SAM Exchange for Jaira: Tododeku and the age-regression quirk

image

SAM Exchange Ahhhhh, I hope you enjoyed this my SAM Exchange partner (jaira)! It’s like super short/nothing really impressive but uhm yeah…that’s me (lol) orz

I basically couldn’t decide between a couple of prompts but this is kinda the only one that made it to the coloring stages ^^;

todoroki and the agre-regression quirk

When Midoriya walked in through his apartment door he had a few expectations for the night.

He’d been out for almost a month doing hero work in another district a few hours over and when he’d been told he could finally go home he’d texted his boyfriend a quick message and received an answer almost instantly.

Shoucchan 9:52AM

I’ll be waiting for you

It had been a really short message but those simple words had made the day go by faster and he may have possibly smiled more than usual. Even the few villains he’d apprehended couldn’t make his mood drop!

Afterall, he’d finally be home and Todoroki would have made some food for him, would get his bath ready, they’d finally get to talk in person and god he’d really missed his voice (his phone didn’t do Shouto justice! all that interference). And because he was tired they’d go to bed early. It happened every time he was away for so long and even though it became routine, it never got boring.

Of course, all of those plans came crashing down when he opened his door and felt he’d knocked someone over! An ‘oomph’ caught his attention and he was instantly checking who had gotten hurt. He hadn’t really expected to find his boyfriend facedown on the floor, his body several inches too short, and clothes nearly coming off his body.

“Sh-Shouto?!” he squeaked out as a pair of annoyed mismatched eyes looked back at him.

“Welcome home…” silence engulfed them for a second and Midoriya couldn’t help but take in how…vulnerable Shouto looked.

His eyebrows twitched every few seconds and it wasn’t long before his features softened and his eyes widened. His voice was more high pitched and just full of life, which was so different from his usual monotone. He was wearing a white shirt that Midoriya knew was his because Shouto prefered V-necks to T-shirts and he even had his shoes on. “What happened?! Are you okay?!”

A sigh escaped Shouto’s lips, “I’m…fine, though I don’t know how this happened,” he raised his hand and Midoriya could see it was slightly scraped.

He closed the door behind him and was about to pick up Shouto but his boyfriend stopped him with a shake of his head, “Don’t worry, I can get inside by myself.”

Midoriya nodded, “Ok.”

Shouto turned away from him, his hand still raised and Midoriya took that chance to take his phone out and snap a picture because yes he was worried about his boyfriend but how many times did stuff like this happen?! He needed to document it!

It was only a few steps into the house that Shouto gave up on keeping his pants on and Midoriya couldn’t help the internal squeals and external blush that adorned his face because his boyfriend had just gone up in the cute department!

I need to tell Uraraka about this!

“Come on, pretend I’m not four feet tall, I’ll tell you what happened,” came Shouto’s embarrassed voice. Maybe the flash had been too loud or maybe his squealing hadn’t been internal? He wasn’t sure but if Shouto wasn’t worried then he wouldn’t make a fuss about it…depending on what his boyfriend told him.

As it turns out Shouto’s “situation” had already been taken care of. Aizawa and Recovery Girl had already been informed, he’d had a few tests run, and it was only a matter of time before the effects of the age regression quirk wore off.

“We think it was accidental since I haven’t come into contact with any villains with that quirk,” Shouto explained as he massaged Midoriya’s head, soap bubbles coming up in the air. Midoriya hummed, glad that it was nothing serious.

“It’s different, but I like it,” Midoriya confessed, his eyes closing.

Ever since he walked through the door he’d seen something new. Todoroki’s expressions were less guarded and happened instantly, his face would get flushed every time his laugh came out as a giggle or when he’d slip in climbing the kitchen stool or when he’d ask Midoriya to grab him the shirt he had Momo make him because he forgot to take it off the hanger in the morning.

Shouto tsked and tugged at his locks softly, “Come on, get out now and let’s get to bed, you’re tired.”

Midoriya nodded as he got up from his bath and took the towel Shouto gave him. He watched as his four foot tall boyfriend moved around the bathroom unplugging the tub and quickly rinsing it. He washed his hands up to his elbows and scowled when he accidentally sprayed himself with too much water.

Midoriya couldn’t help but laugh and once he’d semi-dried his hair and put on his boxers he did what he’d been wanting to do since he’d seen Todoroki in child form - he picked him up, “I-Izuku! Put me down!”

“Not this time,” Midoriya answered, a huge smile plastered on his face. He walked out of the bathroom and practically jumped into bed, a little scream escaped Shouto as they landed in a heap of limbs and laughter.

Midoriya exhaled loudly, “I was not expecting coming home to find my boyfriend turned into a child but...it was fun.”

Shouto rolled his eyes as he moved to turn off the bedside light, “Only because you’re not stuck like this, do you know how inconvenient it is being four feet tall?”

“Mmmm,” Midoriya hummed as he grabbed Shouto and pulled him to his chest, “It’s a good thing you have me as a boyfriend.”

A small giggle escaped Shouto and this time he didn’t try to hide it. He turned to face Midoriya and smiled, “Well, it would be a shame if being the #1 Hero’s Boyfriend didn’t come with any perks.”

Midoriya poked Shouto in the stomach, “Goodnight, Shoucchan.”

Shouto kissed Midoriya’s cheek, “Goodnight, Izuku.”

hidekane pls! maybe a cute au with these two lovelies~ ?? TY

Aaah, I wish I had the time to flesh this story out properly, but it’s an AU I’ve been thinking about for a while now! :D Thank you for asking for HideKane ~ I’m always a sucker for these two dorks. (>.

Summer and winter don’t mix. At least, not in Kaneki’s mind they don’t. His predecessor, Arima, told him this before he left everything to Kaneki and turned into dust. Summer and winter can never meet. This is why spring and fall exist. To separate the two forever. But, because of one too many reasons, here he is, sitting atop the school roof with Spring, Summer, and Fall and having some kind of peaceful lunch hour.Spring is a kind-hearted and soft girl named Yoriko. She reminds Kaneki a lot of the cherry blossoms that fill the air whenever it’s her time to perform the ritual. Fall is a sharp-tongued girl, a little rough around the edges, named Touka. Summer, on the other hand, is a force entirely on his own. His smile is brilliant and his golden brown hair catching the light made him look like the sun itself. He has a natural warmth that comes with his unbridled mirth and energy. Typical of a Summer.“Er,” Kaneki says, interrupting whatever the other three were talking about (probably the upcoming school trip), “I still don’t understand why we’re hanging out like this. Isn’t this against the tradition?” He’s looking at Touka, Fall, his partner. The one who’s supposed to keep him from being within a ten kilometre radius of Summer.Touka jerks her thumb at Yoriko. “Don’t look at me. It was her idea. I just go along with whatever she wants.”“Oh, Touka,” Yoriko pouts. “You told me you agreed with me!”“Well. It’s true that the tradition is a bunch of dusty farts.”“Dusty old farts seconded,” Summer pipes up.Kaneki frowns as the conversation is entirely derailed. In the end, the other three assure him that tradition can go chuck itself in the garbage. He isn’t wholly convinced. Not even a little bit.Summer scares him. The heat terrifies him.

Months pass and somehow he and Hide—Summer—walk home together every so often. He thinks Hide has a scant sense of humour. Hide thinks Kaneki makes a lot of funny faces whenever they’re together. They laugh together now. They lend each other school supplies and books. They while the weekends away at each other’s houses. But still, Kaneki is afraid. So they never touch. Not a single brush of skin against skin.Hide’s inclination toward horseplay makes this difficult, but Kaneki does his best and finally, Summer gets the message. It makes Kaneki rather lonely.

Spring and Fall are joined at the hip. Kaneki can say the same about himself and Hide. Whenever he and Hide make plans to go home together, he can see Yoriko and Touka watching them intently. He wonders if this is something their predecessors told them to do. How do they not see the risks of what they’re doing? How does Hide not see them? How does Kaneki not see them? Despite his fears, he still sticks to Hide like glue. He’s made Hide his emotional support, his weapon to combat loneliness. He needs Hide. But he can’t.Winter can’t need summer. They exist independently of each other. Not like this… Not like this.

Then one day, two years later, on graduation day, Summer vanishes. Hide is gone, without a trace. Touka and Yoriko seem to know something, but they say nothing. Kaneki feels broken, betrayed. He doesn’t know what to do. The pain reaches inside of him, in places he never even knew existed. For two years afterward, winters are harsh and unforgiving, because Kaneki can’t forgive himself for falling in love with the one person he can’t fall in love with.

“You’ve given up looking?” Touka asks, sliding him a cup of black coffee. She and Yoriko have built a café together. They’re happy and though it’s been so long since Hide disappeared, Kaneki feels kind of okay now. “I found out about his predecessor.” Kaneki takes a sip of his coffee. “Why didn’t you tell me he’d run away?”“He told us not to,” she replies solemnly. “We swore we wouldn’t tell you the truth. Not by ourselves. He never said anything about stopping you from looking for the answer yourself.” She smiles sadly. “I can’t believe he thought you wouldn’t love him back.”“He can be dense like that.” Kaneki can’t ignore the ache in his chest. Hide had seen him one day in middle school performing the ritual. That was when he had decided to run away from his predecessor and meet Kaneki himself. But going against tradition meant making enemies. He asked Yoriko to help him. She did.Now here they are in the middle of this mess.“You didn’t answer me,” Touka says suddenly. “You’ve given up? Or haven’t you?”Kaneki lowers the cup. “Yes and no. It’s… hard to explain. Somehow, I just feel like he’s telling me to trust him. That he’ll come back to us.”Touka smiles. “Yeah. Sounds like something he’d tell you to do.”

Another year passes. Kaneki sits in front of his laptop, typing away. He leans back and pinches the bridge of his nose. He sighs. Glancing at the clock, he sees that it’s almost time to perform his ritual. He gets on his feet to gather everything he needs, but just as he does so, the doorbell rings. He wonders who it might be at this time of night. He’s worried it’s some sort of criminal, even a prisoner on the run. But he shakes his head. It’s suspicious, but he needn’t panic. He goes to the door. Opens it a little.“Kaneki…”“Hide?”Summer looks tired. His face is gaunt and he moves with unmistakable lethargy. But the moment he sees Kaneki, some of his brilliance returns and he beams.“Kaneki,” he says again. “I’m home.”

Send me a prompt + a pairing!

For Anon: Reigen gets drunk, appreciates Mob's muscles, and then wakes up under the table?

ReiMob Drabbles, Ch3

Read on Ao3

Shigeo sighs for the umpteenth time in just one hour as he floats the glass of "alcohol" he'd given Reigen away from his clumsy fingers.

The older man had called him the night before, asked him if he was still free the next evening and he couldn't help the smile that had escaped his lips as he reassured the man (again) that he would be at his apartment right after school. He'd kept his promise, his only delay being going home to change and get Reigen's gift.

That had been at least four hours ago.

"Mooooooob," Reigen whined as he stretched over the table to try and get the glass back.

"Master, you're going to get hurt if you keep drinking," Shigeo chastised, though, in reality, he'd stopped serving the lemon sour with alcohol after the first one. It was amazing how the older man continued to become more sluggish and...drunk, "Come on, let's finish watching the movie."

Reigen blew a raspberry as he slumped onto the table, knocking down the TV remote and the gift wrap Shigeo had used for his present. Shigeo sighed again and moved from his curled up position on the couch to help Reigen back up. He used his esper abilities to pause the terrible film they were watching while he pulled Reigen's arm over his shoulder, grunting at his dead weight. If he'd tried this three years ago he'd be crushed under Reigen's weight, but his Body Improvement activities had helped tremendously.

A giggle escaped Reigen as Shigeo sat him down on the couch. He was about to move away but the arm around him stayed put.

"Master?"

"Mob?" Reigen looked slightly confused as he squinted his eyes, scrunched up his nose, and pulled him closer, "'ss that reeally you?"

A blush made its way to Shigeo's cheeks at their proximity, "Y-Yes."

The blonde grinned and patted his back, "So strong!" he practically gushed.

Shigeo wasn't really sure how to take his words but just the fact that his strength and hard work had been acknowledged...he felt pride. He nodded his thanks. He successfully moved away from Reigen, ready to take his place at the end of the couch and start the movie when he was once again delayed, this time by Reigen tugging roughly on his sweater's back. He fell back, half on the couch and half on Reigen

"You do have 6!" Reigen exclaimed as his hands slipped under Shigeo's sweater and rubbed up and down his stomach, "Mmm-" hiccup, "-ya know I could never do somethin like this. Too much work but YOU, you-" he nodded and his hair tickled Shigeo's face, "-you really good-"

Shigeo, on the other hand, was frozen in his seat as he chanted 7 months 7 months in his head, his face completely red. He was hyper aware of Reigen's touch, the way his palms were slightly damp but glided smoothly over his skin. The way they recounted his abs, the whispered numbers near his ear, and the way they moved over his ribs a couple of times. It all made him shiver, 7 months 7 months, "Mhmm, six."

When Reigen moved higher is when Shigeo grabbed his arms. He was breathing a little faster, "I, Master, I don't think that's a good idea..."

Reigen chuckled and easily maneuvered his hands out of Shigeo's grasp, "Even your hands are bigger now!" He stared in fascination and even put his hands with Shigeo's for a comparison.

"Hey Mob."

Shigeo slightly turned towards Reigen.

"Let me...Let me see your arms," his hands were already moving to unzip his sweater and Shigeo panicked. Wouldn't this be putting Reigen in a bad position? If someone walked in, if Serizawa came home, what would he think? Or would it be okay to just show him? He'd put his sweater back on and go back to his corner! He felt his stress levels go up. Why couldn't it be next year already?!

His sweater was pulled down and Reigen touched and rubbed, cooing at how his shoulders were broader and stronger, hehe doesn't this seem like it's your birthday? It appeared his conscious had turned into Dimple and that single green distraction helped him get his bearings. He placed his hand on Reigen's thigh (it wasn't as firm as his but he loved the warmth it emanated and how it tensed) and tried to move away, "We should keep watching the movie, did you want another drink?"

He must have done something wrong because next thing he knew, Reigen's right hand was on his leg and it was moving down, over, up, and oh so close-

Shigeo shot up, his sweater dropping completely from his frame, 7 months! His face was red as he stuttered out, "I-I'll start the movie!" but he was so flustered he hadn't noticed Reigen had tangled up their feet and he ended up falling to the ground, his face missing the table by a few centimeters.

Reigen started laughing hysterically but once he calmed down he called out, "Mooooob~"

Shigeo turned his face and found himself nearly flattened by a drunk (again, how) Reigen as he laid down next to him. He pulled Shigeo towards him and muttered a content, "So warm," before passing out.

And Shigeo could only internally weep because, how had it turned out this way? He'd been so careful too!

OMAKE

Reigen tried to get up and cursed as his head hit...the table? What was he doing under the table? As he looked down he yelled out and once more bumped his head, "Mob?!"

The seventeen-year-old was next to him, rubbing his eyes as he yawned, "...Oh you're awake..."

Reigen couldn't believe how calm his words were, especially when he took in their situation: under table, his leg over Mob's, Mob in a tank and sweatpants, him in a tank and (his eyes nearly popped out of their sockets) boxers. Holy mother of, he was going to HELL. But, more importantly, he was going to Jail, all because he couldn't keep his pants on and hands (and legs) off a seventeen-year-old Mob.

He could feel himself sweat, "W-what happened here?"

Mob blushed...

Mob. Blushed. Oh yes, he was dead.

He purposefully banged his head again, hoping he'd knock himself out and kill the arousal pooling in his not pants. Unfortunately for him, that only caused enough ruckus for Serizawa to come yelling from the guest room and then dropping his jaw when he saw them under the table.

Maybe being dead would be better than his current situation.

OMAKE: MOB

Mob blushed. How was he going to tell Reigen that after thoroughly appreciating his musculature he'd followed Mob under the table and promptly passed out? Started complaining halfway through the night it was too hot, and then stripped to his boxers? Not to mention cuddled him for most of his slumber...

A/N:

Hey guys! I wrote this for Anon and I hope you all enjoy~ (it turned out more humorous than expected)

p.s. I know NOTHING about alcoholic beverage or what a lemon sour is, I just looked up some info and apparently some recipes add alcohol and others don't :P

p.s.s. I also know nothing about being drunk or drunk people (LOL)

To Anon for MP100 SS: Reigen swears he has a boyfriend but Ekubo doesn't believe him and Serizawa is Serizawa

The Teenager Who Cried BOYFRIEND

Read on Ao3

Reigen was slightly upset and ok, perhaps it was his fault he was in such a predicament but really, would he exaggerate (because he never lied...just told it how he saw it) about something as serious as a boyfriend? No. Except nobody believed him

He shivered, bringing his shoulders closer to his body and burying his nose into his soft pink scarf (a gift from his BOYFRIEND). Apparently, the color had reminded him of Reigen and Reigen being the sentimental boyfriend that he was, wore it religiously once the weather got colder. Yes he got some talk from it ('What is that THING' was Ekubo's horrified response when he'd first worn it) but, Reigen colored a little from the cold and from remembering his boyfriend's pleased look when he sent him a picture that day, he didn't care

It really does suit you

Idiot! It's just a scarf, are you still coming?

Yes

Now that he was on school break he could start holiday shopping. Yes he'd left it last minute but he already had some ideas in mind and not many people to gift. Only Serizawa, Ekubo (He grunted. He should get him some socks...in the wrong size!), and -

"Reigen!" but it was too late. He nearly collapsed under the height and weight of Ekubo

"Hey, lover boy, where are you headed off to so sneakily?" The guy always (and he repeats always) sniffed him out. But only when Reigen needed him to be miles away. If he were ever to need the taller man to bail him out then it's like nobody even knew who he was. Like my "imaginary" boyfriend

His voice was muffled under his scarf, "Christmas shopping, I'm meeting Mob this weekend."

Suddenly there was a shadow over him and he was grateful to see the giant umbrella his friend seemed to carry around religiously

"Oh, are you spending Christmas with him?" was Serizawa's kind reply. He seemed to be the only one who "believed" Reigen but it seemed more so that he was trying to keep peace

"Yes, and you guys don't need to come with me," he made sure he was looking at Ekubo when he said this because honestly, he didn't mind Serizawa's company and his umbrella, but Ekubo could be troublesome in many ways, "Don't you have someone else to bother? Girls and boys to make cry this holiday?"

It was a well-known fact that Ekubo was a raging bisexual and by raging he meant that he'd never turn down an adoring fan from his fanclub, which he was the president of (he seemed to love that people loved him). Some people tried to get into his pants a couple times and yes Ekubo had a few flings here and there but he seemed more amused with just messing with people and waving at his adoring crowd than actual relationships. Aside from Serizawa and himself it seemed.

"Come now Rei-chan, friends need to help each other out. Plus, knowing you, you'd probably give this Mob fellow something plain and boring. I'm here to spice up the holidays," and that was what Reigen didn't want. But he didn't try sending his friends off again. Not after Serizawa nodded in assent and not after Ekubo laughed aloud and added, "Besides, I need to know how far you're going to take this whole boyfriend business."

Reigen sighed at that

Serizawa stage whispered Ekubo's name right before hitting him with the umbrella

---

The first time Reigen met Mob was at a Spirits and Such Seminar about a  year ago. Reigen had attended as a self-proclaimed psychic, as whenever anyone in school needed a little extra hand, his services were requested. Unfortunately (or fortunately), none of his assignments ever involved actual spirits. It was usually something about lost animals, stressed-out students, and creepy photographs. Which he usually solved in a manner of a few minutes, sometimes a few hours. Rarely more than that. It was a good way to earn money and it combined many of his unique skills

He'd found out about the seminar while browsing online and was particularly impressed with the whole proclamation about a "real esper" attending. He'd never heard of people with actual powers before. Everyone he'd met along the way had been phonies and, well, he was intrigued

The seminar was being run by someone named Tome Kurata, who was well known in the community for being obsessed with aliens and telepathy. She'd also run a couple other seminars (that had all flopped) but this one had been legit. When he arrived they'd been given some candy, which he'd then re-handed out, and once it started, boy had he been impressed

Impressed by the handsome guest speaker in more ways than one

Not only was he an ACTUAL esper, but he was a powerful one. To settle everyone's minds he'd done a few tricks like made some objects in the room float and then made bubbles with water, creating an almost otherworldly atmosphere. They'd then gotten down to business, talking about the dos and don'ts of spirits, and how to avoid catching the attention of one. Many things he already knew but also some new tidbits he hadn't known. Like the part where Mob had pointed at the woman next to him and said she had a playful spirit atop her head, feeding into her dreams. She'd then confessed that yes, she had been having some strange dreams and the spirit had been exorcised

It had been brief but their eyes had met and he'd seen interest in those black orbs. Possibly because he was the youngest in attendance.

It has to be that, because, unlike his friends, Reigen was average. He didn't work out so he had no muscles to brag about. He was also rather short, something he never thought about until he started high school and found himself dwarfed by quite a few people. Ekubo and Serizawa being two of these people. And he didn't have any distinguishing features.

