around.â
âThank you for telling us beforehand,â Lewis said, also visibly emotional.
The season was writing itself to be just as close as the year prior, but now you were slightly better at keeping the lead most.
That is until Zandvoort. This GP was always a nightmare to you, because it was full of Maxâs fans, and they absolutely hated you for being his rival. You had been booed when you were on the podium the year before, so now, you and Amanda decided it was best to keep your head down during the whole week. Not out of shame, but more of a matter of safety, you didnât know how far the crowd could go in antagonizing you. When you were booed the other year, Max had said it was part of the sport and dismissed the conversation.
The morning of free practice, you went into the paddock very low-key and kept to yourself. You arrived with a little cup of coffee and got mentally ready for a hostile environment the whole weekend. That, until you spotted a small group of people dressed with your color and wearing your number, waving wildly to you.
In a spur of the moment decision, you went there, getting close to the barrier to sign a few caps and take a few selfies. In retrospect, you knew you shouldnât have done that, especially with only two bodyguards accompanying you.
You were finishing chatting with your fans when you felt something heavy hit the side of your head and the impact made you stumble backwards, you were confused as you heard the screams and felt one of the bodyguards pull you back, as the other jumped the barrier and started running. You patted your temple and something wet and sticky was dripping down the side of your face. You stared at the small group of fans who were looking at you horrified. Staring at the hand, you saw the red staining your fingers, and as the bodyguard kept pulling you away to somewhere safer, the thing flowed even more and got into your left eye.
You wondered if it was blood as you touched your temple but felt nothing, not a gash nor small cut. You covered your left eye as it started to sting from what you supposed smelt like paint.
âHey, hey, what happened? Youâre bleeding!â Max jogged up to you.
âNot blood, just paintâ you muttered, trying to use your coat to clean your face.
âSomeone threw a paint ball at her,â the bodyguard said.
âFuck, itâs burning!â You exclaimed, feeling tears in your left eye.
âCome here, the RB hospitality is close,â Max said, holding your wrist, he stopped shortly pointing to your bodyguard, âand you, sort this and find the person who did it.â
You let yourself be taken by Max into the RB territory, the burning so annoying that you rather take whatever solution he was thinking of. He held your waist and placed you sitting on a sink, and then you felt water streaming down your face.
âStay still,â Max commanded, holding a hose over your head, pouring water down your face, ânow blink slowly, let the water wash it,â his voice soft as you did what he told you to. Slowly but surely, it washed the paint away, relieving your left eye from the stinging. Max held the hose up and held your chin, tilting your head up so he could check your eye, still letting the water stream down your face.
You took a few minutes, breathing and regulating your heartbeat from that scare, trying to come back to normal and understand fully what was going on. From what you gathered, you were chatting with fans when someone else came and threw something with paint at you.
âHow does it feel?âÂ
âItâs better, already stopped burning,â you told him, feeling your heart miss a beat at the close proximity you found yourself to him. You were sitting on a sink, Max standing between your legs pretty much like you two had done months before for entirely different reasons.
âOpen your eye, let me see,â he asked, and you tried to blink it open, âcan you see?â
âItâs a little blurry but I believe it will get better,â you explained, and he didnât let go of your chin. Suddenly, he covered your right eye with the other hand, leaving you only with your left eye sight.
âHow many fingers am I putting up?â He showed it to your left eye. The vision was a bit blurry but you still could make out the shapes very clearly.
âFour, Max. Itâs just a little bit blurry, probably will get better in a few minutesâ you sounded annoyed, you tried to move but he pressed a hand against your waist, keeping you in place.
âNow, what happened?â He asked finally. You ignored the proximity, and the hand still on your body.
âWeâre in Zandvoort, thatâs what happened,â you shrugged, really annoyed about it.
âWhat do you mean?â He was visibly confused. You scoffed because you knew it wasnât something he didnât know, since the year before he has dismissed the importance of how hostile people were to you.
âWeâre massively surrounded by your fans, Max.â
âI donât understand.â
âThey hate me because you hate me, and they think because you hate me theyâre justified in their hostility towards me,â You explained, with a sigh, you pushed away from Max, âthis GP has been like this for me ever since Rookie year.â
âI donât hate you,â he said, brows furrowed.
âYou do. And they do too,â you pointed down at the paint that had also stained your shirt as proof.
âI donât,â he insisted and you rolled your eyes, jumping off the sink, but he didnât give you space, which made you stand chest to chest with him, âI promise.â
You stared at him, breathless. That wasnât part of the game you played, being kind, sounding worried and making promises. None of that was part of this whole rivalry. Pushing his chest, you tried getting away but he caged you against the sink, body flush against yours.
âDo you believe me?â He asked and your eyes fell to his lips, and you allowed yourself to remember the desperate and chaotic kisses you had shared in a dimly lit bathroom, âI donât support any of this behavior.â
You heard voices and steps approaching, which made you finally push him away, walking towards the door. Whatever little magic had been happening between those walls was undone the moment you remembered none of that wouldâve happened if he had politely put a stop to it earlier.
âItâs part of the sport and I have to deal with it, right?â You returned the very same words he had said about you when you were booed by the crowd the year prior.
As you opened the door, you were faced with Sebastian. He stopped, taking you in and then pulling you in a hug.
âAre you ok? We just heard what happened!â He murmured, guiding you out of the bathroom. He held your shoulders and looked at your face, checking how your left eye was still a little red, âwe should take you to see a doctor, come on.â
Lewis soon arrived at the entrance of the RBR station, he warned about the reporters crowding outside, waiting for a glimpse of you after the attack. The British man gave you a Mercedes coat so you put it over your head and avoid the cameras waiting outside. With the bodyguards and both Lewis and Sebastian leading you away, you ended up at the medical center, and after a quick examination, the doctor gave you eye drops to put throughout the day.
Your Principal suggested you sit the FP1 out, letting the reserve driver take your place while you recovered. By the middle of FP1, your eyesight was 100% and you went to get ready for FP2. The whole day you felt like everyone was being extra careful, tiptoeing around you. You hated feeling like you were being pitied, so when the inevitable round of interviews came, you knew what you had to do.
âWe heard about your incident earlier today, how are you feeling about it?â Someone asked.
âIâm pretty upset, to be honest. Formula 1 is a sport loved around the whole world, and the paddock overall is supposed to be a safe place not only for the fans, but also the workers and drivers. What happened today is unacceptable and couldâve been much worse. Iâm voicing my dissatisfaction and I intend to, through legal means, take this complaint to the FIA.â
Later that night, as you laid awake on your bed, scrolling through the repercussions of the day, you stopped when you saw a snippet of Max's interview.
âWhat happened today was dangerous and unacceptable, I donât support this behavior and I stand with Y/N,â that was all he said, but Max usually was a man of few words, always knowing when it was enough.
