Deltarune Theory - Tumblr Posts
ok so REALLY WEIRD DELTARUNE THING I FOUND OUT
so, i forgot where i found this, but theres this company. royal sciences LLC. they published undertale and deltarune.. if you go to open corporates ( a site to transmit information around corporations to battle corruption) you can see the company right there! if you go to justia trademarks it also says they published undertale. now in royal sciences LLC there is this guy who is called nathan r deleault.. who was removed? and toby fox worked there and he was also removed. (by removed i mean they were fired/quit/ stopped working at the company ) also royal sciences sounds like royal scientist. GASTER CORPORATION!?!?1/?!1//!?
Yall time to pull a woody theory (let the brainrot start...)
Hi, yes, I'm in and out like potato stuck in a roller coaster cart, sorry
THAT SAID:
Has anyone actual,y considered the fact that at the end of chapter two of deltarune the TV goes from standard boring to creepy smile INSTANTLY like
The dark world has LITERALLY JUST STARTED EXISTING and this TV grows halfway too a face. Sure, it may be just the process of transforming, but this says Things that I am too tired to figure out.
Ima theory dum—
random order
SpOliErs!!!!
Kinda funny prediction, so, like, Toriels gonna be traveling with Kris now since they made another Dark World in their house, right?
Uhh, are we gonna have to bring all those shadow crystals together and maybe help the bosses? Like, I got sad when I was talking to the other salesmen about Spamton. I wanted to help Jevil and Spamton.
um, heheh…so like, I hope we get to have Sans joining us on our Dark World adventure. Just hoping for that.
Also, the secret bosses, are their stories gonna get darker. Cause, Jevil saying we’re the one’s not free and Spamton with his…word choices, theeeeey freaked the hell out of me!
Uhhhhhhhh, did Kris open the door so someone can go in? Ehhh, kinda confused about that theory.
Heheh, [mike] is the next villain of Chapter three I heard. To explain, I heard somewhere that the secret bosses say the name of the villian for the next chapter. Jevil said “Queen” and Spamton eerily mentioned mike. Like, the tv smiling at the end of the game...pog
I have a theory on deltarune.i think that the prophecy could have been talking about different people. One reason is that it says a prince from the dark.not which Prince, what the the prince could do, or anything.for all we know it could be lancer and that's why he is still in the story when you get to cyberworld and probably in more chapters.another thing is that it has to have a monster as the other part of the trio.same with the prince from the dark situation but there are sooo many monsters for example, it could be noelle because she fights with you and the fact that she is shown to have emence power in the snowgrave route and even though it has Susie and ralesi on the prophecy it could be faking us out on who is in the prophecy.anyways that's my theory
A possible easter egg in Queen’s serial number (not the popular one)
Queen’s full name is Serial Number Q5U4EX7YY2E9N, right? It is well known that after getting rid of the numbers and some letters it gives us, well, Queen.
Once, after I remembered this fact, I was curious if the numbers in it meant anything. (I watched too many theories) I browsed the numbers, 54729, and it gave me a zip code for some county in Wisconsin, Chippewa Falls. I was bored enough to check it’s Wikipedia, and it appears to be a birthplace of some guy named Seymour Cray, right? Well, he was, according to the Wikipedia, “an American electrical engineer and supercomputer architect who designed a series of computers that were the fastest in the world for decades”, called "the father of supercomputing.
Nice. (Queen is a computer ofc)
-> Note that the way I got to this was so random this may be as well a complete coincidence.
Do you know the chess theory?
In very short summary, it says that Deltarune's bosses are based on chess pieces. You should find it on YouTube if you aren't familiar with it.
As someone who believes it's true, I noticed that the king and the queen are the only pieces that appear only once on each side of the board. The others appear twice, not counting pawns.
I got the idea that future chapters could have two final bosses and two secret bosses. Maybe the route you're taking (pacifist/neutral) would determine which one you're fighting.
But then...! I remembered...! The Woody Theory! (The next s. boss is based on Woody from Toy Story and Toby's "Friend Inside Me" shitpost) If the next secret boss would have a sentient speaker box inside them, that could count as two people! And therefore two pawn pieces.
