A woman in a grey-brown shirt and a man in a light blue-grey shirt walk out of an office breakroom, both holding blue coffee mugs, the woman also holding a clipboard. The man has his arm around the woman's shoulder. The subtitle at the bottom of the image reads: "Hot sunny days, cool breezes at night,"
The man gestures towards his coffee mug with the hand he has on the woman's shoulder. The subtitle at the bottom of the image reads: "never-ending tropical drinks with the little umbrellas and nothing"
Subtitle: "but young, beautiful adults looking to make vacation memories."
Entering an office space, the woman turns her head to face the man. The subtitles at the bottom of the image read:
-"Male and female, right?"
and
-"Elle, two weeks of pure heaven."

okay look i know why elle says "male and female, right?" (elle is jokingly making sure there will be men there as well) and why morgan says "young, beautiful adults" rather than "young, beautiful women" (because he's talking about elle, who likes men, as well as himself, who likes women) but canon is what i make it and im deciding they are bisexual. end post.

In an office, a man in a light blue-grey v-neck, holding a dark blue coffee cup, approaches the desk of a man in a light blue patterned button-up who is putting a messenger bag over his shoulder. The subtitle at the bottom of the image reads: "Pretty boy. Last chance."
The man in the light blue-grey v-neck leans over the edge of the desk of the man in the light blue patterned button-up. The subtitle at the bottom of the image reads: "I can get my man to swing you a hotel room for practically nothing."
The man in the light-blue patterned button-up looks unenthused, looking down and sorting through floppy disks. In the background, a woman in a greyish top smiles. The subtitle at the bottom of the image reads: "Even you might get a little loving out there."

every day i think about elle and morgan going on vacation together and at least morgan wanting reid to come with. what were their intentions. were they bisexual in nature. also im also almost certain that this is the first time morgan calls reid "pretty boy" and it's while he's inviting him on vacation with him. it's 2005/2006 you cannot be this bisexual at your government job.

bonus:

A zoomed in version of the third image, focusing on the woman smiling in the background.

yeah i think elle also wanted him to join them.

A dark-haired woman indoors, slightly blurred, as if in motion. The subtitle at the bottom of the image reads: "Well, this guy likes to write things in blood on walls."

the choice of what character delivers this line is totally random. totally. hh.

i love this line and this scene in general so much. they're trying to figure out what "hour be none" means and reid walks in and gives the answer (with some mostly unnecessary but endearing additional info) and elle responds so affectionately. i really loved their dynamic, however you view it.

Indoors, a woman in a dark zip-up top and white gloves points at a man in a yellowish striped button-up with his back to the viewer. Behind the woman's head is text written in blood, some of which is obscured by the angle and by her head, but what can be read says "HERE THY QU (obscured) D (obscured) H TRULY B (obscured)" The subtitle at the bottom of the image reads: "Reid, do not ever go away again."

bonus (cropped from the next shot):

The man in the yellowish striped button-up (also wearing a dark blue tie, with a brown bag strap over his left shoulder) smiles.

also the parallel of this scene being followed by haley coming to the bau saying that someone came to her and hotch's house to deliver a package,,,both of them having their "safe place" invaded (both of their significant others being involved as well). ow.

HOTCH: What is it? What's wrong? What's the matter with you? GIDEON: I...I just have nothing left. HOTCH: Yeah, I'm tired, too. GIDEON: No, no, no. I needed a place where I didn't have to know what was out there. Where I could just close my eyes and not see bodies torn to pieces or hear children calling out for help. That cabin was the only thing I had left, and this guy took it away from me. HOTCH: Jason... GIDEON: Maybe I'm out of gas.

rewatching criminal minds causes me zero agony (lie)

and hey, what's one more invasion? just for good measure?

In a living room, a figure dressed in dark clothing points a gun at a woman sleeping on a couch.

In a room filled with computer screens, a woman in a dark shirt with a red streak in her hair looks and smiles slightly at someone offscreen. The subtitle at the bottom of the image reads: "Your mom read you Valentine's poems? Hello, therapy."

actually garcia that's the one part of reid's childhood that needs zero therapy ! all the other bits though. well.

so, i'm unsure whether garcia cutting herself off and disconnecting the call here is because she has a realization or because she doesnt want to violate reid's/his mother's privacy but i'm choosing to believe it's at least partially the second:

A woman with a dark shirt and red streak in her hair in a room with computer screens. She has a mic. The subtitle at the bottom of the image reads: "he spent a few years in a Vegas sanitarium. Bennington."
The same woman, although the computer screens are no longer visible, replaced with a greenish wall cast in shadow. The subtitles at the bottom of the image read:
-"That mean something to you?"
and
-"Yeah, that's where..."
Subtitles:
-"Garcia?"
and
-"I gotta go."