You knew he shouldâve voiced that much earlier in your career, specifically after the booing the year before, but still- He also could have opted to not say anything at all, and he didnât.
Amanda also sent you the news that the fan who had attacked you was found and banned for life from Formula 1.
After calling Sebastian, you managed to get ahold of Maxâs phone number and texted him a simple message.
Thank you. Twice. - Lioness
The text went to read almost immediately, and the three dots appeared from his side of the screen. You wait, and wait, and wait. And then the dots disappeared, and an answer never came.
After a solid P2 that weekend in Zandvoort, you went home for the summer break. You and your mom had planned to go to Monaco for a little while since you were planning on buying a place there. From there, you and your mom would go all around the French Riviera to enjoy the sea and spend a few days in a spa resort. Then, you would go back home and relax before going to Ibiza for a weekend to meet Lando and his friends to enjoy some partying.
Everything went according to plan, but one day when you came back home after the trip to the French Riviera, you found your mom passed out on the living room floor.
You called an ambulance, quickly taking her into the hospital. Everything was a blur, the tests and scans, your mom still unconscious on a hospital bed, and the results. The results that pulled the floor from under your feet.
Your brain couldnât fully compute what was said. Cancer Stage 4. Surgery. Palliative care.
The world was muted around you as you sat on a chair in the waiting room, hands shaking when you tried to understand what was happening. You somehow ended up calling the one other person you trust.
âY/N? What happened?â
âI donât understand- she just- she just passed out and I thought- but- but they said- palliative careâ you try to come up with words.
âTalk to me. Are you sick?â Kimiâs voice is so focused and a little soothing.
âItâs momâ
âSend your location, Iâm going there,â thatâs all he said.
Waiting for Kimi gave you some sense of purpose, because itâs Kimi. He could fix anything. He fixed your life when you were 14, he can do it again. He would get there and find a way to help. Your mind got so clouded when the word cancer was thrown in the conversation, that you probably missed the part about treatments and- and surgery and stuff.
In your motherâs room there was a comfortable couch where you tried to settle to sleep, but you only spent countless hours awake. You hoped to see the doctor again to try and get him to explain everything for a second time.
You wished you were smart and quick, but no, you just sat there holding onto the hope that Kimi had a way to fix this.
Kimi arrived early the next morning, knocking on the door before entering. You stood up, hugging him tight.
âWhat happened?â
âItâs pancreatic cancer, they said. We need to see more about surgery and- and treatments.â
You and Kimi found the doctor, who explained again, and in that moment you finally understood what he meant the first time around. She was in a late stage of pancreatic cancer, which was usually a very difficult illness to find before it is too late, due to the placement of the organ in the body and late symptoms. The only options were either to try a very risky surgery and chemo so she could extend her life for around 8 months to a year. Or she could go home to live her last few months the way she wanted.
You begged and cried and bribed and offered every single solution your brain could muster to try and save her. Kimi held you when you fell to the floor, sobbing.
When your mom woke up and you and Kimi told her the diagnosis, she cried too, sobbing in your arms as you tried to hold it together for her sake. It took a couple of days for her to choose to go home. The two of you spent the last days of summer break traveling around the world a bit more, visiting temples and statues, and seeing nature and everything good the world had to offer, going to places motorsport hadnât taken you to.
Your mom went to every race week from there on, even when she felt especially weak, even when you had to hire a full time medical team for her.Â
Your focus on the season was solely on the moment between entering the car and leaving the car. You still managed to race like youâve done before, calm and controlled, with the help of your engineers and team, you still could put the car where you wanted it, paving your way for a solid world championship that year. It was like your brain was seeing racing as the one thing in your life you had full control over, so sometimes you even felt like you and the car were one.
You didnât tell anyone about her. Though every driver noticed how distant you were, even Charles and Max and the ones that werenât very close to you noticed how you were only fulfilling your obligations and leaving, you werenât even celebrating your wins, leaving the fastest you could after a race.
The Singapore GP was tough for you, having to leave your mom home alone with the medical staff and a couple of friends from her book club, since she wasnât strong enough to travel anymore. Your attention was failing all throughout media day and free practices. Qualifying was shit compared to your performance the rest of the season.
In Q3 you did a reasonable sector 1 and 2 but you messed up sector 3 completely. It was a complete accident when you got in the way of a Ferrari when he was doing his fast lap, and you ended up messing his qualy too. Jace let you know it was none other than Charles Leclerc, who was setting the pace for a pole position. Out of 19 drivers, you had to ruin his lap. In the end, Max got pole, Charles qualified P3 and you qualified P5.
You went through the motions during the post qualifying press. You were about to leave after debriefing, when Charles Leclerc found you on the way to the parking lot. You pulled your coat tighter around yourself protectively as he walked up to you. You were hoping to escape his fury at least until after the race the next day. Before he could even get a word in, you started.
âLook, I know I messed up your pole. I know you wonât believe me, but it wasnât intentional. I really thought there was no one doing fast laps on the track, I thought everyone was either still doing out laps or in the pits, so when you-â
âCalm down, breathe,â he interrupted you, âIâm not here to fight.â
âNo?â You frowned, confused with the kindness in his eyes.
âWe know youâre going through something, and Iâm sure Iâm the last person you want to hear this from, but youâre not alone. And you should really consider talking with someone on the grid. Theyâre all- weâre all worried about you.â
The words felt alien coming from his mouth, but the gentleness was so comforting you felt a lump in your throat.
âWhy do you think Iâm not ok?â You muttered trying to sound confident, but your voice failed, betraying you.
âYouâre skinny and you look sleep deprived for a few weeks now,â Charles said directly.
âDamn, thanks.â
âI donât mean it like that, you know it,â he paused, putting both hands on his pockets, âhave you been eating?â Your lack of response made him press further, âhave you eaten today?â
You pressed your lips together, not wanting to answer that.
âLetâs go, Iâll drive you to the hotel, weâll stop on the way to grab some food,â Charles gestured to his car, a few meters away. You stood there, shocked as he started walking away, then he stopped looking over his shoulder, âcome on, I donât have all the time in the world.â
As you sat in his Ferrari, Charles put music on and you didnât do much talking, but it was tranquil. He called the restaurant to order take out on the way, and 30 minutes later he dropped you off at the hotel with a bag full of food.
âThank you, Charles.â You whispered before leaving the car.
You ate the food while on a video call with your mom.
You recovered well during the race, finishing P2, behind Max and ahead of Charles.
Your mom passed away a few days after the Japanese Grand Prix, the one you had won and dedicated it to her from the top step of the podium, even if she wasnât there, just watching from home. You went home and stayed with her, holding her hands and hugging her as much as you could.