DELTARUNE PREDICTION:
I think we'll see an Addison in Chapter 3. There are ads on TV just like how there are ads on the internet. Why couldn't they be represented by the same type of Darkner? And we've already seen a Maus in the Green Room, so we know it's possible for Cyber World Darkners to exist in Chapter 3's dark world.
Also, it'd be crazy if this Addison was named Mike.
I have a DELTARUNE theory.
Every long term memory all darkners have ever had are fake. Why? Their darkner form cannot exist without the fountain. Without it, they’re just objects in the light world.
That brings me to my theory.
Since that is true, the longest lasting memory for any darkner except Ralsei was the first few moments of being turned into a conscious person. If they even are conscious and not figments of reality. So, Lancer’s statement of hoping to be awarded “Son of the Month” by his dad is fake, and he may not know it. Jevil says that a while ago, he was locked inside the cage he is in. If that is true, which it could be, it has to be very recent since in the prophecy it says that recently that fountain appeared.
This also brings me to my next theory. Kris is the knight and/or the dark worlds cannot exist without Kris.
Tell me what you guys think :3
@fwugradiation
What if Susie is the knight?
Deltarune theory #2‼️
Okay, so a few days ago I replayed deltarune for probably the 9th time maybe more. I was paying extra close attention for my fancomic to dialogue and stuff to make sure I don’t mischaracterize anyone and get more information. This time I played, I made sure to pay extra attention to Susie.
Point #1: She was never that shocked about entering the Dark World when they actually got in. She may have been scared at first in the closet scene, but she got used to it VERY quickly. She could just adapt easily, but you never know.
Point #2: She prefers the Dark World much more than the light world. It could be because of her possibly terrible home life, but I still think it’s because she’s the knight.
Point #3 (the big one): She talks about opening more dark fountains even after Ralsei says it will cause the roaring. It’s like she ignores that completely. In the beginning of chapter 1, she says “If the world is ending, it’s not my problem.” She also says “your choices don’t matter.” Which could be that she knows that Kris is possessed, OR she is going to cause The Roaring anyway.
Point #4: She was late to class on the first day, which could be that she opened the fountain in the unused classroom after opening the one in the closet if she hadn’t beforehand. She also could’ve opened the fountain in the computer lab that night as well.
In conclusion, I think Susie is The Roaring Knight. This is a huge stretch of a theory, but I think this is the type of shit Toby would pull on us. I know that most of these points can be used to describe other things, but you know
This is some really tasty analysis, highly recommend reading it
The basic premise of this theory is that the Angel from the prophesy and everything that relates to them ends up being the player, and there's a lot of really good arguments in that favor. I hadn't really thought about it from this perspective before and it totally makes sense
drink up
I'm replying on my UTDR metaposting blog, I hope that's fine
As more people pointed out, Chara is not a "prince", even if they were to be in the game in this sense. Toby Fox wouldn't literally misgender a character just to do a red herring in a prophecy he wrote. Second of all, Undertale and Deltarune are completely unrelated. There are themes that were introduced in Undertale that carry over to Deltarune, and there are definitely parallels between the two games, but these worlds are not the same continuity and the creator explicitly told people that they should not be thought of as the same continuity.
It also does seem weird that of all three of the characters you point as "fitting the prophecy to a tee" Kris is the only one who actually resembles the character sillouette shown in the prophecy image. You'd think either all of them match, or none of them match. It's really hard to find inconsistence like the one you're theorizing to be real in Toby's storytelling. This is simply not how these games are constructed.
List of other characters that fit the prophecy to a tee according your own logic:
- Kris, Susie, Ralsei (this i personally believe is a red herring because Ralsei is an unreliable narrator AND he doesn't resemble the sillouette of the prince of the dark as closely as Kris and Susie resemble theirs)
- Kris, Susie and Lancer (he's more of a prince than Chara because he's literally the son of a king in this same continuity)
- Frisk, Sans and Asriel (since we're putting undertale into the mix)
- The player, Monster Kid and Gaster (you have to wonder why Gaster is always associated with the dark, no? He certainly fits the role of a prince)
- Chara, Asriel back from university, The Knight
Seriously, the list goes on. If all you're evaluating is the single sentence ("A HUMAN, a MONSTER, and a PRINCE FROM THE DARK"), it is way too vague to draw any conclusions. It could literally be anyone. Chara is not in Deltarune in the same way they are in Undertale, if they're there at all. I know about the theory that they interrupt Gaster in the goner maker and I do believe it has merit, but I don't think we have enough information to say anything conclusive about Chara, the prince from the dark, or anyone else in this prophecy.
