Ominous / Outline October 2024 Day 1

Happy Ominous / Outline October!

For Ominous October, your challenge it to write at least 714 words (or more) per day, to write a 5k word short story each week! There's also an option to just write daily drabbles of 714 or more words as well.

This first week's prompt is "Undead / Strange Town"

Alternatively, today's Daily Prompt is "Raised from the Dead"

If you are participating in Outline October instead, now is your sign to start outlining and planning your story for Novella November!

If you don't have a concrete idea of who your main character is yet, now is the time to start brainstorming and designing :)

A good first step for outlining is figuring out what you want the opening pages of your story to be, how you want the main plot to start, and what happens between those two points, and work your way outward from there :)

I've met the 1.4k word count for today. But more importantly, what I was writing didn't feel quite right, and I've thought about it and decided to switch to dual perspectives so that I can develop the characters better. Original characters are hard! I want to try to find the gem inside my idea that I'll want to make into the finished product.

💙 Oh yeah, they're definitely hard! I had decided on who my main character was going to be for my story, but when I started worldbuilding and outlining the setting, I realized it would be a much more powerful story from the opposite perspective, after seeing an episode of Doctor Who that failed in the opposite direction, not that this is going to make sense with no context,

but sometimes it takes thinking outside the box and finding inspiration in unsuspecting places to change your writing style for the betterment of the story you want to tell!

The character has also completely changed backstories multiple times now as I worldbuild and toss out the old ideas that just don't work with my new vision for this world.

This is why I was determined to do Outline October alongside Ominous October, because even just sitting down and fleshing out the characters, the setting, or the plot can reveal some serious changes that need to be made with the original concept to get it to flow well!

just for clarity so no one panics, the daily goal for Ominous October is 714 words per day, equaling 5k words every seven days, with three catch-up days at the end, the word goals you see on the Ominous October calendar are the cumulative goals for that day, *not* an 'exponentially-increasing word goal per day'.

#fembakubang got me writing for these two idiots again

many people ask her why she's dating "a nerd like him when you can have anyone with a body like that" they eye her up and down and katsuki takes pride in the way she can turn anyone's eye 

she knows what they want when they offer to buy her a drink and when they come a little too close during girls night out 

she doesn't usually do the "already got a boyfriend" line because it never works, but lately she's been doing it more often. 

she wants them to ask about deku so that she can get that exact response 

it really makes her blood boil. she slams the door of her closet shut and glares at the mirror. everyone except her idiot boyfriend wants to get in her pants. did she need to giftwrap herself and write a note saying FUCK ME YOU DWEEB for him to get it?! 

uraraka snorts into her drink when katsuki confesses her dilemma and she knows she's been drinking a little too much when her brain processes WHO she told about her woes 

"WHAT" uraraka yells, her laugh loud and obnoxious, "But you guys have been a pair since forever!" 

katsuki groans into her drink, "i know!" 

uraraka takes out her phone, "call him! tell him you're getting hit on and to come get you!" it seemed like a bright idea in katsuki's slightly intoxicated mind, which is probably why she did as uraraka said. 

and to his credit, deku did drop his studies and ran over to get her, but he also just gave her water, made her eat a few snacks, and then tucked her into bed. 

even when she pulled at his jacket at the entrance of her house and practically devoured his tongue 

"kacchan," he'd said softly, "it's time for bed, ok?" and fuck it, katsuki is weak to his sweet little smiles and dorky eyes and pampering. 

she let him pull her out of her party clothes and into her pjs, comb her hair, and pull the comforter over her chin. she made a noise of content when he kissed her forehead and then she was out 

but not today 

today was the day that deku was going to FALL. 

ideally into her bed and inside her 

she eyes the paper and sharpie on her desk

A/N: omfg i haven't written for this pair in years but like this is fun LOL should I continue?

ok but like imagine deku as a sort of superman chara who dresses all fancy when he's in villain mode and then all dorky and shy when he's out and about, helping grannies cross the street and wearing glasses that are too big for his baby face and nobody (miraculously) realizes!

and yes, this also includes prohero katsuki who has made it her LIFES GOAL to find this "vigilante" who thinks he's helping heroes and the system (he's NOT) and take him down except she's also unknowingly seeing him, "randomly" bumping into him on her off  days and yeah, she can see herself seriously dating this midoriya, maybe, but only AFTER she's captured deku 

 what she doesn't realize is that there's tons of footage and fans out there that are theorizing that maybe her and deku are actually flirting when they fight, and uraraka eats that shit up bc she loves gossip and she tells katsuki about it all and how some people even think that midoriya IS deku and she's like wtf that nerd can't even walk straight half the time bc his usual persona is cute and clumsy

and of course they're not fucking flirting, katsuki is very clearly detonating her quirk in his face for fucks sake! but then uraraka is like ok but like why is his hero name deku and katsuki remembers when she'd called him that accidentally and how funny he thought it'd been

then one day she's fending off some guys when she's off but she's technically not supposed to use force on civilians so she kind of just beats them off but they KNOW so she ends up in a bit of a bind and guess who comes to her "rescue"

and i haven't thought too hard about it but I want her to realize, maybe deku gets tired of hiding or he accidentally slips something and god, now that she knows they're the same, she's starting to waver bc she was actually considering midoriya as a PARTNER and angst bc betrayal

and now my brain is going a bit into dark territory bc sexy scene is a bit manipulative and dubcon fml