Some part of you knew she was somehow fighting, because she had promised you the year before she would be there when you became world champion. You could see she was hoping to make it to the end of the season, but you also knew she wouldnât, and you rather she didnât have to endure any more pain just for your sake.
âYou donât need to fight anymore, ma,â you whispered before she went to sleep, âyou raised a strong woman, too. I will see you on the other side, ok? You can rest now, I love you.â
âIâm so proud of you, honey. I love you to the moon and back.â
You made it through her small funeral, following what she had written down before passing. An intimate funeral, full of flowers and a toast to her life. You cried the whole time, with Kimi and Minttu taking turns at comforting you as they could. Coming back to an empty home smelling of cleaning products made you almost lose your mind, and the sight of you in such despair was enough for Kimi to convince you to stay with them until you had to travel for the next race, in almost seven days.
The days passed in a crying blur, you let part of your team know about your momâs passing. Only Amanda, Jace and your Principal. Jace tried to convince you to take a break and not go to the next race in Mexico, but you quickly shut it off. Not only because racing was the one thing keeping you sane amidst the chaos, but because you were so close to the championship, and it was still close competition with Max and Charles, so you couldnât afford to lose a race and the points that could come with it.
You had to honor your mom in some way.
Thatâs how you ended up on a plane to Austin with Kimi and Amanda. You knew Kimi had convinced you to let him go because he was sure youâd have a mental breakdown anytime along the weekend, but deep down you appreciated the company. Arriving there, Jace was the first to hug you and whisper his condolences, as well as your TP too.
You survived the entire weekend without breaking down crying in public, but that was your worst race in a few months, the first time out of a podium since Spa. You ended up P5, which luckily wasnât too bad because Max finished P4 which you were grateful for as he was the one who was P2 in the driverâs championship close behind you.
After that week, you packed your stuff and moved to the new condo in Monaco you had bought during summer break. Despite loving your mom to pieces, you couldnât manage to live alone in the house you bought for her a couple of years before, it was lonely and it hit you with overwhelming waves of sadness all the time. You distracted yourself a lot with buying furniture and decorations for the new place, and discovering Monte Carlo in a whole new way. The one comfort in all that, was knowing your mom wasnât suffering anymore.
Then you went straight to Mexico for the next Grand Prix, this time, Kimi left you because he had to come home to Minttu and the kids. Amanda had been such a support for you, that you knew you had to give her something special for the holidays, out of gratitude.
Everything was going as expected until the press conference. You were there with Charles, Max, Sebastian and Lando. You suspected they were putting you always in the same group as Max and Charles because, as the season nearing the end, only three races left, they were your close competition.
While someone asked something of Charles, you were whispering with Sebastian, chatting about Mexican foods you wanted to try after the race. Then, something bizarre happened, and phones started to ping all around the room, between reporters, cameras and everyone else started checking their phones. It seemed like something out of a black mirror nightmare.
You reached for your phone but then remembered you left it to charge in your room.
âThis question is for Y/N,â a reporter asked, reading something from his phone, âthereâs a new article that just came out saying your mom passed away a couple of weeks ago, is that true?â
Your blood ran cold, and every sound felt like it was muted inside the room. Wide eyed, you searched for Amanda, who was somewhere on the opposite side of the room, and when you found her, she was pale. Then, there was a cacophony of voices and cameras and questions, that made you suddenly overwhelmed.
Swallowing, trying to reassess, you found Sebastian already standing, holding your shoulders. Looking around you noticed how the other three drivers had stood up, making some sort of shield around you, protecting you from the cameras and reporters swarming around.Â
âWe can go, ok? Come on,â Sebastian was saying when Amanda caught up to you, leaning beside Sebastian.
âWe can leave, right now,â she said, holding your hand.
Still a little confused, you nodded and let them both guide you back to your room.
âIâm so sorry, Iâm so sorry for your loss,â Sebastian hugged you, running his hands on your back for comfort.
âHow- how did they find out?â You ask Amanda.
âAn article came out, Iâm not sure. Someone was probably digging into your life, but donât worry, I put the team on it already.â
âHow do- how we diffuse this? How do we proceed? We need to address this, right?â You started blabbering, trying to wrap your head around everything.
âThat was very disrespectful of them to ask like that!â Sebastian exclaimed, making you two jolt.
âWeâll do whatever youâre comfortable with. Do you want me to release a note asking for privacy?â Amanda suggested.
âCan I write something and then run it by you?â You asked, she only nodded.
After a moment, both Amanda and Seb left you alone as you typed a note on your phone. You rewrote and deleted a few times before settling on something heartfelt and respectful but also, calling out the invasion of privacy.
My mom passed away a few days ago after battling with cancer for the past few months.
She had requested of me to keep it a secret until after the season was over, so I could mourn her without the weight of racing over my shoulders.Â
But obviously someone went digging and disrespected not only one of her last wishes but also disrespected my grief and my right to privacy. I love my mom but Iâll not be answering any more questions about her illness or death, please respect me and respect her memory.
All the love, Y/N
Nobody asked anything over the weekend, but again, it felt like everyone was tiptoeing around you. As soon as you first saw Nano the next day, he held you tight for almost a minute whispering his condolences, and it made you almost cry again. Lewis also spared you a hug, saying if you ever needed anything, to contact him.
You survived that weekend, and decided to go straight to Brazil for the next GP instead of going back to Monaco. In SĂŁo Paulo you mostly slept your worries and fears away. You had promised yourself to try and focus on the season only, to make your dream come true, to fulfill your momâs promise in some way.
With Ferrariâs bad strategy in Mexico, they had ruined Charlesâ chance at the championship. Now your only competition was Max and the Red Bull rocketship.
You rewatched the race a couple of times as you usually did, to try and catch any mistakes you or your team may have made, to fix it for the next one. But also to try and notice any weaknesses of your rivals, if it was something you could use in your own favor.
You noticed right away in the FP1 that your car wasnât adhering to the track, you were losing balance and needed more force than usual to keep yourself in place. By FP2, you managed to control your car better, but that caused your tyres to wear off way more quickly.
Quali was one of the shittiest youâve ever done in your career, taking you out in Q2 for the first time that year, placing you for a start at P12.
âListen, weâll do better tomorrow, ok?â Jace told you as soon as you entered the garage, seeing Max still out with a shot at pole position.
âGive me a few minutes to unwind, please,â you asked, dropping your helmet, balaclava and gloves at a nearby table.
You went straight to your room, searching for your phone. Immediately calling Kimi, you waited for him to pick up.
âI watched it,â he said first and foremost.
âIf I do bad in the race tomorrow, and Max does well, then Iâm gonna lose the championship, Kimi,â saying that out loud made you shiver in horror, âFUCK!â You screamed, kicking a chair.