Mob on the other hand. He was tall, like all the people Reigen seemed to be doomed to meet. And there wasn't anything eye-catching about his physical features aside from his height - he wore a black suit and there was a black jacket on his seat, black hair, black eyes, and pale skin - but there was something about the way he spoke, how kind and patient his voice sounded (like he truly cared about them) and how his eyes wouldn't stray from whoever he was talking to

Which is why Reigen decided he needed to talk with the man

It took a while since everyone wanted to talk to him but finally, he pulled through. Unfortunately, it was because Kurata was shooing everyone away

"Wait, Mob?" the man turned at his name being called but Kurata stood in front Reigen, her voice stern and a scowl on her face, "Mob is tired and the seminar is over kid. Everyone needs to leave now, he'll be consulting for a few days this week, you can come by then. There are flyers being handed out when you leave."

"Ah, but, we're colleagues!" he blurted out and then began to sweat. It wasn't technically a lie. They both worked with spirits afterall

She eyes him suspiciously, "You an esper?"

"Tome-chan?" Mob called out, walking over to her. If Reigen felt dwarfed, he wasn't sure how Kurata felt as she was nearly a head shorter than him. It was slightly amusing

"Mob! He's saying he's an esper!" her eyes seemed to almost sparkle in his direction and Reigen wondered if she liked the guy

Mob turned to him, his eyes almost boring into him and Reigen felt his face heat up. Could espers tell each other apart? He wasn't sure but there was something playful in Mob's gaze, amused, and yup, Reigen got his answer

Reigen cleared his throat, "I'm Reigen Arataka, I'm a senior from Salt Senior High School-"

"Hey! You said you were a colleague!" Kurata cut him off

"-and I also work with spirits." He looked pointedly at Kurata, "And that's why I called myself a colleague."

That made Kurata pout and she promptly walked away, continuing on her duties and leaving him to Mob. Seemed the rumors about that were true

Mob's mouth lifted into a smile, "It's nice to meet you Reigen, don't mind Tome-chan. Did you need help with something?"

"Well, not of the usual sort. You see, I've been helping around the school and town, anyone who says they're haunted or you know, have ghost problems. I was hoping to learn more and since you're clearly more experienced on the matter..." oh god, his eyes, that attention, "uhm, and well, Kurata mentioned you travel a lot, I plan to keep myself local, help out here in Seasoning City. You'd be surprised considering its size but there's a lot of people here who need help!"

Ok he was rambling now and his heart was beating too quickly and he felt sweat beading his brow and upper lip and if he didn't calm down he'd have clammy hands and breath, breathe!

He took a deep breath and nearly rushed through the rest, "Could we maybe keep in contact? Exchange numbers? I'd only text you when I absolutely need help of course!!"

Smooth. That was smooth, right? Ekubo would be proud

"You want Mob's number?" Kurata asked behind him and Reigen nearly jumped out of his skin, his face more bright now he was sure, "Aren't you a little too young? You do know that Mob is already 30, right?"

He turned towards her quickly, "It's for work purposes!"

But just like Ekubo, she gave him a disbelieving look. And no he didn't know Kurata like that (just read a couple things about her) but if it turned out she and Ekubo were related in some way, he wouldn't be surprised

He looked over to Mob, "B-but that's fine if you'd rather not. I know it's weird to have a stranger ask for your number and you probably get this a lot and don't listen to her I didn't mean-"

"That's fine," Mob's quiet voice made Reigen pause, "I don't mind. Here."

"He could also be a serial esper killer Mob," Kurata warned, "Remember what happened last time?"

Last time? Now Reigen was intrigued but Mob only hummed before passing him a business card with a number written on the back, "Don't worry about the time. I can't promise to reply immediately but I'll try to help out however I can."

And okay, maybe Reigen did want Mob's number for that. Or at least eventually, maybe. And maybe Reigen also melted a little when Mob smiled at him and when he placed his warm palm on his shoulder and maybe the rest of his day was a blur because of that

---

Reigen pauses as he feels Serizawa tug on his jacket and he sees Ekubo a couple shops down, waving at him, pointing towards, he looks over, Victoria Secret? Why would he...

"He thinks your boyfriend would like it," is Serizawa's answer and Reigen can't believe that smile on Serizawa's face. Is this betrayal?

Reigen ignores Ekubo's calling and continues walking around the mall. And maybe he's a little glad that they lose Ekubo for awhile but then he finds the two of them again

"Where did you go?" Serizawa asks quietly

"Oh just getting a friend a present, WAIT, Reigen why not get something from here? I hear the back has a few interesting things!"

They stop by at this strange little alcove with the name Spencers on top and shrugs. They go inside, Serizawa giving Ekubo a pointed look and Reigen raising a brow at them both. It seems they carry similar content to Hot Topic. He goes to the back and quickly leaves the store, a laughing Ekubo trailing after him and Serizawa the traitor!

---

Reigen isn't sure what to do. It's been a few hours since they arrived at the mall and he can't seem to pick out what to get Mob. Ekubo has tried to get him to buy some indecent things (I bet your 'boyfriend' would like this and For when you're not around, don't want him getting bored, right?) but it's obvious he means all of them to be for Reigen (as they're for his size). Reigen has gotten close to buying Mob a tie (then remembered he hardly used ties), a coat (then remembered Mob recently bought himself a coat), and a scarf (but he left the store, blushing when Serizawa mentioned a matching set would be cute). And yeah, Reigen kind of liked the idea of matching

They'd passed a couple jewelry places (Why not get him a collar so everyone knows he's taken) but he'd never seen Mob wear anything flashy and some of the prices were way over budget.

But they did pass by a movie theatre and he did see a movie he wanted to watch so perhaps they could come back later that week. Serizawa thinks he wants them to go in and starts looking at the times as well, noting that everything has started already

It's only when they're heading back and he sees a sports shop that he remembers Mob likes to work out. Has told him stories about his middle school days and the Bodybuilding Club and he decides to check it out. It confuses his friends and he can't help but smirk a little. He doesn't work out so obviously this stuff isn't for him

He ends up buying a hairband and a work out sweater with a wide neck because he is a healthy teenaged boy and Mob has a beautiful neck

"Well, I think that's enough for today," Reigen says, a bit of a yawn in his voice, "I don't think I'll find anything else here."

"Were you planning on going elsewhere later?" Serizawa asks, a bag of his own in his hand, his umbrella in the other

"Maybe, though I still don't know what else to get. Do you think these are enough?"

"BORING," Ekubo calls out as he's trailing behind them, "He probably could have brought that stuff himself."

"You should also give him chocolates," Serizawa recommends, "Does he like them?"

Reigen nods, mentally adding that to his list. That's when his phone goes off and he checks his messages

"Is that him?" Ekubo asks. Reigen nods, quickly reading over the message and pocketing his phone, "Joining us?"

"No, just sent me the details of when he's coming by. His plane comes in on Christmas Eve. I told him I'd pick him up."

Serizawa coos and Ekubo raises a brow, "When's he coming in?"

"He's on an early flight, 7."

Ekubo chuckles, "Isn't that rare! You waking up early. WELL, Seri and I are going to bolt now, we have some planning to do."

He nearly pushes Serizawa away and the bigger man waves at Reigen. Planning?

---

It's early on Christmas Eve when Reigen leaves his home to head to the airport and pick up Mob (though really Mob doesn't need picking up, he's a grown man but Reigen didn't want to wait to see him later today). He's still yawning when he leaves and maybe he dozes a bit when he catches a taxi. He's decided to dress casual because they're probably going to head back home and just sleep until later today. Mob did mention he hadn't gotten enough sleep and he was sure to be jet-lagged for awhile. Today wasn't as cold so he wore a cozy hoodie, his scarf, and some jogging pants he had lying around.

He makes it to the pick-up terminal about half an hour early and he finds a place to sit. As it nears time for Mob to come in Reigen begins to nod off, semi-aware of his surroundings and semi-thinking about later tonight. He'd tidied up the house and made some chocolate cookies (thank you internet) and bagged up Mob's gift. He'd also taken out the fluffy blanket Mob liked and made space in his closet. All that was left was for Mob to come home

And really, he could have sworn he'd only closed his eyes for a second, maybe five minutes, but next thing he knows he's being woken up by Mob. That instantly wakes him up and he bolts upright, "Mob! A-uhm, sorry! I said I'd be picking you up and here I am falling asleep and-and...Welcome Home."

Mob is smiling down at him, amusement in his eyes and leans down until they're only centimeters apart, "I'm home."

---

OMAKE p1

"I can't believe he fell asleep. Probably wouldn't even notice if I mobbed him," Ekubo said, a hand to his forehead, "But he's wearing that so he probably didn't bring anything on him."

"We should go wake him up, Mob should be here any time now and it's not safe to be sleeping out here," Serizawa fussed, his trusty umbrella on hand.

"We can't go up to him!" Ekubo nearly cried out when Serizawa started to walk over, "What part of secret mission didn't you get?! He's not supposed to know we're here!"

"I could walk by him and make a noise or something, he won't know," Ekubo looked at him pointedly

"With that umbrela there? Yeah, he won't recognize you."

"Good, I'll be-"

"I was being sarcastic!" Ekubo groaned. That's when they both noticed someone walk up to Reigen

"I told you it wasn't safe!" "Is that him?!"

It was a taller man dressed in a black hoodie, a turtleneck peaking out the top, black jeans, and black beanie, a carry on bag with wheels trailing a few inches behind him. They couldn't really see his face from where they were hiding but they could tell Reigen hadn't noticed yet. Not until the man nudged his shoulder. Suddenly Reigen stood (probably apologizing) and -

Ekubo whistled, "Guess he does have a boyfriend and a hot one."

Serizawa raised a brow but also looked on in wonderment as the couple kissed

"Good thing I got that gift in the right size."

---

OMAKE p2

Mob curled up closer to Reigen and smiled at how sensitive the younger man was. Since Mob traveled all over the place he had gotten used to colder weather so something like today was nothing. And even with the heater on, a breeze still entered the house (he'd need to find out where, didn't need Reigen to get a chill).

"You know," he placed a kiss to Reigen's ear, "you have great friends."

"What?" Reigen answered, confused, "You haven't even met them."

Mob only smiled, placing a kiss to Reigen's neck and sighing happily.

---

OMAKE p3

"Soooo," Ekubo pried once they got back to school, "How was it?"

Reigen lifted a brow, "How was what?"

"Don't play sly! Did you guys use my Christmas gift? He liked it didn't he? He seems the type."

Reigen colored at the little Christmas bag he'd hid in his closet and glowered at his friend, embarrassed, "NO!"

That wiped the smirk off Ekubo's face, "Prude."

The bell rang and the rest of his class started to trickle in, the ones inside settled down. He noticed Serizawa was running late and he began to worry. That guy was never late. He felt a kick to his chair and turned back to see Ekubo grinning at him, waving him to come closer. He clearly had that playful look to him and Reigen felt weary but came closer anyways

"Since you didn't use the gift I so generously sent, why not try out kabeshiri?" Ekubo whispered low enough where only Reigen would hear but loud enough that his voice would carry past the noise of everyone. A sort of stage whisper

"Kabeshiri? What's that?" Reigen mimicked him, a bad feeling stirring in his belly

Ekubo whispered the rest (quietly THANK GOD) and Reigen colored, his earlier worry of Serizawa gone

"I bet he'd be into it and don't forget to use the gift."

The teacher called attention and wow, Reigen had to cool down. Now. But the image of Mob's attention on him, pounding into him while wearing that in such a vulgar and primitive way...would Mob like it? They'd never talked about doing anything different but if Mob wanted to - No wait! Yes, it turned him on but also he liked to see Mob, liked to kiss him, liked to hold him. No, there were too many cons

He was distracted the whole day and Ekubo kept sending him knowing looks

Shared This On Twitter So Figured Id Share It Here Too!!

shared this on twitter so figured i’d share it here too!!

this is a WIP and might end up looking completely different to what i end up posting but it’s the basic idea

it’s set in an ageswap world where reigen is in high school and mob is a working adult. it’s supposed to be set in the same world as the teenager who cried BOYFRIEND (tbh tho, this wip is not as cute and fluff as that oneshot)

the prompt is from a request an anon sent me one time:  mob giving reigen a bj with his psychic powers

Gift for aliquoten: Tsukishima closes his eyes and falls into a restless slumber (sofa’21)

Restless

Read on Ao3

Tsukishima can’t sleep. Actually, he hasn’t been able to sleep well for the past few days, but this is the first time he’s opened his eyes to see him sleeping. The reason behind his insomnia. The room is dark, they always close the blinds every night, but it’s slowly approaching sunrise and some of those lights are starting to peek into their room.

Hinata is lying completely still next to him. It’s so different from the excitable and human version he (and everyone) sees during the waking hours.

Since Hinata doesn’t usually have to sleep, it’s rare for Tsukishima to see him in this state. After all, why would vampires need to sleep? He can see Hinata rolling his eyes at him, Everyone needs to rest every now and then, even people like me! He remembers Hinata’s stories of how he used to have a younger sister and they’d both end up sharing a futon sometimes, their limbs sprawled all over the bedding but also spilling out onto the hardwood floors of their traditional Japanese home. Their mother would find them snoring loudly in the mornings, their bellies uncovered, I don’t really remember what it felt like, to sleep like that, but sometimes I remember feeling happy you know? So I miss it. I can’t really snore anymore since I don’t need to breathe

No, he doesn’t. Instead, Hinata’s slumber is still, dark, and Tsukishima would usually panic if he woke up to someone so still and cold sleeping next to him, but this is somehow a comfort to him. He knows anything can easily wake up Hinata but his hand moves before he can think and he places it into Hinata’s, holding the lifeless limb

Hinata doesn’t move so he’s either truly dead to the world or he’s humoring Tsukishima

Tsukishima closes his eyes and falls into a restless slumber.

---

They have been living together for five years. Tsukishima doesn’t believe in forever. He knows that things change for one reason or another, but he feels like this could be it and it scares him that Hinata will just stare at him in silence when he talks about something longer. Or that his answers will carry some uncertainty. He’ll still be exuberant, but his eyes will shift, his hands will randomly start to play with something as a distraction, and Tsukishima wonders if maybe he’s the only one that wants forever

But Hinata truly has forever. He’s changed his life numerous times. Forever to him means a timed life, I haven’t lived everywhere in Japan yet but I’ve visited every place I can find, you know, to see if maybe it can be my next home. One time I went to America! It was so different!! But I came back. Maybe it can be my next home one day but I like it here

Tsukishima has only considered and embraced forever because Hinata is by his side

He doesn’t want to move from town to town and start a new life, change his name on occasion, leave loved ones behind, but he does want to keep holding Hinata’s hand. He wants them to keep going on those expensive trips where Hinata tells him some obscure tale about the inns that only someone who had been around hundreds of years ago would know. He wants to scold Hinata about walking around the house or outside with his hair wet, even though he knows nothing will come of it, because that’s what couples do. And as sullen as he’ll look in many of the photographs that have accumulated in their little apartment, Tsukishima also wants more of that

He wants to always be able to see Hinata’s smile at its brightest.

---

Hinata says he doesn’t live in the same place twice, but I made an exception for this place. I actually went to school here once, a long long time ago! I’m glad I came back

Tsukishima is glad too. He knows they started off on the wrong foot, mostly because Tsukishima is a jerk, he admits it, knows it, and is rather proud of it. He doesn’t like to give everyone his time and being nice to everyone is just exhausting. Perhaps there was some resentment in his way of thinking a few years ago, but he’s since then disentangled those threads and now he keeps up his attitude because it’s such an easier way to live

Being with Hinata has mellowed him out in some people’s eyes at least. Yamaguchi is still his best friend and they have the same sense of humor often, but if Tsukishima ever says the wrong thing, he knows Hinata will call him out. He doesn’t usually listen if the person he’s pissing off is Kageyama and he’s come to terms with the fact that there’s some jealousy in his blood regarding that

One of the reasons Hinata doesn’t like to come back to the same place more than once is because of people like Kageyama. They’re sitting on the couch when Hinata tells him, You shouldn’t be so mean to Kageyama, he’s not a bad guy. Tsukishima had only made an annoyed grunt. You know, this is a secret but…I used to know someone from Kageyama’s family when I lived here the first time. It actually scared me the first time I saw him, they look almost identical. Maybe that’s why we’re so competitive

Tsukishima wonders if this means anything. Hinata tells him that he’d been best friends with the other Kageyama and he speaks fondly of him. He wonders if that one knew of Hinata’s secret, if he would have also desired forever with Hinata, or if he’d known and decided to stay here. So many things could be different

He asks about his own ancestors. Hinata looks at him, No Tsukishima’s of your family in my life until you, that’s why I’m so happy I came back

Tsukishima agrees.

---

The first time Hinata drinks directly from Tsukishima happens when they first start living together. Hinata likes to hold his hand and Tsukishima doesn’t mind, he enjoys the way Hinata’s fingers will roam his skin, how his eyes will look so intently at the veins there. Tsukishima doesn’t know much about vampires, aside from the usual pop culture stereotypes, but he tells Hinata one day, if he wants to, that he doesn’t mind letting him drink from his neck

He imagines it would be painful, but if it’s for Hinata, he doesn’t mind. And there’s a sense of possession that he likes in the act.

Hinata had sat on his lap at the offer, kissed him slowly, so tenderly, on the lips. Drowned him in kisses, on his cheeks, his forehead, and then moved so slowly onto his neck. Tsukishima had gripped those small hips, prepared himself, but Hinata had only kissed him, gone so far as to leave a hickey. He’d seen how he’d stared at the blood coming to the surface, licked his lips. But he’d continued kissing, pulled his arm to his lips, kissed his wrist, up, up, up

And that’s where he felt the pinprick of teeth

Hinata had drank as carefully as he kissed, making sure to keep Tsukishima’s discomfort at a minimum. He’d asked about it when they were in the bath, Oh that, well, what if I hurt you? I’ve known vampires that have accidentally killed people like that. And doctors always take blood from the arm so that seemed safest to me

It makes Tsukishima curious about other things.

At that point, he’d known that sunlight didn’t truly affect vampires like it did in movies. Hinata didn’t turn into ash, otherwise, he wouldn’t have survived as long as he did. And he doesn’t start to look otherworldly…or at least not in a vampiric sense. It does make him dizzy to stay out for too long and one time he’d passed out. Tsukishima remembers they’d been having a team reunion and everyone had panicked when Hinata just lay still in the park.

Sugawara had already snapped open his phone to call for an ambulance and Yachi (who had been the closest to Hinata) had nearly fainted as she yelled out that Hinata wasn’t breathing. Tsukishima had just grabbed Hinata, and he was glad he kept a semi-regular workout routine because otherwise picking up his limb boyfriend would have been nearly impossible, and told the others he just needed to cool off indoors for a moment, I’ll be right back

He’d managed to help wake Hinata with a bit of blood and after that, everyone decided that the next time they met, being outdoors for too long would be a bad idea

As for the garlic, that was one of the earliest examples that proved “deadly vampire items” were not exactly accurate.

But Tsukishima wondered, what about turning others? He was afraid to ask. What if that wasn’t true either? Or, he felt a churning in his gut every time he thought about this, what if Hinata didn’t want Tsukishima in his life for that long?

---

Tsukishima’s sleep is restless so when Hinata starts to move his fingers along his arm, he feels it and he’s instantly awake. But he doesn’t open his eyes. He keeps his eyes closed and enjoys the feeling of Hinata’s cold touch. Tsukishima is still holding onto one of Hinata’s hands and when he feels Hinata move closer, he knows that Hinata has noticed he’s awake. Tsukishima opens his eyes to see Hinata only inches away from him. He’s smiling and they kiss good morning

“How did you sleep?” Hinata asks quietly. He’s so quiet that Tsukishima wonders if maybe he imagined it.

Tsukishima’s body feels tired. He wants to stretch and see if anything pops, if it will help him relax. His body is too tense. But he also doesn’t want to move away from Hinata so instead, he says, “Okay.”

Hinata is watching him and Tsukishima knows he can see the lies. Hinata moves up to touch the bags under his eyes, touches his pale skin, and caresses his damp hair. He only notices it now

Tsukishima closes his eyes again for a moment.

Hinata has been here too long.

Hinata has been here for ten years and people are starting to comment on his appearance more and more. It’s not entirely strange for someone in their supposed late twenties to still look young, but soon it will be apparent that something isn’t right. And soon Tsukishima will start to look older than the boy who has been stuck at twenty-five for hundreds of years. It will be obvious, so Hinata had started the process

Tsukishima had seen some of the photographs and decorations disappear from where they belonged. He’d seen Hinata’s usual messy clothes in their shared closet become neater. Some clothes folded and packed too meticulously. He’d been home for a few weeks too. He’s sure Hinata has quit his job

Hinata has also stopped asking for food. Hinata doesn’t have to eat and his body doesn’t reject the food (as long as he takes care and has enough blood circulating in his system, Hinata functions as a normal human would), but he’s always loved sharing meals with Tsukishima. Now he’s only seen Hinata snack on a few things.

It has also been a week since he last fed from Tsukishima.

He wonders if this is Hinata’s way of slowly removing himself from Tsukishima’s life. He wonders how Hinata even managed to get inside so deeply.

Tsukishima wonders if this is Hinata’s answer to the many times he’s implied he wants forever with him.

He feels Hinata shift in bed again and then he’s being hugged, Hinata’s small hands rubbing his back. He’s half laying atop Hinata and he wants to tell him to get away, but if this is what he’ll be left with, he wants it all. He grips Hinata tightly and they both lie there as the birds sing outside and the sun finishes its ascent.

