DAY 3 (JULY 9TH): STORY TO STORY
Like most people I truly like the most Dark Signer arc
Characters really shone there. For me, Yusei is more human there. We see how he struggles with carrying his last name, the guilt he feels because of his father ( though his father was innocent bless his heart) We see just why he tries to be so damn perfect all the time.
Jack is not discount Kaiba character, we see his past and why he stole Yusei’s duel runner and Stardust, but also he overcomes that so he can create new path for himself.
Crow is more than Robin Hood wanna be, he wants to overcome the place of his birth, but not like Jack lying about where is he from, but saying proudly who he is and breaking the stereotypes.
Aki is slowly realising that the place she called home is messed up organisation who wants to use her for her powers and they have no claims killing those who oppose them or they don’t meet heir expectations.
For Leo and Luna ( this may be difficult for me to explain since English is not my first language) but I feel like they lived their lives in roles. Luna as sickly, timid sister and Leo brave one who must protect her. I feel like facing the Dark Signer together, they realised they can break off the roles they played together and they can be just normal siblings.
Kiryu was also amazing character, I won’t comment his later development; but damn did they show gang leader mentality. At one point he truly felt he can do whatever because wow we control the whole sector, but yeah, reality hit him hard in the face. I actually shed a tear when he settled thing with Yusei :)
I wish there wasn’t a scandal with Carly’s voice actor, since plot would go at the direction writers attended. Arcadia movement would have a lot more role and the person who told Goodwin about Earthbound Immortal ( I assume) would be more significant for the plot, and maybe the whole Iliaster arc would go in totally different direction. I still liked the rest of the 5d’s but it was obvious that there was a change in authors.