âFirst of all, even if you did bad tomorrow, youâd still have a chance to fight for the championship in Abu Dhabi. You know that,â Kimi warned you as if he was scolding a little kid, âsecond of all, I never taught you this loser mindset. Youâll have to find a way to work around the problems in your car tomorrow.â
âShit, Iâm so fucked! How? How could I even-â
âRemember when I first met you? Your kart was with almost this same problem, yeah? Remember you got P2? You went ahead and fixed it. Thatâs what I need you to do tomorrow, donât focus on what you canât do, only focus on what you can do.â
âIâll try my best.â
âNo trying. Do it.â
After spending the entire night crafting plan A, B, C and Z with you strategists and engineers, you barely got any sleep, but you forced yourself to rest. In the morning, you went to the track early to meet with your team again, to run your strategies one more time, when you had an idea. Youâd still follow the plans you had carefully crafted with the team, but you decided to make a Plan Star, as you had called. Interlagos didnât have any safety car in the last two years, so it was dangerous to fully count on one. But your plan star consisted in the case of a safety car in this one specific window of laps, youâd go to the pits for hards, counting on everyone else being on old softs or mediums at that specific point in the race. But for it to work, you had to be the first of the front field to go in.
As the lights went out and you accelerated, you got already three positions up, landing in P9, and luckily, the points zone. Jace was worried in your ears, talking about the car and the tyres management. With controlled calm and Kimiâs voice in your head, you managed a few more positions in the first 14 laps, landing P7. You lost a bit of time there, since Nando was P6 and everyone knew how tough it always is to overtake him. But you eventually managed to get the position. Unfortunately, it was the moment you had to go to your first pitstop. Due to the problems in your car wearing off your tyres, you would have to go for a two-stop, which ended up costing you three positions again. But you were patient and you were rewarded when the other cars had to pit, which gave you back the four places you had lost.
The race you went on and you barely moved up or down from your P5, but you managed to concentrate.
Jace, on the other hand was sounding more and more worried about your second pit stop, about the difficulty in get closer to P4, about the P6 trying to enter DRS zone behind you, with your tyres wearing off, with the-
âJace, I love you but please shut the fuck up, I know what to do,â you were praying for a miracle when suddenly, there was a yellow flag, and the safety car went out during the perfect window of laps, âfuck, Jace, this is plan star.â
âCopy,â he paused, his voice sounding secure, âBox, box.â
You changed into hards, no one else went to the pits, and the race restarted after three more laps. The safety car had closed the gap between you and the P4, which made you overtake him easily.
Jace was still keeping quiet to help your concentration, he only interrupted to warn you about overheating your tyres, and your velocity per lap compared to the next position. You started overtaking like a madwoman as much as your tyres allowed.
âThatâs P1, Lioness,â Jace told you.
âCopy that.â You said with your voice shaken.
As you managed your P1, you went back to be aware of your surroundings, seeing a Red Bull right behind you, trying to overtake but you managed to hold position.
When you took the checkered flag, you sighed with relief, Kimi was right.
âCongratulations, Y/N! Thatâs a brilliant, brilliant win!â Jaceâs voice was sounding shaken too.
âYouâre crying, Jace?â You laughed softly.
âItâs an honor to tell you that you, Y/N Y/L/N, are a Formula 1 world champion!â Jace shouts, and behind him you can hear more people screaming.
âWhat? Jace youâre fucking with me!â
âNo, Lioness, youâre the 2022 champion of the world!â
âBut- but how? Thereâs one race left? And Max was right behind me!â
âNo, Verstappen DNFed during that one yellow flag. Behind you was Perez.â
You made the calculations quickly in your head. Max was P2 in the championship, but this DNF meant no points, and even if he managed to win the last race in Abu Dhabi, he wouldnât be able to equal you in points. So-
âOH MY GOD, oh my god!â You screamed your lungs out, feeling the tears streaming down into your balaclava, âFuck yes! Iâm Formula 1 World Champion! Thank you, thank you so much guys! Jace, holy shit, Iâm the champion!â
âYouâre the champion!â Jace confirmed.
You felt joy in a way you hadnât felt in a long, long time, as you stopped your car on the number one spot. Still a little dizzy from the thrill, you left the car, going straight to your team, heavily waiting for you. They all hugged you, hitting your helmet, saying congratulations and everything. You took a moment to hug Jace and Amanda, who had been of great support throughout the year.
After getting weighted and being congratulated by the other two on the podium, Perez and Hamilton, the latter hugging you tight as he took you off the floor, you drank water as you waited for the post race interview with Nico Rosberg.
You were giddy, barely holding yourself together with how happy you were feeling, how you wanted to hold the trophy, how grateful you were and more importantly, how you felt a great weight being lifted off your shoulders.
âY/N, congratulations on becoming a World Champion! I have to say, as a girl dad, it is great to see you become the first woman ever to win this title. How do you feel? What do you want to say?â Nico offered, with a kind smile.
âTo be honest, I can barely contain myself. Itâs such an honor to be here and be the world champion. I look at the past and see my younger self who never thought would make it to Formula 1. Itâs such a dream come true, after this yearâs hardships, Iâm glad to achieve the greatest dream of them all!â You said, kinda quickly, rambling as you tried to put into words all the emotions mixed with the happiness, âIâm sorry, I know Iâm taking up all your time, I just want to dedicated this win, and this championship to three people who saved my life: Kimi, thank you for being the salvation of my career when we first met; And my mom, whoâs not here anymore, thank you for being the light in my darkest days. And lastly, I want to thank myself for working my ass off and never giving up.â
You muttered a thank you as Nico only laughed at your rambling. Before you moved to the cooldown, you grabbed the mic back again.
âMay I add one last thing?â You asked for Nico, who only nodded, pointing to the camera again, âThis is to my father: I made it, you asshole.â
You wanted to send the middle finger too, but you knew you couldnât because of the FIAâs guidelines, and you were already risking a penalty for cursing on live TV. In the cooldown room, you sat beside Lewis, watching a few highlights of the race on the screen. It showed a couple of your overtakes.
âDamn, you overtook like crazy,â Lewis muttered, seemingly amazed.
âI pulled a Lewis Hamilton in Interlagos last year,â you joked, and he laughed.
That podium felt like the culmination of everything you had worked for your whole life, felt like recovering your love for the sport for what it was, for the fast cars and the adrenaline. Being on that podium in Brazil as a World Champion shifted something inside you forever. During your anthem, you laughed, and when you got the trophy, you cried, pointing the trophy to the sunny sky with a silent prayer to your mom. You barely noticed, but you felt the champagne raining on you, and opened your arms to shower in it. Putting the trophy down, you splashed the other bottle, laughing and wetting everyone that was close to you, Lewis, Checo, Jace, who had gone up representing the team.
When the celebration ended, you stayed behind a little more, watching the crowd from the podium, and they started chanting. It took you a few seconds to realize they were chanting your name.