Hinata clears his throat and Tsukishima realizes that lying like this, he can’t see Hinata’s face, his eyes, and from how wobbly he speaks, his tears, “Kei, it’s time you know.”

Tsukishima doesn’t say anything, let’s Hinata continue.

“I’ve never stayed this long you know,” he’s not trying to hide the fact he’s crying, “Ten years is a lot in my time. People grow and change a lot in that time, but…but I like it here. I like the kids at the school, they’ve been practicing so hard for their next match, and I like to see K-Kageyama huff and even smile when we beat his team.” Hinata’s hand stops rubbing Tsukishima’s back, opting to just stay in place

“And whenever we can meet up with the team. Yachi also called me the other day. She’s having twins, did you know that?”

He did. Yamaguchi had been so happy and scared that he’d called Tsukishima as soon as he’d heard the news.

“But you know why I didn’t leave?” they shift again and Tsukishima feels a messy kiss on his forehead. He moves to kiss Hinata and is surprised and glad at the desperation they both share at that moment. Tsukishima is breathless when they finally part and Hinata is looking at him like he also wants forever with him, “It’s because you’re here. I don’t want to leave. I don’t want to leave you. Ever.”

Hinata cries into him and Tsukishima wants the same thing, but neither of them knows how to make this come true. Hinata has rarely encountered any other vampires and he doesn’t remember how he came to be in this state. He just remembers…being.

Tsukishima isn’t the type for mushy talk but he grabs Hinata’s face and finally lets his feelings flow, “We can find a way. And if we can’t, ” he swallows the lump in his throat, because that is always a possibility, and if ten years have passed by so quickly, he’s afraid of how fast the rest of his life will go, “If we can’t…then let’s just enjoy what we have. Together.”

He kisses Hinata, “You don’t have to go alone this time. Be selfish. Ask me to go with you.”

---

When they finally manage to get out of bed, the apartment starts to become cold. Decorations are taken off the walls, the refrigerator, the shelves. When Hinata moves, he tries not to take anything with him. It helps alleviate the pain of leaving people behind, but this time Tsukishima is coming with him.

They don’t have to start from zero

---

A/N:

OMG this story was TORTURE

I actually had a few ideas when it came to these two but then I was sleeping (restlessly) and randomly thought, what if Hinata were a vampire?? And since there was recently that TsukkiHina or Tsukishima magic week (or something) and my giftee's likes included some fantasy elements I was like why not? And of course, DA ANGST, which my giftee also listed

Watch me cry over what I wrote

Also, I usually like writing OMAKE in the end notes, please let me know if that's something you guys would like. I kind of didn't automatically do it this time because uhm, I was too busy crying so (esp aliquoten) if you want a little something extra, lmk, I kind of already have something in mind

I hope you all enjoyed~

Gift for Daiyanerd: Miyuki Kazuya. Always cool and collected. Has a great side profile. Good at baseball. Well, no, great is the correct word. (sofa’21)

Moratorium

Read on Ao3

ONE

Miyuki Kazuya

Always cool and collected. Has a great side profile. Good at baseball. Well, no, great is the correct word. Even when he sometimes messes up some of the smaller plays. Reliable. Daring. Funny. Charming. Has probably had a dozen girlfriends, or maybe not. Nobody has been able to get any concrete answer on that one question, but he's definitely a lady's man, his fan club primarily consisting of girls and women that claim they would leave their current lives just to marry him if he so much as hinted interest. Or at least that's what many of the magazines, both sports and gossip ones say about him

Not to be too full of himself, but Kazuya thinks that much of what they say has some foundation. Yeah, people like Yoichi and Jun know better but he has to agree that his catching skills are unparalleled. He might also really like sending magazine covers with blown up images of his smiling (smirking) face to Yoichi just to get a scathing reply or an angry call. His only response is his lady killer (annoying) laugh

He knows he's always being watched by someone, but it completely slips his mind that anything could go wrong on that day

The headlines are brutal and he's gotten many messages and calls from his friends. He hasn't really answered because, well, he hasn't been able to. But he knows what they're saying. He's laying at the hospital with bandages covering most of his torso. He has a sense of deja vu, having been in a similar position when he'd been in high school, but this is much, much worse. Something happened and everyone is scrambling to find out what

Everyone except Rei, who has been detained. The tabloids are lapping this up like it's the sip of water they've finally been allowed after being stuck in a desert for months. Except that they're ruining the lives of the people Kazuya loves the most

He sees different news channels trying to get interviews from the few people that make up his friends. They want to know about Rei from high school. They've dug up her whole life's story and put it on full blast. They want to know about Kazuya, as if they haven't already told all there is to say, invented and created his whole career. They talk about how Rei pretty much scouted him from a very young age. The same women that claim they would do anything for Kazuya have turned razer sharp, claiming that "they knew it all along" and that Rei "had it coming"

They all twist the information for entertainment and Kazuya closes his eyes, disgusted at what they say about her.

There had been an accident. His car had been hit and he knows he needed surgery. Later they found out it was all a setup and he went from being one of the richest people and baseball players in Japan to having nothing. His career may as well be over. It will take too long for him to recover. Games won't wait.

Kazuya throws the remote in his hand and wants to tell them all its lies. He knows Rei would never do something like this. She's smart. It doesn't make sense. As much as Rei will follow a gut instinct, especially if it's about recruiting potential, it's always based on logic. There is no logic here.

His name flashes on multiple headlines and all he wants to scream is no, I didn't she say she stole my money!

The machines connected to his body have been beeping for a while now and finally, nurses and doctors run in. They try to get him to calm down but all he can do is repeat It wasn't her! It wasn't her! Rei would never! Tell them to stop!

Soon he feels drowsy and he realizes he's been sedated.

Before he closes his eyes he sees a picture of Rei next to the news anchor. Her hair is down, her eyes look haunted, but her posture is proud. She's not in her usual suit. Instead, she's wearing that dreaded green top, almost drowning her, making her pale skin paler. She doesn't look right. It's not the Rei he knows. The Rei he owes everything to.

He feels the tears burn his eyes.

----

TWO.

It takes a little over a year for things to "settle" down, but once the storm is over, everything is ruined.

Kazuya still manages to get his face blown up on magazine covers, but this time it's for a different reason. He's now considered a victim and he hates the images of him being wheeled out of the hospital. Of the tabloids somehow getting a shot of his bloodshot eyes, his pale skin, and his hunched shoulders. He wishes his attorney had allowed Kazuya to do something, but everything was too precarious, we have to be careful. Careful of what? He can no longer play baseball. He was already pushing the age of acceptability, only being allowed to continue contracts because he was so good, was still quick, was dedicated in mind, body, and soul to the game. But now he was injured, would be in rehab, and nobody knew if he'd still be able to move as great as before. Nobody would take that risk

Rei is finally released, but her life is ruined too. Hers is worse than Kazuya's will ever be. Not just because she's the supposed mastermind of the accident and subsequent disappearance of his capital, but because she's a woman. It's made him sick how she's been torn apart and left behind. She had already been forcefully (through great results) making her own space at the table. This was just the excuse to make her disappear. Nobody wanted a criminal as their associate. The label was tarnished and it would take time to rebuild their name. "Apologies" had been passed around, but nobody would take the risk of allowing her space again

Nobody thought to ask her side of the story, to reach out and help. She was alone. Nobody could legally take what she's rightfully earned, but they can pile fines upon fines. She is "free to go" but they have severely limited what she can do.

It only makes sense that she finally retires. Kazuya goes to see her with the Seidou team. He breaks when he finally sees what they've done to her, all in "his name", to "protect him". Rei is strong, logical, smart, but she can't help but allow herself to show a bit of emotion at that moment. She wipes away at Kazuya's face, "There's nothing left for me here and there's no use crying. The only way to go now is forward."

Chris recommends that Kazuya go to the same rehab facility he went to in America.

Kazuya doesn't want to leave. It feels like admitting defeat, like running away, like he's abandoning his friends.

Yoichi grits his teeth, tells Kazuya he wants to punch him for being so stupid, "But hitting an injured person isn't my style, even though it's YOU."

There is little progress on his health, both physical and mental, and then Yoichi, who has been singlehandedly taking care of him whenever he has a moment to spare, nearly begs him, "Kazuya, please. Go. Don't let this defeat you. I don't want to admit it but I miss seeing that stupidly smug look on your face. Remember what Rei said. You have to keep moving forward!"

He can't help but laugh one night when he can't sleep, Yoichi's words and his concerned face plaguing his mind. He can't believe he almost let this defeat him. He can't believe he was down enough to force his best friend to make such a face, to make him cry for his sake. He feels like he's let everyone down, especially Rei.

He calls Chris a few days later.

Before leaving, he logs into his Twitter account, which, like any other media source, he's been avoiding for the past year. Someone has obviously logged in and cleared his notifications and as his last stand, no first, because even now "they have to be careful", Kazuya quote RTs an article he hasn't even read, but he doesn't need to. He chooses it because it has one of those headlines. He presses send and logs out.

I NEVER said she stole my money.

----

THREE.

It's two years when he finally comes back to Japan. His rehab had ended months ago but there was a part of him that had been afraid to come back. He's sure Yoichi had sensed it, which is why he'd pretty much dragged him back.

He remembers the conversation they had. It had been really late in Japan, he's sure that Yoichi was on the verge of passing out, could hear every yawn he tried to hide, but he wouldn't let Kazuya hang up, "I'm not hanging up until you agree."

Kazuya sighs, "There's nothing for me to do out there anyway. Here, I've been helping at the hospital."

"But you don't even like that kind of stuff! I bet you're bored out of your mind," Yoichi countered, and Kazuya has to admit that he's not exactly wrong. He misses the excitement from the diamond, feeling the burn on his thighs as he squats behind the batter, signaling different plays to his catchers, the feel of the ball as it lands perfectly in his gloved palm, the roar of the crowd as they once more strikeout another enemy batter. But he can't have any of that. This year Kazuya turns 30 and he has become stiff. He can't move as dexterously as before.

He hears some shuffling on the other end, as if Yoichi is changing positions on his bed, "Look. Not many people know this but...this is actually my last year playing."

Kazuya freezes at that. He knows Yoichi is still keeping up with his own records, has won his team countless matches for his boldness, knows they would never want to let him go. He briefly fears that maybe an injury is involved but shakes his head. No, Yoichi would tell him if that's the case, so then, "Why?"

"That's why I called and I need you to come back," there's another pause, not long, "I'm getting married."

Kazuya blanks out for a moment and then stops what he's doing altogether (he turns off the stove, he'd been making breakfast but this is more important. Besides, he had almost been done), "Married? Did you kidnap some poor girl? I haven't even heard of you dating."

"KAZUYA," he hears Yoichi yell, "I didn't kidnap anyone! And that's because my PR team has been making sure to keep things tightly sealed, and I guess we also haven't been able to see each other much too." That last part is mumbled but Kazuya catches it anyway.

Kazuya hums, still disbelieving, but only slightly. He knows Yoichi wouldn't kid about something like this so if he says he's getting married, he's getting married, "Congratulations then. Not sure how someone found you husband material, but they do say there's a type for everyone. How'd you meet her?"

"You are such a dick," Yoichi hisses, "How are we still even friends?"

Kazuya sometimes wonders the same thing. Yoichi has been with him at his best and worst and has never given up on him. He laughs, "My great personality?"

Yoichi snorts right before laughing, "Yeah right. Anyway, so I met this guy-"

"A husband?" Kazuya cuts him off, genuinely curious, but also can't help but tease, "You hid it so well with all those magazines. I'm sure nobody suspected. No wonder your team is doing such a great job at hiding this."

Yoichi yells into the phone, "Let me finish asshole! No! It's not a guy, her name is Wakana! And she's the childhood friend of this guy I met!"

Kazuya makes a tsk noise, "Yoichi, did you steal her from this guy? Are you a homewrecker?"

Instead of getting mad, Yoichi snorts, "As if. Can you believe Wakana was actually in love with Sawamoron for years and he didn't realize."

Kazuya adds, "So you seduced her?" before Yoichi can continue with the story.

"No? I mean, I'm not sure," but they both know that Yoichi probably couldn't seduce anyone even if he tried. Charmed, yes, but outright seduce? And a girl he liked? Very unlikely, "But she'd been tired of waiting and so I met her after she'd confessed and he rejected her."

"Hmm," Kazuya interrupts again, "So you took advantage when she was down. That makes more sense. She was probably so down about being rejected she would have said yes to anyone. Sadly that someone was you."

Yoichi is flabbergasted, "Take advantage?! MIYUKI, that's not- I'd never - just let me finish!"

Kazuya laughs, "Ok, ok. So how did you meet her? I won't interrupt again."

Just like that, Yoichi calms down and Kazuya notes the happiness in his voice as he laughs, not at Kazuya, but at something, the memory perhaps, and Kazuya is slightly jealous. He's not sure at what or who.

"So this kid, Sawamura, we were going to meet up at the park. He had something to tell me, but then I see him running after this girl, yelling about money or something. So I cut her off-"

Kazuya can't help but laugh, "Y-Yoichi, did you, did you attack the poor girl?"

"Didn't you say you weren't going to interrupt?!" Yoichi screeches, but he starts laughing a bit too, "And no, I didn't attack her but, well..."

There's a groan on the other end and Kazuya can imagine his best friend blushing to the tips of his ears, "I pulled her by the arm and she was surprised, but then she did something and next thing I know I'm on the ground, looking up at her and Sawamura is laughing like he's seen the most hilarious thing ever!"

He wonders if that kid was laughing as hard as he is now. He feels the tears tickling his eyes, his cheeks hurt, and he feels the force of his laugh pulling on his stomach, "I already like the girl. What happened next?"

Yoichi lets him laugh but his voice is annoyed, not at him he notes, but at what happens next, "So Sawamoron comes up finally and he knows the girl and I'm confused and just got thrown to the ground by a girl that doesn't even reach my chin, and I ask him why he was yelling about a thief, because that's what he was doing."

More shifting on Yoichi's end, "And you know what he said to me?"

"What?"

"He goes "I never said she stole my money!" so I knock him over the head because yeah, he's right, he was YELLING IT. Everyone in the goddamn park heard it! Made him buy me dinner and everything."

Kazuya feels a lump in his throat but pushes it aside, he turns the stove on again to finish preparing his breakfast, "I guess for Wakana I can go back. When's the wedding? And will I be your best man?"

----

FOUR.

Kazuya hasn't even been home a month when Yoichi walks into his apartment with their old Seidou team. Everyone seems to be there, even the first years like Ryo's little brother and Furuya. There really isn't anything Kazuya can do but move aside so that everyone can come inside. At the end of the group, right after the first years enter, he spots someone he doesn't know. A kid with unruly brown hair, brown eyes, and tanned skin who looks slightly nervous. His posture is too stiff but he's also looking around curiously.

Yoichi notices Kazuya looking at him and comes over for introductions. He pulls the kid into a side hug, "Kazuya, this is Sawamura, Wakana's friend."

Kazuya looks him over. He's heard a few things about him from Yoichi, "So this is Sawamoron?" he teases. He can't help the lift of his lips as the kid splutters in indignation.

A high pitched, "Kuramochi-senpai! You can't call me that anymore, we're practically family now!"

Yoichi howls, slapping the kid on the back, "You're always going to be a moron Sawamura, hyahaha!"

Sawamura grits his teeth for a second before standing up straight, stretching out his hand towards Kazuya, "Good afternoon, It's a pleasure to meet you! My name is Sawamura Eijun! Thank you for inviting me!!"

Kazuya looks at the outstretched hand for a moment before he doubles over laughing. Sawamura let's out another unidentified sound before yelling, "That's so rude Miyuki Kazuya!!" but he hasn't dropped his arm.

Kazuya takes a breath, isn't surprised he knows his name (briefly wonders if he knows who he is), right before taking that tanned hand into his own. Sawamura's hold is firm, if a bit sweaty, nerves probably, "Well, as you so clearly let my neighbors know, my name is Miyuki Kazuya." He pauses, "And I didn't invite you."

Sawamura pales slightly, looks over to Yoichi who just makes a rude noise, "Really Kazuya? You have to be a dick right off the bat?"

Kazuya only smiles brightly, finally letting go of the kid's hand, looks around his house, and says, "Actually, I didn't invite any of you over. Why are you all here?"

The others have already settled into his kitchen and, he peers through the doorway, there are bottles of coke and beer and the smell of oily pizza in the air. Jun has already made himself at home on his couch, a paper plate with a pizza on it. He's halfway into that slice and Kazuya doesn't know why Jun didn't just take an extra slice or two with him before settling down. Ryo and Haruichi are putting things in his fridge. He realizes now how empty his fridge must have been. He had been meaning to go grocery shopping but he supposes he hadn't had the energy to go. Kanemaru is clearing up some of the boxes he had yet to unbox, reading the labels Chris had helped him write, and arranging them accordingly.

He knows that many of these guys are still part of the leagues, wonders how they managed to take a moment to raid his home (notices a few faces are missing, like Yuki but he would have been REALLY surprised if they'd managed to get him to come over). He remembers how they'd made it a routine to visit him when they were at Seidou, knowing he could get lost in strategizing and numbers quickly. He feels a penetrating gaze and turns to see the new kid watching him intently. Kazuya can't help the grin that grows on his face and it's finally starting to feel like home.

He motions the two in, "Well, you may as well come in. Everyone is already inside. Feel free to raid my fridge and make a mess in my new kitchen."

Yoichi laughs, pulling Sawamura inside with him. The kid still looks slightly off-balance, but he sits next to the first years like he belongs and he wonders why this picture looks so right.

Yoichi dives in for the last slice of pepperoni pizza just as Sawamura is about to reach for it and then loudly exclaims, "Hey Kazuya, wanna hear something funny?"

Kazuya has already grabbed his own plate and he wonders how he missed all of these pizza boxes when they first came inside. He grabs one with sausage and mushroom, "Hm?"

"So while we were getting the pizza, we sent Sawamura to go get the drinks, right?"

Sawamura, who had just taken a drink from his can of soda, instantly spits it out and Kazuya is both intrigued and disgusted as he sees the drink mixed with spit cover his table, "Kuramochi-senpai, don't!"

He sees Kanemaru chuckling and Jun roars from the living room. Apparently, there were many witnesses to this apparently funny story. Haruichi pats Sawamura's back softly while the kid's face glows red. Kazuya is momentarily worried he might faint but then curiosity wins out, "Oh?"

Yoichi and he share a look, "Get this, we all gave him our share, right? So he goes in and comes back all mad, saying we didn't give him the right amount, but then, but then," It seems the rest of it is too funny for Yoichi to continue because he starts laughing and he notices Sawamura cover his face. He mumbles something but Kazuya doesn't catch it.

Ryo helps him out. He's also amused, a smirk on his face, "The girl stole his change."

Sawamura uncovers his face and yells, "I never said she stole my money!"

There's a moment of silence before...

Jun. He'd come back into the kitchen to get more pizza, "Who else could it have been? Had to be the girl at the counter, or did you just give up your money?"

Kuramochi, "Easy prey, how you're even a teacher is beyond me."

Kanemaru, "Wait. So it wasn't the cashier?"

Even Kazuya can't help but ask, laughter tickling his words, "Emphasis on "she"?"

Sawamura seems to realize his error and covers his face again. He's mumbling again but instead of being annoyed by the bad habit, Kazuya thinks it's almost cute.

"Haruichi?" Ryo questions and Sawamura uncovers his face to yell, "Onii-san! That's not fair! Haruichi you can't tell, you promised!"

Haruichi is looking back and forth between them, "Well..."

Then Furuya explains all, "He was flirting with the delivery guy."

It somehow gets even louder inside his house and Kazuya can't believe he thought of not returning. It's true that his baseball career is over, but this is where his family is at. This is where his life is truly at. He laughs until the tears in his eyes fall.

They spend hours getting him up to speed on gossip.

----

FIVE.

Even though he's only known Sawamura for a few days, maybe weeks, he's the one that keeps Kazuya company the most. And there's a big reason for that named Kuramochi Yoichi. Even though, or perhaps because, it's nearing the end of his contract, Yoichi gets busier. There are some rumors as to why he's finally leaving baseball, but just like he'd told Kazuya, everything is still under wraps. There are no incriminating photos and no face to put to those rumors jealous girls spread online. Kazuya wonders how things will turn out once Yoichi fesses up but until then, Sawamura becomes his shadow

One, he's not bound to such a strenuous schedule (Yoichi told him Sawamura is the grade school teacher at one of the local schools not far from Kazuya's new place. His new house is conveniently placed so close because it will soon be Kazuya's new workplace and they just happen to be on break now), and second...well, Kazuya's not sure. Yoichi didn't want to tell him. Not exactly

He remembers the last time he actually met up with his best friend.

Yoichi had invited him over for dinner and Sawamura had come up somehow (Kazuya comes to realize that Sawamura comes up in their lives very often). Yoichi had been contemplative. They'd just finished watching a movie and were just sitting there in the dark, the credits rolling.

"You know. If Sawamura had actually been interested in Wakana...I don't think I'd have ever had a chance with her. There's just something about him...he's so..." Yoichi makes vague hand movements, "you know?"

Kazuya laughs and wonders if this is what best men have to deal with with their to-be grooms. Jitters, he's heard them called, but he was sure this feeling was supposed to happen days before the wedding, not so far ahead when there wasn't even a date finalized, "Already second-guessing the married life?"