garcia isn't always the best with boundaries, especially because I think her job essentially being to violate peoples' privacy and her own openness as a person sometimes make it hard for her to remember that that's a thing most people care about. but she's not oblivious. she saw how reluctant reid was to even call about his mother in front of her, how much he did not want to divulge that aspect of his life.

and the thing is, she knows that reid will likely have to tell the team anyway. his mother is in the building, and even without that, he'll surely have to explain how his mother is connected to the unsub.

garcia knows all of this, knows it's going to come out, and says nothing. she lets reid share it on his own terms—as much as he can in a situation like this.

this is a pretty minor gripe in the grand scheme of things and i don't know much about the subject so i could definitely just be wrong, but. i've never understood this exchange. does margery kempe not famously have one book??

Indoors, a woman in a grey cardigan and yellow shoulderbag that resembles a wicker basket. The night sky is visible through the rectangular windows behind her. The subtitle at the bottom of the image read: "Dr. Jessen gave me the book you brought. Margery Kempe."
A man in a yellow striped button-up and dark blue tie smiles. Behind him is a greenish wall. The subtitles at the bottom of the image read: "She's your favorite."
The woman in the grey cardigan, although she has moved to a section of the room with a plant and couch. The subtitle at the bottom of the image reads: "That particular book is one of her minor works."

(sidenote: i don't see it spoken about nearly often enough that diana reid's favourite authour is a woman who, if she was alive today, would likely have been diagnosed with postpartum psychosis. i can't speak extensively on that parallel because i'm not especially familiar with margery kempe—i did some research on her after first watching this episode because i was curious if there was a connection, and found that out. i'm unaware of any other parallels, but if anyone more familiar with her has more insight i will love you forever if you share)

A distressed woman indoors. The lighting is bright, harsh, and overexposed. The out-of-focus figure of a man in blue is visible in the foreground. The subtitle at the bottom of the image reads: "I said, "I hate you, Daddy.""
Subtitle: "Those are the last words that I ever said to you."

yeah. yeah. ow.

A woman in a grey-brown sweater sits on a red armchair patterned with white flowers indoors. The subtitle at the bottom of the image reads: "The last thing she did was fight with her daughter."
The woman in the grey-brown sweater turns her head to face someone off-screen. The subtitle at the bottom of the image reads: "Can you imagine what that feels like?"

OUGGGGH i never noticed this. elle my bbg. i will come back to this later when it's relevant. ow.

GODDDDD. can we talk about hotch cleaning elle's blood off the wall himself. he could so easily have had anyone else do it but he does it himself and he does it alone. because he feels singularly guilty. can we talk about it. godddd. im going to come back to this (to his guilt specifically) when it becomes relevant again but for now just lay on the floor with me

In a dimly lit room indoors, a man in a white button-up with the sleeves rolled up and white gloves cleans the word "RULES" off the wall, which has been written in blood. There is a red bucket by his feet.

Everyone Always Talks About How Much Spencer Loves His Mother, Diana, But The Relationship Just Hurts
Everyone Always Talks About How Much Spencer Loves His Mother, Diana, But The Relationship Just Hurts
Everyone Always Talks About How Much Spencer Loves His Mother, Diana, But The Relationship Just Hurts

Everyone always talks about how much Spencer loves his mother, Diana, but the relationship just hurts when you think about it.

Here Spencer is after having an incredibly long day. He flew from Las Vegas back to Quantico, figured out an extremely hard puzzle, found out his mother was in danger - then had to admit his mom is mentally ill and that he could be too one day. His mom is rude to him about his body, letters, and over the fact she was flown there to save her life. He then failed a negotiation and a man killed himself in front of him. He was hurt by a bomb, caught on fire, and helped rescue a victim while escaping a burning house.

And then after all that, he stands in front of his mom - exhausted, charred, vulnerable - and he doesn't tell her how he was hurt or about what he did. He says how she helped save Rebecca's life and Diana doesn't even look up.

Diana doesn't give any indication that she even knows who Spencer is and she doesn't ask about the ash all over him. It's clearly nighttime and she asks if it's lunchtime. She doesn't remember that she read the books she asked him about to him.

Then Spencer, even though he is so tired, has to help his mom on the flight back across the United States, while reading to her and taking care of her while Spencer has no one taking care of him.

And this is medicated, well taken care of, Diana. If this is Diana on an alright day, on medicine - what was she like when Spencer was a child.
