Chief/chef - Tumblr Posts
YA'LL... So I was cleaning out some old stuff, and I came across my copy of The Legend of Korra: An Avatar's Chronicle. Then, I decided on a whim to read Lin's letter to Korra. Well, something gave me pause.
Why is Lin mentioning specifically visiting this random chef in her letter to Korra lmaoo? "Ridiculous (affectionate) chef," she says. Unless...
Here we have Lin attempting to act natural after Mako just called her out for "sleeping for 16 hours." Right... holed up in the guest house for 16 hours ;)
Keep in mind, the scene right after this is Lin sipping her kalenutsco. Before slipping out the back of the guest house, consider the chef saying, "Meet me in the dining room, bby grl, let's get you rehydrated."

The Chief and the Chef.... ayooooo.
The more I think about Chief/Chef, the more I like it, lol.
Lin has a casual tryst buddy that she gets to see when she is in Zaofu. Suyin is oblivious because she would never fathom her "uptight" sister would be interested in a former pirate. Lin gets the slight thrill of the scandal and gets to exchange meaningful glances while he serves their meals.
Most importantly, he is a chill dude around her own age (maybe a little younger). He isn't trying to push anything. AND, when she comes to visit, he always makes sure to cook all her favorite stuff.
Bonus: He's got big biceptsssss and forearms and can lift her up like a feather.
Why this also works: As a former pirate, he definitely has the nerve and isn't afraid or intimidated by her. He can tell the bark from the bite essentially.
Since he has worked at the Zaofu estate for well over a decade, if not from the beginning, he is privy to everything that has gone on over the years, especially since he talks with all the service workers behind the scenes. This provides an endless amount of entertaining dialogue as he regales all of Suyin's less than glamorous, and sometimes morally dubious, blunders from the start of Zaofu. He straight up roasts her for being a bit full of it sometimes, lol.
Ultimately, it's totally just a "we are having fun" thing and they are both good with that.
On next weeks episode of the Chief and the Chef...
I am having too much fun with this 🤣🤣🤣
How do you honestly think the Chief/Chef would go down? Does Su know?
So I don't want to spoil the art I am working on, haha, but Su is totally oblivious for a long time. The same way Lin is locked in certain old perceptions of Su, I think Suyin is locked in old perceptions of Lin. It doesn't even occur to her that her "bitter loner" of a sister has lived a whole life for the past 30 years and gone through all kinds of character evolution.
Initially, I think the way Chief/Chef happens is just purely impulse and wanting to let off steam ;) but then it kinda works and is fun so the times just keep rolling.
When Su finally finds out it is purely by accident.
Would Lin have a kid with the Chef?
Definitely not. She is past that time. But I get why some people want to give Lin her own family, because I think they view this as a path to happiness. But I don't think that was ever for Lin. I don't think that is what she wanted.
If Lin had wanted kids, she would have had the perfect opportunity with Tenzin. Had she been willing to have them, he probably would have been super helpful in taking care of them and making sure she could return to work as soon as possible. She could have also afforded help easily. Heck the acolytes seem so enthusiastic in season two they probably would have helped out.
But I don't think she wanted to be that absent, perpetually working mother. She was also burnt out from a childhood of taking care of Su. She also may not have even wanted to put her body through that given that her job is so physical.
Thus, when it comes to the Chief and the Chef, what happens in Zaofu, stays in Zaofu. She is probably not even thinking about him when she isn't visiting. And that is how they both like it.