Yoichi doesn't even take the bait. He just sighs and leans back on the couch, "No, I'm serious. There's just something about Sawamura, he's so honest and hardworking. I can see why Wakana liked him."

"Careful, or I might start to think you actually want to marry Sawamura instead."

Yoichi kicks him halfheartedly, "Dumbass."

Their feet are still touching and Yoichi nudges him, "He's a good kid you know."

Kazuya leans out to grab his drink from the low table, takes a sip, "He does seem like it. Although he's a bit..." He tries to find the right word. Dense? Airheaded? No..."innocent?"

Yoichi laughs, "Yes! The stories I could tell you."

It gets quiet and Kazuya enjoys it. It's been years since the two of them have done something like this.

Yoichi breaks the silence again, "You know...Rei actually tried scouting him."

Kazuya takes another swig of his drink, deep, and tries to wash away the feelings of guilt. He hasn't spoken to Rei since the incident. Hasn't really asked about her although he knows she's ok, thanks to Chris

But he's curious now. If Rei had been interested in him then he was undoubtedly good talent, "What happened?"

Yoichi scoffs, "The idiot turned her down! Said he didn't need any fancy schools to play baseball."

Kazuya can't help the snort he lets out into his drink. He hasn't known Sawamura long but he can somehow imagine the face he'd make, how loud he would yell that statement with conviction, "Too bad." He's sure Sawamura could have been someone if he'd come to Seidou and he somehow feels cheated of something

"What position?"

"Pitcher, a southpaw, nasty throw," Yoichi grips his cup tightly. He looks over at him, "He's not a professional but he does still play."

It's a subtle nudge that Kazuya ignores.

Which is probably why he finds Sawamura so often on his doorstep.

Today he's managed to wrangle Kazuya out of his house, but only because it's work-related. The summer heat isn't terrible today so the two decide to walk and even though it's not that far, Kazuya finds himself lightly perspiring. Perhaps he's let himself go more than he thought, and he begins planning a timetable to get his fitness in a better state. Meanwhile, Sawamura is all smiles

"Hurry up Miyuki Kazuya!" He's already at the side door, opening it with his staff key, and Kazuya wonders if they should even be here. There are hardly any cars parked outside and the school is obviously void of children. Classes don't start until next week

"You don't have to call me by my full name," Kazuya tells him as he enters the building. Sawamura slides past him after closing the door, making sure it locks properly, "You can call me Miyuki-senpai."

"What?!" Sawamura's voice echoes in the hallway, "Why should I call you that?!"

"Because you're younger," he pats Sawamura's head and grins, "And smaller."

He slaps his hand away, a blush on his face, "I'm not small! And you're not even that much taller!!"

He stands closer to Kazuya and points at the few centimeters difference between them. Kazuya pushes him back, "Miyuki-senpai."

Sawamura just rolls his eyes and continues walking, "You really do have a terrible personality Miyuki Kazuya!"

Kazuya just laughs, "Thanks!"

"Not a compliment!" Sawamura yells and then points to the rooms in the hall they're in, "I'm usually here with the kids. Since the school isn't that big you'll probably get kids as young as eight and as old as thirteen in your class too, since you're the only gym teacher until Kuramochi-senpai gets married."

Kazuya nods, "Ok, Sawamura...sensei."

Kazuya notes how easy it is to rile up Sawamura. How his face will quickly turn red and his lips will form pouts or grimaces, his body reacting so honestly so quickly. Now he brings up his hands to cover his ears as he yells, "Don't call me that!!"

"Then stop calling me by my full name, it's weird."

"MIYUKI KA-"

Kazuya somehow manages to raise his voice enough to speak over Sawamura, "So Sawamura-sensei, where do the kids go out to play? Sensei?"

Sawamura looks like he's about to burst and goes off yelling. Miyuki follows him, laughing, their voices echoing in tandem

They end up outside behind the school somewhere. Even though it's small, Kazuya is impressed by how well maintained it is. There is a small playground to the side, which has been recently repainted, signs marking the walls and tape clearly discouraging anyone from touching. The mats at the bottom look worn but not in bad shape. Then there is a track that circles what looks like enough field to be a neighborhood. Most of it is empty and Sawamura's talking about how sometimes the kids will go out there and play soccer or volleyball or really whatever sports they need that requires a lot of space. The only place that looks like it truly has a defined purpose is the baseball field.

He feels excited and scared at the same time, wants to run to home plate, to feel the dirt path against his feet, crouch, and take in the view. But he also thinks this is a bad idea. Maybe he shouldn't have come here, shouldn't have accepted the job. He knows why they want him, why they're willing to wait a year for Yoichi to come and teach. He's not sure if he can take the pressure

"Miyuki-senpai," he turns to Sawamura, who is pouting.

He's not sure why he feels himself calm down, perhaps it's because he'll take any distraction, even if it's loud Sawamura, or maybe it's because Sawamura looks ridiculous with his cheeks puffed out and his eyebrows scrunched up between his eyes. Kazuya smiles. It hurts a bit to do so, "Is this all just for the little gremlins? Lucky them, I didn't have something so big at my disposal when I was at school."

Sawamura suddenly inflates as he grins, "Yeah me neither! I'm from the countryside from a school even smaller than this! Wakana and I had to go to the other side of town with our friends if we wanted to play baseball. That's sort of what it's like here too. We share with some of the other schools and really anyone is welcome to come here as long as the kids aren't out playing."

"Wakana, huh," Kazuya notes. He hasn't actually met the bride-to-be yet, "Is she in the habit of taking people's money?"

Sawamura looks confused and perhaps a bit upset, "What?"

Kazuya only smirks, "I heard how Yoichi met her."

Understanding fills his eyes and he groans, "I keep telling Kuramochi-senpai not to tell that story! It's all lies! Lies! Come on, let's go to the gym, your to-be base."

They head back inside and Kazuya feels the smile that spreads on his face is lighter, amused. It's relaxing being with Sawamura, "So what, she wasn't stealing your money?"

"No!" Sawamura defends, "I never said she stole my money! It was all a misunderstanding!!"

"So what? She was just borrowing it?" Kazuya pushes and can't help but laugh as Sawamura goes red.

"I-It, my, NO! She just grabbed my wallet!! But she wasn't stealing it!"

----

SIX.

Kazuya hasn't been teaching for long when it's time to prepare for Sports Day and he forgets how tiring it can be. Sawamura is ecstatic the whole week leading up to the moment all the kids are let loose to run and play, and he's not sure how the flow of energy works, who feeds off who, but everyone seems to be ready to burst with enthusiasm by then. Kazuya feels like he's the only one who is burnt out. He's not usually used to so much happening, at least not like this

The school asks him to give an encouraging speech before the event begins, which Sawamura jealously admits had been his job the last two years, but he grins all the same. He encourages him to do his best, just like he does to the children and Kazuya isn't sure if he should be offended or glad when he feels the flat of Sawamura's palm on his back.

By then, Yoichi has finally wrapped things up with his team. He still has a few more interviews scheduled, but he's essentially removed himself (as much as he can) from the public eye. He's announced he's going to get married and has been asked many times about his to-be wife, but just like Kazuya, everyone is kept in the dark. On the few nights Yoichi manages to call him, to check up on him, Kazuya teases that maybe this is the most elaborate plan he's ever seen, that maybe this Wakana girl doesn't even exist

Yoichi just laughs, "What? Is The Great Miyuki Kazuya actually curious?"

Kazuya scoffs, "Of course not, and don't call me that. I can't get Sawamura to stop, I don't want you doing the same. It's so weird."

They talk until they're both ready to pass out but Yoichi tells him he'll be there and that he'll bring Wakana too. There's something strange with the way he says this but it's late, they've both been up for too long, and Kazuya doesn't remember the unease the next day

He doesn't remember until Sports Day, right before it happens.

It's usually a big event with parents and friends and the neighborhood coming by to see all their children perform at their best. This school is slightly different because of its size. It isn't just their kids (as Sawamura likes to say and Kazuya, reluctantly, has started to call his students), but a few students from two or three of the neighboring smaller schools. He's never seen the field so packed with kids. There are also a lot of cameras and flashing and suddenly Kazuya feels uncomfortably warm. This year it's not only locals that are here. He can see various news channels documenting the event and there are probably other labels walking around, trying to figure out what the next scoop will be. Or perhaps they've already been hinting at it but Kazuya has been avoiding all the gossip. He briefly wonders if they're here for him and while this might be slightly true, he's sure they're more likely to be here to catch a glimpse of Yoichi and Wakana

He decides to stick with Sawamura for most of the day.

Sawamura seems to be oblivious to all the attention, focusing on the kids, high-fiving everyone who is going to race, yelling encouragements as they pass him by, and yelling out happily as the kids make the baskets and reach the finish lines. Kazuya tries to show his support as well and Sawamura drags him from one event to the next. The parents love him as much as the children do. He briefly wonders if Sawamura will have any voice left for the next day

It's around the time the kids finally get their break for lunch (and that Sawamura pulls him over to an empty patch of grass so that they can finally rest as well, how Kazuya was able to crouch for hours on end before is almost a mystery to him now, he really HAS let himself go) that he starts to hear them

"I didn't say she stole MY money. Did you really not know?" "Is she REALLY here? "The NERVE of her." "We should tell the principal to kick her out. Where is she?"

Everything starts to go quiet as Kazuya looks around. There are too many people around, but he manages to find her by the fence behind the diamond. She's looking right at him and Kazuya feels himself stop breathing for a moment. He isn't sure what he was expecting but she looks exactly like she did three years ago, except somehow better. Her hair is up in her typical bun, she's wearing a pink button-up with her trademark pencil skirt. There's a small coat hanging off her arm, which is the only sign he has that she plans to stay for the whole of the day's events.

He gets up, ignores Sawamura's confused, "Miyuki-senpai?" and goes to meet her.

He remembers how Yoichi had sounded over the phone the other day and realizes that when he said her, he hadn't meant Wakana, he had meant Rei. She's smiling at him and once they're close enough, she says, "Miyuki Kazuya, it's been a long time, hasn't it?"

"Rei," he all but whispers and he notices people are looking, the cameras are pointing in their direction and he smiles. He's so happy and relieved to see her. He wonders why he hadn't tried contacting her before, where the guilt and fear have gone. He thanks Yoichi, will thank him later as well, for always doing things like this for him, I'm the worst friend, aren't I? He can already see Yoichi's annoyed face as he threatens to punch him if he says anything so stupid again. He laughs, "It's been way too long. I'm sorry."

He finally has the chance to really apologize for everything, to offer his support, to ask how she's been doing, and he marvels at how Seidou is truly a family. His old teammates haven't just been trying to get him to move forward, they have also been helping Rei regain a semblance of her old life.

When they part, it turns into a game. They both know how things will go so they are bold, they grin, and take each other's hands in a firm shake.

"I'm sure I'll be seeing you on the field in the future." It's not a question.

"Of course." It's a promise.

At the end of the day, Sawamura and he are the last to leave the school since Sawamura offered to stay and clean up (and with him Kazuya). The sun is already on the verge of setting and Kazuya can't wait to take a bath and then crawl into bed. He doesn't want to wake up until a week from now.

As they're walking home (or really walking to his house because even now, he's never really asked where Sawamura lives, he imagines not far), Kazuya notices how quiet Sawamura is. He bumps his side with his shoulder, "Lost your voice with all that yelling?"

Sawamura looks over at him and shakes his head. Kazuya is momentarily mesmerized by this side of Sawamura. Quiet, almost shy. He's not pouting or angry, his features calm, slightly sharp on his handsome face. The remaining rays of the sun make his eyes look slightly gold and Kazuya wonders why he's suddenly noticing these things, "What's wrong then?"

The temperature had dropped enough that they were now comfortably wearing jerseys. Sawamura mumbles into the collar of his jersey and Kazuya is annoyed, but only slightly. It's that bad habit of Sawamura's and he wonders if he could tease those mumbled words out of him, is about to do that when Sawamura stops walking, closes his eyes, and yells out, "Do you like Miss Rei?!"

Kazuya is left speechless. At least that answers his other teasing question. Sawamura is as loud as always, "What?"

Sawamura opens his eyes, he's blushing and he can't seem to look him in the eye, "Well, there were those rumors...and then today...I mean, she's really pretty and just..." He goes quiet.

There's a lot here he wants to clear up, but he figures he should start with Sawamura's question, "No. At least, not really."

There's a question in those golden-brown eyes and Kazuya continues to explain, "I'm sure everyone on the baseball team liked her at one point. We were all teenagers and she's a really attractive woman, but that's it. Rei...she scouted me, believed that I could go far, pushed me, pretty much built my whole career. She's not really like my mom, not really an older sister...but yeah, like family."

They're both surprised by how honest he's been, which leads him to his own question, "Rumors? So you knew who I was. Is that why you called me by my full name?"

Sawamura looks embarrassed, "Yeah. I, I was curious about Seidou. I bet Kuramochi-senpai already told you about Rei and her coming to scout me?"

Kazuya nods.

They start walking again, "Well, I started seeing your name come up a lot. I always had trouble with my own catchers, I wasn't very good, sometimes my throws would go wild. I guess. I mean, they felt right, but Wakana, she was my main catcher, it was hard for her to catch them. Anyway, I started following your career. And just, well, then that happened and the rumors..."

They're quiet for a moment. Kazuya thinking back to how Yoichi had called Sawamura's pitch a nasty throw, the way Rei had pointed out Sawamura's staring while they talked and how Kazuya should catch for him, "When I saw him pitch, I knew you two would make a great battery. I knew you would be what could push him to greater heights, and that he would influence you too. All of Seidou. He has the heart of an Ace."

He's curious.

"Do you regret it?"

It's been a few minutes but Sawamura follows his question, turns to him, conviction in his burning eyes, "Never!"

----

SEVEN.

Kazuya finally gets to meet Wakana on his birthday. Yoichi tells him they're going out to celebrate at a fancy restaurant and he's not allowed to say no. Since he is the best man at their future wedding, he supposes it would be rude to not meet the bride-to-be so he pulls out one of his old suits, is relieved it still fits, and decides that's enough effort needed on his part. He also decides to forgo the tie and leaves the first two buttons undone. It's classy.

He's not surprised to see Sawamura also at the restaurant, and he's also not surprised to see him sporting a loud outfit. He's also wearing a suit but his shirt is a bright blue with baseball patterns, he's pulled up the suit jacket sleeves to his elbows (which, might he add, does not match his pants, but it somehow works), and he's actually wearing a tie. There's a girl trying to tame his hair but she soon gives up when Sawamura spots him and calls out, "Miyuki Kazu-mmyaa."

"Eijun!" the girl chides him, "We told you to be quiet!"

She's covering his mouth and let's go once he settles down. He rubs his hand through the back of his hair, ruining whatever work the girl must have done, "Sorry."

The girl shakes her head and turns to him, "So you're the famous Miyuki Kazuya, in the flesh."

Kazuya smiles, "And you must be the infamous money stealing Wakana."

They shake hands and Wakana laughs, "The one and only."

Yoichi comes up behind him, "Good, you're here. I thought I was going to have to send someone to drag you out of bed."

They're escorted to the back where they can dine in private. Yoichi walks in the back with him and Kazuya watches the way Sawamura's body faces Wakana even when they're walking. The way she pushes and holds his arm, laughs at what he says. The way that Sawamura lets her choose where she wants to sit and then makes space so that the table decorations aren't in her way. He sits across from her.

Yoichi whispers at him, "See what I mean?"

Kazuya doesn't need to see them interact to know why Wakana once liked Sawamura, but it definitely solidifies their closeness.

Wakana is very pretty. She has short hair that is slightly tinged with red, natural, she mentions when she sees him looking at her, "I get asked a lot." Apparently, it's a color she inherited from her great grandmother

She's as small as Yoichi claimed her to be, which makes her look tiny with her current company. She's wearing a simple and modest blue dress that matches perfectly with the ties Sawamura and Yoichi are wearing. She's just as honest as Sawamura is, and Kazuya wonders if all the people in his life are like that. It's refreshing. He instantly likes her and knows that Yoichi will be happy. It makes him happy too.

They're waiting on their food when Sawamura tells Yoichi that "Miyuki Kazuya" called Wakana a thief. Yoichi puts down his glass of wine, sending his best friend a glare, "I should have known you wouldn't behave!"

Sawamura is quick to respond, "It's all your fault Kuramochi-senpai! You keep telling that stupid story!!"

"The only thing stupid about that story is YOU Bakamura!!"

They look like children snapping at each other across the table and Wakana is just laughing. She turns to Kazuya, "Did he tell you what actually happened?"

Kazuya nods, "Sort of. Something about borrowing a wallet."

Wakana smiles, "Something like that, yes."

"See! I told you I never said she stole my money!!" Sawamura gets up suddenly but nobody notices the waiter coming with trays until the sound of plates falling to the ground and shattering are heard. But the worst part is probably the cake that Sawamura tries to save. Part of it lands on his hands, some of it on the table, but a big portion of it (thanks to Sawamura's interference), is now all over Wakana's dress. Everyone holds their breath, the waiter looks horrified.

Kazuya knows he shouldn't but he snickers and that seems to bring everything back to life. Wakana laughs and tells the waiter it's ok, she pats his hand reassuringly, "But can we get another cake? We'll pay for both of course."

The man is so relieved, he smiles and nods, and says he'll be right back to clean up, that he can also ask someone to help her out. Sawamura looks constipated and ridiculous standing there with chunks of cake in his hands.

"This is so coming out of your wallet Sawamoron!!" Yoichi cries out as he grabs chunks of cake from Wakana's lap and throws it on the table, "And YOU, I can't believe you did that!"

Kazuya only smirks, looks over at Wakana, and says, "Welcome to the family."

It seems like Wakana isn't just depleting Sawamura's accounts, but also stealing hearts.

----

OMAKE (months later)

It's the wedding night when Sawamura decides to crash at Kazuya's house. They're both exhausted and since they're both going to the same place the next morning, Kazuya doesn't make a fuss. When they make it home, they fight about who will take a shower first and Kazuya wins because, ultimately, this is his house so of course he has dibs. Sawamura pouts as he heads to the living room, ok, ok, just go you evil tanuki bastard.

When Kazuya comes out in a white t-shirt and boxers, he finds Sawamura already passed out on the couch, his arm and leg fallen off the side. He notices that he at least had the sense to take off his suit jacket and shirt. He's only wearing his undershirt and his pants have risen up his shins. Everything else is thrown against the back of the couch and his keys, cellphone, camera, and wallet, are all on the table. He's snoring lightly, his breath coming out more like little sighs, and there's a bit of drool where gravity has decided to do its job.

He's about to wake up Sawamura when he remembers something Wakana told him the first time they met. Right before they left the restaurant, she had pulled him aside, telling the other two NOT to come closer, Next time you get the chance, look inside his wallet. I promise it'll be worth it, and don't worry, he won't mind. He yells a lot but that's all there is.

The wallet is right there and Kazuya wishes it had landed the other way. At least like that, it wouldn't feel like he was snooping. No, he wouldn't. He doesn't really understand why Wakana wants him to look inside, but it's not really any of his business. He shakes his head and walks towards the couch. Before he can even reach forward, Sawamura shifts and mumbles a sleepy, "Kazuya."

Kazuya freezes at the stupid smile on Sawamura's face. He feels his face heat up and he's not sure why. He briefly glances at the wallet again, then moves to shake Sawamura's shoulders.

It takes a moment, a testament to how tired Sawamura is, before his brown eyes open and he sleepily mumbles, "Miyuki Kazuya?"

Kazuya hesitates for a moment. He doesn't have extra bedding and he knows sleeping on the couch is uncomfortable. They were going to share the bed, just like he always does whenever Yoichi visits, but suddenly he wonders if maybe this isn't a good idea. He tells Sawamura it's his turn to shower and nearly drags him to the bathroom. He stands outside just to make sure he doesn't pass out inside and somehow Sawamura looks even more drowsy than before. His skin is red from the heat of the water and they head to the bedroom.

Sawamura is out before his head hits the pillow. Kazuya arranges him on the bed properly and covers him with the blanket.

He finds it hard to sleep, the sound of his name coming from Sawamura's sleepy lips echoing in his head.

A/N:

I scoured Reddit for some inspiration and found this interesting prompt: "I never said she stole my money has 7 different meanings based on which word is emphasized." I sort of followed the prompt? LOL

things to note: 1. I just googled "prisoner clothes in japan" and green outfits came up, hence why Rei is dressed in a "green top" 2. I don't actually know how legal proceedings go in japan, if it would take longer or less (but this is fanfic so let's not question it) 3. Again, I don't know how long rehabs take but I'm not aiming for accuracy 4. If it wasn't obvious, Sawamura wasn't in the original Seidou team in this fic (lol) 5. Sports day apparently apparently happens around October (and again, Idk much about it)

I don't think I've ever written anything "complete" for this fandom but I hope you all enjoyed, especially you daiyanerd ^^

p.s. This got out of hand omg it's so long and hardly anything happens i hope you guys don't mind Orz Also, I kind of want to write more for this, maybe Sawamura's side of some of the events, maybe just a continuation, idk....

