The Children

So let's talk about the kids, where do I start?

I'll do it top-down, so let's start with the first one:

1.       Dishi or as I like to call him “the first”: Is 13 years old. He is the most responsible, marking a great contrast with MK, he is reserved and almost the voice of reason among his brothers. He's closer than anyone to receiving the top student award, but he's a bad cook. And although he lives with a very loving family, he has a problem accepting physical affection. He doesn't know why.

He seems to be the most aware of how difficult it is for MK to support them all while he's working and fighting. So he always finds a way to help when he's not home, which MK appreciates.

As a child, he once had the idea that he could be the successor to MK, but that idea vanished when he discovered that he could not hold the staff.

2.       DingBang, self-nicknamed “DB”, or as I call him “the second”: Is 12 years old. He is a total gamer, almost an influencer if it weren't for the fact that they almost always have to confiscate his cell phone. He is a cunning boy who likes to play with the possibilities and see where they take him, even though they don't end well for the most part. He regularly messages Mei keeping her up to date on what's going on with the family, though more are sending each other memes.

Like the eldest, he can't lift the staff either, but he doesn't give a damn about this except when MK uses it to block the cabinet where he keeps his video games.

3.       Hao or “the third”: Is 10 years old. He is a sweet and cuddly child on the inside, but on the outside, he is portrayed as a creepy child. He often comes out of the shadows startling everyone, speaks when no one expects him to, and occasionally plays some weird games. Of all his brothers, he is the one who, somehow, ends up more exposed to danger and has been kidnapped by demons more than once.

He finds everything to do with magic and the supernatural interesting and has come to learn how to make runes and some spells from his unsuspecting babysitter (Red Son).

Apart from all that, he is a very calm boy, of few words, who loves his family very much, although sometimes they do not understand him.

4.       Mao or, you know, "the fourth": Is 8 years old. He is a very insecure and clingy boy. As a child, he was very pampered, and now that he has grown up he feels that sometimes he is not given enough attention. He clings to MK in every way he can think of, like a piece of gum, if he finds it, it sticks to him. This has caused him to develop a bad habit of "stealing".

At first, he only did it for attention, but over time it became almost natural to steal something from a room. Several times he had to be reprimanded by MK, but they rarely got anywhere. Not that he had a good example.

The relationship with his older brothers is slightly awkward, this is because he was more favored than them when he was little, so he always looks for a way to include himself in what any of them are doing. Although if he is honest, he prefers to spend his time with BaoBao, his younger sister, since he considers that being the minors they have to be united.

5.       BaoBao, the golden girl, or as I call her "the fifth": She is 5 years old. She is a ray of sunshine, a girl full of energy and childhood dreams. Her favorite animal is the gorilla, she likes bean cake and her best friend is her stuffed monkey whom she called “Dóu” (according to the translator that is “little bean” in Chinese). She will cry when someone breaks a promise with her and she will become infatuated with always being right. She is the one that needs supervision the most because she doesn't know much about the world and often gets lost.

Also being MK's last baby, when the mother abandoned them, she had to be closely cared for by him. So for a time, she was present in some of her fights against the demons while being carried in a baby sling.

She barely remembers any of it, but there are photos and videos to prove it.

And this is all I have on them, for now.

Someday I'll draw a suitable drawing for them, I promise.

Here some MK interactions with his children or their “little monkeys” XP

I wanted to show a little how its dynamics were. Although I would like to write it to show its interaction in more detail, I chose to draw it until I put my ideas in order.

They're too messy.

It took me forever to finish this due to the work I have to do every week, so you will excuse me for varying so much between the first and the last drawing. The Lego style escapes me.

But I will improve.

For the moment, I say goodbye and leave you a Monkey King getting very excited with a tired MK (OwO)/

Hello people! Here reliving again XD

I bring you another headcanon for the MK Dad AU, this time focusing on the eldest of the children, Dishi, and his longing for a greater destiny.

When Dishi was 5 years old he thought he could lift the cane.

His logic was simple.

If his dad could, why couldn't he?

I'm his son. I can do it!

He had spent some time considering the fantasy of being his heir, he saw it as something that could happen, the legendary hero passing the responsibility to his eldest son. The beginning of a new generation.

It wasn't that simple.

His dad hadn't even hinted at it, but Dishi thought it was only a matter of time, that maybe when he was old enough he would finally choose him.

They would train together.

They would walk the path their father walked.

And he would eventually become a hero.

Same as dad.

Never happened.

Because he could never lift the staff.

The bitter truth haunted him for much of his childhood, but when he was a teenager he decided to close his eyes and pretend it never happened.

He wasn't magical, he didn't know how to fight, but he was very smart.

He could still help.

It could still be useful.

He only had that.

That's all.

But sometimes he looked at the staff and thought… ¿What if…?

If I could…

Then he shook his head and forgot about it.

Without having tried again to raise the staff.

This was not scheduled XD But I wanted to draw something, so here are some cute MK interactions with the kids and a Wukong feeling a bit left out. Here is some context:

Dishi, at the sweet age of 5, wanted to be the same as MK and imitated him in almost everything, even the way he tied up his hair. Fun times until the kid decided to jump off the roof to see if he could fly... I'll just say he broke a few bones that day. Luckily, he is fine now.

