Learning every day about how Twitter is imploding more and more due to one(1) man's bad decisions is pretty incredible (and hilarious. The fake verified tweets? Peak comedy). But. Now I want people to start betting on what is going to happen to Twitter next.
How long do you think it's gonna hold up? What will destroy it first, Musk's immense debt raking up so he destroys it on purpose to claim bankruptcy and be rid of it? The government entities going after it? Will it just crumble up from the inside due to everyone with inside knowledge being fired? I am seeing all the threads coming up and can't wait to see which one will end up being plot relevant for the finale.

This deep into his disaster of a time running Twitter and people are still reporting "Elon Musk said he'd give Wikipedia a billion dollars to change their name to DICKipedia xDDDDD" as a wacky story, Which first of all implies the sad possibility that there are people who still find his "let that sink in" shtick funny, but his questioning of Wikipedia is uh. Actually p. sinister
Like, it's easy to go "haha, he doesn't know about hosting costs!" But he. Clearly does know that hosting one of the world's top ten most visited websites costs a lot of money. He wants to sow doubt and conspiracies, and it's working, judging by his replies
Also, he's a rich guy who loves spreading misinformation, mad that Wikipedia doesn't allow it. He also is baffled by the idea he can't buy it, that it's not trying to make money
He doesn't even have any specific criticisms of Wikipedia. Jimmy Wales called him out for removing verification with very specific criticisms, and he just responded "please fix Wokipedia". Ladies and gentlemen...got 'em!!!!!1!
Twitter is about to be banned in Brazil, why?
Have you seen the news about Twitter (now X, but I refuse to call it that) being banned in Brazil? Have you been wondering why that is? I’m Brazilian, and here I am to explain things to you.
You’ve likely noticed that since Elon Musk took over the social media network, hate speech on the platform has skyrocketed. White supremacist and Neo-Nazi groups have been using Twitter to disseminate racist propaganda and hate speech. And although the United States might not be doing anything about this, other countries are not so indulgent. Brazil being one of them.
Racism and incitement of hate (including speech) are crimes in Brazil. So is political disinformation, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, and ableism. Hate speech of any kind is a CRIME in Brazil.
The Brazilian Supreme Court ordered Elon Musk to do something about the political fake news and hate speech on his platform, and Elon responded by shutting down all offices in Brazil.
The Brazilian Supreme Court (STF) then ordered Elon Musk to appoint a legal representative in Brazil, as NO BUSINESS can operate in the country without a legal representative that can be held responsible to crimes and answer to them in a court of law. The STF gave Elon 24 hours to appoint this legal representative, and now that the deadline has passed and Elon has not complied, it seems that Twitter will be shut down in Brazil.
TL;DR: Elon is salty that he’s not above Brazilian law.

Don't make tumblr a second twitter. We love our hellsite(affectionate) exactly how it is. they can get used to it or leave. Tis a delicate ecosystem here.

Oh god. This math actually checks out.
I mean, he couldn’t have ACTUALLY done it, because of how the deal was structured and everything - he wouldn’t have had that much liquid cash for personal payouts (nor do I believe killing Twitter was his actual goal).
But like… sweet jesus, just think about how this puts it in perspective. All those people who lost their jobs, and it would have been CHEAPER in the end to pay them $5,000,000 EACH to just quit. Musk would have saved $6,500,000,000 which is just absolutely ridiculous.
