DmC 2 designs for the main 3

i've made so many of these designs lol but i really love this game and i need a way to fill the empty space in my soul that the lack of a sequel has left 😭

Dante- I gave him a red jacket but made it cropped to better differentiate him from og dante and to give him a different silhouette. I wanted his outfit to look more diy and gritty, fitting in with the state of Limbo city at this point.

Kat- I wanted to keep the basic vibe of her original design so i kept a hood and put a vine motif going up the sleeves to mimic her henna in-game. I gave her longer, baggier pants with pockets to hold ingredients for spells.

Vergil- His outfit hasn't changed much because he's been in Hell for the time being. His jacket looks more tattered and worn and he himself looks sickly given the wound to his heart. I gave him more practical boots and referenced this unused DMC5 vergil concept.

genuinely i love the idea of a 'write this in your style' challenge and the idea has not left me since @skullgirrl mentioned it, how many DmC/DMC fans would be like into that?

wait wait wait no I'm not done yet I need to say more about Kat's magic bc its such an underrated and underutilized ability.

here are some interesting abilities I believe Kat could have (I may add to it as I think of things bc it is very late rn and tired hyperfixation brain took over.)

She could learn sigils to repel demons. This could obviously come in handy but also oops! Dante barged into her room one too many times forgetting to knock and now she put a sigil up so that he can't even touch the door when it's closed.

SHE COULD MAKE PACTS WITH DANTE and/or VERGIL! this could be useful in battle or just be a sign of trust and protection.

The ability to call upon demons and angels and summon them. this could come in handy on missions with trying to track down certain demons OR going off my last point, it could come in handy with the twins themselves. (imagine Dante's on a mission halfway across the city and all of a sudden he's like 🧍‍♂️"something just happened. I think Kat needs me." he left the toilet seat up.)

Okay hear me out: Probably cliche af but Sparda as a head of the mafia (or yakuza. Whichever works better~) and Dante and Vergil as his trained assassin sons. I COULD WORK WITH THIS. PROBABLY.

Dante and Vergil entered the meeting hall and stood at the other end of the long table. Vergil was the first to speak. "Father. You called for us?"

"Yes, I did. Come to me."

The twins nodded, going over to stand at their father's side. He placed his hands on their heads. "My boys. You are both 18. Vergil, you have become a fine businessman. Efficient. Savvy. Always working in the best interests of the family. Dante, you have become the ultimate enforcer. Lethal. Ruthless. Your mother and I would trust you with our lives. I have something for the both of you."

Sparda led his sons into a vast trophy room. On the far end, there were two swords on display, a longsword and a katana. The twins watched with big eyes as their father took the swords from their display stands. "I had both of these forged especially for you in hopes that you would earn them someday. I believe that day has come." He handed the katana to Vergil. "Its name is Yamato. It is a graceful weapon and can be disguised, perfect for a businessman's hand." He handed the longsword to Dante. "Its name is Rebellion. Powerful. A killer's blade. It gets stronger whenever it takes a life. They are my gifts to you, my sons. Guard them well."

"We will, dad!" Dante held Rebellion tightly. "Thank you!"

"Yes father, thank you." Vergil pulled the sword from its sheath far enough to see his reflection in the blade. "They will be used the way you intended."

"I know that they will." Sparda led his sons out of the room and closed the door behind him. "With your help, our family will have absolute power."

A Series of Mild Prophecies

“The Orders a secure compound, you can’t just call people,” Kat says, hands in her lap atop the blankets. She’s not getting out of the bed unless she has to. Dante looks to her, not buying it.  “I’ve seen people use their phones here all day,” Dante says and Vergil crosses his arms.  “They’re secure,” Vergil replies. “They’re made secure and safe for use in the building, connected to our networks and protected from outside spyware and worse.”  “Ok, so let me borrow a phone. I want to borrow a phone anyway,” Dante says.   “How are w-” Kat starts, ready to go into a whole rant about not trusting Dante, about how their location can’t get out to anyone on the outside, how this is all vital and they don’t know him or the girl he wants to call, but she stops herself with a yawn.  “We...can’t just let you call some girl,” Vergil says and Kat’s grateful that he picks up so easily from where her thoughts left off. “She hasn’t been screened, we don’t know anything about her, should anything get out she could compromise our entire mission.” Dante’s expression twists and for a brief, brief moment. Almost like how Vergil’s twists when he’s mad and trying to hold it in. It jolts Kat awake, that brief moment of sameness between them, though Vergil is none the wiser. He doesn’t know his own face like she does. Nothing about his twin is eerie in that way to him.