You raised your trophy at them, and they cheered even louder. Then you pointed it to the sky again.
âLook, ma, I made itâ you whispered to yourself, feeling the tears streaming down your face.

Pairing: Charles Leclerc x Fem!Reader
Summary: You and Charles have a few weeks to yourselves before Baku, itâs Friday and you go to pull him off of the simulator when you instead see him playing the piano.
Warnings: tooth-rotting fluff, thatâs about it also I know nothing about the wonderful ways of playing a piano so any information I add I found off of Google :)
A/N: Also Charles posting his music on Spotify, DUDE I AM IN LOVE AND I AM NOT MAD ABOUT IT

You covered the pot of pasta youâd prepared for yourself and Charles, hoping it wouldnât get too cold by the time you were able to pull your boyfriend off of the simulator.
Heâd been focused on that thing for nearly two hours now, while you knew better than to interrupt him, you also knew the importance of having a break from the screen and breaking a cycle of lap after lap after lap.
You called out his name but when you heard no response, you set the two empty plates on the counter above some napkins and took it upon yourself to locate him in the apartment.
When you pushed open the door to the room heâd set up his simulator and all of his equipment, your eyebrows hitched together when it was empty of a living human.
âCharles?â You repeated, shutting the door behind you. You checked the bedroom, knocked on the bathroom door, even checked the dining room again in case he was waiting for you in there but he wasnât anywhere to be seen.
His car was still parked outside so you knew he couldnât have left, so abruptly too.
Your head cocked to the left when you swore you heard a faint melody playing from somewhere in the apartment, following the sweet tunes of the piano, you twisted the doorknob to the room beneath the stairs, only creaking the door open slightly to get a peek.
The setting sunlight beamed generously through the large window, overlooking the landscape of Monaco, the piano was pushed up against the wall and the bench was pulled out.
The Monegasque however, gently pressed on the keys from either ends of the piano, generating a euphonious rhythm that you could only lose yourself in. It was a rhythm of sorts that youâd hear in a movie or in the title sequence to a music video.
You sighed, feeling a familiar softness settle into the pit of your stomach as you watched his back muscles move in unison to his fingers, his neck turning ever so slightly to have an idea of what key he wanted to press next.
You stepped into the room, trying to be as careful as you could so your boyfriend wouldnât get startled.
When he was only a few inches away, you rested the palms of your hands on his shoulders, slowly making your way around his neck and intertwining your fingers in line with his collarbone.
His body tensed in response to your cold fingertips but they eased soon after, a grin already finding its way on to his pink lips. Charlesâ movements on the piano halted and he turned his head to the side, his hands grasping your wrists gently.
âDonât stop âcause of me.â He hummed, âcome on. Sit down.â Your eyebrows furrowed and you hesitated in doing so but unlocked your fingers, he shuffled down on the bench and you sat besides him.
âDo I get to watch you play, Mr Leclerc?â He smiled this time, turning his head to meet your eyes and squinted, knowing that a boyish comment was ready to fall from his lips.
âYou have to pay first, mon cĹur.â You scoffed, âpay? I usually get private viewings for free.â You dropped a not so subtle hint, but you knew Charles understood with the subtle rosy tint that was building up on his cheeks.
âYou tease me too much.â The F1 driver smiled. You shrugged, dropping your head on to your boyfriendâs shoulder and fiddled with the string that was poking out freely from his sweatpants.
âYes, I tease you too much and I pay you too little.â You continued.
âExactly.â You chuckled, pressing a kiss to his skin when Charles reached for your hand and placed it on to the piano.
âIâm hopeless at this stuff.â You picked your head up as your boyfriend positioned his fingers on to the keys on his side.
âSo was I, mon amour.â
He instructed you to delicately hold down the keys he pointed out in his notebook while he fiddled with his own. You did exactly that though it took you a while to find the right balance and get the timing right.
After a few trial runs, you pressed the first set of keys and held them for a few seconds before moving your fingers down to the next two, Charles was playing effortlessly besides you but never failed to send you a wink when you praised his or your own efforts with a gleaming smile.
âSee? Youâre a natural.â Your boyfriend complimented when he closed out the piece and you plopped your hand back into your lap.
âYeah, soon enough Iâll be asking you to pay me for private viewings.â You poked fun at him and he bumped your shoulder with his, shaking his head with a grin.

THE INVESTIGATION
Summery: They should have seen it coming⌠Ferrari was going to conduct an internal investigation about some of the races, even though the championship wasnât even over yet. (This is pure fiction and it probably wonât be accurate, not even a little bit. I am no expert, everything is made up).
Warnings: this is not proofread. Poor English, not even a little bit of accuracy, not very Mattia Binotto friendly
Pairing: Charles Leclerc x reader
The age of the reader is not specified but in my head she just a little bit older than Charles, like 27-30 years old but thatâs just in my head
You were standing there, just staring at the building, trying to breath: you knew that as soon as you were to enter the building you couldnât be your usual self, you were going to be what was asked of you and most importantly what was needed of you.
You already knew what most of the people inside that building were going to think of you, what they were going to call you, you already knew because it was always the same: they were going to think you were a bitch, the mean lady- or pretentious little girl as some liked to call you for your young age- that was going to ruin their life. As if you were happy when your presence ended in people getting fired.
The building was towering over you in a scaring way, even scarier was thinking what your presence here meant. If you could have chosen you wouldnât be here, your job wasnât going to be pretty but you knew someone had to do it and who better than you.
âYouâre not gonna believe this, but somehow the press knows alreadyâ- James, your assistant, said interrupting your thoughts
You kept your eyes on the building in front of you but hummed so he knew you had heard him

âBut you already knew thatâ- he was looking at you with knowing eyes
âI didâ- you said still looking at the building
âYou were the one leaking the news, werenât you?â- he asked, even if he already knew the answer to that
âYes, it was meâ
âWhy? Weâre gonna lose the element of surpriseâ- James not always understood your moves, you knew that, as you knew he wasnât asking to undermine your decision but to understand it better
âWe donât need to surprise them, we need to put some pressure on themâ- you took a deep breath and started to walk, your team behind you.
The little bit of fear, you were feeling a moment before, was already gone: you were here to do a job and you were going to nail it like you always did.

(Just to be clear this GIF doesnât imply that the reader is white, itâs just the only one I found.)
The guard at the front of the building had been eyeing you and your team since you had arrived; you were sure he wasnât used to new people trying to get in the building unless a tour had been scheduled for the day, and you didnât think the man had been informed of your arrival.
You tried to wear your most reassuring smile and approached the door
âBuongiornoâ- (Good Morning) the guard mirrored your smile
âBuongiorno, scusi il disturbo. Ă possibile entrare?â- you asked (Good morning and sorry for the trouble. Can we come in?)