Gift for beowulf: “He wishes he’d ignored Sukuna when he’d been approached, wished he hadn’t been thinking with his dick, wishes Sukuna hadn’t been so fucking good in bed.” (JJK18+ Holiday Exchange)

On the Precipice

⚠️ Dub/non con, TG inspired, cannibalism, psychological, pwp ⚠️

Read on Ao3

Yuuji feels like he’s here and yet not.

It’s been a week since he turned, a week since he decided he wouldn’t eat another human, and in just one week he lost control. He wants to blame it on Sukuna. It’s his fault he has this new hunger, this insatiable appetite, but he knows there are people who are better. He briefly pictures Maki in his mind. He’d accidentally walked in on her having dinner one night, had run to the bathroom, and gagged at the macabre sight that he’d seen, but this…this was worse. At least she had been respectful enough, elegant, and had played the part of a human. How could he ever look her in the eyes and…

He groans and Sukuna laughs behind him, his thrusts becoming slower and harder, pushing him painfully into his dinner.

He wishes he’d ignored Sukuna when he’d been approached, wished he hadn’t been thinking with his dick, wishes Sukuna hadn’t been so fucking good in bed. Maybe he should have listened to Junpei when he mentioned Sukuna was not the type of creature - fuck, how could he have been so blind - to hang around with.

“What are you thinking so hard about?” It’s just a whisper, but it sounds so loud right next to his ear. It’s taunting and he doesn’t have to feel the way Sukuna’s lips curve up against his cheek to know he’s smirking, “Still thinking about that boy?”

He feels Sukuna’s teeth move along his neck, stopping at his pulse, kissing it so tenderly, right before diving in, not deep, but enough for him to feel the blood seep from his body. He should feel pain, should shout at Sukuna to fuck off but god, this is so addicting. Sukuna grunts and curses and drinks, and Yuuji can feel him throbbing inside him. How long have they been playing? He feels his legs burn, the sound of his pants dragging in tandem

He’s on a precipice. Not only on the verge of coming but also on the verge of losing a part of himself. He thinks of his grandfather but his image and words are blurred and muddled black, Sukuna’s grunts and sighs replacing them, the feeling of his abdomen tightening with every thrust, every lick, the smell, the taste…

“Go on Yuuji,” Sukuna purrs, slightly out of breath, “Don’t play with your dinner. It'll go cold soon.”

Yuuji’s hands, which he’d used to protect the people he loved, are now dyed red. They slip from the table he’s being fucked over with every thrust, forcing him to repeatedly find new purchase, forcing him to keep touching and digging and corrupting. He feels the wetness of the blood covering the surface, covering his abdomen, it's probably on his dick too, but there's no time to check. He hears the slap of bodies, but also the drops of life as it falls to the floor, the sound of flesh roughly pushed around the table. The smell is intoxicating. He’s sure his eyes are red, the whites turned pitch black.

“Ah fuck,” Sukuna groans as he picks up the pace and softens each thrust, drags it out, and Yuuji isn’t sure which he prefers more, the rough treatment or the teasing and rubbing, and fuck, Sukuna is so perfect, this is why he couldn't stay away, “You take me so well. That’s why I’m rewarding you, ugh. He was your favorite, right?”

Sukuna holds him, stops him from falling, but only just. Yuuji knows he wants to push, but savors his every reaction, likes it when he begs, “Su-Sukuna… more. ”

He pushes back, closes his eyes, wants to forget but Sukuna isn’t so accommodating.

Strong fingers grip his hair, push his head into the mess that used to be his friend. He can’t remember how it happened. One moment he’d been ravenous, the next he’d…he’d…Sukuna was there. He’d been laughing and Yuuji had been delirious and before he knew it, he'd been up against the table, Sukuna pushing into him.

He feels his face meet the surface of the table painfully, feels the texture of his first kill, warm still, fragrant…he’s drooling, he’s sure, and with each breath, the taste teases his senses.

He’s so close, so close…

“Come now Yuuji,” Sukuna whispers, “Are you really going to say no to me?”

And Yuuji complies.

A/N:

beowulf, i hope you enjoy this, happy holidays :>

tbh, i wasn't sure what i would write for you. your prompts were a little darker than i like so i was going to just take it easy with magic AU but then I started imagining and writing and omg, jjk bring out the worst in me?! like, no other fandom has me writing such corrupt content...and i kind of love it *goes and hides in a corner*

sorry to junpei but he was already dead in canon so i thought, may as well... (or you can imagine someone else, i was vague on purpose)

Gift for KaiAmLegend: “If there’s anything that Hinata enjoys about his “new” body, it’s how resilient it can be.” (HQ Secret Santa 2021)

Doctor’s Visit, Ch1

Read on Ao3

If there’s anything that Hinata enjoys about his “new” body, it’s how resilient it can be. He can withstand injuries that normal humans can’t, such as getting hit by a car. No, he’s not the type to test out his limitations, but one time he’d been heading home in the dark and his light had run out of charge. He would usually carry around a neon band but he’d forgotten to pack it that day and he’d been mostly wearing black. But nothing had ever happened before so he didn’t think too much about continuing his path.

I’ll just be careful, and not even fifteen minutes after he’d thought this, he’d been hit.

He remembers seeing the driver stop, his tires screeching, and then the sound of his panicked voice as he tried to find what he’d hit.

“Oh god, oh shit.”

Luckily, Hinata is very quick on his feet (although this used to be true back when he was alive too) and he’d been able to hide. It wouldn’t do to just sit up and smile with so much blood and a few broken bones (his neck, most importantly) incorrectly…aligned.

But that doesn’t mean he’s completely immune to death. He knows that with enough force, any vampire can die. He knows because those are the tales that circulate on this side.

The downside is that when injured, his injuries take forever to heal. Unless he drinks enough blood, but he’s kind of a vegetarian vampire. He mostly takes blood from animals, which mainly just help in tempering down his hunger, and occasionally, when he really needs to, takes from humans. And he does have a source but said source is very strict about when they give out human blood.

The thing about human blood is that, like in the stories, it’s addicting. He’s heard that some vampires, the ones that acquire a taste for it, purposefully harm themselves in order to receive it.

“Those idiots! What do they want us to do, drain humans? Then we’d all start getting hunted again!”

So the day that Hinata hits his head while playing with five-year-olds, he knows he’s in for a lot of pain. After all, he’d only just gotten his supply of human blood.

“Oh man, Kageyama is going to kill me!”

He doesn’t feel it at first. It’s just like any fall, and he’s quick to bounce back on his feet. He remembers how the kids had gathered around him to see if he was okay, and he was. But now it was the next day and he felt like his head wasn’t properly attached to his body, and that was fatal for vampires. Well, cutting off a head is a sure killing blow for any creature really.

“Are you an idiot?!” Kageyama yells through his phone.

“Don’t yell, it hurts,” he moans. He’d skipped his morning classes and called his supervisor to tell her he couldn’t go to the kindergarten today. Yui-chan had been so nice and worried about his condition. Told him to stay home for as long as he needed.

There was a pause on Kageyama’s end and then a sigh, “Look, I can’t give you another supply. Go to the doctor. Human medicine should help with the pain. Everyone is busy here.”

And so that was the verdict. It took him a moment to get out of bed, but he eventually made it to the doctor’s office down the road.

The thing about vampire bodies is that they are the most deceptive right after a feeding, so when he ends up filling out his information and getting a quick surface check-up, his vitals are healthy.

What he doesn’t expect is to find the doctor in front of him to be about his age (or so freaking tall! He’s unable to tilt his head up to see him properly). Behind him is the nurse who had helped him start his paperwork. She’s tiny next to the doctor, which, he can’t help but jealously notice, means he does too. The doctor raises a brow, “Hinata Shouyo?”

Hinata grins weakly, wincing when his head moves, “That’s me.”

The doctor makes a sound, looks him over, motions for him to sit at the empty seat in front of him, and looks over the chart that Hinata filled out. It was one of those questionnaires that asked him what the problem was, where he felt pain, and how bad the pain was.

He’s blonde with short hair and Hinata can see the bags under his eyes even with his thick-rimmed glasses in place. Aside from his age, he fits the description of every doctor he’s had an appointment with before, healthy-looking. There isn’t much muscle on him but it’s obvious he takes care of himself.

“Tell me what happened,” the doctor says after a moment, taking out a light from his pocket and looking into his eyes. He hums and then tells him to follow his finger. A slew of questions leave his thin lips, leaving Hinata unable to answer his initial question, “How many fingers am I holding up? Have you felt nauseous? Any stomach problems? Dizziness?”

Hinata does and answers every request and question. Then the doctor stands and walks behind him, “I’m going to touch your neck. Tell me if you have pain.”

Hinata shivers at how cold the doctor’s fingers are but can’t help but feel a tingle. He’d seen how elegant and long they were, and now he was partially feeling it.

He feels pressure along the back of his neck and along his shoulders, and if it weren’t for the fact that he was at the doctor’s with an injury, he would have said it was a great massage.

He winces slightly, “I have an internship at the nearby kindergarten, I was playing with the kids and fell. I hit my head in the gym. It didn’t hurt the day I hit it but I woke up today with a headache and, ouch! ”

The doctor had tried to tilt his head back but stopped when he flinched. For the whole of the checkup, the nurse had mainly stayed in the back, but now she moved as if to help him.

The doctor sighed and came back to his seat, “Good news, you don’t need any scans. Bad news, you’re going to be in pain for the next seven to fourteen days. I can prescribe some pain medicine,” he shuffles around some papers, “and some stomach medicine.”

Hinata tilts his head, “Stomach medicine?” and then winces, moving his hand to cradle his neck, “what for?”

The doctor stares at him for a moment and then says, “You haven’t shown any negative signs, which is great. No dizziness, no numbness, only slight nausea and vertigo, but people who undergo shocks like this can also have stomach problems.”

Hinata makes a sound, “I wouldn’t say this was a shock though…A surprise, maybe.”

The doctor gives him another look, but this one he understands because it’s one that Kageyama frequently sends him. He sits up, wincing, and then accuses, “You just thought I was an idiot, didn’t you!”

There’s a small gasp from the nurse and Hinata can see her raise her clipboard to her mouth.

Another look from the doctor, this time as if to say, oh did you figure it out? Instead, the doctor smiles (Hinata frowns at how fake it looks) and says, “It’s a shock to your body. You’ll thank me in a few days.”

Except Hinata wouldn’t because he has no need to expel anything. And the doctor doesn’t need to know that but he feels like he should respond. He smacks his lips and raises a brow when he sees the lips of the doctor tilt slightly in response.

He hands him his prescription and says, “Just take this to the front desk, they’ll give you the medicine. Take it easy for the next few days. And maybe tell the kids to go easy on you next time. Any questions?”

Hinata feels his face turn red and he sees the nurse quietly laughing.

He doesn’t really have any questions so he’s not sure what prompts him to say, “How long have you been a doctor here?”

It must also startle the doctor because he seems momentarily speechless. Then he says, “Just over a year.”

“You look really young, how old are you?” Hinata looks over at the nurse and sees interest in her eyes. Does she not know the doctor’s age either?

The doctor rolls his pen in his hand and then smiles, “I meant any questions about your well-being.”

“What’s your name?” Hinata continues.

The nurse giggles quietly and Hinata notices the way the doctor looks over at her with a frown, but that doesn’t seem to stop her from grinning.

The doctor turns his frown towards him, “It’s on the door, didn’t you read it before coming in?”

Hinata pouts, “My head hurts and I can barely move it!”

The doctor sighs and finally, Hinata can see how those thin lips part, how those golden eyes close slightly, and his eyebrows dip. Everything about the doctor seems to be slim.

“Tsukishima,” the doctor concedes.

“Tsukishima…” Hinata prompts, but the doctor just stands up.

“It looks like there are no other questions-”

“When are your days off? Or do doctors work every day?” He can hear the nurse laughing again, this time a little louder.

Tsukishima gives him a look that he’s able to grasp (disgust) because of Kageyama and for the first time he’s glad his best friend has such a temper.

“You’re not very nice,” Hinata pouts, getting up from his chair, “What if I feel worse? Shouldn’t I come see you again?”

Tsukishima crosses his arms, “We have your files so any other doctor can help you. And I’m sure you won’t need to come back. You seem perfectly fine.”

“Ok, one last serious question.”

Tsukishima looks at him warily and Hinata grins wide, making sure not to move his head too much, “Do you want to get a coffee? Or tea? I don’t really like coffee or tea but I was thinking we could-”

“Good BYE,” Tsukishima emphasizes but Hinata can see the slight blush on his cheeks.

Hinata finally leaves but makes sure to look at the office sign, cradling the back of his neck so he can look properly, Tsukishima Kei.

OMAKE

The pain somehow gets worse after his doctor’s visit and for a moment he wonders if Tsukishima has some sort of sadistic magical powers. Maybe he’d annoyed him with all the questions and he’d exacted revenge by placing some kind of curse on him! Kageyama calls him an idiot and Yamaguchi laughs.

After a week, his head stopped hurting and as he predicted, he had no need for the stomach medicine. Yamaguchi is the one who explains that yes, humans usually do develop stomach problems after something like a head injury. Hinata remembers falling once when he was a kid and hitting his head, but he can’t remember feeling sick after. It probably wasn’t a serious blow then.

But no pain also means he has no excuse to visit the doctor’s office, and suddenly, he wonders if this is what addicted vampires are like. He can see Kageyama giving him the stink eye, and he’s sure they’re both thinking the same thing.

They’re at a cafe and since Yamaguchi is the only human of the three, he’s the only one eating. It’s not that vampires can’t eat, but that usually means they need more energy and so the blood supply doesn’t last as long. But they do join him with a few drinks.

Hinata groans into his teacup, “He must live around here, right? Why haven’t I ever bumped into him?!”

Kageyama frowns, thinking about this seriously, “Maybe you did. You just don’t remember. Or maybe he lives outside the city.”

“But he’s so pretty,” Hinata sighs, ignoring the potential that Tsukishima is not a local resident, “And tall, I remember all the tall people I meet!”

The bell at the cafe dings and Hinata’s eyes look over by reflex, and he nearly spits out his tea when he sees the doctor walking in.

Yamaguchi smiles with pancake shoved into his cheek, “I told you this cafe was good.”

A/N:

you know what i apparently like to do? base stories on stuff that has happened to me lOL. i was going to share another story where i did something similar but i forgot it's still hidden but it should be revealed sometime this month (and i’ll post it here after),

i wrote this for kai so i hope this is to your liking! i heard you were into tsukihina and things like vampires and college au. i hope i did your prompts justice! and you may notice i focused more on the vampire part than the college rip.

p.s. idk anything about doctors and how they do checkups, i avoid them with a passion so uh yeah

p.p.s. this was going to be just a chapter and omake but it keeps whispering into my ear so i gave it an extra chapter but now it’s looking like it will be three chapters long! enjoy

“The next few days, Yachi makes sure he doesn't forget about Hinata Shouyo. ” (HQ Secret Santa 2021)

Doctor’s Visit, Ch2

Read Chapter 1 | Ao3

Tsukishima's week has been hectic and by week he means since last last Sunday when he was called in because a coworker got sick and well, he hasn't had much luck in getting a break. He's told he'll be able to get a break this weekend, but he knows that's not always true. Emergencies happen and while the clinic isn't really short-staffed, it's also nearing the holidays. The time, in his opinion, when people become stupider.

He sighs and mutters, "I hate the holidays," then he looks up from his desk and says, "What happened to the next one?"

Yachi stands in front of him with a clipboard and the paperwork of his next patient. Hinata Shouyo is written at the top in very clean and elegant writing. He's not sure why but he gets the feeling his grandparents would approve of this penmanship

Yachi looks worried as she explains, "His name is Hinata Shouyo. It looks like he hit his head at work. He's been sitting in the lobby holding his neck. He doesn't look well."

Tsukishima is only half paying attention, reading the details that this Hinata wrote down. It doesn't seem like it's too serious, but one can never know with blows to the head. They can be really nasty and he's glad that at least this patient had the sense to come to the clinic and get checked. Even though it's after the fact. Better late than never.

"Bring him in," he tells Yachi and while she does, he takes a moment to rub at his eyes.

When Yachi returns he's standing and back in professional mode. While he can't be as sunshine and rainbows as some of his peers, he can be civil. No need to worry or harm the patients, although there have been many tempting times to hurl insults. He raises a brow at the man who walks in. His parents chose a good name.

The checkup goes well for the most part and he's surprised that Hinata can pick up on some of his silent insults because really, who gets hurt while playing with five year olds? He looks like he's a pretty lithe person, but he supposes that appearances are deceiving.

But if he's being honest, he's also arrested in those moments. They don't make much eye contact since he's making sure Hinata is alright (his hands are small but hold strength, his neck surprisingly warm) but when he turns, Hinata is watching, staring, and his eyes are so bright and piercing, they make him stall.

He hands Hinata his prescriptions and says, “Just take this to the front desk, they’ll give you the medicine. Take it easy for the next few days. And maybe tell the kids to go easy on you next time. Any questions?” He wouldn't have spoken like this to any other patient, but there's something about Hinata that makes him think he won't start trouble, well, if he even catches the insult. I wouldn't be surprised if it goes over his head

But what Hinata says next completely derails him, “How long have you been a doctor here?”

It's not really something he's been asked frequently. If anything, he only gets it from upset parents and older patients who always want a more "experienced" doctor. But there doesn't seem to be any malice in his question, just curiosity so he says, “Just over a year.”

“You look really young, how old are you?” and that's what Tsukishima was hoping wouldn't be asked. It's not that he doesn't want to reveal his age, but he's already the youngest doctor in the clinic, and he'll admit that he does have a connection, but he's also qualified. He spins the pen in his hand and smiles in a way he knows pleases the nurses, “I meant any questions about your well-being.”

But his attitude doesn't seem to deter Hinata and when his questions eventually turn more personal and Yachi's laughs become bolder, he realizes that Hinata isn't trying to belittle him. He was never really the type to get confessions so he's not sure how to react, and his traitorous body flushes and his heart starts to beat a bit faster. He scowls.

“Ok, one last serious question," Hinata promises and Tsukishima looks at him warily.

He didn't think Hinata could look brighter, but apparently this is him at his dullest. He grins wide, “Do you want to get a coffee? Or tea? I don’t really like coffee or tea but I was thinking we could-”

“Good BYE,” he emphasizes and is glad when Hinata does as he's told. He slams the door shut and Yachi is full blown giggling behind him. He turns around and she takes a breath to say, "You're blushing, oh my god, does that mean you think he's cute?"

He remembers the Yachi of when he first arrived at the clinic and misses how quiet and scared (of him) she used to be, "No." But he does take off his glasses to rub at his eyes, two curious and piercing eyes looking at him from the darkness.

The rest of the day is completely dull compared to that one visit, but he does manage to take a nap for a few minutes during lunch. He wakes up to a small bento from Yachi at his desk. He raises a brow at her but thanks her

"I knew you wouldn't bring a lunch today either and since I had extras," she says while already eating her own share, which the exact same size as his. He checks the time, making sure he has enough time to eat

----

The next few days, Yachi makes sure he doesn't forget about Hinata Shouyo.

They're having lunch one day when she says, "I wonder how Hinata is doing. He really had some trouble that day, remember how he was holding his neck?" She mimics Hinata but her face is completely miserable and Tsukishima can't help but smile.

"I'm sure he didn't look that miserable," he says. When Yachi smirks, he can't help but feel like he's lost.

"Really? How did he look then?" And his mind immediately conjures Hinata holding his neck after he'd tried to tilt it back. Yes, he'd been in pain but his posture had mostly been good. His hair had been lively, fluffy even, his skin warm, his eyes bright, and his lips-

He frowns and closes his bento, thanking Yachi once more, "For the lunch, your company has been less than stellar lately."

That only makes her laugh, "You don't like anyone's company."

It's true. He'd rather be by himself.

The next time she bring him up they're both on a quick fifteen minute break and he takes this chance to get a coffee.

"So why didn't you take him up on his date?"

She is so to the point that day that he nearly drops his coffee. He frowns, "You know that's unethical."

She has her own drink in hand and he recognizes it as a hot chocolate from the vending machine. But she's relentless, "Ok, what if you met him at like, the grocery store or at a cafe like he said, what if he asked you out, would you say yes?"

He scrunches his nose in defiance and lifts his coffee to his mouth, letting the aroma wake him up. He'd been called in again, his weekend rest ruined, "Why are you so invested in this? He probably said that to be cheeky."

She hums and Tsukishima worries about what she'll say next. His worry is correct when she says, "But did you think he was cute?"

He sighs and starts walking back to his office, "Our break is almost over." But he can tell he's blushing slightly, not just because he suddenly feels the heat on his ears, but because Yachi is smiling, a bounce in her steps.

The next time he's ready for Yachi's questioning, but she doesn't bring up Hinata. Instead, she says, "There's this really nice cafe a quick walk from here, by the grocery store. Their hot chocolate is so good! And they make some of the cutest latte art."

It seems innocent enough until, "It's the perfect place for a date, don't you think?"

He inwardly groans but smiles politely, "I'm sure. Did you and Tadashi go there?"

Yachi nods and starts to give him a detailed account of how her boyfriend found it, the really handsome staff, and the delicious food. But he also wonders how this pertains to Hinata. He was pretty sure he'd mentioned a kindergarten internship so he wouldn't really have time for another part-time job, right? He scowls at where his thoughts stray and decides he's overworked.

