CHNT Vampire!AU
This is a general info dump about the cast so far in my wip vampire au
This au is mainly focused on Sydney, Jedidiah, and Elijah but other characters will maybe get bite sized pieces of content later on
this is gonna be a long one so strap in kiddos!!
Jedidiah was able to discover how to keep Sydney alive using vampire dna(?) he denies the existence of vampires , says they r folklore or an exaggeration of certain conditions or symptoms, discourages Sydney’s belief/interest of/in them, Jedidiah in reality tho is unsure of his belief in vampires, as much as he denies them he feels there are some things even he cant turn a blind eye at but he would never admit it, he’s afraid to believe he may have cursed sydney, or made him into a monster, but he simply did a medical procedure, hopefully,
Elijah is a turned vampire, who’s new motif instead of an elephant is a spider, gets his “abilities” from his vampireism , striking eyes and teeth and strange aura, who worships Sydney for being able to achieve “immortality” without any of the draw backs if being a vampire and no blood lust, “he still has his humanity”, tho Elijah find him to be pure and holy, the thing he doesn’t know is Sydney isn’t entirely immortal and is not completely free from vampiric side affects
Lucille is Catholic and raised Jedediah the same way, she partially believes in vampires more than jeddie but doesn’t like to discuss it, more so in the evil, and demonic feeding and draining of energy and human life aspects and the idea of evil hiding in plain sight among regular people than the fantastical theatrical depictions in modern media with pointy ears, pale skin, and the ability to turn into a bat
Details on Sydney are yet to be revealed but for what I can say for now is he has quite the fixation on vampires, he likes to research their folklore, and collects small trinkets related to them, and tends to unintentionally info dump but is mostly received with annoyed and unamused faces, Sydney contrary to Elijahs beliefs does suffer of symptoms of vampirism, like rapid hair and nail growth, sensitivity to sun light & paleness, and a sensitivity to silver , tho most of these things are watered down to being small stuff like just being easily sunburned, not going outside enough, and just a small nothing to worry about allergy
But the au is mostly the same as the regular plot, minus a few extra details, and now vampires r kinda real, Elijah is a vampire, and the aesthetic is different

i’m a sucker for finding humanity in villains and i’m terrible at verbalizing things, but i don’t think he is. like, yeah, he’s manipulative, he lovebombs(i don’t know if that’s the right term) sydney, he tries to fucking kill him in front of children and brainwashes people, and none of that is good! is he a good person? no!
but he’s not pure evil, he’s a nuanced character! he’s not doing any of that out of hatred or malice, he believes that what he’s doing is the best thing for sydney and everyone else. this is clearly not a mentally stable character(not using that as an excuse for his actions), he didn’t think he was killing sydney.
i have way more thoughts abt this and none of this was expressed clearly but my word battery is up. this is just my personal interpretation btw.

it’s 5:24 am and I haven’t been able to get any sleep because i've been thinking about the anon on the chnt confessions account yesterday, the post about elijah.
ELIJAH VOLKOV IS NOT A "PURE EVIL VILLIAN." I AM PREPARED TO DIE ON MITKSI’S HILL FOR THIS.
in fact, i'd say he's quite the opposite! he's not some kind of irredeemable, vile monster of a human(?). he is a mentally disturbed man with an unhealthy pious obsession with an idealized version of somebody he does not know.
is he an "evil" character? he fits the textbook definition well enough and he plays an antagonistic role in the story, so yes, i suppose he is.
referring to elijah as a "pure evil villian" might as well be the same thing as calling jedidiah one. both characters and the way they treat sydney are two sides of the same coin. elijah is more stereotypically manipulative than jedidiah, sure, but they still both damage sydney in their own ways.
elijah did do arguably worse things than jedidiah did, for example, stalking, brainwashing children and trying to bury jedidiah alive(through the bodies of people he was also brainwashing). not a great look. but he isn't little jack horner from the newest puss in boots movie, he has real motivations and believes wholeheartedly that he is doing the right thing for all parties involved. his intention wasn't to kill sydney, and i personally don't believe it was his intention to manipulate sydney either. with how divine he views sydney, it just feels out of character for him to do that intentionally. unlike jedidiah, who is self aware enough to realize his flaws and how he harms sydneys mental well being. jedidiah, who(i'm pretty sure) has been aware of how his behavior effects sydney for YEARS, and has still done nothing to change. meanwhile, elijah, who was seemingly unaware of how he negatively impacts sydney, is made aware suddenly, and we see no aftermath of that. presumeably he still views sydney in the same way, but still, who knows?
i guess the main issue i personally have with this take is how it neglects to mention how jedidiah is just as bad. i'm just a jedidiah hater though, so this is probably extremely biased.

Really it was the end of school and I’ve been working on a very big “Camp half blood schedule and breakdown of every activity” because I’m insane and the Camp Jupiter one I need to read the 3 books I bought on the Roman legions to feel good about writing it.

Anyway I finished CH&T while waiting for SOMEONE (cough cough @gayhomosexualactivity listen to TMA please pookie 🥺🥺) and I think I’ve gone somewhat insane.
