Don Rosa - Tumblr Posts
Finally finished this ! A personal project of mine . The Gearloose family tree !
Featuring characters made by Barks (Gyro & Lil Helper), Rosa (Fulton), Gervasio (Copernicus, Cartesius, etc), Mastantuono (Mad Ducktor) and others .
This was mostly based on the trees made by Marco Gervasio and Gilles Maurice .
As you can see, I made a lot of liberties on their designs .
Other characters that you might not know include :
•Prof. Pardalto - Gyro's maternal grandfather originating from the totally contradictory "History of Duckburg" series .
•Sonia Pardalto - Gyro's aunt, originating from Brazil .
•Uncle Euclid - Gyro's uncle, a bungling inventor according to INDUCKS . First appearance is on a Strobl story .
•Dana Data - Gyro's girlfriend, first appearance is on a story written by Janet Gilbert . Appeared on 2 stories, the other by Lars Jensen .
•Gadget Gearloose - Ratchet's twin, appeared in "The McDuck Journals" by Kari Korhonen in 2019 . Described as slightly odd, feels better to make him Euclid's father . I knew him in a scanlation which I forgot where I read it from (though I took a screenshot of it for reference) .
Note : I didn't include the other characters here since I don't know them to begin with and that they don't have a INDUCKS page or don't appear in any wikis .
Hope you like it ! 😁😁😁😁😁
It's June 9 ? That means it's Donald's birthday ? Heck yeah! On Pride month ? I don't see why not. 😁
🎉🎉HAPPY BIRTHDAY DONALD DUCK 🎉🎉 and Happy Pride ! 🌈

I'm still here! Sharing here another two sets of portraits 😁
Some of you might be already familiar with this characters but for those who aren't, keep reading.
For the 3rd set, we have:
1.) Hortense McDuck - the mother of Donald and Della.
2.) Quackmore Duck - the father of Donald and Della.
3.) Fanny Coot - the mother of Gus Goose.
4.) Luke Goose - the father of Gus Goose.
5.) Elvira Coot - Donald's grandmother.
6.) Humperdink Duck - Donald's grandfather.
7.) Cuthbert Coot - Donald's cousin, the son of Casey Coot and Gretchen Grebe.
8.) Gus Goose - Donald's second cousin.
— Cuthbert Coot is a creation of Carl Barks. Gus Goose first appeared in a 1939 animated short, "Donald's Cousin Gus" in which Barks is one of it's writers. Hortense McDuck, Quackmore Duck, Fanny Coot, Luke Goose and Humperdink Duck are created by Don Rosa based on earlier works (such as Mark Worden's family tree). Elvira Coot was created by Al Taliaferro and Bob Karp as Grandma Duck with Don Rosa later establishing her real name.
For the 4th set, which is just a redo of half of the portraits of my Gearloose family tree, we have:
1.) Martha Bird - the wife of Ratchet Gearloose.
2.) Anastasia Anatryn - the wife of Copernicus Gearloose.
3.) Gyro Gearloose - a well-known inventor of Duckburg, a friend to Donald and Scrooge.
4.) Fulton Gearloose - Gyro's father.
5.) Galileo Gearloose - Gyro's cousin, descendant of Cartesius Gearloose.
6.) Newton Gearloose - Gyro's nephew.
7.) Copernicus Gearloose - Gyro's great-grandfather, an accomplice of John Quackett/Fantomius.
8.) Cartesius Gearloose - Gyro's great-granduncle, the evil twin of Copernicus.
— Gyro Gearloose is a creation of Carl Barks while his father, Fulton, is of Don Rosa's. Martha Bird, Anastasia Anatryn, Galileo Gearloose, Copernicus Gearloose and Cartesius Gearloose are all created by Marco Gervasio. Newton Gearloose is a creation of Vic Lockman.
Note : Some of the portraits here were previously used in my other tree though if look closely, they're different. It is because I've changed it a bit. There's a chance that I might do it again which means that the portraits here are not the final version.
Now back with the 7th and 8th sets! 😁😁
This could be last featuring well-known Rosa and Barks characters so expect some potraits in future to be of obscure(kind of) characters. Again, if you're not familiar with some characters, keep reading 😊
For the 7th set, which just includes Scrooge's ancestors, we have:
1.) Sir Roast McDuck(1159-1205) - succeeded his father, Stuft McDuck, as clan chief, at which point Clan McDuck was one of the richest clans in Scotland, though that didn't last long.
2.) Hugh "Seafoam" McDuck(1710-1776) - was a McDuck ancestor who settled in Glasgow in 1727. Hugh turned to the sea for a living and became a successful merchant, though that didn't last long too.
3.) Sir Swamphole McDuck(1190-1260) - succeeded his father Roast McDuck as clan chief and inherited the clan's financial problems. Believed to have sealed the castle dungeons due to that.
4.) Sir Stuft McDuck(1110-1175) - was a successful chief of Clan McDuck who oversaw a period of prosperity.
5.) Sir Eider McDuck(880-946) - was the chief of Clan McDuck during an Anglo-Saxon invasion in 946.
6.) Malcolm "Matey" McDuck(1530-1564?) - was a McDuck ancestor who settled in England and is suggested to be a previous incarnation of Scrooge McDuck.