"I'm taking a break," he tells Yachi as he takes off his glasses and heads outside.

He finally gets to have a day off on Monday and he spends it sleeping most of the day. When he returns on Tuesday, he can feel Yachi watching him for longer than necessary. When the staring doesn't stop by mid-day he asks, "What is it?"

Yachi, in almost a whisper, asks, "Did you go?"

He is confused, "Where?"

Yachi sighs in disappointment, "Where else? The cafe!"

He shuffles some papers on his desk and stares at her with a deadpan expression, "Why would I go?"

Yachi looks too innocent when she says, "To see if the coffee is good?"

Tsukishima sighs. He doesn't have many vices but when you work hours like they do, it's nearly impossible not to get addicted to caffeine, and even when he knows it won't help, especially with how long he's been drinking it, he can't stop. But more importantly, "You know I try not to drink coffee outside of work hours."

Yachi sighs dramatically, "I know but still!"

Her posture is more subdued for about half the day before he once more sees a fire in her eyes. As they're both heading home that night she says, "The atmosphere is really nice too! You like quiet places too, right? It's very soothing."

He wraps a scarf around his neck and pulls on his gloves, his jacket and bag already on. Yachi is a bit slower in getting ready

"You must really like this place," he plays along. Then adds, "Is Tadashi picking you up?"

Yachi brightens, "Yes to both questions!"

It's nearing midnight when they finally head outside and meet up with Tadashi, and Tsukishima is glad he can finally get rid of Yachi. He's met Tadashi only a handful of times, his work keeping his social life as nonexistent as possible, but the guy seemed nice and Yachi never complained. And if you asked Tsukishima, they did make a nice couple, Tadashi with his slightly dorky smile and Yachi with her exuberance. They were both sickeningly doting as well

Before they part Yachi yells, "Make sure to go on your next day off!"

Tsukishima doesn't answer but as he's walking home, he thinks that maybe he can concede this one time. And it's not because he's worried or wants to see Hinata. No.

"...so she can stop pestering me."

Gift For FanGirlofManyThings: Kei remembers the first time he met the boy with the stars on his face. (Sofa’22)

The Forest Spirit

Read on AO3

Kei has wandered the woods many times, but humans are rare so deep and far off the path. He's surprised to hear panting and wheezing, and the sound of the leaves crunching under a rhythmic weight stops him in his tracks. He watches from the shadows as a boy appears. He can't see his face but he’s wearing heavy clothing that makes noise with every breath he takes. He's resting by a tree, his head down, and his hands on his knees

He wonders about the way the boy must have come. It’s very likely he came from the shrine, which means that in order for him to have gotten lost this far into the woods, he must have climbed over the retaining wall

Kei isn't sure why he's here. Is he lost?

He gets his answer when the boy falls to the floor, his arms circling his legs. He can hear crying and Kei's face sours. His brother would help the boy.

Humans are attracted to the magic here, he’d once told Kei when he was so young Akiteru was still taller than him, We should always help them get back. It can be dangerous here. He’d paused there for a moment, his face sad, They’re very fragile…

Kei makes up his mind with a scowl on his face and walks toward the boy. He makes no sound, even as he steps on the red fall leaves. The boy doesn’t look up at him, still lost in his crying

“Hey,” Kei calls out, his voice breaking a bit at the end. He’s not used to speaking in the human language. He frowns, but it works. The boy looks up at the sound of his voice

His eyes are red, there’s some fluid exiting his nose, and his mouth is releasing quick breaths. But the noises he’s been making stop almost immediately and he uses his hands to clean his face. The boy stutters, “I-I didn’t see you, ah, I mean, where…are you lost too?”

Kei frowns when the boy’s face is free of his tears. There’s still something…

He touches the boy’s face and rubs, trying to get the dirt smeared on his face off.

The boy yells, “What are you doing?!”

It still doesn’t come off. Instead, his face begins to turn red, but Kei is sure he isn’t being too rough. He scrapes a bit, his nails are dull but still sharp enough to remove any type of creature that might have attached itself to the boy

The boy pushes him away, “Stop!”

Kei falls back on his butt and now they’re both sitting on the floor.

The boy’s arms flail and he’s sure he stops breathing for a moment before he yells out, “I’m sorry! Are you okay? It’s just, that really hurt. W-What were you doing anyway?” He touches his right cheek, the one Kei had been trying to clean. He can see a small red scrape

They’re very fragile…you should treat them delicately

Kei pouts and mutters a “lame” before standing up and turning away from the boy. He doesn’t even get to take a step before the boy launches himself at him, his arms holding onto his

“W-Wait” he says, “Do you know…ah, do you know how to get out of here? I got separated from my friends…”

Kei doesn’t shake him off. We should always help them get back. He asks the trees for other signs of humans but there’s nobody else there. This boy with the dirt on his face was left alone.

… you should treat them delicately

He turns his hand until their hands are intertwined. He doesn’t say anything, just tugs slightly. The boy gets up. He looks confused but follows him.

The sound of the leaves crunching under the boy’s feet is the only sound that accompanies them for a moment. Kei likes the feeling of their hands pressed together. The boy is soft and warm and perhaps a bit wet. But the smell coming off him is pleasant. It smells like the fruit his brother had given him that day in the woods

Come on, let’s try with this. Try to hold it gently in your hands.

They go downhill towards the shrine. Kei is careful, walking at a pace that is easy for the boy, making sure he doesn’t pull him too hard otherwise he will fall. Even with the boots on his feet, he’s sure he would tumble down and hurt himself.

“Who are you?” the boy asks as they near the retaining wall that separates humans from people like Kei and his brother. Or it would normally, but humans have lost their fear of the unknown in recent years

Kei isn’t sure how to answer that so instead he says, “Who are you ?”

The boy laughs and Kei is mesmerized by the way his eyes shine, “I’m Yamaguchi, Yamaguchi Tadashi.”

Kei nods in understanding. He meant his name, “Kei.”

There’s a pause and then Yamaguchi Tadashi says, “Just Kei?”

Kei doesn’t know a lot about humans. He’s not allowed to leave this forest, but his brother knows more. He’s told him about the way humans have two names.

Do we have two names? He remembers asking because he’d only ever known Akiteru as Akiteru. His brother had laughed, No, we’re just Akiteru and Kei. Do you want a last name?

He’d thought hard about that and had almost slipped. His brother had held his arm, Careful, it gets hard to see in the dark

Kei looks at the curiosity in the boy’s eyes, “Kei…Kei Tsuki…shima.”

He grins up at Kei and nods, “I’ll remember that. Thank you for helping me. Ah, are you coming down too? It’s getting dark…”

Kei watches the retaining wall. It’s an extremely old structure, much older than the shrine.

He lets go of Tadashi’s hand and instantly misses the feel of it. He doesn’t truly feel cold, but he knows that’s what it feels like now that they aren’t connected. He uses the same hand to point at the wall and Tadashi’s eyes follow, “That’s the shrine. Go back down that way.”

When Tadashi turns back around, he’s gone.

He watches from the shadows, the way the boy turns from one direction to another, confusion on his face.

--

Kei doesn’t expect to see Tadashi anymore. Many humans come to the shrine but very few are as young as him and very few return more than once.

Even fewer go over the retaining wall

He’s heard a few people stand on it, looking on in awe at the forest beyond. They admire it but know that there is something clearly off about the space beyond.

Why don’t humans come and see us? He’d asked Akiteru once. He’d been practicing with the fruit again. He had gone from completely crushing it and scraping it with his nails, to finally being able to pick it from the tree himself without destroying it.

His brother had been talking with the trees. He hummed and then said, It’s probably the wall at the back of the shrine. Remember the last time you touched it?

The memory is upsetting enough that he instantly crushes the fruit in his palm. He grimaces, apologizing to the fruit.

He’d heard voices that day and had wanted to see the humans. After hearing about them so much from Akiteru, he’d wanted to say hello. To tell them he wasn’t scary and wanted to be friends. When he touched the wall to try and climb over it, he’d been zapped and pushed away. It had taken weeks for his hand to heal

He’d never seen Akiteru so scared or upset.

Promise you’ll never try that again! He’d promised, the fear in Akiteru’s eyes contagious.

Akiteru picked another fruit from the tree and gave it to Kei, gently and lovingly, It pushes them away too. More gently, but still as insistent. He had smiled sadly, But not all humans listen. Magic calls to them too but it’s dangerous on this side, especially at night.

Kei had never understood the danger Akiteru talked about until he’d grown into his own power

The same power his brother used to talk with the earth around them. The same one that warns him now of a human in the woods.

Not that he needed that when Tadashi is crunching around the woods yelling out, “Tsukki! Tsukki! Are you here! It’s me, Tadashi!”

It doesn’t take Kei very long to get to where Tadashi is yelling. He’s dressed differently this time, not properly for a hike in the woods. It’s a uniform of some sort, all black, and he has a bag on his back. A scarf is wrapped around his neck but Kei sees a few leaves and twigs stuck to it

He realizes why that is when Tadashi leans back against one of the trees

Kei appears behind him, “Why are you here again?”

Tadashi jumps away from the tree, “You scared me!”

They both stare at each other. Kei is frowning at the way Tadashi’s face is still covered in dirt. He reaches out again to clean his face, but again, it doesn’t come off. He decides to voice his concern this time instead of hurting him again, “Why won’t this come off?”

Tadashi laughs and Kei feels it on his hand, it’s warm, just like how it had felt to hold his hand.

“They’re not supposed to come off,” he smiles, “I was born with them.”

His frown deepens, “Fruits with spots mean bad health.”

Tadashi looks a bit awkward at the comment, “I-I’m not fruit?”

No, he is human. He is like fruit. Smells just as sweet, has life, and is fragile. Kei moves away and starts walking back to where he had been caring for the trees. He hears Tadashi following him and it doesn’t take long before he’s talking, his voice animated

“Do your feet hurt? You weren’t wearing shoes the last time either. Or are you cold? It’s been getting chilly lately. Isn’t your yukata too thin?”

He gives Tadashi a fruit and he holds it without having to think about his strength.

“Do you like these?” he asks instead, and Kei nods. They pile a few fruits carefully into a woven basket

“Do others know that you’re here? I’ve never heard of anyone meeting someone up here.”

“No,” Kei answers. It’s only ever been him and Akiteru.

Tadashi smiles, “You finally answered! Also, where are we going?”

Kei gestures forward, “I’m going to leave the fruits over there.”

Over there is the only place on the grounds that Kei can come anywhere close to humans without being hurt. It’s a small shrine, tiny enough that sometimes the stronger winds would knock it over. Tiny enough that it could and was usually overlooked by any visitors.

There is no physical barrier here but the magical one is still in place

He leaves the basket at the cliffside, as far as he can go without losing his form

He looks at Tadashi, “There are stairs built in past the trees there. You can take that route down.”

Instead of leaving, Tadashi holds his hand. They stand there, looking over the city until it gets dark

--

The next time they meet, Kei frowns at Tadashi. He’s appeared from behind a tree again, spooking him, “Why do you call me that?”

Tadashi has a hand on his heart and his face is red, “W-What do you mean?”

Kei says “Tsuki” as if he’s eaten something sour.

The boy looks slightly embarrassed, making the marks on his face pop, “Oh, well, it’s a nickname. You said your name was Tsukishima so Tsukki…for short. Do you…Do you not like it?”

Kei isn’t sure why but he likes the way Tadashi can’t look him in the eye. It makes him want to chase him. He touches his face again and makes sure he’s looking at him

“Call me Kei. That’s my name.”

“O-oh,” he whispers. Kei doesn’t want to let go and Tadashi lets him linger for a moment. Then he asks, “Do you like them?”

Kei nods, “What are they?”

Tadashi grins, “Freckles. The others don’t really like them and bullies used to always say mean things about them.”

He lets go of his face and starts walking into the woods, “They’re very pretty.”

Kei hears him laugh behind him, “You can’t just say that with your back to me!”

But Kei does and he doesn’t turn back. He feels his face warm.

Today, Kei is cleaning up the fallen twigs and leaves. Tadashi helps him but also complains when his hands and clothes are completely covered in mud, “I should have worn something else!”

Kei takes Tadashi’s hands in his and cleans off as much of the mud as he can. He folds their hands together and guides Tadashi to another part of the mountain that others have not seen before. It’s a slow trek. The sun is already setting and he wonders if this is even a good idea. It would have been easier to send him off, some other human could help him

But he’s not ready to let go.

It’s dark by the time they make it to the river that feeds into the streams surrounding the shrine

“Wash here,” Kei gestures. Tadashi is staring openly and not moving

“How…and people don’t come up here?” he exclaims, one of his hands coming up to touch his forehead, “This place is amazing.”

Kei pulls him towards the water, sitting on the rocks lining the edge, “Now your face is actually dirty.”

Tadashi only grins, sitting as well, “You should clean it then.”

Kei does exactly that. The water is cold and he notices the way Tadashi moves away from it initially. Kei likes the warmth of his skin, which doesn’t go away for long. His hair sticks to his face slightly as it gets wet and Kei moves his fingers through it to push it back. It’s soft

“Are you stuck here?” Tadashi whispers

Kei doesn’t answer at first. He remembers crying to his brother, feeling sad and angry that he couldn’t leave, I want to go back! I don’t want to hear them laughing anymore!

Akiteru had held him and rubbed his back, We have an important job. If you go back, who will take care of the trees? Then the humans would be sad too

“I can move around freely in my forest,” he says instead.

They watch the sky and Kei decides that the freckles on Tadashi’s face are not the unhealthy touch of death but the brightness of the stars

--

The first time Tadashi meets Kei's brother is in the winter.

Instead of going to find Tadashi, Kei waits for him to find him. He no longer yells out his name either, especially after (as he’d told Kei one time) he’d been asked why he was making so much noise by the shrine caretakers. He’d been embarrassed but also worried that people would become curious and start coming up into Kei’s forest

Instead, Kei sits against one of the larger trees. The ground is packed with snow and the trees have all gained a cap of it on their limbs. Kei’s body sits above the snow, unsinking and unbothered by the temperature change

But that doesn’t stop him from wearing the scarf that Tadashi had gifted him.

“There you are!” Tadashi exclaims and Kei opens his eyes to see his star-touched face. His breath is visible in the cold and he’s wearing heavier clothes. His feet, unlike Kei’s, do sink into the snow and he shivers a bit when some of the snow gets into his boots

He sits next to Kei and teases, “I almost couldn’t see you. You blend in with the snow. Good thing I gave you that scarf.” He looks up at the tree they’re leaning against. It takes up most of the clearing, “This tree is huge! I can’t believe I hadn’t seen it before.”

Kei leans his head back against the trunk and whispers, “This is my brother.”

Tadashi sounds nervous when he says, “Oh, uhm, what’s his name? Is he…okay? I’ve never seen him before.”

Kei moves his head so it’s leaning against Tadashi’s and weaves their hands together. Kei’s hands are bare against Tadashi’s gloved one.

It’s been years since his brother last took human shape.

“He’s healing,” he tells him, “Not many humans come up this far, but some have.”

Tadashi turns and Kei can feel the kiss on his head, “What is he like? Is he as tall as you?”

Kei smirks, “No. He’s short. I was taller than him these last few years.”

Snow sprinkles on them and Kei laughs, “He says that’s not true.”

Tadashi smiles, “I bet he's nicer than you at least.”

“He is,” he agrees, “I wouldn’t have helped you that first day if it wasn’t for him.”

Tadashi cuddles closer to him, “Well, then I’m glad he’s your brother. Tell me more about him.”

Night comes quickly in the winter, but Kei isn’t able to stop telling story after story about Akiteru

A/N: omgggg this is the first time writing for this ship and i had so much fun!! i hope you all enjoy, but esp you rebecca! a few notes

- loosely based on the song tonight by lie ning

- the setting is based on a shrine in Hiroshima bc its my favorite

- i decided to focus on the meet cute and happy scene prompts, i hope this fits the bill!

- apparently, tree spirits are called kodama and they are often depicted as glowing orbs of light and I was like oh hey doesn't kei mean firefly which is also a floating light, and yeah, there is no plot, just wood spirit kei. that's also why he wears white

- kodama trees are said to bleed when cut so they are generally left alone

"Yeah, Deku," Katsuki teases and Deku squeezes his hand.

Read on Ao3

Ochako sighs in what Deku would describe as over the top and he bumps her shoulder, "That is uncalled for you know."

"You two are holding hands right now!" she aggressively whispers because yes, they're in the library, working on a group assignment.

"Yeah, Deku," Katsuki teases and Deku squeezes his hand. Katsuki smirks and squeezes back harder.

"Your flirting is so romantic," Uraraka deadpans, watching them, "Maybe that's why you didn't realize."

Izuku's face goes red, "We're not…flirting." His voice is slightly strained and then he makes a face, "Ok, I give."

Katsuki laughs, "Lasted a little longer this time, gotta keep training nerd, if you wanna keep up."

Ochako giggles and then turns serious again, pointing at their hands again, "See!"

Katsuki is gently rubbing Izuku's hand, sweet and making sure it gets proper circulation after their little squeeze-fest.

Izuku's smile is dorky and Ochako is reminded why so many of their classmates had a crush on him, "You do realize we're dating now, this is normal. You and Tsuyu hold hands all the time too."

"And suck face like there's no tomorrow," Katsuki adds.

"Yes and yes, jealous?" She's puffed out her impressive chest at Katsuki and, never to be outdone, Katsuki does the same. Too bad he's in the middle. And the topic, "Hell no, Deku's sucking is leagues better."

"He might be good but against a lesbian, he's a novice."

"Guys," Izuku whines, his face red.

"He was trained by the best, ME. And a gay's training is just as badass, we're not second best to anyone," and he makes gestures and oh no they're getting looks. Again.

"Kacchan," he tugs at the hand he's holding, "Not in public. Also, why are we…this topic…weren't we talking about being childhood sweethearts?"

Ochako backs down and Katsuki grins, "Two wins and it's only 9am. Keep her distracted, Deku."

Ochako rolls her eyes, "Fine. But this isn't over." She gives Katsuki the evil eye and he makes crude gestures at her that Izuku is pointedly not going to be doing to him in the near future

"How long have you two been dating?"

Before Izuku can say anything, Katsuki says, "Forever."

Izuku frowns, "Only if forever is 8 years. Does this mean you're done with me?"

Katsuki makes a face, "What." Except it's not really a question.

"You said you wanted forever with me. If we've been dating forever, doesn't that mean we've already finished forever?" He's smiling and Katsuki feels a vein throb.

Ochako whispers, "Was this where their love would end? Find out next time on KatsuDeku tease week."

"Round face," Katsuki glowers, then grins, "That's not a bad idea."

Ochako nods, "I'm full of them. If you want, I can even spice up your holidays. For a fee, of course."

"Oh?" Katsuki motions for her to go on.

"First, admitting that-"

He slams the table, "Rejected."

"You didn't even let her-"

"REJECTED."

There's a collective shushing and Izuku puts his (and Katsuki's one hand because yes, they're still holding hands) together in apology.

Ochako sticks out her tongue and then turns back to Izuku, "So 8 years is when you two officially started dating, right?"

Izuku nods.

"But you two are childhood friends, right?"

"Why are you starting with "but"?" Ochako gives him a look and he nods, "We are…"

"Now," she begins, her fingers at her chin in her typical "detective" or "cool" pose, "I don't know you two that well, but I bet Katsuki used to hog your attention. And would beat up anyone new who came near you."

Izuku can't help the grin and giggles that leave his mouth. Meanwhile, Katsuki makes a face, his lips pursed, "He did. Sort of. How'd you know?"

When they first met, Katsuki had been very adamant about Not being Izuku's friend. Until his mother threatened him, saying that she'd tell the new boy that Katsuki was actually in love with him and that's why he wouldn't play together. She wasn't entirely off the mark. Katsuki had thought Deku was cute but he'd been so small and timid. What did he know about playing heroes and villains? He was probably bad at it!

But after that, they'd been pretty inseparable and Katsuki had taken it upon himself not to let other kids hang around Deku for too long. He'd invite himself into their space if someone had approached Deku before him at the playground and if anyone was even a little mean, they would meet his fists of steel

He'd gotten in trouble a few times

"Can't teach an old dog new tricks," she shrugs.

"Or he likes it. Ever thought of that? Getting tied up, marked-"

"Denial?"

"Denial." Katsuki confirms

"You two," Izuku groans, "Stop talking about my sex life."

"Sex life?" someone says and Izuku looks up to find Todoroki looking at them. He grabs a chair next to Ochako and sits, "Do I want to know?"

Katsuki and Ochako both point at Izuku.

"Ahh," is all he says, taking out his laptop from his backpack.

"Oh, I know!" Ochako says, "Let's ask Todoroki! If he thinks so then it's gotta be true!"

Todoroki raises a brow and Izuku rubs his head, "Why…"

"Because he's dense as a board," Katsuki says, "Probably wouldn't know if someone wants to fuck him unless they pulled down his pants."

"I don't know," Ochako says, "I think he'd still be confused."

"I'm right here…and why can't they just tell me? Why pull down my pants?"

Ochako smiles, "Our point proven…! Todoroki!"

He looks at her, "Yes?"

"Are Katsuki and Deku childhood sweethearts?"

He turns his gaze to his two other group mates. His eyes go to their intertwined hands and then nods, "Yes, they've been dating for years."

