DAY 1 (JULY 7TH): STARDUST ACCELERATION
Accelerate! We’re kicking off into overdrive by starting this month off with our hero of the hour! Rev it up by showing us how YOU celebrate Yusei Fudo’s birthday!
I am celebrating by putting his theme on repeat :) Happy birthday Yusei!
DAY 2 (JULY 8TH): SINK OR SAIL As good captains, we all have a ship we’d set sail on. Which is yours?
When I first started watching 5d’s my favourite shipp were Yusei/Aki, but damn NOTHING can compare to Jack/Carly.
Although it’s true that Aki has a lot of character development, that is expected since she’s one of the main characters. I thought Carly would be random NPC that follows Jack in hope she will get her scoop. I love how their relationship progressed from roommates ( lol) to someone who Jack wanted to protect at all cost.
The way Jack is shocked that Carly is Dark Signer, the way he admits she’s the one who helped him in a way rebirth as a new person, she’s the one who gave him strength to walk on his own path; those are all reasons why I love them together.
They will forever be my favourite shipp :)
DAY 3 (JULY 9TH): STORY TO STORY
Like most people I truly like the most Dark Signer arc
Characters really shone there. For me, Yusei is more human there. We see how he struggles with carrying his last name, the guilt he feels because of his father ( though his father was innocent bless his heart) We see just why he tries to be so damn perfect all the time.
Jack is not discount Kaiba character, we see his past and why he stole Yusei’s duel runner and Stardust, but also he overcomes that so he can create new path for himself.
Crow is more than Robin Hood wanna be, he wants to overcome the place of his birth, but not like Jack lying about where is he from, but saying proudly who he is and breaking the stereotypes.
Aki is slowly realising that the place she called home is messed up organisation who wants to use her for her powers and they have no claims killing those who oppose them or they don’t meet heir expectations.
For Leo and Luna ( this may be difficult for me to explain since English is not my first language) but I feel like they lived their lives in roles. Luna as sickly, timid sister and Leo brave one who must protect her. I feel like facing the Dark Signer together, they realised they can break off the roles they played together and they can be just normal siblings.
Kiryu was also amazing character, I won’t comment his later development; but damn did they show gang leader mentality. At one point he truly felt he can do whatever because wow we control the whole sector, but yeah, reality hit him hard in the face. I actually shed a tear when he settled thing with Yusei :)
I wish there wasn’t a scandal with Carly’s voice actor, since plot would go at the direction writers attended. Arcadia movement would have a lot more role and the person who told Goodwin about Earthbound Immortal ( I assume) would be more significant for the plot, and maybe the whole Iliaster arc would go in totally different direction. I still liked the rest of the 5d’s but it was obvious that there was a change in authors.

DAY 4 (JULY 10TH): SONGS TO FIX A D-WHEEL TO
My favourite song from 5d’s. Yeah, super sad etc, but whenever it played some amazing moments happened.

DAY 5 (JULY 11TH): BLOOM OF THE BLACK ROSE

DAY 6 (JULY 12TH): AS ABOVE, SO BELOW
Heaven or hell. Signers or Dark Signers. The Crimson Dragon vs the Earthbound Immortals. Whose side are you on?
Ofc on Signers side. I already talked about in one of previous days why I think this is the best arc in 5d’s, but I will just use this opportunity to say I love Misty too very much as a character. Wish there were some side episodes in which they show how she bonds with Carly. And it would be interesting had the writers followed original plan and made Crow a Dark Signer.
DAY 7 (JULY 13TH): THIS TOWN AIN’T BIG ENOUGH

Joking aside, I am glad we got a closure on Kiryu’s and Yusei’s relationship. I am glad he found peace withing himself and those two random orphaned kids got a father figure.
It’s a shame KIryu remembers his Dark Signer days, but Carly doesn’t
DAY 8 (JULY 14TH): POWER PLAY

DAY 9 (JULY 15TH): FLY YOUR COLORS
The team who got short end of the stick: Team Ragnarok
Imagine being Chosen ones with having literal Gods at your side ( complete with eye powers) only to find out that you are chosen to create bridge so the real MC can go and fight final boss.
I love their decks and in fact created one Nordic gods deck in Yu Gi Oh duel links :)
Also team Unicorn, lol they were literally the step away from victory and Jean went and destroyed all that hard work. I would kick him out of the team xD
Watching this arc it was super obvious that some plot lines were discarded which was such a shame. Such as Neo Domino city being a literal utopia while most of the world is torn with war/poverty and they even nerfed some of the 5d’s members, such as Aki! Was super sad about that, but I still love the entire 5d’s :)
DAY 10 (JULY 16TH): FREE DAY I/INTRODUCTION DAY
I love cats so much I even have a cat tattoo.