Summery: It's Dante's first night at the Order and he wants to tie up some loose ends. Kat and Vergil have some reservations about the idea, and Dante in general.

The scans aren’t as good as I thought they will be…but still readable :)

Been replaying DmC for the few free time i have, together with remake 4 and this wacky wahoo aristocratic foie gras The Council (play this..just for the heck of it)

And...I maybe missing something but It's just a thought. But Vergil implanted to us, the audience, and to Dante this Chosen One Narrative... Which is completely subverted by Dante himself, but also if we really look at the Nephilim themselves.

"The only ones that can stop a demon king are Nephilim." "Half angel, half demon, we are Nephilim."

The thing is, they're just powerful enough to thwart at least one too powerful active demon royal.

ANY NEPHILIM must've done that already in the past. Hence their massacre (apologies for the word but.... that's what happened & both Dante and Vergil have everything hinging on them, their the last 2 !!)

What I'm saying is, it's just convenient that it's just the two of them left.

I don't think Sparda and Eva even meant that they're anything special or the "Chosen Ones".

The way Eva explained why she and Sparda became together because at least, despite the forbidden laws, they freely chose to do so!

And that's the ongoing theme of DmC anyway: freedom through rebellion. Eva and Sparda's love and their want to meet their children, who are forbidden to exist because their higher-ups said so (because, yes, these kids are literally growing to become even more powerful than the forces of both heaven and hell [[and this is the best assumption of WHY they don't want the Nephilim existing, they don't want the power balance tipping over to a new 3rd party, and this is seen as a big problem because both angels and demons are having a war...what the war is even about, that i personally don't know... probably a moral debate that went extremely wrong, where now they want to apply their "morals" against one another, who knows...]]

... anyway their act of love and family, simply wanting their children, who are also a new race, to exist, is an act of rebellion. And they essentially want the new race of Nephilim to be free...

... which brings me to Vergil.

Because for some reason, he actually stands a bit antithetical to both his parents' stance. This became more evident in his dlc's ending.

It's no secret that Vergil actually sees the Nephilim as a race much more worthy than their predecessors, the angels and demons. And therefore, he makes a self-proclamation as a new ruler for being something more special.

Two things:

1. Someone special CAN lead. Someone who has leadership qualities can definitely lead. But not because of one's special circumstances suddenly and automatically equates that they should lead.

2. .... What the hell Vergil??!!? I think this is an ongoing issue among reboot fans anyway: what was it that made Vergil have this ideology?

With already the presumption that Ninja Theory was unable to shed anymore light to Vergil because a.) They're already not wanted by a hardcore audience, and Capcom was already seeing the temperature....so they had to pack their bags and leave.. and b.) The way they structured DmC was basically awaiting for a sequel (which will never happen). And it seems with the dlc being Vergil, the sequel likely was going to transition more to who Vergil was, and who he had become... Which will never happen😔

The best I can interpret is that, since he had been adopted into a human family with a much more well-off social status, perhaps this is where Vergil saw the unethical and depraved side of humanity, the ones who can afford to get away with anything.

So if he had more power and control over humanity, he'd essentially be controlling the richest and most powerful humans, and maybe make them benevolent or..you know, make them do other concepts about responsibly handling their power and resources.

... anyway uhh I guess Vergil's idea of a Chosen One is being the best elected royal of the world ?😌?? 😅

open to conversations because honestly, the 3 games I'm playing actually have similar themes about how to handle power so ehh