He's one of the few classmates that's known them since high school.

"Wouldn't it be more appropriate to say we're high school sweethearts?" Izuku challenges but then feels Katsuki squeeze his hand.

"You do realize we started dating before high school, right?"

"Well, yeah, but only just…"

Ochako gasps and whispers, "Wait!! Maybe…maybe he's saying he didn't like you…before you started dating!"

"NO!!" They get shushed again, except that some of the kids around them look a little too intrigued, and Izuku swears the librarian hasn't left the same spot in the 700 section for a while

He blushes and says, more quietly, "I did like him, it's just…"

It's just that they had a moment in their childhood where Izuku thought Katsuki hated him.

Katsuki sucks his teeth and squeezes his hand, "We are, ok?"

"Yeah?" He asks.

"Yeah."

"Should I write this down in my calendar? Label it as "first time Katsuki is soft"?" She even goes as far as opening said calendar, which is fat with loose papers and has colorful tags sticking out the sides.

"Fuck you," Katsuki says, giving her the finger. She sends one back his way, then raises a second, which Katsuki can't mimic unless he lets go of Izuku's hand. Unless…

"Have they been like this all day?"

Izuku covers half his face as Katsuki forces their joined hands to flip off Uraraka, once more giving him a win.

"Yes."

Gift for adorations: "Kei goes to Tadashi’s house almost every day and almost every day he falls asleep on his bed." (Dec'23 GDC)

Kei Dreams

read on AO3

Kei doesn’t really like the holidays. It’s not because Christmas starts months in advance and every single ad he sees is about buying your loved one that super special and perfect gift and we can make sure it’s perfect if you buy with US. It’s not even because Santa decorated everythings were suddenly shoved in his face. Although, he admits he once asked Santa to get him a Santa-themed T-Rex figure but he was 10 so he thinks he gets a pass. He didn’t know better…

(Ok, he’s lying. That is a big part of why he dislikes the holidays, especially Christmas)

“Tsukki,” he feels someone shake him awake, “It’s getting late.”

There’s a warm hand on his cheek and he grumbles something that makes Tadashi laugh. There’s movement around the room and he keeps his eyes closed just a moment longer. When he finally opens his eyes, Tadashi is out of his uniform. He’s grabbing all of his stuff (wallet, game console, notebooks, and pencils) and packing them back in his bag. Kei realizes with a bit of annoyance that he did it again.

“I’m sorry,” he says, “I didn’t mean to fall asleep again.”

(He goes to Tadashi’s house almost every day and almost every day he falls asleep on his bed)

Tadashi sets his packed bag down and goes back to Kei’s side. He pats his side and grins, “It’s ok. It was too cold to study anyway, and we did technically finish what we had to at school.”

“Is my brother here?” Kei asks, because even when he tells his mother he can just walk home alone, she always worries and sends Akiteru to pick him up. Tadashi nods and Kei reluctantly gets out of bed.

He thinks that if Tadashi didn’t sleep in it every night, it would smell more like Kei with how often he wakes up on it.

Tadashi hugs him with a grin and asks, “Do you want to brush your teeth?”

He holds Tadashi back loosely, his eyes still feeling a bit crusty and he wants to yawn but he’s very conscious of how his breath smells. He nods and Tadashi pecks him on the mouth, “Ok.”

Kei goes into the bathroom, which is right across from Tadashi’s room to finish waking up. When he steps out, he’s glad he can hear the TV and Tadashi’s voice downstairs. He grabs his bag and heads down too.

His brother is there, sitting at the Yamaguchi table with Tadashi and his parents. When he sees Kei he grins, “Ready to go?”

Kei knows he’s pouting when Akiteru laughs. He turns back to Tadashi’s parents and nods, “Thanks for the tea. It’s really delicious.” He flashes a tea box at them, “I’m sure Mom will love them. I’ll wait outside.”

The last bit is for him because (as Akiteru likes to tease), he knows he doesn’t like to be watched when he’s being all ‘cuddly’ with his boyfriend. Don’t worry, it’s not weird, it’s a teenager thing

Yamaguchi’s parents also tease and he feels himself go red, but Tadashi just grabs his hand and tugs him toward the genkan. He bows his head and excuses himself.

Kei is taller than Tadashi, but when he steps down to put on his shoes, Tadashi is the taller of the two. But only just. He knows Tadashi likes it when they stand like this (Kei does too) because he’s able to wrap Kei in his arms from above. Kei doesn’t like to hold Tadashi like that. He likes to hold him around his back and waist. (So he does)

Tadashi kisses his forehead and it would feel suffocating with anyone else but it feels warm with Tadashi. He knows not to hold on too tightly

He whispers into Kei’s ear, “I’m so excited for tomorrow.”

Kei isn’t, “I’m not.” (He is. Just not entirely. He’ll have to share Tadashi and it’ll be busy).

Tadashi just laughs because he knows, “Will we have time for a nap?”

Kei shakes his head, “We’ll be too busy. Mother likes to cook.”

---

They don’t have Christmas off, which means Kei still has to go to school in the morning and sit through boring lectures. Volleyball is canceled today though, which means he’s able to take the train to Tadashi’s school (still in the same town but a few stops from Kei’s). They both get ready at the dorms at his school. There’s no time to sit down and relax because his mother is already sending him messages of things she forgot to buy that he should get on his way home

Tadashi grins, “It’ll be like a little date.”

Kei smiles back and grabs his hand.

---

Christmas in the Tsukishima household is fairly simple. Most years, his mother just buys most of what they’ll eat but when Kei came home one day and announced (shoes still on, bag still in hand, and a frown on his face), Tadashi will be over for Christmas this year, is that ok? she had been over the moon!

She pulled out old recipe books she only used occasionally, watched cooking videos like she was going to be on some professional cooking show, and asked him repeatedly about Tadashi’s likes and dislikes.

Is he ok with dairy? What about eggs? Does he like cheese?

He likes rice, right? No wait, maybe he’s more of a bread person.

Do you know what kind of cake he likes best?

He reminds his mother that Tadashi isn’t some stranger he picked up off the street but his elementary school friend, It’s not his first time coming over

His mother laughs but continues her barrage of questions, But it’s his first time here as your boyfriend. I can’t disappoint!

---

In the end, Kei and Tadashi walk into the Tsukishima household with a bag of yokan sweets and frozen vegetables. Tadashi sniffs the air and nearly drools, “It smells so good!”

He speaks loud enough to be heard in the kitchen and he knows his mother heard when a muffled, “Did you hear that Aki?” carries through the hall. There’s some shuffling and then his mother hurries over. She’s drying her hands on her apron and her smile is wide. Tadashi matches her cheer but Kei just wants the day to be over with

“Welcome, welcome,” she calls and pulls at Kei’s other arm, “Come in you two. Oh, Tadashi! Look at how much you’ve grown!”

She pulls him into a hug and Kei rolls his eyes. He lets go of Tadashi’s hand and goes to the kitchen to drop off the bag he’s carrying.

When he hears Tadashi say, “Oh! I’d love to help!” he knows they’re doomed. Akiteru gives him a shrug, taste-testing the broth his mother has on low heat. He makes a noise and then hovers a spoon near Kei’s mouth, “It’s so good! Try it!”

Kei just stares and Akiteru does too. It’s been a few years since they’ve talked and figured things out, but sometimes Kei wishes Akiteru still backed down like he used to. Now his stubbornness outlasts Kei’s and he sighs, opening his mouth.

Kei’s eyes go a little wide because it really is good

Before he can say anything, their mother walks into the kitchen, “You two better not be sticking your fingers in there.”

Kei raises his hands and he can see the way Tadashi covers his mouth behind his mother, hiding a laugh. Akiteru, however, doesn’t get off too easily. He’s got the spoon in his hand after all.

He defends, “I’m only making sure it doesn’t burn, just like you said.”

---

They sit down to watch TV after dinner. Dinner had run a little late because they had to let the food cool down. She looks at Tadashi when she says, “You know how Kei is.”

Tadashi, who ends up sitting between the couch armrest and Kei nods. They share conspiratorial grins and Kei rolls his eyes, “You can’t taste anything if it’s too hot.”

Which is why he hasn’t touched his tea yet. It sits on the table with steam coming off the top. And it could be Tadashi’s warmth as he sits tight against Kei’s side, or the warmth of the house, which still has the smell of dinner in the air. Or it could be the sound of the TV and his family’s voices, but eventually, he dozes.

(He dreams of more holidays just like today)

He wakes up a few hours later with his head on Tadashi’s chest and his body askew. He’s somehow maneuvered himself so that he’s half laying across Tadashi, who has also moved to hold him (spoon him, his mind corrects) more comfortably. His mother is sitting on the floor with her legs tucked into the kotatsu at the center of the room, a blanket over her shoulders, and the TV still on (volume lowered). His brother isn’t in the room anymore but he can see another blanket on the other side of the kotatsu so he knows he hasn’t been gone long

The lights from the Christmas tree dance along the walls.

He looks over to see Tadashi dozing as well. His face is peaceful and Kei watches as different parts of his face light up as the lights change. He must be staring too hard or it might be the movement, but Tadashi’s eyes open slowly. When he realizes Kei is awake, he smiles softly and leans their heads close

“Is it time yet?”

“Dunno,” he mumbles.

His mother looks back at them and smiles, “We still have about two hours, but if you kids want to open gifts now and get some proper rest, we can do that too.”

“Where’s Akiteru?” Kei asks, sitting up and rubbing some feeling back into his limbs. Tadashi rubs his back too. Kei grabs his cup of tea, which has gone cold. It helps him wake up some more.

“He’s on the phone, but he should be back soon.”

Soon ends up being fifteen minutes and in that time they’ve cleared the kotatsu and set up the gifts to be unwrapped.

He panics, “Wait! Isn’t it too soon?”

“We’re opening them early because we’re tired,” Kei tells him.

Akiteru only grins, “You mean you’re tired.”

“You can open your gifts last .” Akiteru whines, his mother laughs, and Tadashi snickers. As they all sit around the kotatsu, Kei doesn’t miss the little box Akiteru slips into the pile.

---

His mother sets up her phone to record and Tadashi flashes a peace sign before saying, “Tsukki! Let’s open your gifts first!”

He pushes a box toward him and Kei looks at him with a smirk, “You do realize we’re supposed to guess who these are from, right?”

Tadashi looks at Kei’s mother, “I have no idea who that one is from.”

She smiles, “Oh, I can wager a guess.”

Kei rolls his eyes and opens the gift. When he does, he feels his eyes twitch and he turns to Tadashi, who is smiling innocently. It’s a Christmas sweater with a pixelated T-Rex eating Santa Claus. In a horror-esque font it says SANTA CLAWS and tiny rocks are falling from the top. One of the sleeves is wrapped in Christmas lights and some of them even come off as 3-D puffs.

“It’s…ugly.”

“That’s the point!” Tadashi laughs.

Kei’s mother claps, “Oh Kei! You have to wear it now. It’s perfect.”

And Kei is weak to Tadashi and his mother so when they both urge him, he relents. He puts on the sweater over his clothes and frowns when Akiteru takes a picture.

“Can you send me that picture?”

“Already sent!” Tadashi’s phone buzzes.

Kei didn’t even realize they knew each other’s numbers.

They open gifts in that style and when his mother grabs a small box to see who it’s for, Kei says, “That one’s from Akiteru.”

---

Tadashi spends the night and when they’re both in bed (Kei sans the ugly Christmas sweater), Tadashi gives him an extra gift. It’s small and flat and Kei is pretty sure it’s an envelope but less sure about the contents. He frowns, “Why didn’t you put it with the others?”

Tadashi is blushing and Kei likes the way it makes his freckles pop.

He’s a little quiet when he says, “This one is special. I…I didn’t want your family to see it yet. Open it.”

Kei opens it and feels his eyes widen when he sees what’s inside. It’s a listing for a small apartment and at the top of the paper it says, Do you want to live together? in Tadashi’s messy script

It’s quiet in his room and Tadashi begins to ramble, “We, uh. We haven’t talked about it too much, just vaguely, I know, but I was thinking that starting in the next school year we can do this instead of staying in the dorms. It would be cheaper and we wouldn’t have to-”

“Tadashi,” Kei stops him. Tadashi stops talking and Kei isn’t even sure what he wants to say. His heart is pounding and he’s sure his face is red.

Instead, Kei takes his hand and squeezes. He nods and Tadashi lights up.

“Really?” he asks, “It’s not too much? I know you like your space and-”

Kei squeezes his hand again, “It’s not too much. I want to.” He gestures at the paper, “We can talk more about it tomorrow.”

---

Kei dreams of days that aren’t completely taken up by his long naps. He dreams of waking up to Tadashi’s smiling face and instead of hearing it’s time, Tadashi asks him, “What should we have for dinner?”

Gift for gingergold: “Andas de compras?” le pregunto, “Qué coincidencia, yo también!” (#KacchakoESP)

La chica con la cara redonda

read on AO3

No realmente.

YO siguiéndote a TI?

“Genial. Ahora no puedo comprar nada aquí,” ella dijo. Lo regaño, “Deberías controlarte un poco más.”

Bakugo pisoteó el pie y se burló, “Esta tienda ni tiene ropa buena. OYERON, ropa CHAFA!”

No tenía idea)

.

A/N:

Gift for rhapshie: “Poor idiot Yuuji, falling for someone so constipated, he can’t even sort out his F-E-E-L-I-N-G-S. Oops, do you think he can spell?” (SukuIta, JJK)

F-E-E-L-I-N-Gs

Read on Ao3

tags: flower language, sukuna swears a lot, sukuna threatening the safety of poor florists, humor, nobamaki teases sukuna

note: this was written as part of a gotcha 4 gaza. if you like jjk, consider submitting a prompt here by the end of the month. you'd be helping out palestinians and getting some cool/cute fanart/fanfic for just a few bucks

——————————————————————————

Sukuna wasn’t mad. No. That would imply that he cared and that was the last thing on his mind. No, he was getting revenge.

Nobara popped the sucker from her mouth and grinned, her single eye looking a little too gleefully in his direction, “Is that what you call it nowadays? Too scared to call it what it is?”

Maki swung an arm around her shoulder and joined in, “Be careful, if you say the F-word, he might run away screaming.”

“Poor idiot Yuuji, falling for someone so constipated, he can’t even sort out his F-E-E-L-I-N-G-S. Oops, do you think he can spell?”

Sukuna puts out the cigarette he’d been smoking and reminds himself that Yuuji wouldn’t like it if his friends up and disappeared one day. Not even if they were the ones provoking him, “Don't you two lesbians have anything better to do? Like go fuck in a car or blow shit up?”

Maki laughed, “Fucked already, currently blowing shit up, is it working? How close to exploding do you think you are on a scale of one shit to five shits?”

“Maybe we should show him the other pictures Yuuji sent us,” Nobara grinned, taking out her phone from her pocket.

And hell no, Sukuna did not freeze and no, he also didn’t relax slightly when Megumi’s monotone voice announced, “There are no other pictures.”

Sukuna considers his options. At this time of night, he was blessed with no witnesses and both Maki and Nobara were huddled on the ghats so close to the river that he really had the perfect situation to get away with murder. As if sensing his thoughts, Megumi sighed, “You’re proving them right, you know.”

Sukuna had planned to spare Megumi but perhaps a little scare would do wonders on the kid.

“Besides,” Nobara adds, “We’re Yuuji’s friends. We should be endorsing his slut era, not getting mad. What kind of a boyfriend are you?”

“The kind,” Sukuna grits out, “that gives no shits. I’m out. Get yourselves home you pack of stray delinquents.”

As he walks away, Nobara yells out, “You’re like two years older than Maki!”

“Yeah, two years on each of her ass hairs!” he yells back.

(And no, he did not let the three of them get into his car and he certainly didn’t drop them all off at Maki’s place. He left their asses by the river, went home and silently contemplated his revenge).

.

.

His revenge comes to him at the ass crack of dawn and if he hightails it to the local flower shop and shoves a few bills onto the counter with a single request ( I need a bouquet that aggressively says fuck you)...well, he thinks he’s perfectly justified. And no, him having slept only 2 hours has nothing to do with anything

Sadly, the first flower shop employee has no clue what kind of bouquet that would be (the fuck! What kind of person works at a flower shop and doesn’t know flower language?! He leaves the shop while calling the guy a useless idiot and that maybe Sukuna should give him a fuck you bouquet), while the second refuses to make it for him, even after (or perhaps especially after) he threatens to burn the place down. Figuratively. He’d never actually do that but apparently the guy didn’t know and he’d hightailed it back to his car before the guy could untangle himself enough to call for help

It’s only after he’s driven around for about 2 hours that he finds some dingy old flower shop willing to give him what he wants. The owner looks like he’s at least 500 years old but he laughs at the request.

“Youngsters these days, so full of passion. This for your girl?”

“More like a snotty nosed brat,” he grumbles, his fingers tapping against the counter.

The old man just nods, “It’s a nice gift.”

Sukuna grins, “Won’t know what hit him. Bet he’d be too stupid. Hey, add one that means stupid in there.”

The bouquet ends up being a horrifically colorful mess of reds, oranges, yellows, and purples. Sukuna thinks it’s loud, angry, and exactly what he needs. He leaves the old man a tip and pockets the pamphlet with the meaning of the flowers.

“As long as it means he’s stupid and needs to fuck off, I don’t care what else is written on there.”

The old man just laughs.

When Sukuna comes home he’s not even surprised to see Yuuji in the living room with the three parasites from last night playing on the console they set up a few months ago.

Yuuji doesn’t turn to him, too busy racing but Sukuna can hear his smile when he says, “Sukuna, you’re back! Where’d you go so early?”

Yuuji’s voice sounds tired. He even tries to stifle a yawn and Sukuna frowns, “Why are you awake? And didn’t I leave you three to rot by the river last night?”

“That’s not what you said when you tucked us in last night,” Maki teases. “Even gave Megumi a goodnight kiss.”

Megumi makes a disgusted sound, “Did not.”

“We heard some weirdo tried to rob a flower shop,” Nobara snickers. “Figured that was our cue to come see the show.”

The screen flashes their ranks in the race and Yuuji stretches, leaning back against the couch and smiles, “Kiss.”

But Sukuna doesn’t lean over to grant Yuuji’s request. Instead, he shoves the bouquet onto his waiting lips (and face). He squawks and Sukuna laughs. A few lose their petals and fall into Yuuji’s hair.

Yuuji grabs the bouquet properly and Sukuna gets a front row seat to Yuuji’s reactions. He goes from confusion to delight, his pallor replaced by a healthy red and the tiredness in his eyes flees for a moment. He smells the flowers and grins, “Someone woke up sweet today. What are these for exactly?”

Sukuna smirks, “Fuck you.”

Nobara stage sings, “F-E-E-L-I-N-Gs.”

(The bouquet ends up in the kitchen and Sukuna slips the pamphlet the old man gave him under the makeshift vase.)

notes for this fic: - the prompt is based on this tumblr post - rhapshie also mentioned: "Yuuji is confused why Sukuna gave him a buncha of flowers but he just ends up blushing furiously <333 can be AU :)" -i went the AU route and only have a vague idea of everyone's circumstances and ages. for example, i know sukuna is older than everyone and that megumi is the youngest but i'm not sure how much younger. he's like the younger brother/cousin that always tags along with his older relative and their friends. i also have a vague idea that yuuji is in his 20s. he went through 3 different occupations as i wrote this, haha -i wanted to focus on Sukuna so i made the fic from his POV. i also really wanted nobara and maki to interact with sukuna and that somehow turned him into a chihuahua and dad/older brother figure?? LOL -i was curious about the flowers and found that they all also?? mean positive things. tbh idk how flower language works but according to a very quick search, while the bouquet means fuck you, it can also 1) be an apology - carnations, 2) encourages someone who is facing a challenge - orange lilies, 3) help reduce stress and bring comfort- meadowsweet & geraniums, and 4) means protection- foxglove. sukuna knows this double meaning (he totally read the pamphlet)

Gift for Anon: “You do remember he growled at you, right? Ignore him!” Nobara pokes him on the forehead. (Ottoge, JJK)

The Incident of October 15th

Read on Ao3

tags: movie night, cuddles, fluff, established relationship, confessions, flashbacks, inspired by a tiktok, humor

note: this was written as part of a gotcha 4 gaza. if you like jjk, consider submitting a prompt here by the end of the month. you'd be helping out palestinians and getting some cool/cute fanart/fanfic for just a few bucks

——————————————————————————

They start dating after “The Incident”

What is the incident, you may be wondering…

Maki groans as Yuuta’s eyes light up, ready to tell the tale for what seems the hundredth time in the last year. Yuji looks baffled by her response and Nobara wonders if maybe she should have put a leash on him. No, she hasn’t heard the story yet and she was also curious, but if it made Maki react like that then surely whatever Yuuta was about to let leak from his mouth was nothing good.

Or, she remembers the ring on his finger and shudders, mushy

Panda smiles and says, “He loves to tell that story. I hope you’re prepared to be here all night.”

Megumi sighs because yes, he has heard the story. Multiple times. And seen the videos and edits that had (and sometimes still continue to be) circulated on social media.

Yuuji, optimistic as ever, just grins, “It can’t be that bad. Just look at how cute they’re being. They don’t even care that we’re here.”