âMi dispiace signora, ma il complesso non è aperto per le visite oggiâ- (Iâm so sorry madame, but itâs not possible to visite the building today) you could tell the man was actually sorry for you and you sincerely smiled at him. It was always nice to meet kind people during a, what you were sure, was going to be a though day, if not weeks of work.
âLo so, sono qui per vedere il Signor Binotto, qualcosa mi dice che mi sta aspettandoâ- (I know, Iâm here to see Mr Binotto, Iâm sure heâs waiting for me by now) the man looked a little bit startled, confirming your suspension that still very few people knew what was going to happen even if you had leaked the news. Despite his surprise, the guard didnât hesitate to call the team principal
âGrazie, possiamo aspettare qui?â - you asked getting a positive nod from the man (Thank you, can we wait here?)
You and your team hadnât been waiting long that Mattia Binotto appeared in the hall
âSalveâ- he was smiling but you could see suspicious in his eyes: he couldnât be sure but he knew who you were
âHello Mr Binotto, Iâm Y/n Y/l/n. Iâm sure you have been informed of my arrivalâ- you said smiling at the man.
âYeah I was informed this morningâ
âGood, so without further ado, I would like to start today by looking at the cars and at the reports of the races you have run until now this year. Iâm gonna need to talk with some of your employees, of course I donât think Iâll be able to do all today but- â you werenât looking at the man while talking, too taken by the schedule you had made for yourself and your time on your iPad, so you hadnât seen the look Binotto was giving you, but you heard the harsh tone with which he stopped your speach
âI donât know who you think you are but you canât come here andâŚâ- you were usually a polite person and you didnât like interrupting people, but you had learned long ago that with some people if you let them squished you once they were gonna do it again and again.
You knew you and Binotto were playing a game to see who had the upper hand right now and you almost wanted to laugh at the man for thinking even for a second you were going to âbowâ to him.
âLet me stop you right there dear, I donât care what you think Mr Binotto. Iâm here to do a job and Iâm gonna do it with or without your help, but let me give you a piece of advice : when I write my final report youâre gonna want me to say that the team principal was very accommodating and provided all the help we needed during our investigation. Because at the end of this investigation, if my report is not gonna be very positive, itâs possible that some head are gonna fallâ- yeah you could be over the top sometimes, but you needed this man to understand the seriousness of the situation and you werenât sure he had yet.
âAre you threatening ing me? Do you think youâre the first person trying to come for my job?â- Binotto said
âDonât make me laugh, I donât want your job or anyone elseâs. I love my job, Iâm good at it and I love Ferrari, thatâs why I was sent here. And just to make myself clear, Iâm not threatening you not anyone else. If everyone has done his job as they should have, you have nothing to fear from me; but if something doesnât add up Iâm gonna find out, and Iâm gonna vividly recommend to fire who is not performing well and can I tell you a little secret, I have found out that usually when you cut the problem at the top , you have more chance to fix it and progress from there. Now are you gonna show me what I need or do I have to find it for myself?â
âThis way, but Iâm gonna ask for you to be the only one in the room, there are some confidential informationâ-Binotto said
âOf course me and my team are gonna be very discreet about itâ- you smiled
âYour team? Absolutely notâ
âIâm tired alreadyâ- you whispered and you could hear your team softly laughing at you- âIâm a very smart woman, but Iâm not such a know-all to think I can correctly evaluate everything without my strategist, my engineer, my mechanic and go on. â
âIf you need any information you can count on my team to help you, if something is not clear to youâ- he was still defying you, but you werenât scared a minute before and you werenât going to start now. The little fear you had once felt, disappeared as soon as you entered the building.
âYeah Iâm sure your team would be so eager to show me any possible mistakes. You can whine as much as you want, but I have full access to every inch of this establishment and everything it contain, nothing can go out until my investigation is over, just to be clear . My team has the same access as me and thatâs that. If youâre not happy about it, you can complain with your CEO since heâs the one who sent me here. Now Iâm done with waisting my time.â - you stopped looking at Binotto all together. You had tried to be nice but you werenât going to waste any more of your time- âSignor Giovanni vero?â- you said moving your attention to the guard at the front (Mister Giovanni right?)
Se le sto chiedendo troppo, non esiti a farmelo presente e le affiancheremo qualcuno per aiutarla fino a quando non toglierò il disturboâ- (Mr Giovanni, from now on and since I tell you otherwise nothing, not even a blank piece of paper, can leave or enter this building without my authorization. So Iâm gonna need you to check every purse, every backpack everything that goes out or in the building. If Iâm asking too much of you, please let me know and Iâll be sure to find someone to help you until my job here is done)- you smiled trying to be as reassuring as possible, you werenât here to make friends but you could try not to make too many enemies at least, beside Mattia Binotto of course. You could feel his eyes burning holes in your head and you almost smirked at him, you didnât necessarily want to antagonize him but man, did he need to be put in his place.
âCertamente signora, farò quello che chiedeâ- Giovanni said (of course madam, Iâll do as you ask)
I really appreciate your kindness Mr Giovanni, Iâm gonna leave you my assistantâs number, please call him if you have any questions or need any help)
You smiled once again at the man before looking at your team again
âJames please be sure to explain to Mr Giovanni what we need from him and if needed stay with him as long as necessary. Now we are gonnaâŚ-â you stopped to look at the front once again when you felt eyes on you. There at the entrance , there were none other than Carlo Sainz and Charles Leclerc, the Ferrari drivers
âHello Mr Leclerc, Mr Sainzâ- you smiled at the drivers, trying to control your inner fangirl. -âItâs so nice to meet you. Iâm Y/n Y/l/n, Iâm gonna try my best not to interfere too much with your work, the last think we want is for the drivers to lose their focus. Iâm here to make sure you have all the elements to succeed. This being said, Iâm gonna leave you to your day, Iâm sure weâll have the time to talk. Have a good dayâ- You looked one last time at the drivers: Carlos was faintly smiling, it was clear he was unsure how to behave himself but he didnât want to be rude, if you had to bet he had read the news of the investigation. Your eyes met the other driverâs eyes Charles, and you felt your heartbeat skipping a second, you could almost lose yourself in the green of his eyes.

You looked at his lips and damn it if they didnât look enticing, you really wanted to know how they felt like, you could only hope he knew how to use those sinful lips, it would be such a shame otherwise.
A smirk appeared on his face and that was enough to clear your mind and let you focus on the task at hand once again.
You took a breath and turned around, you couldnât lose your focus, even thoughâŚ. Nope, not going there.
You nodded at your team and started walking like you were the owner of the room like your mother had thought you.
âLetâs go guys , we have work to doâ- you looked at Mattia Binotto once again before leaving the room⌠it was going to be a tough job and you were pretty sure the principal had no intention of helping you.
