See, that's what I'd like to know. Why is Kiryu the only one who got to take advantage of the angst potential of remembering being a dark signer? Can you imagine how good it could have been to do that with more people than just him? (Misty, maybe? Also Carly. Carly. HELLO.)
It also feels a bit wasted because, well... Crashtown is the last time Kiryu shows up in person. That's it. I think it would sting less if fully redeemed post-Crashtown Kiryu got to make a few more cameos later, but he doesn't. (All he does is become a young single dad of two orphans, which.... good for him?)

So.I lost on purpose ( yeah I keep telling myself that) just to see if there is special dialogue, and the last picture is pretty much how it went down in their first duel in anime. Yusei was supposed to lose, but his duel runner broke down and he had glass in his abdomen so yeah xd

I see Kiryu is also a faithsipper XD There were more moments but idiot me didn’t screenshot them, but, Aki talked more how Yusei gave her meaning and Kiryu talked how Aki will feel despair when he finishes Yusei xd

Joking aside, I am glad we got a closure on Kiryu’s and Yusei’s relationship. I am glad he found peace withing himself and those two random orphaned kids got a father figure.
It’s a shame KIryu remembers his Dark Signer days, but Carly doesn’t
DAY 25 (JULY 31ST): DEAD GUY WALKING
Former Dark Signer, leader of Team Satisfaction/The Enforcers, and a brooding man looking for some satisfaction. Today’s day is all about Kalin Kessler/Kyosuke Kiryu!
First, he’s not really good in naming his team xD Second, my God that uniform
Also look at Crow, he only had one tracker ( also what was the point of having more than one? xD)
Joking aside, writers really showed gang mentality with that one. Kiryu thought nothing can stop them, not even when members started leaving,he wanted to show the world how tough they are, even attacking Sector Security, but reality hit him in the face.
I honestly liked him even when he was Dark Signer, because his character arc got full circle. He starts as hopeful youth who wants to rise above shitty place where he lives, becomes paranoid he will lose everything he had worked for, lose himself into the darkness, becomes lost in despair, but allows to be helped by a friend, finds new meaning and again become hopeful and kind person he used to be. Also, I love this quote
I also like how his deck in Crash town is based on Russian roulette He was really self destructive during that time, which his deck showed.
But look at his happy little smile when everything ended :)