I'm sorry, but the fact that Kris, Gaster, and Chara fit the Deltarune prophecy to a tee just can not be overlooked.
P.S. And when you consider that both Chara and Gaster are shown to have knowledge of other worlds and that ALL THREE OF THESE PEOPLE KNOW OF YOUR EXISTENCE, all of a sudden it doesn't seem so coincidental.

Strange things are happening inside me
(I’m a Woody truther and this is a quick design of him that came to me in a prophetic nightmare)
EUREKA, UTDR THEORISTS.
I have been working on a theory regarding all of our repetitive smiles. All the weird smiles we don't know the meaning of in Undertale and Deltarune? That theory attempts to solve this mystery.
I call this theory, the Cheshire Smiles Theory, or the Consequences Theory. Bear with me on this one because it'll be a wild [Ride Around Town].
Disclaimer, this theory bases itself off the "Chara is the consequence, not the villain" theory, the "Kris hates us" theory, the overpopular "MysteryMan is Gaster's sprite" theory and the whole shtick of the secret bosses seeking out freedom. This theory also bases itself around the concept of Consequences a LOT. If you don't believe/like any of those theories, read at your own risks and don't get angry at me. I warned.
What is a cheshire cat's smile?
Smiling like a cheshire cat, as defined by google, goes as follows : "The Chesire Cat grin is an expression made by The Trickster who's up to something, and 'something' never bodes well for the person they are smiling at. Usually, it involves their total humiliation - occasionally it involves mortal danger."
Alternatively, a cheshire cat smile can be compared to the very literal meaning of it : The smile found on the enigmatic Cheshire Cat from Alice in Wonderland. The peculiar traits we'll focus on here will be the enigmatic smiles behind which he hides, as well as its ability to disappear and appear at any time.
In Undertale and Deltarune, however, smiles are relatively common. Happy smiles like Papyrus and Undyne's, embarassed smiles like Alphys', fake smiles like Rouxls Kaard's, hopeful smiles like Asgore's and Asriel's, evil smiles like KING's and somewhat Queen's? But most notably Flowey (the absolute king of evil and fake smiles here). This leaves a type of smile : The type of smile found on Chara, Spamton, Jevil, Sans to an extent, MysteryMan/Gaster, Spamton NEO, Kris in the Ch1 ending, and the TV's smile in the Ch2 ending. Those, are which I'll refer to as cheshire smiles, and I believe they come from a specific cause : Consequences. Those smiles that seem to appear and disappear when we least expect it? They're all thanks to the consequences of actions. Ours, theirs, actions overall. And I'm going to explain why.
Undertale's Cheshire smiles
The most obvious cheshire smile I think about here is Chara's. Chara, the demon that comes when you call its name. You only see their smile upon completing either a No Mercy run, or a Post NoMercy Pacifist run. Chara is the literal embodiment of the consequences of our actions, here to delete our world regardless of our choice after a No Mercy run, here to remind us of our actions if we try a Pacifist afterwards. Chara is there. Chara remembers. Chara reminds. Chara is the consequence we deserve. And their smile is engraved in our game, as a consequence of making the underground go empty. And it will be there every single time.
Chara here is the whole basis of why this theory exists. A smile that we don't expect, a smile that randomly appears, and a smile motivated by the consequences of our actions. The perfect place to start. Chara is going to be our standart for what a Cheshire smile means in Undertale and Deltarune alike.
Our next candidate in Undertale will be Sans. Although Sans doesn't constantly seem to fit the description of cheshire smile, he is actually one of those that fits the BEST, both based on Cheshire Cat standarts and Chara standarts. He appears and disappears at will, has an unforgettable smile, is a literal judge, is silly and lazy (like a cat) but also, the Sans fight is the most memorable consequence of doing the No Mercy run. Sans' true smile, different from his smile in the textbox, only appears in the ending of a run most of the time, be it in the True Pacifist ending, or the No Mercy ending, we will be faced with that smile, possibly for dozens of times over. I don't count Papyrus, because Papyrus' smile is always innocent, happy, cheerful, confident. Sans' smile never shows emotion, he's a pokerface. Yes, I know, he appears shocked when we hit him but come on. This doesn't disprove it. Sans is peculiar also in the sense that he is very much depressed. Be it through the HP is Hope theory, or just by Undertale lore standarts, it's obvious Sans is depressed and his smile isn't there for himself. Which WOULD qualify him as a fake smiler if the whole rest of the explanation didn't matter, and if the Sans lore wasn't as complicated as it is. It's obvious something happened to make Sans stay like this, he's not just keeping it up for the image. We've yet to discover why, though.