DingBang grew up with a taste for jackets that began when, at the age of 4, MK wrapped him in his Monkey King jacket. He spent all day wearing the garment until he fell asleep, taking care not to soil it or step on it with his feet. MK got a nice photo of that moment, as you can see.

Hao is usually not as attached to MK as his other siblings, at least not like his younger brother Mao, but there are times when he shyly asks for some attention, and MK, like a loving father, gives it to him. Although it is sometimes difficult for MK to spread the same amount of attention among his five children, he does his best not to leave anyone out.

Mao didn't have an interaction with MK in this drawing, and maybe that's why his patience with Wukong isn't too much, sorry. He's usually not that bad, but when he feels left out or ignored, his mood becomes irritable, and sometimes his temper clashes with the first person he meets, and unfortunately, most of the time that person is Wukong. Ha ha ha...

BaoBao usually has her hair tied up most of the time in two buns, but when it's time to sleep, the curly mane on her head is released. So we could say that her beautiful hair was inherited from MK, although his is somewhat more curly.

I decided to be messy with this because otherwise, MK Dad AU posts will be sooo slow XP

Do mk’s kids meets nezha, peng, yellowtusk, PIF, DBK and ao guang?

I'll go in order (ouo)

1) The children had the opportunity to meet Red Son's parents thanks to their constant "visits", which mostly meant that Red Son would be watching over them. So from a very early age, they were able to meet and interact with both Princess Iron Fan and DBK during those periods.

Of course... they did one or another prank, but that is another story.

2) As for Nezha, only the older brother (Dishi) had the opportunity to meet him when MK took him to one of his trainings with the deity. He became his little fan.

But the rest of their siblings never really got to know them, although Nezha knows of their existence very well. That's because MK didn't miss the opportunity to show him photos and photos of them when he asked if Dishi was his only child.

Although maybe one day they will get to know each other. Who knows.

3) As for Peng and Yellowtusk... I'd say yes, but as you can imagine, maybe not in the best conditions.

4) Ao Guang, I don't think they ever met him. Because they did not exist during the events of season 3, and also because... What situation would lead them to meet him?

They live in the depths of the sea, and some of them do not know how to swim.

Although maybe Mei could give them that chance, but I doubt it XP

Would dishi experience burnouts or procrastination?

Procrastination, no. Burnout, yes.

The oldest has to be forced to rest when his strength as a 13-year-old boy finally abandons him. MK and his brothers have to practically set a trap for him to put him to sleep; usually, this is not easy since Dishi is very stubborn and refuses to rest with the excuse that without him, the house would be upside down.

One thing that is partially true and has MK somewhat embarrassed.

So sometimes someone has to stand guard at the bedside to make sure the child at least gets some sleep.

The one who does procrastinate while procrastinating is DingBang (the second one). You don't have to worry about him running out of that one.

could dishi experience gifted kid syndrome?

A little bit yes... according to my colleague, @melancholialapelada7, but according to me, it only presents some aspects.

Like anxiety, changes in sleeping and eating habits, etc., but I don't think so about disinterest in the family.

Dishi doesn't like them hugging him, but he still loves them XD

Does dishi grew having a best friend?

I would say yes.

His best friend is his brother DingBang, the second, since they are only a few months apart, so they practically grew up together to be friends.

Although, like typical brothers, sometimes they disagree, at the end of the day, they will always support each other (UuU)

Is Dishi the type of person who calls out people when they curse?

You've described it almost perfectly, except that Dishi usually covers his ears like a good child while giving him a look of reproach or complete disappointment, depending on the person who is throwing the insult.

Normally, it says “Hey”, “Language” or “We're still here”.

The latter is usually said if he is with his younger siblings; this child is trying by all means to be a good older brother model, although sometimes his siblings do not notice or appreciate this as much XP

Does anyone ever bring up the fact that Dishi and MK have the same face?

I think they all have the same face; they are legos XD

But on a serious note, yes, when Dishi was younger, he looked a lot like MK when he was a kid.

I'm sorry to say that for now, MK Dad AU is on hiatus (U.U)

And it's not because I lack ideas, but because, at the moment, I don't have much interest, and I don't know when I'll get back to it. But I can share with you some sketches I made before I became obsessed with COTL.

Because yeah, I'm a little into that right now hehe...

But anyway, here are some of the sketches I made based on some little ideas I had at the time:

A little interaction with the main MK clones, although I didn't get around to drawing all of them.

I was still figuring out how to draw Lego style. I think that's part of the reason I left it unfinished because by then I had already changed the way I drew them.

The children. This was a letter of introduction.

They are ordered from oldest to youngest: Dishi, 13 years old, DingBang, 12 years old, Hao, 10 years old, Mao, 8 years old, and BaoBao, 5 years old.

This one just needed a proper background and some corrections to the text, and it would be done.

And that's without getting to scribble down all the ideas I had for this AU, but well, only time will tell if I'll come back to it...