7.) Sir Quackly McDuck(1010-1057) - was clan chief when King Macbeth was killed in 1057. Quackly's ghost was an important figure in Scrooge's life.
8.) Sir Simon McDuck(1437-1509) - was the treasurer of the Knights Templar and hid their treasure beneath McDuck Castle.
— Sir Simon McDuck is a creation of Don Rosa and is featured in his story, "A Letter From Home"(2004). All others were created by Carl Barks, though some of them didn't made any physical appearances till Don Rosa.
For the 6th set, we have:
1.)-3.) Huey, Dewey, Louie - Donald's nephews, Della's triplets.
4.) Cornelius Coot - Elvira's grandfather, the founder of Duckburg.
5.)-7.) April, May, June - Daisy's nieces.
8.) Pintail Duck - Donald's ancestor, a companion of Malcolm McDuck.
— Huey, Dewey, Louie are characters made by Ted Osborne and Al Taliaferro while others are originally made by Carl Barks.
Note : Some of the portraits here were previously used in my other tree though if you look closely, there's some differences. It is because I've changed it a bit. There's a chance that I might do it again which means that the portraits here are not the final version.

the 11th set ! 😀
I'm back ! My god it's been so long, I blame college. Good thing I have something to show to make up for it. This time, it's more on the McDuck ancestors with some others. 😊
As usual, if you are unfamiliar with any of the faces, just keep reading 👌.
For this set, we have :
1.) Sir Slye McDuck(1st-2nd century) - ancestor of Scrooge McDuck. A sneaky medieval member of the Clan McDuck, Sir Slye MacDuich assisted King Malcolm II in 1018 in his conquest of the Angles as a spy.
2.) Sir Murdoch McDuck(11th century) - ancestor of Scrooge McDuck. For unclear reasons, Sir Murdoch held the local patent on longbows at the time. Thus, in 1066, when England was invaded by the Normans, the English Army signed a contract with Sir Murdoch McDuck so he could supply them with longbows not knowing that the arrows cost extra.
3.) Don De Pato(16th century) - an ancestor of Scrooge. McDuck. His Spanish ancestor who was in command of a treasure galleon covered in gold foil which he called "La Dorada". Later, he left the Spanish Armada in 1588. He was featured in "The Golden Galleon" illustrated by Tony Strobl.
4.) Frederico Von Pato - an uncle of Ludwig Von Drake. First featured in the totally contradictory "History of Duckburg" series. A friend to Gyro's grandfather Prof. Pardalto. Appeared in two stories with both being illustrated by Brazilian artist, Irineu Soares Rodrigues. He was given the unofficial English name "Friedrich Von Drake" by Gilles Maurice.
5.) Locksley Mcduck(18th century) - an ancestor of Scrooge. In around the 1700's, Locksley McDuck, decided to join rebelling outlaw Rob Roy to battle evil landlords such as Rob Roy. The partnership was, however, short-lived, for once they had robbed the rich, Locksley refused to conform to the proper Robin Hood tradition and give to the poor. His design here is based on an unknown ancestral ghost of Scrooge McDuck featured in Don Rosa's "The New Laird of Castle McDuck".
6.) Sir Donald Mcduck(15th century) - an ancestor of Scrooge. He was nicknamed "Black Donald" due to his foul temper. In 1440, Sir Donald invented golf, a sport that quickly caught on among the Scottish nobles. However, due to his temper which resulted in violent tantrums, King James II outlawed the sport in 1457.
7.) Upsy Duck - an uncle of Donald Duck. The peak of his career was becoming the first man to climb to the top of Mount Stratoshaft, in Switzerland. Unfortunately, while he was standing on top of the mountain, the wind caught his hat and carried it to the top of a small ice hill called the "Matterthorn" down in the valley. Upsy, due to the ice's slipperiness, was unable to climb to the top of the Matterthorn to retrieve his headwear, and he was disgraced. He was featured in a 1965 story "Mastering the Matterthorn" illustrated by Tony Strobl.
8.) Swashbuckle Duck - a great-uncle of Donald Duck. A big-game hunter, whose personality was transferred to Scrooge via a portrait as shown in the story "Outer Space Safari", illustrated by Tony Strobl.
• Characters such as Sir Slye McDuck, Sir Murdoch McDuck, Locksley McDuck, and Sir Donald McDuck are all creations of Don Rosa and were featured in the sketch-only prologue "The History of the Clan McDuck".
• Don De Pato would later be introduced in the animated show "Legend of The Three Caballeros" using the German name, Don Dugo. Although there is a big difference. In the original comic, he was only related to Scrooge McDuck but in the animated show, that relation was not shown and instead, he was an ancestor to Donald Duck through to his great-grandfather Clinton Coot.
Note : The portraits here may be changed a bit anytime which means that the portraits here are not the final version. If there's anything wrong here, lemme know 😁
Huey, Dewey and Louie - Don Rosa style
I tried imagining what the new versions of HD&L would look like if they were drawn by Don Rosa. It’s rather ironic, since he’s not a fan of the show himself, but I really love his art style and I love the new Ducktales. So one thing takes to the other...