And as though you didnât have enough problems already, you needed to make sure to have as little interaction as possible with Charles Leclerc.
Iâm just gonna dump this here and run đ
I donât know what this is really

WIN IT ALL
Summery: Youâre Christian Hornerâs daughter and the new Ferrari driver... well isnât that ironic?
Pairing: Charls Leclerc x readerÂ
Warnings: the relationship between Charles and the reader is not the focus. I dont think Iâll write more of this but if I was/will that was where I would aim. Also this story is not that Christian Horner friendly but itâs a fiction guys so NO HATE.
THIS IS NOT PROOF READ AND ENGLISH IS NOT MY FIRST LANGUAGE SO IâM SORRY IF THERE ARE ANY MISTAKES

You took a deep breath knowing it was imperative for you to stay calm. They werenât even looking at you yet but you could already feel their eyes on you, scrutinizing you, trying to find any sign of nerve, trying to uncover any weakness of yours so they could exploit it against you.
You almost wanted to turn around and run, leave the room, leave the state even, you wanted to go back to your apartment so you could hide under your comforter and never see them again, so that they could never again look at you like you were some little prey they were ready to destroy.
But you knew you couldnât, not only becasue you would prove them right, but most of all, if you decided to leave and give up, you would disappoint yourself, you would give up your dream and you had fight too much for it, you had given your all since you were a little girl and you had no intetion to quit.Â
âOnly the weaker quit Y/nâ... thatâs what your father had always told you and, even though he hadnât taught you much, that had stuck with you.
So no, you werenât going to stand up and leave the room, you werenât going to give up, you werenât going to give them the satisfaction to say that âthis wasnât a woman place after allâ. No you had always been strong and you were going to be even stronger now, stronger than their prejudice.
Sure it would be nice to look up and see proud eyes, see someone that had always believed in you but you knew no one was going to be there.
An hand on your arm brought you back from your thoughts, and even if you didnât need to look to know who it was, it was always nice to look into his eyes, they were comforting in a way you didnât think your team-mateâs eyes were going to be.
âThey are waiting for us, are you ready?â- Charles asked, smiling at you... Uhh his smile, it was even worse... ok better... than his eyes.Â
âYap. as Iâll ever beâ- you tried to smile but you knew it didnât reach your eyes.
Charles knew that you were nervous even though you didnât want to show it, it was your first conference after all, even though you had raced most of your life it was your first time in a formula one conference. Charles didnât know all your story, no one did, you didnât like to talk about it: you didnât want people to pity you and at the same time you knew that, even with your problem, you had been lucky: you had always had a plate of food in front of you, a beautiful and comfortable house, your parents had given you the best educations. They hadnât been always supportive of your choices but at the end of the day you were lucky and you knew it.
you took a deep breath and tried to prepare yourself: they were going to ask uncomfortable questions and you had promised yourself that you were going to answer to all of them without even a peep otherwise you knew they would say you didnât want to answer because you were a woman, that you were easily hurt and irritable. Your team had tried to shield you from it for as long as they could, they had put off the news that you were going to drive for them for long as possible, but now was the time.
âWelcome to next year Ferrari drivers Charles Leclerc and Y/n Horner. So weâll start with Y/n first if thatâs ok?â- the journalist said and both you and Charles nodded.
âWell first of all I think congratulation are in orderâ- the journalist said
âThank you, Iâm very honored to be here, very happy that Ferrari believed in me and decided to make me part of the teamâ- you smiledÂ
âI have to say that the news came at the very last moment, other drivers were taken into account for Carlosâ seat, why do you think Ferarri decided for you and not someone else, in the end?â- he asked and you really wanted to laugh in his face. It wasnât the question per se, it was what he wasnât openly asking but you werenât going to give him the satisfaction
âI think you should ask that question to Mattia, the team principal, but Iâll say that they decided how they and all the other teams have always done: they select their candidates and then decide which one is best for the team, which one can help the team winâ- you saw Charles smiling with the corner of your eye. he had that smirk that always made you feel hot, that smirk that said I know what you are doing⌠and he probably did: you hadnât wanted to say âThey chose me because I was the bestâ but that was the meaning of your answer and you both knew that.
âSo youâll help your team win this year?â- he asked
âThatâs the planâ- you shrugged, what a stupid question.
âSo why Ferrari? How come arenât you driving for RedBull? I mean itâs not a secret you are the daugher of Christian Hornerâ- you could see Charles was looking at you side way to make sure you were ok even though the questions were becoming more personal, but you gently nudge his foot with yours trying to convey you were ok.
âFerrari is an amazing team, itâs well know they have had some bad years but theyâve come back on top in the last year, theyâre still working on it and I can only be honored they believed in me. And frankly Iâve never been approach by RedBullâ
âwhy not? I mean wouldnât have been easier for you to drive for your fatherâs team?â- and this time you laughed for real.
âSeriously? We both know that it would have probably been harder for me, and if that had happened, now you would be asking me if I had had the spot only because I am my fatherâs daughterâ- you could see no one was expecting such honesty from you, but you didnât care
âSo this is why you werenât approached by RedBull? your father didnât want to make things more difficult for you?â- it was clear that the interviewer was like a dog with a bone and he wasnât going to stop until nothing was left
âNot at all, we all know that Christian Horner, as team principal, only care about whatâs best for the team, as he should. So if he had thought I was the best choice for the team he wouldnât have care what was going to be easier or harder for meâ- whisper were filling the room but you still hold your head high
âDoes your father think you deserve this seat in formula one?â
You could see Charles was ready to stand up for you but you stopped him once again. it was nice of him, it really was, it only proved how nice of a person he was, and that he cared about you but the last thing you needed was to show that you needed a man to protect you.
âI donât know what my father think, you should ask him that. But you know, you can always tell me if he answersâ- you smiled knowing that you hadnât fallen into the interviewer trap. You answer was diplomatic and put your father in the corner and not you. You had been honest since the beginning of the conference so they would have never guessed you had lied at the last question because you perfectly knew what your father thought .Â
When you were young and had asked your father if you could race in the go-cart he hadnât even needed to think about it and he had told you âyesâ, he had always told you were going to be a F1 driver, the first woman in F1 in years and you had seen the pride in his eyes when he had said that. He had supported you for years until he had seen that there were kid of your same age more talented than you and he was right, you knew he was. You had seen his excitement fade away year after year, until the talk about you changing path, changing your dream had started. But you had always been a stubborn person and while your fatherâs belief in you subsided, your desire to chase your dream and prove everyone wrong only had grown stronger. Since then your relationship with your father had become stranded: he still had come to most of your races, when he had time, but most of the time his eyes werenât on you but on the other kids, the more talented ones, the one he was eyeing for his team already, the one who was going to become his golden child.