The last member of this list will be MysteryMan/Gaster. I know he's relevant in both games, but his first real appearance is in Undertale plus his lore is in Undertale, so I'll put him there. Gaster is similar to Sans in his cheshire traits, in the sense that he is incredibly mysterious, basically can disappear at will, and his smile seems frozen on his face. A trait also similar to Cheshire Cat is that he doesn't seem real despite being in front of us. However, Gaster has no relevant appearance in the game for us, why would his smile be cheshire if there's none of our consequences? Well that's it, the consequences aren't OURS. They're HIS. His smile is frozen like this, frozen through time and space, because his ambition caused him to fall into his own creation. He was his own downfall, and as a consequence, he is stuck like this. Once again, a smile caused in consequences.
Notes
One could argue OMEGA Flowey's smile is a cheshire one, given the entire embodiment of consequence that he is. However, that's the only trait he has, a consequence that's not even caused. It's a decision he takes, the only consequence is that he looks like that after taking the souls, nothing more. OMEGA Flowey, much like Flowey, has a smile stuck in the Evil Smiles cathegory.
Mad Dummy and Mad MewMew don't count here, as their smiles are either malicious or, in No Mercy, genuine happiness. While the latter comes from a consequence, it isn't nearly relevant enough to be cheshire, and has no implication aside from "I finally became myself".
Deltarune's Cheshire smiles
With the Undertale part out of the way, time for the big bit of this theory : Deltarune. And oh boy do I have a lot to talk to. Bear in mind, Chara's smile is the standart Cheshire smile portrayed by Toby Fox.
Our first contestant here will be Kris. Kris? But they never smile!. . . They do, once to our knowledge. In the Chapter 1 ending, Kris flashes a menacing, yet.. Familiar smile to us. I believe this smile is the consequence of us, the soul, possessing them and making them do all of this, and their smile here as well as their actions is their way to fight back. It's to send a message to us, that consequences are coming. This smile is VERY reminiscent of Chara's own smile, which shows up at the end of the run and reminds us that our actions WILL have consequences. This is exactly Kris' message here, I believe. Small note here, this will be the one smile that barely doesn't fall out of cheshire. It's WAY on the fronteer, but given how relevant Kris' smile is in this scene, it barely makes it in.
Next up is Jevil, our good ole' jester of the deck himself. Jevil is probably the character that smiles the most in Deltarune, as he never gives it up. Even the Devilsknife is smiling, to quote him, and he IS the Devilsknife. Jevil has the silliness, and the ability to disappear to reappear, while also having the dangerousness and most of all - being optional. The consequences here, again and much like with Gaster, don't come from us. Seam (a smiling cat..how peculiar and conveinient.), Jevil's friend, gives us insight and story on Jevil. Evidently, Jevil found himself behind bars due to his false belief of being free to do anything, and going rogue because of it. Jevil broke, and his insanity lead him to where he is today as a consequence. Jevil is stuck smiling in his little freedom in the end.
We've been to one end of the freedom scale, let's go to the other end : Spamton G. Spamton. This guy has probably the biggest amount of consequence events in the entire Deltarune yet. He was a salesman, got a phonecall and as consequence his smile was everywhere, the phonecalls left so he fell to the dumpster and now he's just a smiler puppet craving ..something. The biggest reason I bring him to the table is because HE IS LITERALLY A COPY PASTE OF CHARA IN THE SNOWGRAVE RUN. He gives us the weapon of the kill, tells us how many left, and he is the overpowering force you meet at the very end of Chapter 2's dark world if you do Snowgrave. In parallel he calls out every single action you've taken. He literally does Chara's job in Deltarune Chapter 2's weird route, in which he becomes the embodiment of the consequences of our actions. In the normal route, as himself, he's a broken man trying to escape the situation his own consequences put him in. Spamton NEO is his own worst invention, an award losing smile to lose it all. Another thing that shows the cheshire in Spamton would be the way he seems to be everywhere. Check any dumpster, it'll have a pillow inside. Spamton lives everywhere. Even the LoadedDisk item smiles in your hand, like Devilsknife with Jevil.