DAY 11 (JULY 17TH): FLY, BLACKBIRD!
Yay Crow. So short version, I love him. Kinda longer version:
What I like the most about him how he always sticks to his principles. He was first to abandon Team Satisfaction because he didn’t agree with Kiryu’s method. Story about Pearson, Bolton and Crow was also very sad, but kinda fitting? Again, Crow and Pearson were men of principles and wanted to change Satellite, from within and not from comfort of Neo Domino city.
What’s also great about him is how he inspires kids from Satellite. He showed the orphan it doesn’t matter where you come from, you can overcome prejudices people have about you.
He is also a great friend and I think understands Yusei the most. When Yusei was overcome with emotions during his duel with Roman he really gave the support Yusei desperately needed.
“Yusei, I didn’t know you were burdened with those feelings. I’m sorry. I’m your friend. I should’ve noticed. But Yusei, I never thought for a second that you or your father ruined my life! So you don’t need to feel responsible! If I believed in destiny, it would only be about meeting you! Only about meeting you and Jack, two irreplaceable friends! Yusei, win for us!”
DAY 12 (JULY 18TH): STAR-CROSSED LOVERS
Have you ever wanted to see the cast of Yu-Gi-Oh 5ds paired up with someone from another show entirely? Wanna see Yusei Fudo in a relationship with Dawn from Pokemon? Now’s your chance! Anything is possible today!
I am so boring but I always only shipped Yusei and Aki and Jack/Carly. Though I didn’t get those shipps ( even if there were feelings there) so in a way they are star-crossed lovers for me, lol.
DAY 13 (JULY 19TH): FLIP THE SCRIPT
Look, at the end of the day I didn’t mind that Zone wasn’t Yusei, but I kinda wish he was? I think it would be an amazing arc, if Zone was Yusei, it would be nice to see his past self ( current Yusei) fight against him, and even seeing Aki and co assist him. It would have nice message, sometimes we lose ourselves in despair, but people in our life CAN help us.
DAY 14 (JULY 20TH): WORDS HAVE POWER

DAY 15 (JULY 21ST): SPIRIT WORLD WALKER
The holy light of protection, now cross and become eternal life! She may be small, but she sure is mighty! Bow down to the protector of the Spirit World- Rua/Luna! Today’s day is all about her!
Not going to talk about her too much since I already did in previous days, so here’s some pics of her <3

DAY 16 (JULY 22ND): ME AND MY OC
I want to say I created one OC, but it more of a sketch? As in, I wanted to create someone who I would shipp with Crow, since I really like Crow, but how would that work since Crow really likes kids and I don’t want him to have children with my OC XD I just want him and OC to live chill life and maybe create some upgraded version of what Martha did with Satellite children. That woman is a saint.
DAY 17 (JULY 23RD): POLAR OPPOSITES
At first I wanted to show Rex from his Satellite days and him in Neo Domino city, but I think Ushio is a better choice.
Ushio is a person who used to be bully and in fact he bullied our very own Yugi
It is canon that Ushio from season 0 and 5d’s is the same person, confirmed by Yu Gi Oh creator. When we see him next time he’s a member of Sector Security with the same bullying tendencies. We see him as someone who looks down on people from Satellite, and someone who is full of prejudices about them. He becomes obsessive of Yusei, because Yusei is the one who escaped Satellite( in Ushio mind someone who rise up more than his place, people from Satellite are to stay down and live in poverty)
I think he started to change with the influence of Martha. I think seeing Martha and what she does for children is the first time he actually saw people from Satellite as people. In his mind he knows how the system works and he thinks people should be satisfied with their place.
Thanks to Taka and Martha he starts slowly changing his prejudice ways. Of course it helped a lot that Yusei by defeating Rex changed how things work in Neo Domino City, and Satellite is even connected to the NDS.
Later he becomes officer that a lot of people aspire to be, someone who wants to protect all people.
Years later there is not a trace of person he used to be and he stays in NDC.
What I like about his character the most is how he gradually changed. He changed his ways slowly due to circumstances and from his own learnt that he was wrong. When you realise on your own that you are wrong, those changes are permanent.
Also, I don’t like Mine, but his crush on her is very cute lol.
DAY 18 (JULY 24TH): HEART OF THE DRAGON
I always loved Rua. His enthusiasm and belief in justice is inspiring, not to mention he never felt any prejudice. Even when at one point all of his classmates thought he was the weakest one, he never gave up. I loved when he became a Signer. Crimson Dragon acknowledged his pure heart and made him his chosen duelist. Amazing moment :)
DAY 19 (JULY 25TH): FLEX YOUR CANON
We all have our different headcanons about the characters or story. What are yours? It can be anything from changing canon to implementing your own ideas!
This is kinda self indulging since most of my shipps end together but xd
-As per canon, Yusei stays in NDC, he’s single all the time, Akiza is successful doctor and has occasional relationships
-All the Signers meet up at least once a year to spend time together/catch up
-Jack is his usual self and is bantering with Crow who always say he will be the next King
-Rua is making name for himself, Luna blossoms and has a lot of friends/enjoying her time in university
-Kiryu finds peace within himself and is doing something similar as Martha did with Satellite children, takes care of children/lost youth in Satisfaction town
-Yusei is successful scientist and is making progress with his fathers work, he duels only for fun now (thank God) or when is asked to make a guest appearance in Duel school
-Sherry is still thirsty for Yusei ( she feels only passion though not love) but Yusei is playing dense
-In one of those met ups, Yusei and Aki are finally in place where they don’t put each other on pedestal . Aki accepted herself and loves herself, she’s grateful for all the things Yusei did for her, but love she feels for him is genuine, not the one that comes from feeling thankful. Yusei knows she doesn’t need his help anymore, and is happy she can stand on her own. He loves her for a strong woman she is. They have long distance relationship and eventually they make plans for moving in together.
-Jack in secret relationship with Carly all the time ( secret for public, his friends know)
-Tired of getting rejected by Yusei all the time, Shirley and Crow hook up, but will they be in a relationship only time will tell. For now, they are happy with how things are