You had started working harder than anyone then, just to see that look of pride on your father eyes again but it never came; and when he had decided to stop paying to help your career, you had found a job that helped you pay everything for yourself and tried your best to find your own sponsors. Your mother had helped you a little, you didnât know if she had actually believed in your dream, but what you knew for sure was that she wanted to keep the peace in the family, and in particulat between you and your father. That was why you had moved out of the house as soon as you had been 18.
Your career in F3 and F2 hadnât been the easiest, you had had your ups and downs, racing against your fatherâs future golden child for years had made things harder, but you had done it and in the end you had done it alone.
So yeah you knew what your father thought but you werenât going to give anyone more ammos against you.
you almost didnât noticed that the interview had come to an end, Charlesâs questions had been more intersting than yours but they had tried a few shot with him too.Â
âAre you ok?â- Charles asked once you were alone
âIâm fineâ- you shrugged
âThey shouldnât have asked those questions, in particulare the one about your father, it wasnât fairâ
âLife is not always fair, but it will be worst once my father answerâ- you could feel your eyes burning with tears but you tried to stay strong
âHeâs proud of you, I mean he has to be, how could he not? you are amazingâ
âHe is notâ
âY/nâ- he wanted to comfort you, you knew that but you also knew better
âBelieve me he isnât â
âWell fuck him...â- and you laghed... and laughed and for the first time since the day had started it was an honest laugh
âFUCK CHRISTIAN HORNER!â- Charles screamed making you laugh even harder
âOh my god, stop before someone hears youâ- you could see he was going to scream again just to see you laugh longer, so you covered his lips with your hand, the last thing you wanted was for Charles to get into trouble because of you.
Charles moved your hand from his lips, gently squeezing it
âi mean it fuck him and everyone else who doesnât belive you earned your place here. We are gonna prove them wrong, weâre gonna win all, ok y/n? Weâre gonna win the world constructor championship, and one of us is gonna be the world champion. We are gonna take it all ok?â Charles said, his hands still holding yours
âWe are gonna take it allâ- you smiled at him until a splash of blu came into your line of sight: your father had just entered the room. You look at him for a second, still waiting, hoping for something from him but when nothing came, you turn around and with Charles went back to Ferrari hospitality
FUCK HIM! YOU WERE GONNA WIN IT ALL

your story

The Leclerc household was buzzing with activity on a sunny Sunday afternoon. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee and the sound of dishes clinking together filled the air. It was a typical day for the Leclerc family, except for one member who stood silently in the corner of the kitchen, observing the chaos before her. That member was Y/N Leclerc, the youngest of the Leclerc siblings.
Y/N was only seventeen, still in high school, while her brothers, Charles and Arthur, had already made their mark in the world of motorsports. Charles, the middle child, had achieved great success in Formula 1, while Arthur was steadily making his way through Formula 2. Y/N, however, was never given the opportunity to pursue her dreams of becoming a race car driver. The family's financial limitations forced them to prioritize Charles and Arthur's careers.
As Y/N watched her brothers and mother, Pascale, engaging in animated conversation, she couldn't help but feel a pang of longing. She desperately wanted to be a part of their world, to share in their victories and defeats. But fate had chosen a different path for her, one that she was still struggling to come to terms with.
"Y/N, can you pass me the sugar, s'il vous plaĂŽt?" Charles's voice interrupted her thoughts, his eyes focused on his phone.
Y/N snapped back to reality and reached for the sugar, placing it in front of him. "Here you go, Charles."
"Merci," he replied absentmindedly, already engrossed in his social media feed.
She glanced at Arthur, who was discussing race strategies with their mother in rapid French. He occasionally shot her a sympathetic smile, aware of the void in her heart.
Feeling a surge of frustration, Y/N mustered the courage to speak up. "Maman, I don't feel well can I go to my room?" she said, her voice wavering slightly.
Pascale turned to her daughter, a concerned expression on her face but still let her. "Bien sĂťr"
Y/N found solace in her bedroom, sitting on the edge of her bed, staring at the wall adorned with posters of her brothers' achievements. It was a constant reminder of the path she couldn't walk.
A soft knock on the door interrupted her thoughts, and her mother, Pascale, stepped in. She had a gentle smile on her face, but Y/N could see the sadness in her eyes.
"Ma chĂŠrie," Pascale said, her voice filled with love and concern. "Are you okay?"
Y/N fought back tears and nodded, unable to find the right words.
Pascale sat beside her and gently placed a hand on her shoulder. "I know it's difficult, Y/N. But your time will come. We couldn't afford to support all three of you at once, and it broke our hearts to make that decision."
Y/N's voice trembled as she spoke, "I just feel so invisible, Mom. Like I don't matter compared to Charles and Arthur. They're living their dreams, and I'm stuck here."
Pascale hugged her tightly, her voice softening. "You matter more than you know, my dear. You're our pillar of strength, our hope for the future. We couldn't have made it this far without you."
Y/N clung to her mother, tears streaming down her face. "Je sais, maman, mais c'est difficile. J'essaie de trouver ma place, mais j'ai l'impression que je ne pourrai jamais briller comme eux."
A few days later, Charles, Arthur, and Lorenzo found Y/N sitting in the garden, lost in her thoughts. They exchanged worried glances before joining her, taking a seat on the bench.
Lorenzo, the ever-protective older brother, broke the silence. "Y/N, we need to talk. We've noticed that you've been feeling down lately, and we want you to know that we see you. We love you."
Y/N looked up at them, tears streaming down her face. "I'm sorry. I don't want to be a burden. I just can't help feeling left behind."
Charles placed a hand on her shoulder, his voice filled with remorse. "Y/N, you're not a burden. We may be racing, but you're racing in your own way. You're still fighting, still pushing through, and we admire that."
Arthur chimed in, his voice full of conviction. "You've always been our biggest supporter, Y/N. Your presence gives us strength. We wouldn't be where we are without you."
Y/N wiped away her tears, a glimmer of hope returning to her eyes. She finally felt seen, acknowledged, and valued by her brothers.
"Merci," she whispered, a small smile tugging at the corners of her lips. "Je vous aime"
In that moment, they all understood the true meaning of family. It wasn't just about racing or achievements, but about being there for each other, supporting one another through the highs and lows of life.
The Leclerc family stood in a tender embrace, a silent acknowledgment of the love and bond they shared. In that moment, Y/N realized that while her dreams of becoming a race car driver may have been put on hold, she had something equally valuableâher family's unwavering support.
From that day forward, Y/N pursued her passion for motorsports in her own unique way. She became an avid spectator, cheering on her brothers from the sidelines, and found solace in other hobbies that sparked her creativity and brought her joy.
In the shadows of the track, Y/N Leclerc discovered her own light, finding fulfillment in the love of her family and the pursuit of her own dreams, however different they may be.