Finally, the TV at the end of Chapter 2. I think it's going to be a prelude to a cheshire smile, it has the design for it already and with all the smiles we've encountered so far, this feels very much like Kris' smile. A prelude to danger, a message. We know one thing for sure : it's here because of a bad consequence. Kris opened a dark fountain, despite Ralsei's warnings. As a result, this smile comes into play to tell us things are about to go south. I think this preludes a Cheshire smile for the character this is supposed to foreshadow, especially considering their entire smile will be a reminder of Kris' actions in opening that fountain to begin with. If it's Mike's smile? We'll probably see it everywhere.
Notes
One thing I didn't mention is something I said at the very beggining. The cheshire cat's smile is prelude to danger and a bad message, which Jevil, Spamton NEO and the TV's smile all represent.
Similar to previous examples, Ralsei, Susie and Lancer are no cheshire. They're not a consequence, and Ralsei's smiles are of utter kindness, Susie's are usually positively mischievous or just genuine, and Lancer. . .is Lancer.
Important to note here that Mike essentially humiliated Spamton, which feeds even more in my theory of Mike's smile being cheshire-esque.
There you have it. My entire theory on the hidden types of smile through both games. I believe this will probably amount to something in the end of Deltarune if my theory prooves true, and if it does, then the ending of Deltarune might really change as a consequence of finding all of those secret bosses. But that's a theory for later.
Thanks for reading, I'd love your input in this and PLEASE take care of yourself, 'cause someone really cares about you :)
ok so, if Noelle's Dad’s name is Rudy, short for Rudolph. Does this mean she has uncles and cousins named after the other reindeer that pull Santa's sleigh?
Uncle Dasher, cousin Vixen?
..is Rudy like, estranged because he was born with a red nose?... no i think that’d be messed up.
for comparison
My real Deltarune theory is that Hometown is a dark world based on this carpet
So here’s a couple of my Deltarune predictions (pic related), will reblog way in the future to see wich ones hit and wich ones miss!
-Ok maybe not something EXACTLY like the pic, but there’s a chance Sans’ brother in Deltarune is not Papyrus but a different character.
-Wether or not that’s the case, this will play a bigger role in a future chapter.
-A future chapter’s dark world will take place inside Asgore’s flower shop, particularly through the closed double doors in the room with the soul-colored flowers.
-Undyne will show up in Chapter 3 and potentialy lose an eye, ending up in the hospital afterwards.
-Each chapter’s antagonist will be themed around a chess piece (we got King and Queen already), Except for chapter 7, wich will be something different.
-All the secret bosses (or similar) will have some kind of connection to Gaster, or be implied to have interacted with him.
-It is revealed or heavily implied that multiple entities (including us) are posessing Kris.
-We will continue to make others do the dirty work in the Weird Route, this will cause clear repercusions in the light world.
-Also in the weird route, Susie will start suspecting that Something Weird is up with Kris.
-If so and she discovers what’s happening, she will confront Kris about it not knowing it’s not their own doing.
-Ralsei will get progressively more defensive/assertive about the prophecy.
-Nobody will know it was Kris who opened the fountain at the end of Chapter 2, but Ralsei will have his suspicions.
-Kris and Susie will stay in their dark world rooms Ralsei made for a night.
-Ralsei will not show up in Chapter 3 and Toriel will replace him for it.
-Pizzapants still hates his job.
I fuckin adore these theories but two brief things
1. Just because we never see monsters use magic doesn’t necessarily mean they’re *unable* to - it could be that they simply choose not to, in my opinion likely in relation to their respect and worship of the Angel, as the town seems to be very religious and perhaps magic is seen as blasphemy. (Yes I’m inserting my ‘Kris has religious trauma’ theory into this, fuck off /lh)
2. Whether or not Spamton has a soul, the allegories to Flowey ARE there - Flowey being a result of one royal scientist’s actions and Spamton being another. What’s interesting though is that Spamton wasn’t JUST an object before he was granted knowledge of the nature of his world; he was an Addison - a being whose entire existence was meant to be chasing the Lightener’s attention. This has some interesting parallels to Flowey’s existence also chasing Frisk’s attention, however for the sake of committing a lotta murder instead of buying from a crappy infomercial.
