actually garcia that's the one part of reid's childhood that needs zero therapy ! all the other bits though. well.
morgan's reaction to hearing that elle has been shot. god. goddd. their relationship is so incredibly underrated they were such good friends.

so, i'm unsure whether garcia cutting herself off and disconnecting the call here is because she has a realization or because she doesnt want to violate reid's/his mother's privacy but i'm choosing to believe it's at least partially the second:

garcia isn't always the best with boundaries, especially because I think her job essentially being to violate peoples' privacy and her own openness as a person sometimes make it hard for her to remember that that's a thing most people care about. but she's not oblivious. she saw how reluctant reid was to even call about his mother in front of her, how much he did not want to divulge that aspect of his life.
and the thing is, she knows that reid will likely have to tell the team anyway. his mother is in the building, and even without that, he'll surely have to explain how his mother is connected to the unsub.
garcia knows all of this, knows it's going to come out, and says nothing. she lets reid share it on his own terms—as much as he can in a situation like this.
this is a pretty minor gripe in the grand scheme of things and i don't know much about the subject so i could definitely just be wrong, but. i've never understood this exchange. does margery kempe not famously have one book??

(sidenote: i don't see it spoken about nearly often enough that diana reid's favourite authour is a woman who, if she was alive today, would likely have been diagnosed with postpartum psychosis. i can't speak extensively on that parallel because i'm not especially familiar with margery kempe—i did some research on her after first watching this episode because i was curious if there was a connection, and found that out. i'm unaware of any other parallels, but if anyone more familiar with her has more insight i will love you forever if you share)

yeah. yeah. ow.

OUGGGGH i never noticed this. elle my bbg. i will come back to this later when it's relevant. ow.
GODDDDD. can we talk about hotch cleaning elle's blood off the wall himself. he could so easily have had anyone else do it but he does it himself and he does it alone. because he feels singularly guilty. can we talk about it. godddd. im going to come back to this (to his guilt specifically) when it becomes relevant again but for now just lay on the floor with me

Everyone always talks about how much Spencer loves his mother, Diana, but the relationship just hurts when you think about it.
Here Spencer is after having an incredibly long day. He flew from Las Vegas back to Quantico, figured out an extremely hard puzzle, found out his mother was in danger - then had to admit his mom is mentally ill and that he could be too one day. His mom is rude to him about his body, letters, and over the fact she was flown there to save her life. He then failed a negotiation and a man killed himself in front of him. He was hurt by a bomb, caught on fire, and helped rescue a victim while escaping a burning house.
And then after all that, he stands in front of his mom - exhausted, charred, vulnerable - and he doesn't tell her how he was hurt or about what he did. He says how she helped save Rebecca's life and Diana doesn't even look up.
Diana doesn't give any indication that she even knows who Spencer is and she doesn't ask about the ash all over him. It's clearly nighttime and she asks if it's lunchtime. She doesn't remember that she read the books she asked him about to him.
Then Spencer, even though he is so tired, has to help his mom on the flight back across the United States, while reading to her and taking care of her while Spencer has no one taking care of him.
And this is medicated, well taken care of, Diana. If this is Diana on an alright day, on medicine - what was she like when Spencer was a child.