He makes a huge gesture as if they hadn’t noticed the pair cuddling on the loveseat. It had been hard to ignore, especially when Yuuta had nearly growled at anyone who so much as tried to claim the seat next to Inumaki. And Yuuji, having first-hand experience fighting with him, had tiptoed away, hands raised in a placating manner.

There had been some shuffling and Yuuji had felt his cheeks go red when he heard Yuuta’s quiet, wait Inumaki-senpai, not there. And, Can you raise your legs for a bit? But when he’d turned to look at what they were doing, all he found was them repositioned and cuddling. Inumaki had settled between Yuuta’s legs, his eyes still concentrated solely on his Switch, but he looked relaxed with his legs outstretched and his head on Yuuta’s chest. Yuuta, meanwhile, had looked too pleased with himself, his arms around Inumaki, one of his legs cushioned under Inumaki’s, and the arm of the loveseat (probably) digging painfully into his back. They may as well have called it the Yuuta-Seat

About 15 minutes later, Maki had thrown Yuuta a pillow and he’d grinned her way in thanks.

And, not long after that, Yuuji paused the movie they were watching and asked when they’d started dating, his curiosity finally spilling into the room.

“You do remember he growled at you, right? Ignore him!” Nobara pokes him on the forehead.

“You know I’m a romantic at heart!" he gestures at the TV, which has the latest Human Earthworm movie paused (Nobara had refused to watch it in theaters but that didn’t stop Yuuji from buying it and adding it to their Movie Night collection, much to her horror). The movie is paused at the scene where Earthworm Man and Maria are holding hands near the cottage where they first met

Maki concedes, “It’s mushy as hell but also funny. We teased him for months because of it.”

Panda chuckles, “First year Yuuta was so fun to tease. He doesn’t blush like he used to.”

Inumaki raises an eyebrow at the comment and says something so softly Yuuji can’t hear but it must be something Big because Yuuta blushes to the tips of his ears. He also whines out Inumaki’s name. Yuuji can’t see it, but he’s sure Inumaki is smirking

“Touché, is he always this petty?” Nobara asks, smirking.

Inumaki says “tsuna” at the same time Maki says, “Very.”

But Panda is right. Yuuta loves to tell the story and he brings the conversation back to Yuuji’s original question

“It happened on October 15th.”

“Bonito Flakes,” Inumaki says, eyes still glued to his game, and Yuuta beams, “That’s right! It was by the station around noon.”

Nobara leans toward Maki and whispers, “That is so freaky.”

Maki whispers back, “That’s only the tip of the iceberg…”

.

.

.

The Incident does indeed happen on October 15th around noon on a slightly cloudy day near the station. Inumaki and Yuuta had finished the mission they’d been assigned and after making a quick stop for some cough candies, they were headed back to Jujutsu High. They’d gotten as far as the entrance to the station when someone called out. Neither of them had noticed it was THEM the stranger was calling out to until they tapped Yuuta’s shoulder

“Are you two together?” they ask again.

Yuuta blushes, “Us? T-together?!”

But Inumaki had been more composed and just nodded.

Yuuta’s voice cracked when he yelled out, “WE ARE?!”

The stranger laughs and tells them, “We’re interviewing people around here, asking a few questions, nothing serious. They’ve got a nose for things, that’s why I called out,” he points at the cameraperson who is waving their phone. “It’ll just be a minute or two. But we did want to post it on social media if that’s alright with you.”

Yuuta looks over at Inumaki, not sure what the protocol for this would be, but Inumaki just shrugs. The stranger grins, “Great!”

The camera starts rolling.

“So, how long have you two been together?”

Yuuta could feel sweat building on his forehead as a small mic was placed in front of his face, “We’re not-”

But Inumaki holds up two fingers.

“Two?” the stranger asks, bringing the mic back to himself,  “Like two years?”

Inumaki shakes his head, “Sujiko.”

The guy looks at Yuuta for help but even he still hasn’t deciphered the way Inumaki speaks. It was too soon. And seeing the mic move between the three of them so rapidly was doing something to his knees. He weakly replies, “Two…months…?”

Inumaki nods.

The stranger laughs, “Wow! You two even have your own coded language, that’s so cute!”

Yuuta wasn’t sure what his face was doing anymore, “Y-yeah…”

“Two months, practically newlyweds! You probably don’t have many stories to tell yet, so we’ll keep it simple. Why’d you decide to date? What’s so appealing about this timid guy? And no coded words so we can understand, yeah?” the stranger says while looking at Inumaki.

The way Inumaki makes eye contact with Yuuta is what seals it. Yuuta can tell he’s starting to realize that ‘together’ means together and a part of Yuuta doesn’t want to hear Inumaki take it back. He also thinks Inumaki-senpai’s cursed speech won’t let him answer! and I have to help somehow!

He pulls the mic to his mouth and practically shouts, “I am, I’m really timid! I can’t even feel my legs right now, that’s how nervous I am! But…but Inumaki doesn’t mind! When we first went out he tried to cheer me up! But I got so scared because I’m not used to having such amazing and caring people around me! And he’s always protecting me! And even today, I said I wanted to see the city for a bit longer before heading back and he made sure we could walk around! He’s always considerate of the people around him! And-and you can always see it in his eyes! His r-really pretty eyes…”

His face feels so hot and that must do something in his brain because suddenly, something clicks and he thinks, I like Inumaki-senpai..!

He moves closer to the camera, his face nearly taking up the whole screen, “That’s why Inumaki-senpai is great and I really like him!”

.

.

.

Nobara gapes as the Yuuta in the video gets pulled away by Inumaki and the mic drops. The video replays from the start, “I am both impressed and annoyed. Look at all the shares and likes!”

Yuuji nods, “And the comments! I bet he didn’t think he’d be confessing today, such a puppy, too bad he’s taken already. ”

But of course, that’s not the end of the story, only the start, and Yuuta lets them know all of the details the camera didn’t capture.

notes: - Even though I was excited for this prompt (domestic fluff, movie night, cuddling on the couch!!), I blanked when I actually had to start writing. But then I remembered that one video where this couple is being interviewed and the interviewer is an ass, asking the girl to explain what she brings to the table and i thought...what if Ottoge! except maybe fluffier bc cuddles <3 - I have a thing for friendships and everyone just hanging out so i made movie night into a hangout :D - October 15th is random, I needed a date after august but before december bc of the canon timeline then i remembered that i didn't remember when the worm man movie came out and was like oh no! so i added a new tag to the fic #timelinewhattimeline lol - of course yuuta is the type to remember dates. and if you ask him how long he's been dating toge, he'll give you exact days. none of this "about" stuff! xD - because of yuuji their movie night ends up waaaayyyy longer than the original (idk) 54 minute movie. bc you know he asked a 'first' question too (nobara too late to stop him)

Gift for eroda: “Ok, imagine this,” Toru tells them, her face pink and her nails lime green, “Imagine you’re stranded on an island, what would you bring with you?”. (TogaChako)

00:00

Read on AO3

tags: stranded on an island, friendship, beach fun, summer, manipulation, confusion

A/N: I like the idea of being ambiguous with the tags SO! be careful. It's rated M for stuff that's described towards the end

——————————————————————————

00:10

They decide to go to the beach in the summer, the group of them that are able to escape their work responsibilities. Mina is crying into the phone as Momo tells Ochako that they’ll have to pass on this weekend trip, but don’t worry, we’ll make the next one!

So it ends up being just her, Toru, Tsuyu, and Shouto. He looks slightly scandalized when he arrives and finds out that it wasn’t just Mina and Momo who couldn’t make it but also Iida, Ojiro, and Deku. He does try to escape, but considering it’s 3 against 1…well, the odds weren’t in his favor

Toru is the most excited, “We’ll get to show off the ikemen of our group! Everyone’s going to be so jealous!”

She hangs from his arm and pulls him back whenever he tries to slip away.

  00:09

They stay in a cabin with two rooms and too many beds.

“Do you think they’ll care if we move things around?” Tsuyu asks when Toru starts telling Shouto to help move all the beds together.

Ochako grins as she takes up the opposite end of one of the bed frames, “I’m sure it’ll be fine. We’ll just put everything back to where it was before.”

Shouto does as he’s told but can’t help but ask, “Why exactly do we have to do all this?”

“Because it’s a sleepover!” Toru exclaims, “And you’re our Plus One! It’ll be so fun! We’ll play games and tell stories and paint each other's nails!”

Shouto sighs but doesn’t argue. Tsuyu wonders aloud, “What color do you think will look best on him?”

Ochako wipes her forehead, “Red!”

Toru adds, “A green would look nice too.”

Tsuyu nods, “We should do both colors.”

Shouto looks at his fingers, then at the girls in the room and sighs in resignation.

  00:08

After they finish re-arranging the beds, they change into their bathing suits, grab some of the swimming supplies the cabin has in storage, and head over to the public beach area.

They manage to find a nice spot and Toru lays down a blanket. She turns to Shouto and grins, handing him a bottle of sunscreen, “Can you put some on my back?”

He takes the bottle and nods.

Toru kneels down on the towel and moves her hair to the side. She’s grinning and gives Ochako and Tsuyu a thumbs up when she notices the nearby beach goers whispering and looking their way. Shouto seems oblivious to the attention, kneeling behind her and lathering up her back.

Ochako giggles, whispering to Tsuyu, “He could pretend to look a bit more excited.”

Tsuyu laughs, “That’s part of his charm.”

Once Toru is all lathered up, she calls them over, “Ok Shouto, do them next!”

(She excitedly volunteers to do his back, even when he counters that he has a sweater and doesn’t need it)

  00:07

Toru struts around the beach, befriending almost everyone and with the sun glowing on her clear skin and messy curls, she has everyone’s attention.

Shouto volunteers to stay behind while they all go have fun.

Ochako and Tsuyu grab the surf boards they found at the cabin and run into the sea. They’ve never actually gone surfing but it’s probably not that hard to do

(They find out quickly that it IS hard)

  00:06

Ochako falls a total of six times and it’s on the last that she feels something… grab her. She’s not the only one to notice. Shouto, who had been content to stay out of the water and text on his phone, runs over to help her. They drag the board with them and Tsuyu comes over after she’s resurfaced from her own fall

Ochako winces when she shows them the side of her stomach. There are three scratch marks and they’ve all drawn blood. Not a lot. It’s just a surface wound and they’re sure that if she cleans it off, it’ll stop

“What happened?” Shouto asks, his eyes scanning the area. There are people swimming and splashing but none close enough to where the two were attempting to surf.

“I-I think someone grabbed me…”

Toru barrels into them, her cheeks flushed and eyes worried, “Are you ok?!”

Since the wound is minor, they all return to playing. Shouto gets roped in by the three of them and they learn that he’s the only one of their group who can surf

This time, they’re part of the beach goers who gawk

(Toru, prepared as always, snaps a selfie at the perfect moment: it shows the three of them grinning and Shouto in the distance, his demeanor cool and aloof)

  00:05

They make it back to the cabin in the evening with bags full of drinks, snacks, and some ointment. They settle around the beds piled together in the living area and Toru exclaims that she’ll paint one of Shouto’s hands red.

“You should do the other in green,” she tells Tsuyu.

Tsuyu cocks her head, “Wouldn’t it look better if we alternate the colors?”

Ochako is cleaning her wounds, wincing slightly, but agrees, “It’ll look more balanced that way.”

Shouto lets them paint his nails and even asks them to take a picture when they’re done.

He sends the picture to his brother with the manicure emoji.

His brother sends him a picture of the bird, his nails black.

But he doesn’t see the message until the next morning because he’s roped into helping the girls paint their nails.

(When they’re done, they take a selfie with all their hands posed in front of them: Shouto’s are red and mossy green, Tohru’s are lime green, Ochako’s are pink and blue, and Tsuyu’s are 3 different shades of green. Shouto sends that one too.)

  00:04

“Ok, imagine this,” Toru tells them, her face pink and her nails lime green, “Imagine you’re stranded on an island, what would you bring with you?”

“My phone,” Shouto tells them, “So I can call for help.”

Toru laughs, “That’s not a good answer! Take a drink!”

His brows furrow, “Why isn’t it a good answer?”

“What if your phone is dead? Then what? There’s no electricity!”

He’s already holding the shot, “It’ll be charged.”

Tsuyu asks, “What’s your battery at now?”

He grumbles when he shows his phone’s battery at 14%. He takes a drink.

“A motorboat,” Tsuyu tells them, “with a lifejacket inside.”

Ochako and Toru both nod, “That’s a good answer!”

Shouto frowns, “I thought we could only take one thing.”

Ochako giggles, “Well, we didn’t specify …”

Toru, who has taken the most drinks so far, belly laughs, “A guitar!”

Tsuyu smiles, “Why a guitar?”

“So I can listen to music,” she tells them.

Shouto nods, finding her answer acceptable, but Ochako asks, “Can you even play the guitar?”

Toru pauses and then laughs, “No!” She takes a drink.

“It’s your turn now, Ochako-chan,” Tsuyu tells her.

Ochako’s face is red. It has been since before they started drinking, “I think it would get lonely so…” Her face goes even redder, “Perhaps someone to spend time with…”

Toru waggles her brows, “ Someone? Anyone specific?”

Ochako laughs, “No, but, I mean, a cute girl would be nice. We could get to know each other.”

Tsuyu and Toru both nod and Shouto looks offended.

“We can bring people?! ”

The three of them laugh.

  00:03

Toru is the first to run to the bathroom after their little drinking game. Shouto looks unfazed but Tsuyu suspects he’s two seconds away from falling asleep.

And Ochako…

She rubs her side, feeling it burn slightly.

  00:02

They all end up falling asleep soon after, their bellies full of alcohol.

They have two fans running. They did little to keep them cool while they played, but somehow (now) they cause Ochako’s skin to prickle. It feels like there’s something running along her body, some type of phantom touch.

She unconsciously moves her hand across her body, her mind believing it’s some type of bug or web she can easily flick away. It works at first, but soon after the feeling returns.

Sleep sticks to her eyes, but she opens her eyes a crack to find something shimmering. She groans, closing her eyes again

I can’t believe Toru’s hair is still so bright…

  00:01

Ochako wakes in a panic, her body bracing for an impact that never comes. Her eyes fly open and it’s only when she finds her bearings that she calms. Her panic is quickly replaced by confusion when she finds she’s the only one on the pile of beds. Her friends have disappeared.

In their place is a giggle that echoes in the cabin. It’s coming from out front and she wonders if she’s woken up too late.

She tries to check the clock on the wall she’d seen when they’d arrived, but finds it missing. Her phone is also nowhere near her. That same giggle comes again and she stretches on the bed, did someone come by the cabin? She doesn’t recognize the voice

When she finally finds the energy to get out of bed, she shivers at how cold the floor is. She tiptoes to the bathroom to relieve herself and brush her teeth. She calls out to her friends while she’s still drying her face, but nobody answers her

Instead, when she opens the door, she comes face to face with a blonde girl with golden eyes. She’s grinning wide and her pale cheeks have a heavy blush on them.

“I’m so glad you’re here, Ochako-chan!”

  00:00

Ochako…doesn’t know how to react, so she furrows her brows and asks, “Who…are you?”

But the girl doesn’t hesitate. She grabs Ochako’s hand and pulls her out of the bathroom. Ochako shivers at how cold everything feels, but doesn’t pull away…even though she’s never met this girl, she doesn’t feel like she’s in danger. She feels calm, if slightly confused.

The girl pulls her onto the beds again and they bounce slightly. She giggles and when they settle down, the girl looks at her dreamily, “It’s me, Ochako-chan, Himiko! Call me Himiko, okay?”

Ochako smiles back at her, nodding, “Alright…Himiko-chan.”

Himiko’s face somehow gets even redder and it makes Ochako blush as well.

“H-Himiko-chan, where is everyone?”

Himiko’s smile becomes smaller, more intimate somehow, and when she says, “It’s just me and you today” Ochako shivers. It feels exactly like the night before when she’d felt something crawling against her skin.

  00:00:02

Ochako changes out of her pajamas. Yes, that must be what happens.

Himiko is already wearing a black two-piece that makes her pale skin even whiter. She has a sheer cover-top over it. It’s open in the front but trails behind her when she stands to grab the nail polish they’d all left by the kitchen counter.

Ochako is wearing a yellow swimsuit she doesn’t remember buying.

She wonders where she got it and then remembers.

Himiko places the swimsuit against her clothed body and grins, “This color would look good on you!”

Ochako grabs the hanger, contemplating, “Really? I don’t usually wear yellow…”

Himiko nods, dragging her to the changing room.

  00:00:07

“Let’s pretend,” Himiko tells her when she once more jumps onto the beds. She seems to float toward Ochako, “that we’re the only two on this island, ok, Ochako-chan?”

Ochako lays her hands on Himiko’s lap and grins, “Why are we pretending?”

Her nails are the natural shade of pink flesh.

She blinks at them a few times. Had she…taken off the polish?

Himiko cups her cheeks and Ochako blushes when she notices they’re much closer together.

“Because, Ochako-chan,” she feels Himiko’s whispered voice embrace her. It echoes off the cabin walls, “you said you wanted a cute girl to spend time with. Aren’t I the cutest? After you that is…”

Their lips are so close that it would take just a second to lean in

  00:00:08

Himiko’s lips are cold but smooth.

The inside of her mouth is sweet but dry.

Himiko bites her and there’s blood in their mouths. She whines Ochako’s name between their gasps.

  00:00:07

“Let’s pretend, ok?” Himiko tells her and Ochako nods.

  00:00:09

They paint their nails. The pads of Ochako’s fingers become red, the blood bright under Himiko’s hands. Her nails are pink. When Himiko blows on her fingers, Ochako has a sense of deja vu

She’s sure that Toru did this last night. Didn’t we choose two colors?

But when Himiko makes eye contact with her, she forgets.

“Do you like them, Ochako-chan? I’ve been practicing!”

Ochako smiles at her and nods, “You could be a professional! I’ll paint yours. What color do you want?”

  00:00:06

They choose red.

“I love the color red,” Himiko tells her against her skin, “It reminds me so much of blood.”

Ochako laughs, shaking the bottle.

“You’ll look so cute in red, Himiko-chan.”

She paints and paints and paints

  00:00:10

“What else do you like, Ochako-chan?” Himiko asks as they walk along the beach. The sun is already shining brightly in the sky, but the sand is warm, even a bit cool.

Ochako digs her toes into the sand as they go. It helps cool her feverish skin.

They’re holding hands, bright pink intertwined with pale fleshiness.

There’s a breeze that makes Himiko’s cover-up dance, but Ochako barely feels it.

She laughs, “Himiko-chan, how can you not know? We’ve been friends for ages!”

Himiko’s grin is wide when she pulls Ochako close.

“That’s right! We have been. I know everything about you, Ochako-chan!”

  00:00:08

Himiko’s lips are bold and demanding. They devour Ochako.

They slip under her clothes, under her skin, and glide across blood and muscle and tissue and even her soul.

  00:00:11

They swim in the beach and Ochako carries Himiko on her shoulders, dunking her in the water. There’s nobody else around to play with.

Ochako has the vague sense that they should be surfing. She’s sure they had surf boards in the cabin’s storage, but when she turns to look for it, it’s gone.

There’s only sand, palm trees, and a single willow tree. It looks wrong somehow and the roots look dry. They extend out along the beach, as if they’re hoping for a drink, but stop just before reaching their destination.

They look like hands. So many of them reaching…

Himiko sticks herself to Ochako’s back and Ochako loses her balance. They laugh

  00:00:05

It’s a cabin. It’s not as warm as Ochako recalls. The wood splinters and she winces when one gets stuck on her palm.

Himiko stares at her hand intently and offers to help her.

Ochako winces when they finally get it out and a bit of blood trickles out.

Himiko licks the droplet and grins, “All better, right?”

  00:00:59

They sit outside in the sun, their bodies lathered in sunscreen. Ochako thinks she’ll get sunburned but Himiko looks as pale as ever, almost like the sun doesn’t reach her.

Himiko’s hand is placed possessively on her side and it’s the only place that burns. The rest of Ochako’s body is cold.

They’re talking about her friends…their friends…right? Ochako wonders once again where they’ve gone. Did they go to the store? It hasn’t been very long. She’ll introduce…

No, Himiko has been with them before. She’ll tell them she changed her mind. That her job let her come over and she…she came to meet them…this morning…

“They’re so obvious,” Ochako tells her with a grin, “We all think they should just start dating already!”

But Himiko knows this already, she’d been there after all…

Himiko’s teeth are as white as the rest of her, “Should we date, Ochako-chan?”

No. Not entirely white. There’s a rudyness there.

She leans in close and Ochako feels herself falling. Himiko has no scent, even after playing in the sand and the sea. Even after running and working up a sweat. Even after Ochako spent so long painting her nails

  00:00:08

Himiko’s body is light and if Ochako hadn’t been clinging to her so tightly, she thinks it would have been just a dream.

But the way Himiko touches her is real.

She feels it at her core

  00:00:07

“Let’s pretend,” Himiko whispers into her ear.

Ochako’s face is red. The hands have reached out further. A gnarly fingertip touches the surface of the water.

It’s so close.

“Let’s pretend it’s just the two of us, stranded.”

  00:00:01

Himiko’s giggle echoes in the cabin.

Ochako yawns and smiles when her blonde girlfriend buries her face against her side.