Overall, absolutely love this a ton!!
Some Deltarune connections to Undertale
Aight so since I literally can’t stop talking about this game, it’s time to talk about DETERMINATION and its importance in Deltarune and Undertale. Undertale’s focus on determination is very clear. It’s present throughout the game in every save point, and it’s an important plot point as well since it is a power only human souls possess. It’s something that monsters lack and that Asgore entrusted Alphys (as well as Gaster before her) to research and study. Gaster probably built the DT Extraction machine and Alphys used it for her research. In Deltarune, however, determination is largely absent. The save points speak of some vague power that the Dark World emits, but the only main reference to it comes from Queen.
In Undertale, no monster naturally possesses determination, or at the very least no monster has a large amount of it. Undyne is the only one confirmed to have a large amount, and eventually her body melted just like Alphys’s experiments. In Deltarune, however, we now know that every Lightner, including both monsters and humans, has determination. It’s not something unique to humans in this universe. Also of note, monsters in Deltarune don’t seem to be able to use magic at all. There’s no mention of it and no visible magic usage anywhere in Hometown, yet most of the monsters we see living there are magic users in Undertale. I don’t really have a theory on this, apart from my idea that the Light World and Dark World are both results of Gaster’s experiments with Dark Fountains and his desire to literally create a new world, one where monsters are on top and don’t NEED to use magic. Anyways, onto the next part, where I will talk about everybody’s [number1ratedsalesman1997]… Spamton G. Spamton. Ok so, from the Spamton NEO boss fight and just talking to him in general, it’s clear that Spamton’s goal is to obtain a SOUL so he can escape the Dark World, possibly so he can see the Light World, but maybe more broadly he just wants to escape from the game itself, into “heaven” or OUR world. The world that we, the player, exist in. I’ve noticed a lot of similarities between Spamton and Flowey. First off they’re both two soulless characters. A line from one of the entries in True Lab made me think about this connection.
Spamton is without a SOUL. and he gained the will to live. Unlike Flowey though, neither Spamton nor Jevil nor anyone else in the Dark World have the ability to SAVE or RESET their worlds. Both Jevil and Spamton do know that they’re living in a game, so they have a similar amount of general awareness as characters like Sans and Flowey, and probably Gaster as well. Gaster is definitely the catalyst in all of this, the one pulling the strings. He gave Jevil and Spamton the knowledge that they’re living in a game. Finally, let’s talk about the Gaster followers. In Undertale they give the only dialogue that tells us anything about Gaster’s life and creations. Gaster follower 3 says this “One day, his experiments went wrong, and…Well, I needn’t gossip. After all, it’s rude to talk about someone who’s listening.” Their accounts of Gaster’s death vary somewhat but it’s safe to say something he was working on killed him. The Gaster followers very much resemble the vessel you create at the start of Deltarune. I don’t know if this is a coincidence but there may be some connection between Gaster’s followers and the vessel that’s discarded in Deltarune. It would make sense considering Gaster is literally the one talking to the player at the start. They both have the same general color scheme. Perhaps there’s a connection, perhaps not. If I find more interesting connections I’ll make a part 2 to this :)
deltarune chapter 3 rolls out and mike was the kitchen microwave all along his name is Mike Rowave and he can turn darkners into fucking plasma
ever since Don't Forget first showed up I IMMEDIATELY thought of Gaster, and to this day there's nothing that makes me think it isn't about him in one way or another.
maybe it's not necessarily talking ABOUT gaster, but I always believed it is directly tied to his creation. Not the CORE from undertale, but the DARK WORLDS from deltarune.
also, who the &*#% are the people Frisk doesn't recognize in sans's attic, exactly? It doesn't specify a number, too, just says it's a lot of them.
do u ever wonder if part of the reason sans doesn’t like making promises is because he watched gaster make a promise and then proceed to tear himself to literal pieces over it
